The funeral was held in Luthori where Governor-General Prince Louis-Ferdinand of Orange-Villayn, Duke of Coliwick, attended the funeral of his sovereign and kinsmen. He was joined by the Prime-Minister Henry Humperdinck, the leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition and the Speaker of the Federal Parliament. There they were granted an audience at Orange Palace with the new Emperor-King, William XI, who succeeded his father Richard II as King of Mordusia.
On the 10th of December His Majesty was remembered in a special session of the Federal Parliament with in attending representatives of all six states of the Commonwealth in Rechtenburg Palace, the official seat of the Monarch in Mordusia. There Governor-General Prince Louis-Ferdinand and the Prime-Minister addressed the nation. In the address the Governor-General cited that occasion such as these are ‘’difficult’’ for ‘’we lose a great sovereign, end his story and reign over our nation’’ but at the same time ‘’opening a new exiting chapter with the ascension of his son, William XI.’’
Flags of all states, the Commonwealth and the Imperial Confederation were hung halfmast all throughout the nation, showing solidarity with His Majesty's family, the Imperial Family, but also showcasing the deep loss the nation has suffered with the passing of their long time sovereign. As the governor-general said, with the passing of Emperor Richard II, his son Emperor William XI automatically becomes the new Emperor of Luthori, King of Mordusia, Rightfull Meleh of the Yeudi Homeland and Sovereign of the Imperial Confederation. A corronation is soon to be expected in the Holy Luthorian Empire.

Mrs Wells has stated that her new government will focus on continuing many of the policies of her predecessor, while placing greater emphasis on social services and ending what she described as “unfair treatment.” As an example, she referred to “the horrible situation the New Englian population here had to go through.” She further stated that “workers deserve to be treated properly for their hard work.” In line with this, the new Labor prime minister announced that her government will work on introducing a federal minimum wage law.
It is relatively uncommon in Mordusian politics for a party to replace a leader—particularly one who is performing reasonably well in the polls and is the sitting prime minister. However, it has long been known that the internal balance within the Reform–Labor Coalition has been gradually shifting in favor of Labor. Labor’s caucus performed strongly and now holds more influence within the coalition than ever before.
At the Coalition’s congress prior to the election, it was announced that the sitting one-term prime minister, John Harrison (Reform), would not lead the coalition into the election. Instead, he was replaced by Katt Wells (Labor) as the coalition’s leader during the campaign.
John Harrison had led the Reform–Labor Coalition through two previous elections. In his first election, in 5703, he managed to increase the coalition’s seat share but finished second behind the National Party, which subsequently formed a minority government supported by several minor parties. In 5708, Harrison again led the coalition in what became a heated contest with the National Party for the largest share of seats. Both parties ultimately won 164 seats each, largely at the expense of the minor parties. After securing the support of the Wildlife Party and the Parti Voisainaise, Harrison was able to form a minority government.

Last year the House of Commons agreed upon an investigation and making a detailed report on the decades old problem of exploitation of New Englian workers in Mordusia. Years ago, reports from New Englian news sources brought the situation to light, with the then ruling governments finding some violations and unacceptable conditions, but never to the level as claimed in the news report. Members of the Labor party however never believed this and with the election of one of them to Prime-Minister and full inquiry was launched.
It took two years to investigate and write the report. The report on the situation of the New Englans is clear and shocking. Many of them work against too low wages, thanks in part to no federal minimum wage and lacking labour law checks for state labour laws. It seems the main problem is the federal labour inspections were understaffed, ignorant and not focused on labour intensive workplaces, especially those who more often than not employ foreign workers. That coupled with the fact that they only inspected federal labour laws and not local laws as well has caused the current situation that up until this day, according to the report, a vast number of foreign workers from low educated backgrounds or from less wealthy or developed countries are still being exploited. The main group of these that came to light were the New Englians, who make up a great number of the foreign workers in Mordusia.
In parliament a heated debate came about on how the government could miss such gross violations on labour laws and how the labour inspection never found such gross mistreatment of New Englian workers. The prime-minister said in the debate that ‘’it’s simply shameful that none of the previous governments nor any governmental agency picked up on this dark and hurtful crime’’. She was followed by every leader in the House who stated their remorse and shock on how far the situation had gone. With minister Hailsworth promising swift and decisive action against companies who still violate the rules and coming with laws and bills to ‘’sharpen the processes of the labour inspection and to make sure this never happens again. Next to changes of laws and bills the government will according to the minister seek to aid the families who were hurt by the situation and help them to new jobs or to improve their labour conditions significantly.
Finally, the Prime-Minister announced that she will visit New Englia in 5617 to express her deep apologies and tighten relations with New Englia ‘’with whom we share a history and who deserve an apology. We need to close this shamefull chapter and seek to move forward, New Englia and Mordusia have much to offer to one another’’. On the question why the Prime-Minister wouldnt go earlier she said that ''we need to take care of business here first, show them we mean business and correct our mistakes. I want to take the time with my team to fix this mess and meet with those affected in our country, thats the least they deserve''.

Minimum wage & workers protection pass into law

As announced the government proposed sweeping reforms to the Worker’s Rights Act with new protections, such as more inspections and stricter laws for employers to prevent the exploitation of specifically foreign workers as was seen to happen with the New Englian workers in Mordusia. However, the reforms proposed by the government didn’t end there, a new federal minimum wage bill was proposed by the government to equalise the pay of workers and to make sure that everyone is able to live from a normal wage.
Many states have their own minimum wage, with often the more rural states and more business minded states either having a lower minimum wage or none at all. Voisain is a state for instance that had a minimum wage, but one that is lower than the federal one imposed now through the new act. This caused Parti Voisainaise, the National Party and some dissenting Reform Party members to complain for various reasons and ultimately nearly voting against the reforms.
Especially Parti Voisainaise was angry that the federal government would overstep its role and impose something that was the responsibility of the state. The party states that Voisain’s competitiveness will be severally hurt and that it once more crushed local autonomy of the states in favour of an ever-growing unitary state. This was also the criticism of the Alliance (Reform-Labor Alliance) member Reform. Mark Eddy, leader of the vocal regionalists within the Reform Party criticised the law saying that ‘’mandating a minimum wage through federal law is something we support, it would force the states to really take action, but setting a federal minimum wage is taking it too far’’. He further stated that his group wants to ‘’leave as much to local level as possible, as close to the citizens as we can’’. Criticism from the National Party was obvious, though they are not opposed to centralising labour laws and economics to prevent local chaos, they opposed what they called a ‘’harsh punishment for companies’’ which would according to them ‘’lead to the loss of jobs, punishing less productive workers’’ and ‘’hurting competitiveness in states that are less economic fortunate’’.
However despite the big opposition the Labor-led Reform-Labor Alliance government headed by Prime-Minister Kat Wells stood firm, standing by her Minister for Labour & Employment Mandy Hailsworth (Labor) and the bills, saying that ‘’this country needs these reforms, we can’t standby and let hard working Kiwi’s just burn themselves out for nothing but some scraps, nor to let foreign workers who do the jobs we don’t want to remain destitude after hard labour, that’s not the social way nor what a civilised society accepts!’’. Thanks to her standing firm and the support of Ikpi Rights, Forward Mordusia and Wildlife the bill passed with a majority.

Reform-Labor’s Katt Wells secures her re-election, winning the elections for a second time and secures a second term for herself as prime-minister and an unprecedented third term for her party. The more left-leaning government of the social democrat and Labor caucus leader and leader of the Coalition has managed to increase her majority by 6 seats, bringing her up to 182 seats in total. A comfortable majority to lead.
It’s clear that the Reform-Labor Coalition is celebrating to night. The hard-fought campaign on social security, increasing funding for sports, inclusion and healthcare as well as keeping the fight up for workers rights has resonated with the voters. Within the party however they weren’t too sure about it at first. The Reform caucus, a traditionally more centre-left social liberal faction has had stiff competition from the more centre-right liberals from Forward Mordusia, who accuse the National Party of being out of touch and Reform-Labor with spend thrift and losing the economy out of sight. Though more Labor MP’s were elected and Reform lost only two seats, their fears of a strong liberal opponent were correct. Forward Mordusia, capitalising on the chaos within the National Party have gained a shocking 22 seats, becoming the major winner of the night in terms of seat gain, increasing their total amount of seats to 26.
Lastly there is National, the main conservative big-tent centre-right party, their leader Tony Albanense was just not the appealing enough. He flopped according to the voters in the first two debates, only managing to come of as ‘okay’ or average in the third debate. Many have attributed the loss however more to his weak leadership. It is wildly known that the more liberal-conservative and the national-conservative groups are at odds with each other and can’t agree on certain policy choices. Albanese is more known as a centrist moderate National and tries to keep both camps together. It is unknown if he will stay on as leader.
Prime-Minister Wells has announced a minor reshuffle in the cabinet and will visit the Governor-General's palace in Rechtenburg tomorrow afternoon to discuss her new government.

Earlier this month the minister announced a plan for a major package of investments in sports by introducing Federal contributions to supporting sports on schools and high-performance sport. Whilst also increasing the funding for the state government for their sport programs and stimulating amateur sport and the finding of talent. The minister in his speech to the House introducing the bill for discussion said that ‘’we must see those potential benefits of this bill’’ noting that ‘’healthcare, economy, community building and human development of all ages benefit from more engagement in sports’’.
Late last night the bill was passed with a significant amendment, the bill was surprisingly too mild according to the opposition who, especially Forward Mordusia, found that the Federal government should also invest in helping the construction of new stadiums and help teams get on their feat so that they can participate in international sporting competitions as well. This amendment found large support in the House, only some of Wildlife and the National Party opposing the bill.
Various representatives of the major sport leagues, sport clubs etc. have already noted their excitement for the new federal attention to sports. Many of them echoed the ministers positions, saying that sport binds people and is healthy and good for the spirits.

The proposal was announced begin this week at a press conference between the state ministers for public transportation of the three states. The plan is to make it cheaper for families, students and youth in general to travel through the three states for holidays, visits to museums, the beach, vacation destinations and for going out and enjoying nature or the nightlife of the cities or beach clubs. With this new ticket the forementioned groups can make unlimited use of public transportation within the various seasons and holidays, with the price of the ticket based on the length of the specific holiday it is meant for.
With this move the three states hope to boost tourism from their own population within their own states and make various destinations more appealing and affordable. Especially since the states want to first boost domestic tourism before lobbying the federal government to make Mordusia more appealing to foreign tourists.
Public transportation companies within the states have voiced their enthusiasm about the idea and have offered to work with the states to hash out the last details and to make sure the program remains affordable as to make sure that it remains a sustainable program for the foreseeable future.

The elections yesterday saw the large parties failing to secure the confidence of the voters, as the Reform-Labor Coalition and the opposition challenger the National Party fail to secure a majority. Whilst the Coalition lost 25 seats, the Nationals only managed to obtain 1 seat out of the bloodshed, signalling that their message still isn’t popular enough. With this the largest party (the Coalition) has 157 seats, followed by the Nationals with 132 seats. Showing growing confidence in the minor parties who gained significant ground.
Across the country we saw a growing support for the minor parties. Especially the liberals from Forward Mordusia who without a doubt are happy with the 15 seats they won, growing from 26 seats to 41 seats. Making them the kingmakers for one of the two parties to attain a majority. Another party that grew is the Animal Rights environmentalist party, who increased from 3 seats to 14. Not only that the Ikpi Rights won another seat, growing to a record high of 4 seats. The growth of the small parties shows that the electorate is searching for an alternative vision on politics, away from the dominant big-tent parties.
It is likely that two possible coalition can be made in this hung parliament: Reform-Labor-Forward or National-Forward. It remains to be seen whom the liberals will choose, but one thing is for sure, Bill Scot is now the King maker.

Burke to become new PM in coalition with Forward Mordusia

As the negotiations were paused do to the leadership elections, the moderates from Reform together with the Labor-right showed that they enjoyed more support amongst the members in the caucus as well as within their respective parties. As the poll numbers began to decline it seemed more clearly that Katt Wells, the Prime-Minister, had no hope of winning. Later next week the Prime-Minister announced that she would resign the leadership and withdrew from the leadership election. She would however stay on as Prime-Minister until a new government could be installed by the Governor-General.
To the surprise of no-one Jason Burke won the election and became the new leader of the Coalition, with the Labor-deputy leader becoming the new Labor-leader and deputy leader of the Coalition. This change seemed welcome to Forward who announced an eagerness to resume talks for a more centrist leaning coalition with a strong social core. This to the utter dismay of the Nationals, who saw their hope for a conservative-led government fall apart.
Earlier this week the negotiating parties announced that they will publish a coalition agreement on keypoints, with Forward Mordusia gaining the deputy Prime-Minister post as well as the ministry of Foreign Affairs and Finance along side some other minor ministries.
