Snap elections occur as Centrists pull off a victory; Progressive Party secures PM as Mori Itsuki forms a government.
-----------------------------------
September 6th, 5708
-----------------------------------
Snap elections have concluded as the Koiso Cabinet was unable to survive a vote of no confidence after the Republic was established. With minor economic recovery occuring, the centrist party's have managed to fend off the far left and far right, with the centrists prevailing. The margin between an SFRP majority and a workable majority for the centrists has changed, as the SFRP and even the communists bled votes. While the SFRP is still a major force, they've suffered some seat losses. Meanwhile, the Progressive Party has managed to succeed in coalition negotiations and has been able to secure one of their own as Prime Minister, forming a coalition with the Liberals and the Cooperative Democrats, even despite the tense relationship between the Liberals and CDP.

As such, Mori Itsuki, first elected Prime Minister of the Republic of Seko has pledged an ambitious domestic policy, looking to focus on economic recovery via the KRT Plan (which has Liberal Support), and revive domestic industries to rebuild Seko's spot in the global economy. Combine that with a State Diet that, while hostile to extremely ambitious agendas, is still ultimately favourable to the centrists and the Itsuki Cabinet can genuinely achieve its agenda, provided it doesn't gamble everything in appeasing radicals. While it's unlikely that the Itsuki Cabinet will make democratic expansion a key component of this term, largely focusing on the economy and economic recovery, Liberals have been in favour of expanding democratization and moving away from an anocracy. Whether that'll happen or not, is yet to be seen.

The extremes however, on the far left and far right have had the expected reactions to what amounts to a social democrat being elected, with the far left decrying Itsuki as a "social fascist", advancing a "bourgeois fascist" agenda. The far right, has in turn, called Itsuki a communist set out on damning the economy to a "depression unlike which has ever been seen before". To, while pressure is still high as ever on the centrists, there's more of a workable majority in the State Diet, and with Liberal support, as well as Cooperative Democrat support, the KRT Plan and other centre left economic relief efforts may be able to pass easily.

KRT Plan begins; Itsuki Cabinet focused on railways to promote recovery.
-----------------------
December 27th, 5708
-----------------------
The Itsuki Cabinet has looked to enact the KRT Plan, and begin major efforts to revive the Sekowan industry, starting off with the nervous system of any economy; logistics. In this case, rail infrastructure. Without key infrastructure, any long term economic recovery is unlikely. And with a project already in the world with New Verham, now is the perfect opportunity to expand on that and implement a national rail infrastructure plan. This will not only provide jobs, something sorely needed, but promote economic growth, development and perhaps most importantly, legitimize the Republic further.

As such, the first step has been the formal establishment of the National Rail and Infrastructure Authority, which will be tied to the KRT and exist, so long as the KRT is enacted. The NRIA will audit all existing rail infrastructure to ensure it's adequately up to standards, coordinate with state and private contractors, issue loans, and prioritize projects by economic impact. The NRIA will act as a coordination mechanism, and ensure economic recovery is achievable. But coordination isn't enough to achieve what's necessary for economic recovery, and so, the Itsuki Cabinet is looking to promote industrial corridors, particularly in Prefectures with already existing copper and coal mines, ports, or already have a decent manufacturing hub. These corridors will receive highest priority for economic recovery, and efforts will be made on the tangible infrastructure for railways. Modernizing bridges, railroads, expanding electrification maintenance, and the like. The less delays means more trains, more trains means economic growth via logistics and goods moving faster.

Furthermore, freight yards will be vital and will need to not only be expanded drastically, but modernized. And modernized they shall be (expansion is a question for another day), with efforts such as expanding container storage, cargo sorting platforms, and crane and loader managements. Furthermore, while train production has seen its glory days in the past, the Itsuki Cabinet is looking to restore production, even if it's small in scale, and the first step is reconnecting factories to railways. It'll certainly take time for Seko to have a robust domestic train production industry again, but the first step is to take a step forward.

Small as this may seem, the KRT Plan looks to cover all sectors of the economy and ensure vital economic recovery. And the Itsuki Cabinet can't afford to start the KRT Plan in a radical fashion.

Energy Grid Modernizations begin; Copper and Coal mines to be reopened and expanded to accommodate demand.
--------------------------
June 17th, 5709
--------------------------
With the KRT Plan in full swing, and the Itsuki Cabinet looking to enact industrial expansions to promote growth, the focus has shifted from rail logistics, to energy logistics. Particularly modernizing energy grids, and the added benefit of expanding copper and coal mines, which will have the benefit of providing jobs for local economies (and especially the wider national economy), and provide stable sources for the energy grid. As such, the first step is modernizations. Replacing aging substations and transformers with more modern and robust ones will be invaluable, reinforcing transmission corridors, and modernizing circuit breakers. The goal is to ensure that the physical aspect of the energy grid is actually reliable.

And, to accommodate this modernization, an expansion of coal power is going to be necessary. It's not the cleanest, or the sexiest power source (especially compared to nuclear or oil), but it's something, and something is better than nothing. As such, for every power plant established, a mine will go along with it. This will provide a stable source of domestic power (without relying on foreign grids) and more importantly, get Sekowans into a job. And to keep all these energy grid modernizations going, copper mines will be vital. Currently existing mines will be drastically expanded, and the focus will shift towards general domestic refinement. This'll go perfectly for transformer production, as well as future revival of the electronics industry.

The KRT Plan is slowly seeing results, and while it's not as fast as many would like, it's providing something. Which is more than can be said of nothing. With the centre Liberal Democratic Coalition holding firm and tensions between the Liberals and CDP largely being put aside, the Itsuki Cabinet stands a real chance for long term economic recovery. Even if the Far Right accuses the Progressive PM of socialism, and the Far Left accuses of state capitalism.

PM shot dead in rally; Iwamoto Kuniyuki succeeds Itsuki.
------------------------
December 17, 5709
------------------------
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Seko, Mori Itsuki has been shot dead. During a rally in Eiwa, Itsuki was attempting to rally the public to be more in favour of the KRT Plan and boost democratic enthusiasm. Amidst the crowd however, a gunman managed to shoot and kill him. Police were quickly able to tackle and arrest the gunman, but Itsuki was declared dead long before even arriving in the hospital. Within days, the motive of the gunman was made clear. It was an act of political violence, as the gunman, Noya Kosho was preparing for weeks, as he saw Itsuki as a "radical socialist looking to turn Seko into a communist dictatorship".

Equally in an immediate fashion, the State Diet was thrown into chaos with the entire Diet throwing accusations at one another, as the Liberals and Progressives were quick to blame the inflammatory rhetoric of the far right for this assassination, whilst the SFRP blamed the Progressives for engaging in crypto socialism, and radicalizing the population. Even a few liberals threw blame at the SCKWP for already being a polarizing force in the State Diet. Fortunately for the centrists however, the CDP was able to force a vote on who should succeed Itsuki, and to the surprise of many, it would be a Liberal. Iwamoto Kuniyuki, in specific. In his inaugural speech, Kuniyuki claimed that economic recovery would continue, and that the KRT Plan would continue, albeit from a liberal lense. However, perhaps his most controversial statement was pledging to bring down extremism by any means, and despite the vagueness, it brought considerable controversy. It's no secret that Kuniyuki has always endorsed the idea of banning the far left and far right in Seko, and given he is now PM, it's entirely possible. Especially with the executive power that the PM holds.

If there is one thing clear however, its that the centre is now under a PM who is willing to go to war with the extremists. Whether economic recovery will still continue is still debatable, but the question of political recovery will also need to be asked, as it's clear that Seko is certainly going to go into turbulent times.

Prime Minister Kuniyuki suspends the State Diet; "Security of the Republic requires sacrifice against extremism".
----------------------
September 20th, 5710
----------------------
The Prime Minister of the Republic, Iwamoto Kuniyuki has formally announced the temporal suspension of the State Diet. With the State Diet unable to compromise on effective anti extremist action, or reinforcing the KRT Plan, and the possibility of the State Diet entering complete gridlock, Prime Minister Kuniyuki has announced that the State Diet will be suspended temporarily until the domestic situation has calmed down. Almost immediately, this made controversy everywhere on the political aisle, with the far left calling Kuniyuki a dictator, the centrists struggling to defend the move, and the far right also calling him a dictator. Because Seko is technically an anocracy, and power has been invested into the executive, there's little that can be done to oppose the Prime Minister however.

With the State Diet suspended, Kuniyuki has gone on record to say, that this is temporary and that safeguarding Democracy and the Republic requires sacrifices. To reassure the rest of the coalition, the already existing cabinet has been kept, which consists of Liberals, Progressives and CDP politicians. Whatever the case, Kuniyuki is intended to use "emergency powers and authority" to bypass gridlock, counter extremists on the left and right, and reinforce democracy, ironically via anti democratic means. However, both extremes have only reacted with more hostility, as the far right has begun organizing more and more protests and movements against Kuniyuki, attempting to weaponise centrist rhetoric against him, whilst the far left communists have reportedly been making moves to organize strikes. Which can only lead to an escalation in the future.

Whatever the case, Kuniyuki has pledged decisive action in the coming weeks, and that extremism of all flavours and branches will find no home in Seko, and economic recovery will continue, and occur. Whether this is true and democracy will survive or if it's simply empty promises as Seko peers into the void that is a dictatorship, is yet to be seen. Controversial as this move may be, only time will tell, for better or worse.

Agricultural Rescue Act enacted; Kuniyuki to move towards rural economic recovery.
-----------------------
March 7th, 5711
-----------------------
With the State Diet still suspended, Kuniyuki has looked to focus on waging war with the extremists, via attrition, looking to focus on economic recovery to whittle down extremists before resorting to more orderly methods. As such, ruling by decree, Prime Minister Kuniyuki has enacted the Agricultural Rescue Act, looking to strike at rural extremism, and revive agricultural industries, and economic communities. The logic is, rural communities have been quick to flock to the extremes, mostly the right, and tackling that will not only benefit the centre, but ensure that one the State Diet is restored, democracy will ensure.

As such, the KRT Plan will continue, albeit with a liberal spin, and this will involve a focus on infrastructure. The Agricultural Investment Program will be formed, which will focus on fast tracking irrigation efforts, modernize existing state and private farms (with a special focus on tea and rice farms to get exports supported), modernize rural roads and rails, and finally support processing plants such as rice milling and tea processing. Alongside this, land reform. A tax will be placed on unused agriculture land, to encourage that all agriculture land is used, but support will be provided for private agricultural startups and state backed rural credit programs.

The goal is to, ultimately, de-radicalize the rural communities, and ensure exports can occur again, and provide sustainable revenue for the state. While Progressives were hoping for more left leaning reforms, this is ultimately acceptable to them as not only is the current main avenue of dissent suspended, but jobs are being rolled out and the KRT Plan wasn't gutted in favour of austerity and privatization.

SCKWP organizes strikes in Heimeikyo; Strikers demand Kuniyuki resign and restore the State Diet.
-------------------------
September 26th, 5711
-------------------------
The far left, Seko Communist-Kaminskist Workers Party has announced that all affiliated unions with the party will be partaking in a major strike in Heimeikyo. With the far left only growing more and more frustrated with the centrists, especially with Kuniyuki suspending the Diet, and little signs of restoration, they've looked to organize a strike in Heimeikyo, with the goals of the strike being the resignation of Kuniyuki, immediate snap elections and the restoration of the State Diet. So far, strikes have been contained to just the city of Heimeikyo, but with how fragile the economy is, an organized strike is especially dangerous.

The public has been so far, split in the strike, with some viewing it as principled and righteous and others viewing it as reckless. The Kuniyuki Cabinet however, has yet to formally address the strike, beyond the Ministry of Industrial Affairs requesting that all strikers resume normal duties, but the far right has been having a field day, proclaiming that the dictator like Kuniyuki Cabinet is willingly sacrificing the economy and letting the communists parade around Heimeikyo, with no consequences. But with how notable anti extremist Kuniyuki is, it's likely that an escalation is only to occur as the communists and the strikers have made their demands clear and won't give in until the demands are met.

If the strike to escalate and expand, recovery may very well be out of the question as the economy takes a hit, however it's no secret that there are sympathies as concerns still remain high over the suspension of the State Diet. The best case scenario, would be negotiations and a compromise, or a peaceful dispersion of the strikers.

Heimeikyo Strike sees crackdown; Discussion begins in the Kuniyuki Cabinet over the constitutionality of the communists.
[Image: aa867448-c1f5-49a4-ba1a-63e7e34d3341_2d7...1741571063]
-------------------------
December 1st, 5711
-------------------------
With the Heimeikyo Strike going on with little sign of resolution, as the strikers showed no interest in giving up and the Kuniyuki Cabinet unable to resolve the situation peacefully, Kuniyuki has chosen to brandish his anti extremist credentials and begin a crackdown on the Heimeikyo Strike, with riot police being ordered to break up the strike and avoid as much violence as possible. Within hours, arrests were made as strike leaders were apprehended and arrested for "disturbing the peace", "threatening national cohesion" and "disrupting economic recovery". While initially the strikers had sympathetic goals, mostly warning the restoration of the State Diet, public sympathy quickly drained up as the strike lasted longer and longer, causing concerns over economic recovery.

Reactions from the centre have shifted from awkwardness and uncomfortableness to a more "law and order" mindset, albeit with more hesitancy from the Progressives, due to their strong beliefs in unionization. The far right has, in another rhetorically flip flop, have decried the Kuniyuki Cabinet as dictators curbing the power of the average Sekowan. The far left however, has been rather livid as the crackdown on a communist dominated strike has, unsurprisingly, drawn the ire of the far left. Any sympathy that the far left had for the Kuniyuki Cabinet however, evaporated as earlier today, December 1st, the Ministry of Justice confirmed active investigations will begin on whether the Seko Communist-Kaminskist Workers Party, and it's affiliated organizations are constitutional.

Almost immediately, the SCKWP declared that the Kuniyuki Cabinet was nothing more than a fascist state in liberal clothing, and that the Sekowan Proletariat must rise up against fascistic tyranny. Given the rapid anti extremism of Prime Minister Kuniyuki however, it's likely that once this metaphorical genie is out of the bottle, Kuniyuki will set his gaze on the far right. As public opinion is turning against the communists (and even the SFRP due to economic recovery slowly occuring), even the most left wing progressives have had trouble defending the communists and arguing against the banning of the SCKWP. In all likelihood, we won't find out what the answer will be to whether they will be banned or not, for a few months at best.

RE: Seko - Elena1012 - 20-02-2026

SCKWP to be forcibly dissolved; Kuniyuki Cabinet sets gaze on the far right.
-------------------------
June 26th, 5712
-------------------------
With the Heimeikyo Strike still fresh in the minds of many, and the Ministry of Justice beginning investigations into the constitutionality of the far left Seko Communist-Kaminskist Workers Party, many began counting the days of the SCKWP as many found it slim for the party to survive the challenges. This week, the Ministry of Justice confirmed, and announced that the SCKWP is to be forcibly dissolved, alongside all affiliated institutions. This has effectively seen the far left splinter, as the SCKWP is no more, and with no central party to rally behind, division has set forth on the far left.

For the centrists, this has been a moment of relief as while the Republic faces many troubles, communism will not be one of those troubles. With a far left that's fractured (albeit still angry), the centrists have had some boost in morale, especially as Kuniyuki has announced that once the State Diet is restored, snap elections will be held to replace the vacant seats. While the State Diet continues to be suspended, there's still some relief for centrists. However, the Kuniyuki Cabinet has shifted its gaze to the far right, citing the "alarmingly strong presence of anti democratic forces" on the far right, and that an investigation into the far right may also occur, most especially the SFRP. as expected, the far right has celebrated the forced dissolution of the communists but has reacted very negatively to the looming investigation, with the SFRP using every avenue possible to slow down, delay, or even prevent the investigation from occuring.

If the investigation goes through and the SFRP is forcibly dissolved however, then Kuniyuki will be able to enact not only democratic reforms, but continue the KRT with little opposition. But the far right will make sure that any attempts to forcibly dissolved the SFRP is long, arduous, and near impossible.

RE: Seko - Elena1012 - 22-02-2026

SFRP forcibly dissolved over "concerns for democratic respect"; As protests occur, Kuniyuki looks to democratization and continued economic recovery.
---------------------
December 12th, 5712
---------------------
As one extreme falls, so too does another. With the dissolution of the communists still fresh in political memory, the Kuniyuki Cabinet was quick to pivot to the far right, while the iron was still hot, most notable, the SFRP.  However, tackling the SFRP is an entirely different beast compared to the communists, as the far right is not only more popular, but has more grassroots backing. Undeterred, the Kuniyuki Cabinet and particularly the Ministry of Justice began a months long investigation, looking at any angle to strike the far right. And this week, the Ministry of Justice has confirmed that, due to concerns over respect for democracy, and the democratic process, the Seko Fundamentalist Restoration Party will be forcibly dissolved, due to it's involvement in democratic backsliding in prior SFRP Administrations.

Almost immediately, outrage came from the far right, as protests swept the nation, but the Kuniyuki Cabinet has shifted direction once again, trying to define the narrative, has announced that the State Diet will be restored in January, and snap elections will be held next November, and that over the course of 5713, Kuniyuki will work with the State Diet to enact re-democratization laws and continue the KRT Plan. Kuniyuki has confirmed that he will not run for re-election, and will leave it up to the Liberal Party to determine a replacement next November.

As both extremes are down politically, and economic recovery is slowly but surely occuring, and siphoning away support for extremist solutions, Seko may see next years elections with a sense of optimism and hope for once. Whatever the case, the extremists will likely enter the State Diet again, albeit in a heavily reduced and fragmented form as some segments of the population, minor as they may be, will support them. In the coming months, we can expect a successor party for the far left and far right to emerge, but for now, the centre stands alone and relatively victorious.
