Intense Fighting in Bianca Along Kalopian Border

September 5591

The spring fighting season has kicked off with Mutahad Kargar Gond forces attacking west from the capital Oda to the Saspainian border crossing city of Bianca as they attempt to reopen lines of communication between the capital and Kalopia. The attack has caught Jaish-e Ahmadi forces by surprise, and MKG forces have gained control of most of the city. This represents a major success for leftist forces in Solentia, a year after a failed Jaish-e Ahmadi attack on the capital Oda.

Refugees attempt to enter Kalopia but are pushed back

Kalopia closed its border with Solentia at the start of the conflict, but this has not stopped thousands of refugees attempting to flee west from the embattled city. They continue to be denied access, which is causing concerns amongst international humanitarian aid charities who suggest thousands are at risk of malnutrition.

Abadi Tribes Rise in Northern Solentia

October 5591

As fighting in Solentia is focused in southern Saspain Wilayat near the capital Oda and the border city of Bianca, Abadi tribes have formed militia groups in northern Solentia along the border with Kafuristan. Abadi's are an Ahmadi religious minority in Solentia, forming about 6% of the population, mainly in the northern Saspain and Dostropo Wilayat. During previous conflicts the Abadi have often resorted to arms to resist radical Israeist Ahmadists, such as the Jaish-e Ahmadi militia, the armed wing of Hezb-e Ahmadi. The Abadi's in northern Solentia have usually looked to Kafuristan for support, but the present generation of Kafuri leadership have yet to comment on the war in Solentia, or offer any support to their co-religionists. At this time there is no reporting of violence in northern Solentia, althoigh Jaish-e Ahmadi are reported to have moved some fighters towards the northern border.

Ahmadi State Training Camps in Solentia

November 5591

Reporting from Majatra indicates that Ahmadi State in Majatra (ASIM) may be flexing its muscles ready for a new offensive. Taking advantage of the ongoing civil war, ASIM operatives are said to have established training camps in the isolated and mountainous Saspain Wilayat. Propaganda videos have been doing the rounds on radical Ahmadist websites, in some cases showing local Solentian children being trained with firearms, others showing potential fighters conversing in a number of languages including the local Dudmani, Majatran, Kalopian, Turjak and Jelbek. At this time it is unknown whether ASIM have relcoated to Solentia to support the Ahmadists fighting secularists in that country, or whether ASIM aims to look at re-expansion in Jakania which has lacked central government for decades.

Latest from Solentia as the Summer Fighting Season draws to an end

February 5592

The summer 5591-5592 fighting season is slowly petering out as Solentia heads towards the autumn. There have been various changes to the front line, most notably the Mutahad Kargar Gond sizure of the Kalopian-Solentian border city of Bianca, Abadi militia seizing the northern border city of Bovotho, and Jaish-e Ahmadi making incremental gains in rural Dostropo and Thepinesne Wilayat. However much of the country remains relatively peaceful as both sides are hampered by poor logistics. The seizure of Bianca has improved lines of communication for MKG forces into the capital oda, but has also opened up a corridor for refugees trying to flee into neighbouring Kalopia. The Abadi seizure of Bovotho has provided a potential entry point for Kafuristan forces should they wish to intervene following their military victory over Istalia.

International Interest in the Conflict

Given tensions in wider Terra between the major powers and the recent end of the conflict between Kafuristan and Istalia, international interest in the largely self-contained conflict has been limited. Only neighboring Kalopia which has been impacted by an influx of refugees has commented on the conflict, with the Kalopian political leadership concerned about a potential refugee crisis, cross-border militancy and regional instability. International counter-terrorism experts are also concerned at the possibility of Ahmadi State in Majatra developing a footprint inside Solentia and potentially using the unstable nation as a launch pad for terrorist attacks.

Mutahad Kargar Gond Collapse Across Southern Solentia

November 5592

Three months after Jaish-e Ahmadi initiated their latest spring offensive the map of control across Caistra and Nalia Wilayat has been transformed. Mutahad Kargar Gond (MKG) control has collapsed in these Wilayat, with three major cities falling to Jaish-e Ahmadi. These represents the largest change in territorial control since the start of the conflict, and see MKG areas of control broken into four separate areas. The capital Oda remains under MKG control, but its lines of communication to the southern port cities have all been closed, with the only route out of the city west to Bianca and the Kalopian border.

Jaish-e Ahmadi fighters moved rapidly through Caistra Wilayat.

The Jaish-e Ahmadi spring offensive commenced with a major push towards the Nalian city of Igy. A month of fighting led to Jaish-e Ahmadi taking control of the central valleys of Nalia Wilayat and restricting MKG to the south and south-east of the Wilayat. This was followed up by a push towards the Caistran city of Mostates. What followed was completely unexpected as the MKG front line simply collapsed allowing Jaish-e Ahmadi to advance rapidly seizing most of the Wilayat within weeks, leaving only the southern ports of Canneante and Caodo in MKG hands.

What Happened in Caistra?

Caistra had fiercely resisted Jaish-e Ahamdi since the start of the conflict and had good reason to do so. Caistra is a much more moderate region than the rest of the country and its Ahmadism is tempered by Sufi'ism, in which various saintly figures are afforded great respect, many of whom taught a much more tolerant faith and a greater respect for the rights of women. Caistra is the one part of Solentia where most women go around without headscarves or veils, a complete contrast to the dominance of the burka in rural Saspain Wilayat and almost mandatory headscarves in other areas.

So what changed? Hezb-e Ahmadi, the political wing of Jaish-e Ahmadi launched a charm offensive amongst tribal leaders and political figures in Caistra, most prominently with a promise to devolve education policy to local areas. Secondly, despite being more moderate, Caistra is intensely xenophobic, with a strong dislike of neighbouring Kalopians. Ironically this is partially caused by the greater respect for women in the region, which in turn leads to an intense protection of their women from outsiders. With Kalopa declaring its intent to intervene militarily in Solentia many local leaders in Caistra felt a desire to unite with other Solentians against the invader. The timing of the announcement by the Kalopian President could not have come at a worse time for the MKG as many of their fighters and allies simply switched sides and joined Jaish-e Ahmadi, giving MKG only enough time to organise their defences in the southern cities which had previously been unaffected by the fighting.

In Caistra most Ahmadi women do not wear headscarves or the burka, a contrast to the rest of the country.

Refugee Situation Exacerbated

The stunning Jaish-e Ahamdi victories has seen refugee numbers increase dramatically. Several million Solentians are now internally displaced within the country, with hundreds of thousands attempting to enter Kalopa via border crossings at Bianca and the south-western port city of Canneante. Many are also reported to have headed for the Istalian border through the Wilayat of Nalia.

Solentians vow resistance to Kalopia

December 5592

Hezb-e Ahmadi leader Mullah Mohammad Yummah Speaks Publicly

The leader of Hezb-e Ahmadi and de jure Head of State of Solentia has given a rare public brief to the media in which he warned Kalopian soldiers to stay in their own country or face the wrath of the Solentian people. Amidst other fiery rhetoric he called upon all Solentians to come together to resist the invaders and reminded Solentians of the terrible times when Solentia had been invaded by Artanians and its rich culture and traditions had been repressed and destroyed.

Mullah Yummah rarely appears in public.

Caistran Fighters Prepare to Resist

Two months ago Ahmad Gul had been a local commander of pro-MKG forces in northern Caistra Wilayat. He has now reorganized his militia fighters under the Jaish-e Ahmadi banner and is ready to die to protect Solentia from Kalopians, he went on to say;

Quote:Yesterday I protect Caistra against those northern fundamentalists, but today, I protect Solentia and unite with my northern brothers against those western monkeys from Kalopia.

Ahmadi State in Majatra Threaten Retaliation

Ahmadi State in Majatra (ASIM) has issued a message threatening retaliation against the "apostates, deceivers and Shaintanists of Kalopia". The message continued that "death and destriction would be brought to Kalopia if a single kaffir soldier set foot on sacred Solentian soil" In the last year or so ASIM has taken advantage of the situation in Solentia to begin to rebuild and has an unknown number of training camps into the country, likely protected by Hezb-e Ahmadi and their armed wing Jaish-e Ahmadi. It is unknown what ASIM had offered Hezb-e Ahmadi in return for this support.

MKG Leader Begs Kalopia to Intervene

The MKG leader and former Solentian President Gedi Khan has called upon Kalopia to honour its planned intervention in Solentia to "save secularism and human rights". Gedi Khan has continued to lead MKG from the capital Oda, although the situation in the capital is increasingly precarious as Jaish-e Ahmadi have now isolated the city on three sides, with only the route west from the city to the Kalopian border still in MKG hands.

Mutahad Kargar Gond Collapse in Eastern Solentia

January 5593

Formation of Eastern Alliance

The Mutahad Kargar Gond (MKG) position across Solentia continues to deteriorate. Following their collapse in the south, the MKG have now lost control of eastern Solentia. Former MKG allies and moderate Ahmadists have come together to form the Eastern Alliance, which has immediately declared a ceasefire with Jaish-e Ahmadi. The cities of Slandsce and Gistra in Dostopo and Agania and Lebonma in Thepinesne are all now being run by the Eastern Alliance. It is thought that prominent local Ahmadi Mullah's, business leaders and members of the smuggling cartels approached local MKG militia leaders with an offer to revoke loyalty to the MKG in the capital Oda and to form a regional government that could work with Hezb-e Ahmadi to end local fighting, restore credible local government and reopen regional trade networks.

Humanitarian Disaster Declared in Solentia

March5593

With winter fast approaching humanitarian aid agencies have declared a disaster in Solentia. Million of Solentians are internally displaced, with hundreds of thousands of other Solentians already having crossed borders into neighbouring nations. The Eastern Majatra Humanitarian Crisis Joint Response organisation, formed during the Third Civil War in the 5250's has appealed for support from the international community to help those most vulnerable inside Solentia. Food, water, temporary accommodation, warm clothing and fuel for heating and cooking are most desperately required.
