Guilty Verdict of Buyeo Bomsori to be Punished by Execution

Holy Gaoic Emperor, Supreme Vicar of the Celestial City, Baegukese Maripgan, Grand Sovereign of Changtae, Potentate Son of Heaven, His Imperial Majesty the Jeonghwa Emperor decrees the following:

WHEREAS We, the Maripgan of Baeguk, the sovereign of all 50 million Baegukese under Heaven, have reviewed the facts and evidence against the subject Buyeo Bomsori,

WHEREAS in the Gihae Year (年亥己) of the 6th Heavenly Stem and the 12th Earthly Branch in the 7952nd year of Danseon's reign the unfilial and insurgent barbarian Buyeo Bomsori did attempt to rebel illegally and unrighteously against Our heavenly rule,

WHEREAS the criminal bandit committed untold atrocities against the loyal subjects of Baeguk in both North and South,

WHEREAS the criminal bandit forcibly took state power by violent and unruly means in violation of all law and rite,

WHEREAS the criminal bandit launched a violent and chaotic invasion of Our realms and made war in Our rightful territory, bringing malady and inviting calamity upon the innocent subjects of the realm,

WHEREAS the criminal bandit is guilty of a host of violent mass murders and crimes in violation of the law,

WE DECREE THAT Buyeo Bomsori is found guilty on all counts of Treason, Murder, Crimes against Humanity, and Espionage and Sedition.

The criminal is to be executed by Our hand immediately. Her corpse is to be disfigured, cut into pieces, ground into powder, and shot by the cannons of the Royal Army of Baeguk in equal proportions to all the Five Cardinal Directions (方五). Furthermore, it shall be forbidden forevermore to make offerings to her spirit or ancestral tablet, as is any offering by her line of the Naresuki Buyeo Clan.

Such is the fate for all those who rebel against the Will of Cheon (天) and the Lord of Ten Thousand Years (爺歲萬).

WE HEREBY affirm this as Our decree and the Will of Heaven

(OOC: In real life, Prince Yeonsangun of Joseon implemented a similar punishment scheme- "至有炮烙, 斮胸, 寸斬, 碎骨飄風之刑" - translated, "He even punished them with branding, cutting open their chests, chopping them into pieces, and grinding their bones to be blown away in the
wind". [Source: An Annotated Translation of Daily Records of King Yeonsangun, Chapter One (the 25th Day to the 29th Day of the 12th Month of 1494)]

The remains of Hong Xiuquan of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom were also exhumed by the Qing, burned to ashes and then blown out of a cannon. Gnarly.)

Former Northern Dictator Buyeo Beheaded by Jeonghwa Maripgan

5732.11.17. - GONGMANGDO -

His Imperial Majesty the Jeonghwa Emperor executed Buyeo Bomsori, the final dictator of North Baeguk, by beheading her publicly on the grounds of Beonyeonggung Palace today. The two stood in front of the Injeongjeon Hall of Beonyeonggung, the wide granite expanse seemlessly endless as clergymen and officials and ministers observed the rite. Wielding the Holy Sword of the Crown Jewels and Regalia, the Maripgan cleaved the widely reviled traitor's head from her body, then proclaimed it the will of Heaven.

Following the execution, the Maripgan's clothing was burned as Buyeo's corpse was stripped, drawn and quartered, and then incinerated and ground into powder. Later in the day, equal portions of the ashes were shot at 4 PM from cannons in the East, West, South, North, and Center directions of the Kingdom.

The execution has spurred much discussion in Baeguk. Buyeo, who was responsible for the cruel and bloody invasion of the Gihae year, was widely condemned and reviled by the people. Her execution was unprecedently handled personally by the Ministry of Official Affairs rather than the Office of the Interior or the Office of Justice, who typically handle the prosecution and defense respectively. However, in general the widespread hatred of Buyeo by most subjects of the south has called for her blood, which is now paid in full.

OPINION - The Government's Decision to Cut Ties with Kalistan Benefits Nobody
The Yoon Administration's expulsion of the Kalistani consulate will do little in reality and continue to embitter Baeguk's international reputation

Author: YURI Haeoreum

In yet another bellicose act of political theater by the incumbent administration, the Kalistani consulate in Gongmangdo has been ordered to close by the KGB Office of Foreign Affairs. The move signals the present severing of official diplomatic relations between the KGB and Ananto, which had existed (albeit in a languished and neglected state) for centuries prior.

The KGB OFA alleged that the Kalistani representatives summoned were "insufficient" in "demonstrations of supplication to the Son of Heaven", and that Kalistan had acted in a rash manner as to offend Cheon (Heaven in the indigenous Gaoic religion).

Indeed, public opinion in Baeguk, which was previously neutral, has soured immensely due to Kalistan's continued use of a sore and traumatic term for the nation. The use of the term "Dankuk" (國亶) instead of Baeguk, the commonly accepted Luthorian-language term for Baeguk (domestically referred to as 國拜), is seen as politically and culturally deeply insensitive by most countrymen, given its heavy use by the genocidal Kyo Commonwealth of Dankuk during the dark age of fascism in the 52nd-53rd centuries. Given the common use of Baeguk and the negative associations the old term, the Foreign Office declared the offensive Kalistani as an insult to Baegukese people and their struggle against fascism during the dark period.

Baeguk and Kalistan have maintained relatively tepid diplomatic relations in recent history, having had little to no interaction. For instance, in the original diplomatic cable during the spat the OFA erroneousy referred to the consulate of Kalistan as the embassy. Apparently, the misunderstanding was due to the translation of the native term for consulate vs. embassy ( 館使公/館使大). The Kalistani office had not used native terms and staffed Kyo speakers of a different dialect, which had confused the translators of the OFA.

In a practical sense, neither government has much to lose over the severing of relations given the relative lack of human, economic, or intellectual capital that defines the bilateral relationship. Less than 1,000 KGB citizens are believed to reside in Kalistan at the present time. Baeguk will likely seek the intermediary protective use of a neutral power to manage those affairs, though the irresponsible administration has given no comment to these matters. As for Kalistanis in Baeguk, their numbers are unknown but are believed to be incredibly small in population. The government hasn't actually banned Kalistanis from residing in or living in the KGB as of yet, though unless Kalistan uses a protecting power's diplomatic status they will be without immediate legal relief.

However, this means that there is little to nothing gained in the row. Kalistan was a nation that had no real serious quarrel with our nation other than commenting in a characteristically frank and unconventional manner towards international affairs, as is their reputation internationally. Kalistan may have not been the most respectful, but it is undoubtable that it was this administration that picked a fight with what was a relatively neutral nation.

It is this reporter's opinion that this move has granted effectively nothing to the KGB other than making it look sensitive and irritable. At a time where Baeguk and the Holy Gaoic Empire are already viewed somewhat as an antiquated case of novel "Oriental despotism", and Dovanian and Gao-Showan peoples are frequently subjected to racism and discrimination abroad, such conduct is unbecoming and only serves to tarnish Baeguk's international reputation. The KGB may have lost nothing, but it may have incurred a degree of infamy.

Sinsidae Restores Full Production at Electronics Plant #1 after Wartime Rationing, Tech Sector Optimistic

5734.3.10. - Gongmangdo - The Sinsidae Corporation has announced that its supply chains have returned to pre-war levels and that production at its iconic Gongmangdo Electronics Plant #1 will be able to supply stressed demand. Sinsidae, which acquired Hanulro Electronics in 5667 during a corporate merger, has remained Baeguk's top conglomerate group and electronics manufacturer. Though rivaled by the new Daebuk Group, Sinsidae has maintained market dominance and the lion's share of Baeguk's consumer electronics and semi-conductor industry. Due to its consistent status as a crown jewel of the Baegukese economy alongside heavy industrial equipment and shipbuilding, semi-conductors have long been a pillar of the economy.

However, the necessary rationing of the war effort made supply precarious, with Sinsidae being forced to divert funding to the military and armaments. Now that the country has been reunified, this strain has been lifted and growth is predicted to occur. This growth is only expected to accelerate now that the southern economy can be fueled by the rich energy sources and mineral wealth of the North, which was formerly locked away under communism. Such optimism has generated a considerable rally at the Gongmangdo Stock Exchange, with some sources speculating as much as a healthy 4% growth in GDP this year, a stunning reversal of the fears and pessimism when the war initially kicked off just a couple of years ago.

"Naengmyeon" Social Media trend Criticized by Ministry of Education, which pushes "Raengmyeon"
The influx of Northern immigrants and culture among the youth has led them to seek Taedo-style cold noodles, which are known in the characteristic Northern dialect as "Naengmyeon". Many trends and hashtags on social media have been pushing the Northern delicacy, which is more refined and subtle than it's more pungent Southern counterpart most Baegukese are used to. This has prompted criticism by the KGB Ministry of Education (MOE), which insists that the northern initial sound rule is incorrect and uncultured. The issue stems from the different readings of the characters for cold noodles (麵冷), which the North (면냉) and South (면랭) pronounce differently. Though the MOE tries to push linguistic purism, local restauranters of the South are resistant and argue that the appeal of "Naengmyeon" has been a boon for business.
