RE: New Englia - Elena1012 - 22-03-2025 Waging economic warfare against insurgencies; Rural Investment Fund created to provide support for rural New Englia. ------------------------ August 13th, 5628 ------------------------ As the crisis continues on, efforts are needed to stabilize and cut down on recruitment efforts for the IDF and KLF. As such, the MacGannon Government has looked to invest into rural communities. It's one thing to stabilize them, but it's not enough. These communities need jobs and stability to trust the government. As such, efforts have begun to provide economic aid to rural communities. Whether it be Infrastructure, job creation or anything else, there are two goals. Provide economic stability for rural communities, and ensure that the KLF and IDF don't have any means to recruit. As such, the creation of the New Englian Emergency Job Corps (NEEJC) has been created, with the goal of ensuring stable government provides jobs. The NEEJC will focus on constructing rural infrastructure. This not only employes people, keeping them away from the insurgents, but it will also provide economic stability via infrastructure development, which is sorely needed. These efforts will be vital the restoring trust in the government, and restoring basic economic stability in rural communities. The more the insurgents are snuffed of recruitment possibilities, the better. ------------------------ The Public Record is a nonpartisan, independent media outlet, dedicated to rational, independent, civil discussions and reportings of events that occur within New Englia, and events that occur outside of New Englia. RE: New Englia - Elena1012 - 25-03-2025 Operation: Firecracker a partial success; KLF suffers losses whilst IDF maintains momentum ![]() ---------------------- May 3rd, 5629 ---------------------- Operation Firecracker has concluded to mixed results. While it did stabilize portions of rural New Englia, and prevent escalating the situation immensely, it didn't succeed in its original goal of crippling the KLF and IDF. Not entirely. For New Englian Security Forces and Counter Insurgency Forces, it was largely a success. KLF insurgents were pushed back from some rural communities and took hits. For the KLF, sizable damage was done to insurgents and this serves as a propaganda victory. With Kilani Rural New Englia being secured, at least portions of it, the KLF is limited in recruiting and operational efficiency. While negotiations to the conflict are still unfeasible and the KLF still is capable of fighting, the AUC can take comfort in this victory against the KLF. It's opened the door for pressing the advantage, and dealing more damage to the KLF, pushing them to the point where they may have to negotiate outright. An optimistic goal, but still plausible, even if it'll take time. For the IDF however, it was more difficult. IDF insurgents were able to hold their ground, weirdly enough. Reports have emerged about IDF insurgents being armed with foreign weaponry and even some (presumed) mercenaries. Whether these reports are true or not, the IDF managed to hold firm against Operation Firecracker. So while a victory against the KLF can be claimed, a victory against the IDF can't. They still hold strong recruiting capabilities and a strong ability to fight, plus with those unconfirmed reports. In any case, the IDF remains the biggest threat, likely having fully incorporated the IFF and other far-right paramilitaries into it's fold. With the KLF taking a hit, it may be best for the AUC to focus attention on the IDF. But for now, small gains are still gains. ---------------------- The Public Record is a nonpartisan, independent media outlet, dedicated to rational, independent, civil discussions and reportings of events that occur within New Englia, and events that occur outside of New Englia. RE: New Englia - Elena1012 - 28-03-2025 AUC begins renewed focus on the IDF; As KLF reels from losses, the IDF stands firm. ------------------------- February 9th, 5630 ------------------------- With Operation Firecracker having done moderate damage to the KLF as a whole, the IDF has remained the biggest concern for the AUC. As such, efforts have begun to specifically target the IDF now due to their stronger position compared to the KLF, and the looking possibility of foreign support for the IDF. While officially, the AUC does believe that the IDF is not receiving foreign support or even support from mercenaries, the rumour has spread like wildfire and while there's no confirmation officially, there's also no official denial. In any case, efforts have begun on targeting the IDF. Similar to Operation Firecracker, Special Counter Insurgency units and Security Forces will be used to raid IDF strongholds, with a specific focus on weapon caches, recruitment centres and rural base of operations. The goal is to wear down the IDFs combat infrastructure and strain their ability to fight. A special focus is being made to prevent civilian casualties from occuring to prevent further radicalization. Should this effort be successful, the IDF can be knocked down a peg and brought down to a similar level like the KLF. Speaking of the KLF, as they reel from Operation Firecracker, it's clear that the KLF Is on the backfoot. While they haven't signaled any willingness to negotiate, what few sources that are able to get onto touch with them have confirmed that the KLF is looking for aid from "global nations united in fighting for self-determination and freedom of oppressed peoples". If true, then it means that the KLF is also looking for foreign aid as they lick their wounds. In any case, the main focus of the AUC is on the IDF. Whether the efforts succeed or not, we can only hope for the best. ------------------------- The Public Record is a nonpartisan, independent media outlet, dedicated to rational, independent, civil discussions and reportings of events that occur within New Englia, and events that occur outside of New Englia. RE: New Englia - Elena1012 - 31-03-2025 IDF Offensive fails catastrophically; IDF momentum accelerated as AUC scrambles. ---------------------------- November 2nd, 5631 ---------------------------- The recent offensive against the IDF has concluded. The goal was to cripple the IDF and bring them down several pegs. Unfortunately, the results have been anything but unideal. The offensive has failed. The IDF not only held their ground but secured control of new communities. This catastrophic failure has emboldened the IDF and empowered the IDF. With the offensive being a failure, the All-Unity Coalition is in disarray as cracks have emerged in the coalition. With the KLF still reeling from Operation Firecracker, the IDF remains the biggest threat, and now the threat is only escalated twentyfold. With the possibility of the IDF actually threatening coastal areas and even Lonmouth, the question of whether this has escalated into a civil war or just an insurgency has been asked about, but more importantly, the question has been on whether the AUC can even win against the IDF. Whether it be due to incompetence, foreign support for the IDF, or even internal sabotage, the IDF remains the biggest threat. As such, Parliament has been ablaze with various proposals. Some have proposed calling for foreign aid, from states such as Beluzia or Luthori, whilst more left wing members have even proposed negotiations with the KLF to present a united front against the IDF entirely. While PM MacGannon has focused on reassuring the AUC, and ensuring basic stability after such a catastrophic failure. ---------------------------- The Public Record is a nonpartisan, independent media outlet, dedicated to rational, independent, civil discussions and reportings of events that occur within New Englia, and events that occur outside of New Englia. Whether it be MacGannon going to Luthori, Foreign Aid and Foreign Legions arriving to assist in the fight against the IDF and even Kilani Nationalists approaching, moderate nationalists, approaching the AUC for negotiations. With several developments occuring, it's best to break it down. Starting off with MacGannon going to Luthori. Prime Minister MacGannon has gone to Fort William to not only foster closer ties, but also ensure a steady stream of aid and ensure that Luthori is on the same page as the New Englian government regarding the ongoing Years of Lead and the threat from both the KLF and IDF. Second, the foreign legions. Various nations have, rather surprisingly taken an interest in New Englia and have pledged immense aid. Egelion, Hutori, Luthori, even the questionable status of Etxea has pledged aid. Equipment and especially volunteers have been sent, with the foreign aid likely if not certainly going to even the playing field against the IDF. Mechanized infantry, battle hardened veterans, these foreign legions will be immensely beneficial in bringing about peace to New Englia. While the IDF has continued to terrorize Kilani communities, they have also begun to embrace a more ultra nationalist approach, targeting individuals and such from other countries, such as Beluzia. As the question of foreign aid to the IDF remains unanswered, reports have emerged of the IDF having foreign mercenaries at their side, speaking an Artanian language. While these reports are yet to be verified, and are questionable due to their vagueness, it would be alarming, if not for the foreign legions coming to assist New Englia. And finally, the most shocking development. Ever since Firecracker, the KLF has been relegated to minor attacks and licking its wounds. It was assumed they'd rebuild and return to attacking. Yet with foreign legions arriving, and the threat of the IDF, it seems those assumptions died rather quickly as moderate Kilani nationalists have willingly chosen to enter negotiations with the AUC. While negotiations are not yet scheduled, both sides have accepted the offer and it is likely that negotiations will begin soon between the AUC and Moderate Kilani Nationalists. Where the KLF plays into this is hard to say. With moderates leaving them, their ability to fight is reduced significantly, and they could threaten the negotiations. While obviously hardliners will oppose and keep fighting, it is entirely likely that the KLF can outright lay down its arms if amnesty is promised. Whatever the case, for the first time in a long time, things are starting to look up for New Englia. With foreign aid arriving, we can only hope for a quick end to this conflict. -------------------- The Public Record is a nonpartisan, independent media outlet, dedicated to rational, independent, civil discussions and reportings of events that occur within New Englia, and events that occur outside of New Englia. RE: New Englia - Elena1012 - 04-04-2025 Operation Hammerdown begins as a renewed offensive against the IDF begins; Negotiations begin in Lonmouth as a Confederation deal is floated. ------------------------ November 2nd, 5631 ------------------------ The MacGannon government has looked to take advantage of its new advantages and has begun Operation Hammerdown, looking to utilize foreign legions and foreign aid to bring down the IDF en masse. From what has been shared with news sources, Operation Hammerdown will target supply lines to cut off IDF fighters, encirclement and containment, and strengthen counter insurgency operations. The goal is to completely cripple the IDF and force a surrender, or force them to the negotiating table. Meanwhile for the KLF, it seems they've begun having some infighting due to moderates accepting the negotiation offer. Before we expand on that, let's dive further into these negotiations. In Lonmouth, representatives of the KLF and the AUC meet to begin negotiations regarding a sustainable long term peace. And while negotiations haven't concluded, various proposals have floated about, likely to be accepted. For starters, amnesty for fighters who haven't committed war crimes, and amnesty for remaining fighters who lay down arms. Alongside this, New Englia would be reformed into a confederation, with Kilani communities have the right to govern themselves freely. This confederation proposal would see a form of 3 systems, one country kind of solution. The Kilani Free Region, Bridgemont and the Inglian Core Region would be the 3 regions within this Confederation. The KFR would be governed by Kilani, the ICR by Inglian and Bridgemont wound be governed by the Federal Government. All states would have the right to govern their own affairs, including education, language, culture, and economics. Foreign affairs, monetary policy, and defense would remain under the Federal Government. As such, while hardline Kilani nationalists may reject it due to the lack of independence, and hardliners in the AUC may oppose it due to amnesty, the confederation proposal is likely to be accepted and enacted once the IDF is brought down. And with rumours circulating about moderate Inglian nationalists wanting to negotiate, it is likely that Operation Hammerdown will see the Years of Lead come to a close. Even if it fails, it will be one step closer to peace, and if it succeeds, the IDF can be crushed, and peace can return as the Confederation Proposal is likely to be enacted. ------------------------ The Public Record is a nonpartisan, independent media outlet, dedicated to rational, independent, civil discussions and reportings of events that occur within New Englia, and events that occur outside of New Englia. RE: New Englia - Elena1012 - 08-04-2025 Operation Hammerdown successful as Foreign Legions assist in crippling the IDF; KLF accepts Confederation Proposal as IDF suffers setback after setback. ![]() ----------------------------- November 8th, 5632 ----------------------------- Operation Hammerdown had found immense success. For once, AUC security forces have engaged the IDF, and found major success. Of course, this success can be attributed to foreign legions helping. Regardless of that, the success of Operation Hammerdown has been immense as compared to the Foreign Legions, the IDF was shattered. While they still are combat capable, any advantages they had prior have been removed. And despite potential fanaticism, it's clear that, at this rate, the IDF is heading towards total defeat. As such, this loops back to the Confederation Proposal which has been accepted by both the AUC, the KLF, and even defectors from the IDF, desperate to salvage whatever they can from the success of Operation Hammerdown. As such, with the Confederation Proposal being ratified, New Englia has been transformed into a Confederation between Inglian and Kilani. While the IDF is still a nuisance, the crisis is largely coming to an end. Security forces will remain mobilized, and of course the Foreign Legions will be asked to stay until the IDF is fully destroyed. But that aside, efforts can begin on rebuilding and restoring trust. Elections have been scheduled for next year, as a sense of cautious optimism has re-emerged. While the Confederation has many doubts and hesitations, there is a chance to ensure peace once the IDF is fully removed. And in regards to those elections, the AUC will dissolve once elections are held, and all parties have announced their intents to run in the election. MacGannon has found moderately high approval ratings but has declined any hint of running. In any case, the Years of Lead are coming to a close. ----------------------------- The Public Record is a nonpartisan, independent media outlet, dedicated to rational, independent, civil discussions and reportings of events that occur within New Englia, and events that occur outside of New Englia. RE: New Englia - myungpartikrasi - 05-01-2026 ![]() McDermott Sworn In After 56 Days of Political Deadlock Liberal leader forms government following protracted negotiations marked by regional tensions and cabinet disputes 5 February 5701 LONMOUTH — Owen McDermott was sworn in as Prime Minister yesterday, bringing to a close 56 days of fractious negotiations that followed December's general election. The ceremony, conducted by Lord Chancellor Peter Odhrán O'Fahy-Hudson, marks the first Liberal-led administration since 5685—and the first time in the party's history that it has been led by a Kilani statesman. The prolonged formation process exposed deep fault lines in New Englia's consociationalist system, with the Inglian Administrative Zone's Chief Executive Emma Ritchie at the centre of a dispute that nearly derailed the government's formation. For the first time since the Confederation Proposal was approved in 5632, all parties forming the government are now led by Kilani politicians—a development that has bred considerable disquiet among the Inglian-dominated Conservative People's Party and what observers term the "Concentratalist" benches. The House of Delegates, New Englia's 301-seat parliament elected through instant runoff voting, returned a dramatic result on 12 December 5700. McDermott's Liberal Party surged from just 22 seats to 134—the biggest single-election jump in the Confederation's history—yet still fell 17 seats short of the 151 needed for majority government. To cross the threshold, the Liberals turned to the Popular Democratic Alliance, a Hosian democratic party holding 18 seats, forming a coalition with a precarious two-seat working majority. The Social Democratic Workers' Party collapsed from a commanding 189 seats in the 5696 elections to just 72—its worst performance since the Confederation's founding. The Conservative People's Party holds 56 seats, whilst the Republican Socialist Party claimed 15. Six independents and minor party representatives make up the remainder. Former Prime Minister Finlo Galloway, who had led the SDWP since 5694, announced his resignation as party leader on election night whilst agreeing to serve as caretaker prime minister during the formation period. The party subsequently elected Lee O'Carolan, an Inglian secular socialist from Lonmouth, as its new leader. During the campaign, the SDWP had touted the possibility of a "grand coalition" with the Liberals, positioning itself as a bridge between communities—a proposition that would ultimately be rejected. The CPP's demands centred on three key policy areas and cabinet representation. First, the party insisted on a comprehensive plan to exploit oil reserves off the coast of County Solnard in the Inglian Administrative Zone, arguing that revenue from hydrocarbon extraction should flow primarily to the zone where resources are located. McDermott, committed to fiscal restraint and wary of volatile commodity markets, was reluctant to commit to large-scale extraction. Second, Ritchie and the CPP demanded the immediate expulsion of the Xsampan ambassador. The communist state had been a flashpoint in New Englian politics after the Galloway government negotiated a trade and investments deal with Xsampa—a decision that ultimately brought down the administration when the CPP successfully wedged a parliamentary resolution on the issue between SDWP moderates and democratic socialists. Third, the CPP insisted McDermott commit to implementing the Railway Revitalisation Plan produced by Galloway's government. The ambitious infrastructure scheme carries a price tag McDermott considers fiscally irresponsible. "We simply do not have the fiscal room to embark on major capital investments without risking the stability of our public finances," McDermott told delegates during formation talks. Beyond policy, the CPP demanded cabinet seats in Justice, Interior, and Commerce—portfolios that would give the party substantial influence over law enforcement, internal security, and economic regulation. CPP leader Cillian Thomson-Haines, a personal friend of McDermott's from their days in provincial politics, privately indicated he considered the demands excessive, but was bound by his parliamentary caucus. McDermott initially attempted to form a cabinet with the CPP, but after weeks of negotiations, the party's standards proved insurmountable. "We came to the table prepared to work constructively," one Liberal source said. "But the CPP kept raising the bar until it became clear they were negotiating in bad faith." The impasse dragged on through the New Year, with caretaker Prime Minister Galloway presiding over a skeleton administration. Ritchie's rhetoric grew increasingly inflammatory, emphasising the ethnic composition of the prospective government and warning of Inglian marginalisation. The Republican Socialist Party issued a scathing critique of Ritchie's approach. RSP leader Dáithí Ó Brádaigh sarcastically suggested that "perhaps Chief Executive Ritchie should stand for party chair of the Conservative People's Party, given how much effort she's putting into their negotiating position." He later added: "What Ritchie is doing—making everything about ethnicity, turning policy disputes into communal grievances—is a surefire way to find embers of sectarianism reigniting like crazy. We didn't end the Years of Lead just to have politicians throw petrol on old wounds whenever it suits their political calculus." The breakthrough came through intervention by O'Fahy-Hudson, who was elected Lord Chancellor in 5693. An Inglian-Kilani priest from Measmore in the Sliabh Ard mountains, O'Fahy-Hudson served as dean of Bridgemont Cathedral during the Years of Lead and became a prominent face of the nonviolence movement. His unique credibility—his mother was Inglian, his father Kilani—proved crucial in bridging ethnic and regional divisions. O'Fahy-Hudson convened closed-door meetings at Bridgemont House in late January, bringing together McDermott, Ritchie, and Deirdre Gruagáin, Chief Executive of the Kilani Free Zone. Gruagáin, a member of the Social Democratic Worker's Party, reportedly told negotiators she was "livid" that Ritchie would attempt to hold the process hostage. "A party that refuses to back the Prime Minister in a confidence vote has no moral standing to demand seats at the cabinet table," Gruagáin said. McDermott ultimately broke the deadlock by announcing he would form a cabinet without CPP participation, turning instead to the PDA. The agreement saw the PDA receive three ministerial portfolios, including the crucial Ministry of Justice, which went to PDA leader Eóin Ó Slatara. "This government represents a new chapter for New Englia," Ó Slatara said after taking his oath of office. "We are not a Kilani government. We are not an Inglian government. We are a New Englian government, and we will serve all the people of this Confederation." The ministry allocations were carefully calibrated to signal cross-community intent. McDermott appointed Siobhán Ní Dhomhnaill, a Liberal delegate of mixed Kilani-Inglian heritage, as Minister of Finance. The Ministry of Energy went to Thomas Blackwell, an Inglian Liberal from Redford's industrial heartlands, whilst the Ministry of Infrastructure was assigned to Maeve Ó Ceallaigh, a Kilani Liberal with deep roots in the Sliabh Ard communities. O'Carolan, the new SDWP leader who will serve as Leader of the Opposition, expressed disappointment at being excluded from consideration despite the party's campaign emphasis on grand coalition possibilities. "We would have preferred a broader coalition that included the Liberals and us," O'Carolan said in his response to the Prime Minister's first address to the House. "But we recognise that Prime Minister McDermott has put together a government within the constitutional framework, and we will hold them to account on policy, not on ethnicity. The people of New Englia are tired of politicians who reach for the ethnic card every time they face a political setback." Ritchie released a statement describing the new government as "illegitimate in spirit if not in law," arguing that any administration without Inglian participation in senior roles cannot claim to represent the Confederation's diversity. The CPP has signalled it will oppose the government's legislative agenda at every turn. Thomson-Haines expressed "deep disappointment" at the outcome whilst noting his continued personal regard for McDermott. McDermott's first major test will come within weeks, when his government presents its federal budget to the House. The Prime Minister has pledged to stabilise New Englia's modest oil and gas sector through measured development rather than rapid extraction, and has promised targeted investment in the Sliabh Ard communities where poverty rates remain high. On the Railway Revitalisation Plan, McDermott has indicated he will commission a revised, more fiscally modest version. On foreign policy, he has signalled continuity with previous administrations, maintaining diplomatic relations with Xsampa whilst expressing concern over its domestic policies. As McDermott took his oath of office yesterday, administered by O'Fahy-Hudson in the chamber of the House of Delegates, he spoke of his hopes for the Confederation. "I know that my election as Prime Minister has caused discomfort in some quarters," McDermott said. "I know there are those who believe that someone who looks like me, who speaks like me, who comes from where I come from, cannot lead a government for all New Englians. To those people, I say: watch what we do, not who we are. Judge us on our policies, our competence, our commitment to fairness. That is all I ask." The question now is whether McDermott's two-seat majority can survive the full parliamentary term, or whether regional tensions and the CPP's determination to oppose the government will force an early return to the polls. |
