Reports have come into our newsroom that in the outskirts of Jildrati City and in the north dozens of explosions rang throughout the area, towards newly finished ESK flats, towards various streets and throughfares, and towards governmental buildings and stores alike.

These explosions were reminisent of explosions seen in Kaliburg during the Invasion of the Homeland when missiles rang the Kalistani capital causing mass death and injury as those missiles contained chemical munitions. It seems that similar munitions were used here too. With no warning, the explosions rang out throughout the city and, according to the Ministry of Health, it has led to thousands dead.

Reportedly, any survivors were then gunned down by unknown individuals. Numerous individuals reportedly donned military grade gear and used various guns to slaughter those who managed to survive the gas attack. Yet even then reportedly local soldiers and police officers fought back with armed civilians and, according to the Minister of Defense, 28 perpetrators were killed off either from the self-defensive actions of our heroes or from the carnage that their kind left behind.

Many hospitals in Etxea are currently overwhelmed with patients suffering from this attack and it has forced hospitals to either turn away patients or treat individuals suffering from these gas attacks outside. According to the Ministry of Health, around 3,000 people have passed away in this attack either from the gunfights or from the gas, with another 8,000 injured. It is very likely, according to the Ministry of Health, that the numbers of the dead will rise within the next few weeks.

The President of the Kundrati Union, Tiberius Claudius Nero, has spoken out regarding this:

Quote:I have no doubt, as I had no doubt a few years back when they striked the POB, who did this evil. I have no doubt the bandits wish to eliminate us all. Three thousand dead and eight thousand wounded, sick, throwing up, their eyes popping from the blood and their mouths frothing from red and white. It has all the hallmarks of Mr. Lazar. We must stand as one, for our mere existence spites those bastards, and we must stand as one forever. This is the sacrifice we all must take.

The Minister of Health has also commented on the situation:

Quote:It is undoubtedly clear that whatever gas was used in this attack was designed to kill. It was launched in such a way to kill without regard to identity or purpose beyond slaughter. Our hospitals are overwhelmed as a result. We call on the international community to send as much aid as possible, otherwise that 8,000 number of wounded will turn into 11,000 dead and 0 wounded. Such is the severity of what has just happened. We ask Luthori to take some of our own to their hospitals for them to get treatment. We call on those as a part of the Romulo Fund to help us, Egelion, Luthori, South Dovani, Valruzia, and more, to help us. We call on Kalistan to help us. And I personally will visit these countries to plead in person to them what has just happened.

A mass memorial service is expected to be held on 1 March 5633. The President has said that he will cover the costs of funeral and cremation for those who have passed away. The President is also scheduled to visit some of the funerals of those who were killed by this heinous act by the Legionary bandits per communication with his office.

In an announcement to the media, the President of the Kundrati Union Tiberius Claudius Nero has announced that he has dissolved the Legisbiltzarra and that he has set the election date for 1 February of the next year. He has spoken to the head of the National Electoral Commission to declare as such and he has also spoken to the Kundrati People's Party leadership in order to encourage them to fight on.

The date of the election, 1 February, means that starting tomorrow we will have a three-month electoral campaign period. As the Kasaema Guardian we wish the best of luck to all parties and all candidates in glorious Etxea fighting for a seat in the Legisbiltzarra and for the Presidency.

The Kundrati People's Party has seen a ton of situations hit lately. The chemical attack on Jildrati City and Extea at-large, alongside the attempted assassination of the President and the bombing of the Presidential Office Building has brought Etxea, or the Free Zone, into international news. It also brought pressure at home urging the President to fight on and attack the Legion. The KPP, so far, has not done much publicly with the President saying that he wants to ensure the stability and peace of our country before going after their bretheren and the bandits that attempt to control them. The KPP, if they win the election, promises to revise the citizenship law to declare that all persons living inside Kundrati are citizens of the Kundrati Union, alongside working with Luthori and possibly other partners to go after the Legion militarily.

The Party for the Rejuvenation of the Kundrati Nation alongside the Aliantza have decided to go on a joint list. With their Presidential candidate being Androniko Ibargoyara they plan to urge citizens to vote for them and urge for self reliance and welfare programs. The PRKN-A list also promises to promote tourism in Etxea and expand the housing project program under the ESK to the north with dedicated bunkers and reinforced towers to protect against missiles and the like. Ibargoyara has also urged the military to perform military raids on the territory controlled by the Legionary bandits and to get their own incidenary weapons and bombs to use across the Jildrath Strait.

The National Kundrati Party, however, has called for the Free Zone to turn isolationist and even work with the north. The NKP urges a focus on reconstruction and putting funds towards rebuilding and organizing agricultural and industrial industries like shipbuilding and construction. Their Presidential candidate Prometeo Domaiquia has said that the Kundrati Union must push on by itself so that they shouldn't be reliant on others as it was that which led to the Legionary bandits taking over Kundrati in the first place.

A new politiccal player has appeared as well, the Pan-Artanian Progressive Party. According to the PAPP, they plan to aim on social democratic policies while urging for a hawkish solution like the PRKN-A list. In fact, they also plan for pan-Artanian policies as well. The Presidential candidate of the PRKN-A list, Ibargoyara, has said he might be willing to work with the PAPP/APPA on asking them to join the joint list and provide a unified front to possibly take out the KPP in the Legisbiltzarra.

In the same announcement as the dissolution of the Legisbiltzarra, the President has officially announced the dissolution of the National Rejuvenation Council, the military council which used to rule Etxea in it's independent formative years. The President cited it is no longer necessary to have the council and that necessary manuevers are being prepared in case the Legion were to invade the Free Zone. He spoke out for the first time about the document leak regarding succession claiming that if the Legion did not exist and were not doing the chemical attacks and attacks on infrastructure within the Free Zone that any military option for protecting democracy wouldn't need to exist. He hopes that the military doesn't need to protect democracy within the Free Zone, however he also says he is a realistic man and he feels the Legion will strike on until the Free Zone is back into their fold.

A long journey is ahead for the Kundrati Union for the next three months. Let us see what happens next!

And thus it was that Arañotz Dindairu has become the second President of the Kundrati Union of the modern era.

This shocking win came after the ongoing Arazoak crises which has plagued the island within the last couple of months, culminating last month in missile strikes on the mainland by Luthori alongside a retaliatory response from the Legionary bandits on Luthorian targets. These actions seem to have swung the political arena in favor of the collective opposition where, in fact, it was clear by February that the Kundrati People's Party, in power for at least two decades, would be in power no more.

With at least 1.4 million people voting for this election, it was a shocking landslide for Arañotz Dindairu. This came as a surprise as it was thought that the main opposition parties would win the Presidency at the very least. However, due to Dindairu's strong attitude against the Legion alongside promises of upgraded welfare practices and more the people seem to have signalled a major change in the Union.

The Legebiltzarra has also shifted. The Kundrati People's Party went from a majority government of 58 seats to 35 seats putting them firmly in the opposition. The Party for the Rejuvenation of the Kundrati Nation (centre-left) also got 35 seats while the newcomer Pan-Artanian Progressive Party of Dindairu got 11 seats with Aliantza rounding out with 12 seats for a 90 seat Legebiltzarra. The National Kundrati Party got no seats and their Presidential candidate shockingly got only a few tens of thousands of votes.

The opposition parties have expressed a firm desire to work with Arañotz Dindairu for a stable government. Tiberius Claudius Nero has congratulated the opposition in a video message on social media and he has said that he will retire from the Kundrati People's Party leadership and possibly give up politics altogether.
