Federal laws changed: More room for local governments
National-led Government works together with Reform opposition to pass curcial laws

Randworth - Long have all parties within the Federal Parliament talked about reforming the nation, but never has one delivered in the last thirty years. Mordusia is a largely rural nation with various differing provinces that are vastly different from one another. Now, with the help of a common initiative by the Nationals and Reform a bill passed the House that will give more room for local governments to create policy, get more responsibility in carrying out federal policy and even more crucially: the funding for local governments have been increased drasticly.
the Prime-Minister, Mr. DeWitt, who has announced that this will be his last term in office and that after this term he will try to enjoy his retirement, stated that it was the biggest mistake of his administration to ''fall behind on our promise to give more space for local governments''. With this new bill the government hopes together with the Reform opposition that local governments will be able to carry out more functions, create better policies on issues that affect the people more directly. The Minister of the Interior, Vivian Champ, has stated that she believes that with the current bill passing into law will ''bring about the promise we made''. Though Reform has been skeptical of the government and finds that the Nationals took too long to bring about the promised change, has stated that it is ''a step in the right direction''.
The reform bill gives more funding to local governments, does away with politically loyalty demands of civil servants and allows local governments to create policy on their own as long as it does not violate Federal Laws. The Federal Government has further announced that along the guidelines of these laws they wish to create cocreation policies in regards to welfare and healthcare. Allowing local differences in some while guarenteeing a federal standard. The first decentralised power that was increased was the police. Vivian Champ said that with the new change the local police do no longer fall under the Federal police and that they will be overseen by the governor of the specific province.
Though the bill focuses mostly on the increase in powers to the provincial governments, the bill also included a huge change for cities. From now on mayors will be elected and lead the government of a city instead of a councill. This weird leftist collectivist remainder, as Vivian Champ said, had to be removed in favour of a figure who can play an important role in the governance of cities and towns.

Bipartisanship continues, Reform and Nation cooperate on further reforms
National Party and Reform Party cooperate on constitutional changes

Randworth - Everyone thought that the bipartisan views of the two large parties would wane but for the second time in two years both parties cooperate on what both parties describe as vital constitutional changes. Spearheaded by the Reform Party and fully backed and cooperated on by the National Party, the constitutional changes will soon pass in the Parliament.
Ever since the collapse of the multiparty system and Mordusia reverting back to the two-party system the two political long time allies, the Reform Party and the National Party have transformed into mutual mortal enemies. Effectively campaigning against one another. The Nationals taking up a less regional but a more centralised one-nation conservative vision, favouring the cities and big business. The Reform Party has won the hearts of the regional base and more left-leaning voters. The parties hardly agree on anything these days. However members from both side of the isle have found each other and agreed to work together to move Mordusia forward.
In the new bill the Constitution of the Commonwealth will be changed to increase the number of seats in the Federal Parliament, also the number of seats will be distributed fairly amongst the states without favouring larger states. The parties hope that it will increase lively debate in the Federal Parliament. Also the Parliament of the Commonwealth will officially take up its unofficial name of Federal Parliament. The Cabinet will take the name of Federal Cabinet or Federal Council of Ministers to represent the Federal system of the Commonwealth.
The cooperation between the two parties gives hope for civil politics and an end to polarsing politics within the Commonwealth.

Randworth - Orange Palace in the Empire of Luthori has announced that the nephew of Her Imperial & Royal Majesty, Empress & Queen Audrey I will move to Mordusia and head the Orange-Villayn Foundation in Mordusia. His Imperial & Royal Highness, Prince Louis of Orange-Villayn-Armstead, Prince of Luthori, Mordusia, Rutania & the Yeudi Homeland, Prince of Orange-Villayn arrived yesterday and was greeted by Governor-General Michael Lafleur.
Prince Louis, who is now in his thirties, is a well known lover of culture and arts, has according to reports requested the Imperial Family for the post in Mordusia. The Prince has long said that the Commonwealth has long been too neglected by the Imperial Family, not by Her Imperial & Royal Majesty, but the by the family as a whole. In a rare interview taken after his trip with the Queen to Mordusia during her juibilee he stated that ‘Mordusia is one of the greatest countries I have seen. Its diverse nature, its unique bland regional cultures, all formed and bred on that beautiful Seleyan soil based on Luthorian beginnings. Wonderfull it was’. His love for our country is quite clear.
The Orange-Villayn Foundation is a charitable foundation set up by the Orange-Villayn family to invest in cultural development, the arts and preserving the local cultures within the areas the foundation works. The Foundation has now set its eyes on Mordusia and wishes to set up their headquarters in Rechtenberg to begin its work. The prince at its head has on arrival talked with the Governor-General and the minister of culture how and where to invest in cultural development of the different regions within Mordusia. Prince Louis was in that sense directly enthousiastic with various ideas, for instance Mordusia Day, a day to celebrate the Commonwealth, its founding, its culture and society, from where it was to where it is now. The first Mordusia Day will be celebrated in 5585.

Port Alexander - In 5574 the Ministry of Defense announced major investments in the military, especially seeing the igniting tensions around the world and the war that is waged against Istalia. The National-led government thought it best to have a growing defense industry that can run autonomously of other friends and allies and supply the Commonwealth with the needed materials to defend the nation. However the Hexlon Imperial conglomorate seems to be needing more time to set up every part and division to produce the materials neccessary. Though their progress is going well, it seems to early to be able to fully operate and produce all kinds of materials needed for the military. To that end the military has announced that maintanance, fire arms and side arms will be bought from the Hexlon Defense Industries but that until such time they can produce their own materials the Commonwealth will purchase hardware from allied and friendly nations.
Hexlon Defense Industries and its subsidiaries
As we reported, Hexlon Imperial created a new company with four branches in Mordusia, the Hexlon Defense Industries. The four branches of said company are:
- Hexlon Aviation
- Hexlon Royal Arms
- Hexlon Motors
- Hexlon Defense Technologies
Hexlon Aviation & Motors ready to provide service but not to build its own models
Hexlon Aviation is the branch or subsidiary that is focused on the Royal Airforce of the Commonwealth, they will produce hardware and machines for the airforce, such as fighter planes, helicopters and planes. However Hexlon Aviation has stated that it is hard for the branch to directly produce these types right of the get go and that it would be a long process. Up untill now they will focus on producing helicopters and transport planes as well as setting up services to maintain and repair any of the existing or future materials of the Royal Airforce. Through this they hope to generate a good revenue to speed up R&D. The same goes for Hexlon Motors, the branch responsible for making tanks, armoured vehicles and troop transport. The division is deeply focused on creating its own troop transport and armoured vehicles, relying on the Luthorian tanks for the forseeable future.
Hexlon Royal Arms, ready and delivering to the service
Unlike Hexlon Aviation the Hexlon Royal Arms went like a train. Two years ago it finished its set up and is now able to create a new assault rifle for the Mordusian Army. The new MAR-01 is build in such a way that it shoots the same rounds as the Luthorian Imperial Army, so as to be able to purchase ammunition of the Empire in the case the production in Mordusia falls short. With this the Hexlon Group hopes to keep up a standard for ammunition across the two allies. With Mordusia relying still heavily on te protection and assistance of Luthori. This is not the only thing that the R&D department and the industrial build up has been able to do for Hexlon Royal Arms. With the Luthorians offering assistance in setting up R&D and developing local defense industries the Hexlon Imperial group has made great strides in developing arms for the military to use. In the last nine years they developed new side arms, small arms and fire arms for the military, military police and the police themselves. With this Hexlon Royal Arms is fully opperational. Within three years all police officers will be using the MP-A pistol within the Commonwealth whilst all of the armed forces will be using the MAR-01 in two years as well, phasing out the previous arms.

Training and recruitment drives going above and beyond
The government really wants to make sure that the Royal Armed Forces of the Commonwealth are ready. The Defense minister stated yesterday that the Empire has agreed to aid the Commonwealth in training its troops. All over the country, in the various terrains and landscapes the troops have been training along side Luthorian troops and being instructed by Luthorian and Mordusian training officers. All to get the armed forces back up to standard. According to our sources the armed forces have a long way to go but that these drills have helped the Commonwealth army recover from its weak position. What is also helping is the increasing number in recruits the Armed forces are able to recruit. The increase in pay and the advertisements and lucrative deals the services offer them seem to be helping in that department. The greater number of hands and troops help increase the strength and mission readiness of the Armed forces. However the armed forces are not out of the woods yet, the focus remains on the Royal Army and the Royal Airforce, not on the Royal Navy, an area mostly reduced to coast guarding and port protection. For the naval front the Commonwealth remains using the services of the Luthorian Imperial Navy.

Randworth - Though the shock of whats going on in the Kundrati Union under the terrible regime of the junta there, the Commonwealth Government has said that it was a welcome sight and positive boost to the government and business confidence in the nation to see key Kundrati companies such as the Etxea Bank and Tomasadyn National to move their operations and headquarters to the Commonwealth. The Minister of Trade, Industry & Business Affairs said: ''We welcome them with open arms and will help those that move with them settle in Mordusia without much problems''.
Both companies feared the nationalisation by the junta and fled the country as soon as was possible. The government recognised this fear and has allowed the companies to set up shop in Mordusia without any barrier. The companies will be exampt from normal taxation for a year to set up their businesses, after that they will be paying a reduced corporation tax of 8% instead 10% for two years to accomodate their transition. Afterwards they will be beholden to the Commonwealth laws.
It is shocking to see a nation losing such valued companies due to overzealous and quite extreme thoughts, even scaring its own people into fleeing. The Commonwealth there for is to be praised that it as a member of the Luthorian Commonwealth is part of a family of nations that share the values of democracy, freedom and the right to own property, where a government doesnt needlessly involve itself in the affairs of the individual. The Ministry has stated that as is usual, the Kundrati companies will remain private companies and that their companies will be registered with the Chamber of Commerce.

Randworth - O His Imperial & Royal Highness, Prince Louis of Orange-Villayn-Armstead, Prince of Luthori & Mordusia etc. etc. has been named Governor-General by Empress-Queen Audrey I of Luthori & Mordusia. With the surprise resignation of the previous Governor-General and marking ten years since the Jubilee of the Queen, Her Majesty's Government and Her Majesty herself thought it wise to dedicate this year of our Lord 5585 to the cultural enrichment of the Commonwealth, celebrating its unique culture, Luthorian heritage and its great people and wide differing natural landscapes. To that end the Monarch wanted to show her support and her families support for Mordusia and its culture by naming a new Governor-General amongst her kin.
Let it be known that this move is highly unusual. Usually the Commonwealth votes to nominate a candidate to become Governor-General who the Empress-Queen then appoints as the new Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Mordusia. However because of the early resignation of Sir Michael Lafleur due to health reasons a unique oppertunity presented itself for the government and the Mordusian Queen. As such they approached the Prince who now lives in Mordusia, spear heading the Orange-Villayn Foundation to support Mordusian culture. The appointment is for one year and afterwards the people will be able to nominate a new candidate for the Queen to approve.
It is not a secret that Prince Louis is a big lover of Mordusia, since he moved here two years ago he has spend his time and energy supporting schools and other educational institution to spend more time and effort in teaching their students about the arts, history and culture of Mordusia. In 5584 he aided the refurbishment of the Mordusian Museum of National History, with especially focussing on the Mordusian relationship with Luthori, Alduria and its relationship with the Orange-Villayn family. The Foundation paid for most of the refurbishments and for it to be free to visit for students and schools. Together with the ministry of education this project saw great success. Much to the joy of the Prince who's enthousiasm has captured the hearts and minds of the people.
With the nomination the Prince announced that his first duty would be to speak to various people across the nation and to see the implementation of Mordusia Day, as soon as could be. The Prince stated that he will make the best of it in this ''year that I was blessed with the highest honour of serving my nation and my sovereign''. The first thing on the agenda will be meeting the government and the various ministries and then the ambassadors of the various countries represented in Mordusia. Afterwards the Prince will travel around the country and speak with all governors and mayors of the major cities.

Rechtenberg – It came as a shock to all to hear that the Lodamese nation, an always fierce independent nation joined the Anantonese Empire. The Empire has for the last decade expanded its power and territory rapidly through shrewd and peacefull diplomacy, a true testament to its cultural influence and unifying force in the North of Seleya. However this does present a problem for the Commonwealth of Nations as the Commonwealth of Mordusia is part of the Luthorian World but is also an ally of Lodamun. To this end the Foreign Minister Harrold Edwinson with the approval of Sir Alfred Hawk, the Prime-Minister and Prince Louis, the Governor-General, invited representatives of Lodamun and Kalistan to hold talks with him and a representative of the Empire (Luthori).
Long have the Mordusians been allies of the Lodamese, in accordance with the strategy of binding itself to Seleyan nations who orbit the Luthorian world or have an interest in the region. Lodamun seemed eager to jump on this and act as a good military ally to fill the gab where our government had to make painfull cuts in the military to save the economy and the budget during the difficult times 30 years ago. However now the economy has significantly grown and investments in the military have begun to grow. The projection was that our forces would have to rely less on the Lodamese, that was until Lourenne began to focus less on the region and more on its empire. The Lodamese once more proved vital allies, building extensive military bases for their navy and airforce. With much enthusiasm of the Commonwealth Government, who saw this as a way to safeguard Mordusia on its eastern borders whilst it worked on rebuilding its airforce and army.
But then came the surprise. Lodamun joined the Anantonese Empire. An Empire which had a hostile past with Luthori, Likatonia and Mordusia. Through embargo’s and spheres of influence clashes the Holy Luthorian Empire and the Anantonese Empire. Agreements were made and peace was returned. The two Empires, both ancient in their own ways, have expressed interests in normalising relationships and respecting each other’s goals. However with Lodamun joining this Anantonese Empire it becomes a problem, giving their armies a foothold in a territory marked for the Commonwealth of Nations and Luthori. Also the worsening relations between Lodamun and Luthori have always sit unwell with the Commonwealth Government.
To this end the Foreign Minister and the Defence Minister have both stated their wish for their wish for an amicable resolution to this problem. The Defence Minister was more open about his wishes, he is well known for not being able to keep things quite. Minister Jeffrey Heart stated that ‘’It is our wish for them to leave our country. We respect them and want to work with them, Luthori is not in east, yet, however we do not feel comfortable with the Anantonese Empire holding bases in our nation, nor did we agree to this. We also find it unreasonable that Lodamun did this without considering the feelings of its partner, how would our alliance work?’’ after that the Foreign Minister Harrold Edwinson cut him off and said ‘’we have much to talk about, we cant forget the good past we have with them but we also need to see the reality of the matter. We made a deal with Lodamun, not the Anatonese Empire, that changes a lot and in our eyes the treaty has ended. The deal with Luthori and Kalistan also stands and Mordusia is keen on it being enforced’’. The Governor-General refused to comment saying ‘’this is a job for the cabinet to resolve, I have been briefed and have briefed Her Imperial & Royal Majesty the Empress & Queen’’.
