Gaduridos pledges manpower and financial aid to Mordusia to assist in the expansion of the Trans-Seleyan Railway; Hurrah for Pan-Seleyanism.
The Trans-Seleyan Railway has finally moved down south once again, as Mordusia has begun efforts to connect to it. However, due to the current economic state and general costs, Mordusia has requested help in construction efforts, and Gaduridos has marched up to help in any way it possibly can. The Gaduri government has pledged both financial aid to help Mordusia pay for the connection, and manpower to assist Mordusian workers in constructing the railway. As the Gaduri economy gets benefits from the Trans-Seleyan Railway, supporting it's expansion has been imperative to the success of not just Gaduridos, but all Seleyan states.
As such, it is hoped that Gaduri efforts can assist Mordusia in connecting to the Trans-Seleyan Railway, and ultimately benefit the Mordusian economy. For Gaduridos, supporting Mordusia is a no brainer. The expansion of the TSR is a net positive in every aspect, and will be a long term investment, not just for Gaduridos but generally for all Seleyan states connected. Alongside that, this simply fosters good will between Seleyans. Generally however, this effort will benefit Mordusia the most. As for the aid Gaduridos is giving, the manpower will help in constructing and reducing the amount of time on the effort, whilst financial aid will help in reducing the costs on Mordusia's part.
While fiscal conservatives yet again decry the MCS Presidency for more spending, it's expected that the long term investment from supporting Mordusia (alongside the Mordusian government looking to most of its oil from Gaduridos) will allow the spent money to be made up within a few years. Irregardless of that, this is a solid step for fostering good ties between Gaduridos and Mordusia, and will surely open the door to future cooperation. But in general, this is just a major win for Seleya, as the Trans-Seleyan Railway continues it's advance. With only 4 countries left to be connected in all of Seleya, many are optimistic that Valruzia, and Greater Canrille can be connected to the line in due time.

Restoring confidence in democracy; Election reforms and restoring trust in the government.
One of the biggest issues that the Gaduri Malaise faces is the economy. Seeing as the economy has been steadily improving, the second biggest issue of the Malaise has come about. Democracy. As it stands, Gaduri democracy has often been threatened by the far-right. The most famous example was the Dark 20s, where the far-right got elected into office and led the nation towards where it is now. As such, repairing trust and faith in the nations democracy is absolutely critical to establishing a thriving democracy. One of the easiest solutions (on paper) to ending the spectre of the far-right is to simply ban far-right politics. However, in reality, that is a rather difficult solution. Not only does it damage the idea that Gaduri democracy can thrive (every Gaduri is entitled to opinions, no matter how repugnant these opinions could be or how idealistic they can be), it'll also be nigh impossible to pass through the Supreme Court. Most Gaduri find themselves in agreement on that as well. Banning a portion of politics simply won't work, not should it be done. As such, another solution is needed to resolve this spectre.
The best way to do it? Improve the faith in democracy, and the government. Prevent radicalization, ensure that the people are represented and improve transparency in the government. The first step is to first establish a stronger voting system. It's pointless to improve Gaduri democracy if no one can vote. As such, the MCS Presidency has begun efforts at reforming how elections and ballots work. Upon reaching the age of majority, every Gaduri will be automatically registered to vote. This will help not only increase turn out, but show that everyone has the equal opportunity to have their voice heard and express it. At the very least, ensuring more people can vote is always a good way to ensure faith in democracy.
The second measure implementing more direct solutions. Feel your representative in the National Congress isn't representing you? Why not vote on the issue yourself? Of course, the government isn't asking people to vote directly on tax reform or all the boring stuff. Rather, the government is asking people to vote on constitutional issues, or issues with high public regard. A more experimental form of direct democracy, this will hopefully help encourage more talk and discussion, and show that yes, the people have a voice and will be heard!
As for reducing radicalization, we'd have to look into why it happens, and that's where the economy and education comes in. An educated society is more reasonable, and less susceptible to radicals. And a good economy prevents radicals and demagogues from even being considered. So, an education reform is likely going to be needed in the future as the economy continues to heal naturally. Small steps but, solid steps towards improving Gaduri Democracy.

María Camila Sánchez denies bid to run for second term; PSSG Presidential Nominee to be determined later in the year.
Surprise would be the word many Gaduri woke up to today as President MCS (María Camila Sánchez) has formally announced that she will not be running for a second term. Believing her job was to combat the Malaise and get everything back in order, she has instead left the decision of President Nominee to the PSSG to decide later this year, refusing to withdrawal any major names. As such, mass speculation has begun on who will be nominated by the PSSG later this year, and so far, a handful of major names have been speculated.
However, the effect of the MCS Presidency will truly show itself later this decade as the economy is expected to continue growing, the Tukvalgad Pipeline will be finished, and the results of the economic efforts MCS has pursued will bear fruit. As such, it is likely that while only serving one term, her work will have a major impact on Gaduridos for the foreseeable future.
Irregardless, as for the potential Presidential Nominees, while we won't know for certain until later this year, this hasn't stopped speculation and a handful of names have been proposed. The biggest so far are, Valerie Yepes, Abram Sancho, Alana Elvira and Emiliano Palau. All 4 names are known for something in Gaduridos, such as Yepes, a Garcian Socialist, advocating for a welfare state, Sancho, a more centrist politician being what would essentially be a continuation of MCS, Elvira being a "confederalist", and a radical Pan-Seleyan who has strongly come out in support of the North Seleyan Confederation, and Palau, who has advocated a more liberal form of social democracy.
While it's entirely possible that these 4 aren't even considered as options, it is the most likely outcome as the realist faction in the PSSG would push a realist candidate, the Garcian Socialists would want to try to win the nomination again, and the radicals have only found themselves displeased with how the Confederation was approached. As for Palau, perhaps his liberal minded outlook can resonate with the PSSG? Irregardless, the PSSG is expected to nominate a candidate later this year and we will find out who will be nominated for Presidency. Whether it's a Centrist, a Socialist, a Liberal or a Confederalist or none of them, we'll see later this year.

PSSG Nominates Valerie Yepes for 5561 Presidential Election; A Garcian Socialist to be President soon?
It's been speculated for a few months now on who the PSSG would nominate for the elections next year, as current President, MCS has rejected a bid for a second term. It would seem however, that initial speculations about who it would be, particularly Valerie Yepes, Abram Sancho, Alana Elvira and Emiliano Palau have been correct as all 4 were major candidates in the nomination bid. Before we go into detail on who was nominated, let's review the candidates at hand.
First, let's start off with the new faces. Emiliano Palau. Palau entered the nomination bid promoting a new direction for the PSSG, believing that the Gaduri Malaise could in fact be fought in a more effective and efficient manner with a more free market approach, and giving the private sector more support, reducing state interference and keeping the welfare status quo. You could call him a liberal, or you could call him a "third way"-ist. His ideals have largely put him in the right of the PSSG, as while most absolutely endorse the idea that the state should maintain itself in the economy, Palau thinks otherwise. His advocacy of liberalism could shake things up. While it also runs the slippery slope of no longer being social democracy, it has some merits to it.
Next in line, Alana Elvira. Being apart of the Radicals, who often are in stronger favour of integration with Seleya, Elvira has looked to secure the nomination after many radicals were strongly disappointed in MCS for rejecting the North Seleyan Confederation offer. She has advocated for attending the conference, even as an observer, fixing ties with the Confederation and ultimately lay the groundwork for Gaduridos to join it. Ultimately if she was nominated, it would truly be a radical Pan-Seleyan agenda, as she would largely focus on foreign affairs. However, she has often been criticized by sovereignists and more patriotic elements of society, who believe that Gaduridos must respect its own self-sovereignty.
Next is Abram Sancho. A firm realist in the PSSG, he would continue the status quo and the type of governance that MCS has shown. A perfect pick for moderates and centrists, he has advocated for not rocking the boat too much. He essentially would be a continuation of the MCS Presidency. Maintain the status quo, continue fighting the Malaise and improve the nations wellbeing. He enjoys solid support amongst centrists, moderates and those who want to keep the stream going without upset.
The final nominee, is Valerie Yepes. A notable Garcian Socialist, she has looked to secure the nomination and put the Garcian Socialists back into the spotlight, as they were 40 years ago. She has advocated for the establishment of a "social state", believing in a strong welfare system, shared wealth with all Gaduri and fighting the Malaise through a new lens. She faces considerable opposition due to being a Garcian Socialist, but her welfare proposals, which even have the motto, "From Womb to Tomb" have managed to carry her to the nomination bid, so she has a genuine chance to secure the nomination.
And secure the nomination she did. Her ambitious platform of strong welfare, internal economic cooperation, and uniting against the Malaise has swayed the PSSG to nominate her for Presidency. For the first time in 40 years, a Garcian Socialist will be on the ballot for Presidency. Whether the public will be convinced however, is an entirely different hurdle. With some skeptical of her due to the socialist title, she may face significant opposition from the right. As fiscal conservatives already sound the alarm over the possibility of more spending, others have supported her for expanding welfare, believing that it will be vital to fighting the Malaise. However, she has also faced skepticism from the left. Particularly the far-left. Her economic cooperation advocation has seen her compared to a corporatist and as such has been a hard turn away for more left wing voters. However, the general voting block of the PSSG, that being the youth, students, progressives, and general social democratic voters have remained behind her. It's a long way to October, but it is likely she'll be elected.

Valerie Yepes elected President of Gaduridos; Promises to end the Malaise by the end of the decade, start the Thousand Roses Campaign, and improve living standards.
The results of the October 5561 elections have concluded with Valerie Yepes prevailing. This was rather expected. With the PSSG retaining it's super majority, it can continue developing the nation as it would. The election of a socialist to the highest office in the land is not something new, but not something super common for Gaduridos. But this election has received notable interest for the policies Yepes has pledged.
First things first, the Malaise. It has gotten better under MCS, and the economy has improved since the last election. However, Yepes has pledged to end the Malaise before the end of the decade. She has stated that the Malaise can and will be ended by the end of the decade, and that the 60s will not be another decade of despair, but one of hope and optimism. And this ties indirectly to her initial plan, the Campaña Mil Rosas (Thousand Roses Campaign) which should not only skyrocket living standards but help the economy as well.
Yepes has called for several new rights to be given to Gaduri. The right to a living wage, the right to adequate housing, the right to medical care, the right to social security, the right to education and the right to be free from unfair economic competition. She has pledged to establish a strong welfare state, and what she calls a "social state", fight unemployment with government programs and develop a more fair Republic. Her motto, which got her nominated (that being, "From Womb to Tomb") has shown how far her welfare policies will go. From birth to death, every Gaduri will be supported. Despite being a socialist, her economic plans are rather moderate, or more in fact, cooperative. She has rejected the idea of class warfare, and focused on "class cooperation" for a better Gaduridos.
Yepes has a radical equitable vision for Gaduridos, but her first 4 years will show if the Gaduri want to keep her in office. With the Tukvalgad Pipeline close to completion (ready to be done next year), it will also be a possibility to show a new foreign policy or maintain the status quo there. However, what has been noticed is an eerie silence on the Confederation northwards, with Yepes not giving any comments. Irregardless, her plans don't stop at welfare. For improving the economy, as stated aforementioned, she has shown support for using government programs. Perhaps we may see a public works initiative on the horizon? Her goals to establish a social state have also received interest. She was elected because of it after all.
With her election, we can really start to expect more government efforts to boost the economy, raise living standards and improve the lives of all Gaduri. Whether she can live up to her ambitious agenda is yet to be seen, but it'll certainly be an interesting 4 years ahead. Whether it's for welfare, a social state, or her class collaboration rhetoric, she faces opposition from some of the PSSG, and from some aspects of society. Yet she also has support. It remains to be seen on if she will achieve her goals.

Social Security Administration created to ensure future welfare is adequately distributed; The right to social security begins.
Among many of the pledged Yepes campaigned on, the right to credible, adequate social security was one of many promises. In the Thousand Roses Campaign, this has been chosen as the start. As it stands, the Gaduri welfare system is inadequate. It gets the job done, sure, but it's ineffective and poor in quality. Today however, it is being revamped, and the Yepes Administration is proud to create the Administración de la Seguridad Social (Social Security Administration), otherwise known as ASS. The goal of ASS is to ensure every Gaduri can receive welfare in an adequate manner, and ensure poverty can be brought down. The focus will be primarily on Gaduri falling below the poverty line. Get those falling rapidly on their feet, and the ASS can focus efforts on supporting the rest of Gaduri society.
As such, besides those beneath the poverty line, those who are unable to work due to physical, intellectual or mental disability, the elder, the retired, and even students will receive social security benefits, to ensure that they can either enjoy the fruits of labour, have adequate support, or ensure that they can focus entirely on their studies. This will ensure that those in absolute need of support can be supported quickly. Social Security will focus on ensuring that no Gaduri ever again has to go hungry or homeless. Not only is it morally right, but it has pragmatic benefits for the cold hearted. Support those in need, and they can be put on track to working and sustaining themselves, allowing the ASS to focus elsewhere, and allow those individuals to contribute to the economy.
The establishment of ASS is the first step in the Thousand Roses Campaign, and the first in completing the rights that Yepes has campaigned on. Not only that, but it will help millions of Gaduri and contribute to economic growth in the long term. Who knew helping the poor is actually a good idea? While the only negatives so far are coming from fiscal conservatives, who worry spending too much will only hurt Gaduridos, it's anticipated that social security help Gaduridos in the long run. Being one of many rights that Yepes wants guaranteed to every Gaduri, social security is set to be the founding block for building up the Gaduri welfare state, and making it something truly notable. Until then, millions of Gaduri can breathe a sigh of relief as the ASS comes to the rescue of many and provides relief and support for struggling Gaduri.

Tukvalgad Pipeline completed; Valruzia, Tukarali and Gaduridos anticipated to reap the benefits immensely.
The long awaited Tukvalgad Pipeline has finally been finished. Despite being a rather expensive endeavour, the economic benefits are expected to be immense, canceling out the spent money. Whatever the case, the pipeline, going from Vintalli to Valruzia is expected to bring in solid amounts of growth for all 3 nations involved. While the press of each nation can cover the respective benefits for themselves, for Gaduridos, it's expected to be positives all around as not only is Gaduri oil put to use, but Gaduridos will be getting growth, development and most importantly, money from the pipeline being put to use.
However, being a pet project of Pan-Seleyan diplomacy, a question has been raised on whether another pipeline should be considered northwards to share prosperity with other Seleyan states. While expensive, the benefits could make it worth the cost, both in economic growth and goodwill. While so far, no new pipeline has been considered, largely due to the costs, the possibility is there should another initiative be required with other Seleyan states. Whatever the case, the Tukvalgad Pipeline will bring development and growth for Gaduridos.
As oil continues to define the Gaduri economy, both in Seleya and aboard, the economic benefits of the pipeline will continue providing economic growth for Gaduridos, Tukarali and Valruzia. The completion of the pipeline also does lay down a basis for future cooperation between the 3 states. Whether there will be future cooperation is yet to be seen, but the possibility is always there.

Social State Act set to pass in National Congress; Concerns and worries arise over the Social State Act.
One of the promises set forth by the Yepes Presidency was the creation of a social state. While on paper, this sounds like something fantastic, and has been described as a state with cooperation between all citizens in mind, in reality, it seems to require a few broken eggs to achieve. The Social State Act has been put into the National Congress, looking to limit the rights of unions in regards to how they strike and negotiate. Immediately, this has set off red alarms across the entire left spectrum. After all, the PSSG has always been a strong supporter of unions, and now they are moving to limit the unions right to negotiate and strike? With several PSSG moderates coming to oppose the Social State Act vocally, the PSSG is set to narrowly pass in the National Congress.
With most notable opposition coming from Garcian Socialists and Realists in the PSSG, a question has been floating around: Is Yepes really a socialist? What kind of socialist limits the rights of unions? With the PSSG fighting itself, Yepes is set to redefine Gaduri Socialism to fit her corporatist vision for society. Defenders of the act have assured that this bill will not limit the rights of unions, but simply involve the government more, and ensure that the government is able to force negotiations between unions and owners. This is supposedly to ensure that a cooperative society can be established. However, as Yepes continues to promote welfare reforms, she has become rather polarizing to the Gaduri public.
While it's clear her vision of Gaduri Socialism is firmly rejecting Metzist thought, other Garcian Socialists have only increased their opposition to her, with a handful even being expelled or leaving the PSSG outright. They have claimed that Yepes is looking to limit the rights of the unions entirely, and disarm the rights of Gaduri workers. Whether that's true or not, the Social State Act will most likely pass unless more defections occur to the PSSG dissidents. As the party fights itself, Yepes will need to walk a tight role between pushing her agenda, pleasing the party, and the public at large.
Whatever the case, her promise of class collaboration may be true, as Yepes looks to ensure a united, cooperative society in Gaduridos. While critics and more orthodox socialists oppose her, she has found support amongst moderates paradoxically, and of course, socialists sympathetic to her. It's made very much clear that her opposition to Metzist Socialism will be something at the forefront of her Social State. Irregardless, her welfare reforms have also assisted in keeping her popular. Polarizing as she is, she has dedicated herself to the enrichment of Gaduridos. Whether the unions will be grateful in 5565 is anyone's guess however.

National Housing Administration created; Homelessness to be fought.
The Thousand Roses Campaign continues on, and it seems this has led to the creation of the Administración Nacional de Vivienda (National Housing Administration), with the goal of providing affordable quality public housing for all Gaduri. The ANV will play an instrumental role in the Thousand Roses Campaign, and will be vital to providing every Gaduri with the lost valuable treasure; a home. As such, the main focus for the ANV will be providing permanent housing for Gaduri in homeless shelters or in an unstable housing situation. Working with ASS, the ANV will be able to provide shelter with millions of Gaduri who find themselves isolated without a home. The main competent of this social housing effort will be that they are affordable, and decent quality. As per the Expanded Rights as promised by Yepes, every Gaduri is entitled to a house of decent quality. The ANV will be responsible for delivering on that promise.
With that in mind, efforts have begun on construction of social housing across the country, to both provide houses for the homeless, and ensure future housing can be available for any who slip through the cracks. These efforts will be absolutely necessary to create a more better Gaduridos, and to show that the government will not abandon any Gaduri whatsoever. Social housing will ensure that every Gaduri can have a roof over their head, and warmth for the nights as they get back on their feet.
These efforts will take time to show the effects, but one effect that is certain is that this will be major push to fighting poverty. While it's by far not the last in fighting poverty in Gaduridos, the Thousand Roses Campaign has focused heavily on fighting poverty. The gradual creation of a Gaduri Welfare State is coming about, but there is always more to be done. There still are the other Expanded Rights, such as the right to adequate healthcare, right to a living wage, right to education and the right to freedom from unfair competition. Whilst two expanded rights have been addressed so far, the rest are still yet to be addressed. But as the Yepes Presidency continues to expand its horizons, these rights are expected to be established.
Ultimately, the fight against poverty will be a long one, but the ANV will play a major role in acting as logistics, to ensure every Gaduri has a house, and the fight against poverty can be kneecapped, and kept from rejuvenating (ie through homelessness rising). Social housing will ensure affordability and comfort, so that every Gaduri may be entitled to a prosperous happy life.
