Tel Bira, Adishut Nisrad - It's important to remember that beneath all these complex macro and micro economic terms lie three very simple principles, born out of human nature. For, at the end of the day, we are humans feeling a certain range of emotions.
Greed; envy; fear.
OOC: For anyone who reads it, I'm drawing parallels with the US and what the US has been undergoing in recent years, especially lately - imagine that you're not exactly reading about what's happening to Beiteynu, but to the US; you're reading about Beiteynu, of course, since this is IC.
Demand and supply: this is the foundation of everything economics-related. You want eggs from the one who has chickens, and you can offer milk since you're the one who has cows.
Money: the one who had chickens didn't walk milk; they wanted 4 chairs. So, we invented something in between everything. This is where all the complexity started, because that something in between was, well, "in between". Things in between are very, very subjective.
Credit: it's money from the future. That's it. When you use credit to buy a phone, you're using your own money from the future, in the present. This is why human potential exploded. And this is where risk skyrocketed into the stratosphere.
What is actually the "Neset"?
Beiteynu's unprecedented historical rise was due to Yeudis becoming the "in between" themselves. They neither created demand nor offered supply, standing in the middle. Yeudi banking offered services to other banks, not to direct customers. Yeudi shipping offered services to other markets. Yeudi industrial and defence manufacturing offered services to other suppliers. Yeudi software was used by other hardware makers. Same with oil and gas - for Yeudis have neither contributed to either demand or supply in the Vamaj Network.
And thus, the world saw an explosion of demand and supply by others, with Yeudis "in between" everyone.
And the "Made in Beiteynu" label all but a ghost - on the contrary, paperwork was in abundance.
The Neset was born.
Why did Beiteynu meddle everywhere?
As Yeudis around the world stockpiled money in obscene amounts, Beiteynu was in a conundrum. When you don't actually generate that demand and supply yourself, you are prone to the comings and goings of everyone else. If we set aside all these wild conspiracy theories and media stories of an ancient Yeudi civil war, it's prudent to understand that due to the nature of this type of commerce, Beiteynu had to keep its eyes on it.
And the extroversion and meddling began, in the farthest reaches of the world. All that "protect the Yeudi People" mostly translated to "protecting all that Yeudish commerce", the one "in between" the demand and supply of everyone else.
So, what did Beiteynu do?
It used money from the future.
Credit.
How did Beiteynu get so powerful?
People will loan you money if they trust that your future is going to be good so they can get paid back, with interest. These types of agreements also include collateral: what happens if your future turns sour, what can they take instead. That's how credit works.
Here's where it gets weirder.
Remember how humans invented the "in between"? The money? The medium? If your money - or in the case of Yeudis, your commerce - is used everywhere by everyone else, it's suddenly in your best interest to get as much money from the future as possible.
Why?
Because the rest of the world using your "in between" is much, much larger than your own population and volume. So, if you're not getting your own "in between" back from others, your "in between" will start losing value.
So Beiteynu leveraged the shit out of its amazing future, borrowing its own money from others, as the world's commerce peaked on the backbone of not just a Yeudi "in between", but paired with a Canrillaise "in between" now.
The CFR (then known as LFR) currency.
Why did Beiteynu not fall sooner?
Currency trumps trade, when it comes to the "in between". And Canrillaise currency beat Yeudish trade in the Hubris War. However, the party of growth didn't stop, as the Canrillaise "in between" continued to fuel the Yeudish "in between" for everyone else.
And everybody kept growing, despite Beiteynu's noticeable loses during and after the war.
Greed; envy; fear - remember?
How did Beiteynu fall?
Bad decisions and endlessly increasing greed, envy and fear itself. These are the pitfalls of capitalism and imperialism, everywhere. When the odds are in your favour and you keep growing and growing and amassing wealth, you think the party will never stop.
But the party always stops at some point. It all traces back to our basic macro and micro economic principles and human behaviour.
Demand and supply: how many chickens, cows, eggs and milk more can we all need, really? Yet here you are growing and growing markets endlessly because you've become greedy, envious and fearful.
Money: remember how the more "in between" you create, the more "in between" you need? The premise is simple: if you and me start with 10 CFR each, there really isn't much difference when we both end up with 100 CFR each. It's more "in between". But is it?
Credit: people stop loaning you. Things really turn nasty when those loans you were getting was because of your "in between". Now it's not, so you're now stuck with a lot of "in between" that's used less and less by others.
And that's where the city states of former Beiteynu now stand; and the Neset itself.
Amudim's logical next step is to get rid of all that excess "in between".
So what now?
Onwards to the next cycle, because human behaviour does not change. So watch where the cycle is and act accordingly.
Beiteynu's and Canrille's "in between" has now solidified its decline - there is no turning back. On the other hand, Keris's and Dovani's demand and supply is currently rising, as Western shares diminish in global markets. And people will always want milk and eggs.
So, the ones that become the "in between" will be able to ride the Kerisian and Dovanian demand and supply rise.
And those who manage that, will be the next to craft the new world order.

Nowogard, Valruzia - As the conflict in Central Artania begins to take a back seat, Lodamun's space program and Valruzia's returns from its recent domestic policies have began to change the political landscape of Seleya. Last year's budget projections from Port Alexander have also finally reached a point of cohesion in terms of Mordusia's overall market positioning in a continent that's steadily joining Dovani's positive tide.
Meanwhile, Egelion's ANSE woke up to a hiccup this week following the ongoing friction with the Ananto Empire and Kalistan. The Neset remains buried under the heavy burden of Amudim's unresolved debt accumulation, especially as Fort William continues to report downturns in trade.
The UNX continues its relentless rise, particularly in anticipation of the Khattaya Conference in South Dovani (Hanzen), the first supranational gathering in Dovani in recent years; with Xsampa - considered by many the current Dovanian leader - having already RSVPed.

Cortes, Tukarali - Global markets took a "breath of fresh air" last week for the first time after almost 3 years of a panic period, largely thanks to what is clearly the Eastern hemisphere balancing out and stabilising the negative downturns of Artania and the Jelbek Peninsula. The BSE in Bannerhafen - owed to its extensive trade network - managed to overcome the TBSE and FWSE's drag on Friday, painting a positive note for the weekend.
The Central Bank of Amudim stated on Monday morning that "liquidity injections and rate cuts are working", to which the Head of the Saham - Tel Bira's financial regulatory body for the Neset - responded with a fiery "no they aren't, we're just lucky everyone else is not a maniac".
Political analysts have surmised that the growing rift between Egelion and Kalistan will remain and may potentially continue to impact markets.
It seems that despite appearances, everyone's stuck in a weird position on what to do next in terms of the "grand scheme of things".

Tel Bira, Adishut Nisrad - Not much managed to escape the black hole of media coverage with the conflict in Central Artania and the little that did, barely managed to paint a very obscure and mystic picture of the entire situation. Regardless, extensive rumours from the government halls of the Empire of Ananto and Kalistan, Hutori and Luthori seem to indicate that the war is either over or "close to its nightmarish end".
The Equifund Index's continuous falls over the last few months does seem to indicate that military procurement has in fact decreased - although Special Advisor to Fort William did blurt out a controversial statement about a potential carrier battle group deployment to Mordusia.
While recent headlines from Bianjie indicate that Dovani's trend-setting tranquility is here to stay for the foreseeable future - with a Xsampan official underlining the importance of "making the most out of the current situation" over a weekend podcast - several financial and political experts have remained cautious, sensing a great "rush" behind the scenes, referring to regional tensions in the northern Anantonese Ocean.
And, of course, the spotlight switching now to Egelion and Kalistan - with both still driving North Seleyan and Kerisian markets upwards, especially as Altea continues to speed through extensive visits and agreements across the world.
"When everything is green, it's a human fallacy - never expect things to last", was the statement of one of the TBSE's brokers.

3PF deploys Yishelhafen Fleet as "potential deterrent" amidst rising Lodamese-Selucian tensions

Himmelshtern, Narikaton & Darnussia - Kensington's last month's challenge to the Selucian tariffs still in effect ultimately saw a calm tactical response from Himmelshtern's Narik and Darnussian administration, in sharp contrast to what most usually expect from the Holy Land when it comes to challenges by non-Majatran nations insofar as the Migrant's Pass is concerned.
A 3rd Point Federation spokesperson confirmed earlier this morning that 3PF Command ordered the deployment of the 35th and 37th Flotillas of the Yishelhafen Fleet with a mandate to act as a shield in ensuring maritime trade in the region, stating:
Quote:Lodamun has long been a ratifier of the Migrant Accords. Recent military operations do not indicate any threat to Selucia's sovereignty. So I'll make it clear that we are NOT marching into war.
However, Lodamun is a member of the Empire of Ananto and Kalistan. If we detect any interference from Kaliburg, or any comments whatsoever diminishing the institutions and structures of the Migrant's Pass during these tumultuous times, we will treat it as an open challenge by the Government of Lodamun, as well, by association.
Himmelshtern continues to honour the Ananto Strait Accords - we expect Kaliburg to reciprocate the same respect to the Migrant's Pass, considering an age-long mutual understanding of securing one's regional waters.

When asked about Himmelshtern's stance to Selucian tariffs, he declined to comment.
Sholemberg and Tel Bira however jumped on the ongoing friction by increasing pressure on Selucia to remove the tariffs entirely, as both city states have been chronically hit by diminished trade returns.
It was also reported last week that the Octagon in Pontesi has met with the Hosheh in Amshinov, with both ordering increased alertness in the joint ASBM (Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile) installations on the mountainous borders between both states.

A troubled return to the homeland: more than 200.000 Kundratijan-Yeudis face investigative screenings

Yishelem - We now know, plain as day, that, not only did the now defunct Yeudish Bureau of Investigations doctor that joint Likatonian-Beiteynuese report on war crimes and human rights violations in Kundrati, but several Kundratijan-Yeudis were directly involved in weapons research; apparently as part of a backchannel agreement between Yishelem and Kasaema long before any conflict first darkened Central Artania's skies.
In fact, the entire aftermath of the ordeal is so dark that it has led inspectors with the police to assume foul play in the death of one of that report's investigators and his family back in 5636.
Throughout the decades of the supranational involvement in Kundrati and the dragged out conflicts, declassified reports now indicate that part of that underground deal included allowing passage for Kundratijan-Yeudis to flee the country through neighbouring nations; and return to the Holy Land via transports funded by the Beiteynuese Government itself.
The numbers of Kundratijan-Yeudis returning to the homeland and uprooting centuries of their lives in Artania skyrocketed in the immediate aftermath of Hutori's and Luthori's involvement in the war. A return now aided by two foreign governments.
Several Yeudi banks and manufacturers finally disclosed the billions of CFR of losses in Kundratijan assets, tanking the TBSE last Friday.
These uprooted Yeudis have been facing screenings for months, with the investigative spotlight falling upon them as international media sheds more and more light into the internal operations of Kundrati.
Rumours of Yishelem's interference in police proceedings were quashed immediately by several sources within the city state's administration itself, as well as Fort William, with the Justice Department amping up immense levels of pressure last month.
The Luthorian Ambassador to Yishelem remarked how Yishelem "has no choice but to extradite war criminals" - subsequently either for trial in Luthori or the ICJ in Lourenne, depending on the charges issued by both Luthori and the Yishelem Nisrad.
Police expect proceedings to last years, if not decades, considering the sheer number of those currently being investigated.

Carrier groups to join naval exercises in Egelion as part of decade-long plan for decommissioning Shahar Fleets

Himmelshtern, Narikaton and Darnussia - The Deputy Secretary of Himmelshtern confirmed twenty minutes ago that the navy would indeed be joining Egelion's planned exercises, finally offering closure to years of speculation in the wake of extensive Equifund deals with Altea and Amudim's pursuit of selling its expensive warships - especially after Tel Bira's complete defense budget cut led to two more city states following suit.
Although neither the Amudimim Ambassador to Egelion nor the Deputy Secretary confirmed nor denied whether these state of the art warships would be sold to the Government of Egelion, it is widely assumed they will be, with Himmelshtern's decommissioning plan in effect since last year.
The remaining 2 formations of the Shahar Fleets (the 3rd one was destroyed by Xsampa in the Vascanian Sea) include the two small and agile aircraft carriers of Narik and Darnussian design, as well as 4 IRBM-purposed Nekama-class cruisers of proprietary Yeudi design. While the two Froahiko-class submarines procured from Vanuku are assumed not available for sale after the extended controversy with South Dovani [Hanzen], the two air defence Jelbic-made frigates are technically - and legally - still possible to sell off, instead of decommission entirely.
4 Badaran and Narik and Darnussian frigates specialising in anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare will participate; the 2 Kaliburg-class destroyers of Kalistani design - procured long before the war with Xsampa - will not, as they will be decommissioned by the end of the year.
The 2 Horizon-class destroyers of Canrillaise design, however, remain 100% operational according to 3rd Point Command.
The Deputy Secretary of Himmelshtern also added:
Quote:The primary purpose of this exercise is to work jointly with Egelion, as well as manufacturers and suppliers from both sides of the aisle, in order to display hardware capability for buyers over the course of the next few years.
[...] I cannot comment on whether these ships and their weapons systems will be sold to Egelion.
When asked about the slight geopolitical tension between Altea and Kaliburg, he commented:

We also remain ratifiers of the Ananto Strait Accords. So, we expect no problems with the Empire of Ananto and Kalistan; we will be sharing intel on our naval movements in the Anantonese Ocean with Kaliburg, as we travel to Egelion.
[...] I'm afraid I can't comment on the schedule nor location or locations of these naval exercises.
When asked about Lodamun's recent challenge to Selucia, the Migrant's Pass, and Kensington's association with the AE, he concluded:

Navy disbands Shahar Fleets

Himmelshtern, Narikaton and Darnussia - "An immense relief", was the response of the Deputy Secretary of Himmelshtern when asked about the impact of the disbandment of the remaining two carrier strike groups, following Egelion's confirmation of several purchases earlier this year. He was, of course, referring to the mounting debt and Himmelshtern's defence spending running on a deficit after 3 city states withdrew their budget.
Shahar Fleets were introduced in 5352 and served as Yishelem's manifestation of maritime power projection across the globe. Not one, two, 3 or ever 4 carrier strike groups - but a total of 9 came to pass and serve the world's biggest empire that never was.
Hundreds and hundreds of billions to form, modernise, replenish, replace, maintain and ultimately sink in 3 different seas.
The Reshout CSG was the first one, adjoining the Yeudi Fleet, former Beiteynu's first blue water formation. In an ironic twist of historical karma, the first to be introduced was the first one to be destroyed; by Lourenne, during the Hubris War, in the Sea of Lost Souls in 5472.
The Kasari CSG in Badara followed suit in the destruction, ending the Hubris War when Lourenne passed through the Aldegarian Canal, joined up with Kundrati and delivered the devastating surprise blow - its ruins now sitting in the depths of the Aldegarian Gulf, just north of Saridan.

Then came the Nahshol CSG; ultimately turned into a museum in the aftermath of the Hubris War.
The Mizrahi CSG's disbandment in South Dovani (Hanzen) sealed the deal of no influence in Dovani.
And of the old guard of carrier strike groups then came the disbandment of the Tafsik (Deterrent) CSG - the one rumoured to have been created to limit Dorvik's projections in the Red Bass Ocean - in 5480, marking the beginning of the end of former Beiteynu's global reach.
Shahar Fleets then turned into mini, agile formations with a small aircraft carrier of Narik, Darnussian and Yeudi design, and a total number of 6 to 9 warships at most, built around the Nekama-class cruisers; the first IRBM-capable warship of the now defunct Beiteynuese Naval Command. From Seko, Istalia and Lodamun, it was as if these renewed formations were used only as Beiteynu's dying, bark-no-bite, breath.
Kadima I was disbanded shortly after the foundation of the 3rd Point - and the subsequent formation of the 3rd Point Federation.
In June 5599, almost a century later, Xsampa destroyed Kadima II in the Vascanian Sea.
And we all know what happened a few months later.
