Capital Oda Surrounded

January 5593

The Solentian capital Oda has been completely surrounded by Jaish-e Ahmadi who have continued their summer offensive following earlier successes. The capital Oda, with a population of several million, including hundreds of thousands of displaced internal refugees, is now isolated from all but aerial resupply. Former President Gedi Khan is believed to still be in the city, and a spokesman for him has detailed Mutahad Kargar Gond (MKG) retain thousands of fighters in the city who are willing to fight to the death. Jaish-e Ahmadi have been using recently captured artillery to strike targets within the city, while continuing to use suicide attacks to degrade MKG forces. The leadership of Jaish-e Ahmadi are keen to take the city before Kalopia begins its long planned military intervention.

Kalopians Advance Towards Oda

March 5593

Two months into their intervention in Solentia and Kalopian ground forces are only hours away from the capital Oda. Kalopian aircraft buzz overhead unmolested as Jaish-e Ahmadi have no aircraft, ready to pound Jaish-e Ahmadi positions around the capital. Although Jaish-e Ahmadi have attempted to contest the Kalopian advance they have simply been outmatched as they lack armour and anti-tank weapons.

Jaish-e Ahmadi and their allies in Ahmadi State have resorted to desperate tactics as they launch suicide attacks behind the Kalopian front line and within Kalopia itself. Despite this, the Kalopian offensive appears to be going to plan, creating a safe zone for refugees inside Solentia.

Mass-Protests Against Kalopian Occupation

April 5593

After Kalopia declared its ground offensive in Solentia "concluded" mass protests erupted in the cities occupied by Kalopia. Various effigies of Kalopian President Rexhepi were paraded through different streets, beaten and eventually torched. Kalopia has made great play of its efforts to defeat Ahmadi State, yet Ahmadi State terrorist attacks started after the invasion of Solentia by Kalopia forces. The lack of support for Kalopia inside Solentia is very apparent. One well dressed Solentian offered the following insight;

Quote:That Kalopian bitch, she said "I want you to know that Kalopia stands with you", no one in Solentia wants those pigs here. She said "we are not here as occupiers but as protectors", but they have murdered thousands of Solentian civilians with their airstrikes, "we are committed to ensuring that your cities, your homes, and your lives are restored to safety and dignity", after they have destroyed areas of many ofour cities. She is a liar, they must leave now, no one wants them here.

"Collateral Damage" - thousands of Solentian civilians killed in Kalopian airstrikes and assaults on urban centres

May 5593

International aid agencies have reported high levels of civilian casualties in the Kalopian invasion. As Kalopia has used relatively small numbers of ground forces (only 50,000 ground personnel in a country with a population of nearly 60 million people), the Kalopian military have had to rely overwhelmingly on airstrikes to target Jaish-e Ahmadi. Although the Kalopian military have said these are "targeted", Solentian hospitals and aid agency posts are fully of horrifically wounded civilians, with fatalities hastily buried according to Ahmadi rites.

The irony is the civil war was relatively localised, with the capital Oda and border city of Bianca experiencing the most fighting prior to the Kalopian invasion. Even the fall of Caistra Wilayat was largely achieved peacefully with fighters switching sides. Civilian casualties had been relatively limited away from Oda, and Ahmadi State had not been involved in the conflict at all. Kalopia intervention has massively increased the scale of human suffering in Solentia.

In one incident a wedding party was attack in a Kalopian airstrike in Nalia Wilayat killing over 50 people.

Hezb-e Ahmadi reachout to opponents to unite against invaders

July 5593

The Hezb-e Ahmadi political movement has reached out to its former enemies in Mutahad Kargar Gond to unite against the Kalopian invader. Offers have also been made to the Abadi militia's in northern Solentia and to the newly formed Eastern Alliance to unite together in one Ahmadi Union to fight the common invader.

Kalopian Intervention in Solentia has turbo-charged Ahmadi State

August 5593

The Kalopian intervention into Solentia, officially justified to combat "extremism" in the region has created serious blowback as in the words of one security analyst for the region "Ahmadi State has been turbocharged". In the early 5540's Ahmadi State was defeated in Jakania, although global intelligence analysts had always credited Ahmadi State with maintaining capabilities through the 5560's. The election of a Ahmadist government in Solentia in the late 5580's created the conditions for Ahmadi State to thrive in Solentia, with training camps being established from 5590 onwards.

Then the invasion of Solentia by Kalopia in early 5592 gave Ahmadi State the casus belli to launch all out attacks on Kalopia, both inside Kalopia and within Solentia. Deadly suicide attacks within the Kalopian "safe zone" are a feature of daily life for Solentians trapped in this occupied area as Ahmadi State target Kalopian soldiers, officials and any Solentian collaborators.

An Ahmadi State "martyrs video" released prior to a suicide attack in Solentia

Ahmadi State are expert at propaganda videos, with all suicide attacks featuring a "martyr videos" of the suicide attackers who are treated like celebrities in many working class Ahmadi communities across eastern Majatra. There is a well tracked influx of foreign fighters to Solentia, with fighters travelling from as far away as Barmenistan, Jakania, Al-Badara, Talmoria and even some Ahmadists from Artania and Seleya. Even more readily available are thousands of young Solentian men willing to fight the Kalopian invader by any means necessary.

Ahmadi State Expansion?

Rumours abuzz that Ahmadi State are looking to use combat experience gained in Solentia to expand their area of operations, resurrecting Ahmadi State cell in neighbouring countries. This will no doubt include terrorist cells, specifically operating in Kalopia, but also groups looking to size land in other unstable countries. Could the blowback from Kalopian intervention in Solentia lead to an expansion of Ahmadi State?

Ahmadi Union Formed Uniting Anti-Kalopian Forces

September 5593

After months of secret negotiations, different Solentian factions have come together to form the Ahmadi Unionn to oppose the continued Kalopian invasion of Solentia. Most sensationally, former President Gedi Khan has agreed to an alliance with Hezb-e Ahmadi, and remaining fighters from Mutahad Kargar Gond in southern Solentian cities have joined with their former Jaish-e Ahmadi enemies. This has freed up large numbers of Jaish-e Ahmadi fighters to move north towards the areas controlled by Kalopian forces.

[Image: SolentiaSep5593.png]

Areas of Control between Ahmadi Union and Kalopian Intervention forces (see here for larger map)

With anti-Kalopian forces now united, Jaish-e Ahmadi have been able to launch larger attacks against Kalopian forces. Although Jaish-e Ahmadi do not have the weapons to assault the cities controlled by Kalopia, they have been able to attack smaller patrol bases, and in some cases overrun them. However Jaish-e Ahmadi causalities are heavy as Kalopians are able to call in airstrikes to break up larger Jaish-e Ahmadi formations. Combined with suicide attacks conducted by Ahmadi State against, Kalopian ground forces are now under intense pressure. This is exacerbated by the inability of the Kalopians to gain local hearts and minds in areas they control.

Kalopian Blockade Induces Famine in Solentia - Millions at risk of starvation

January 5594

Kalopian activities in and around Solentia continue to induce a humanitarian disaster in the less economically developed country. Kalopian control of central areas of Solentia has disrupted internal trade and the movement of domestically produced food such as livestocks with the north and south of the country lacking any ground lines of communication. The Kalopian maritime blockade, officially aimed at disrupting the flow of drugs has significantly disrupted the import of cereals to Solentia.

Many Solentians are dependent upon imported food which the Kalopian blockade has reduced to dangerous levels

Humanitarian agencies fear the start of winter of June, stating that if the blockade isn’t lifted million of Solentians will starve to death. One bitter aid worker commented;

Quote:The so called Kalopian intervention has been a fiasco. They don’t know why they intervened, they don’t know who they’re supposed to be supporting, they don’t know what the impact of their blockade was going to do and they have no long term plan. Kalopia has been a disaster for the people of Solentia.

Security Analyst Criticises Poor Kalopian Intelligence

January 5594

An intelligence analyst for a private security company that specialise in risk management for multinational shipping corporations has strongly criticized the poor performance of Kalopian civilian and military intelligence agencies relating to their intelligence assessment, a year after the Kalopian military launched its intervention into Solentia. He highlighted the following areas as total failures;

1. Not identifying which faction Kalopia was going to work with inside Solentia. Kalopia clearly did not understand what the conflict was about and made no effort to engage with any factions in Solentia prior to launching a military intervention.

2. In their assault on the capital Oda, attacking the MKG who were the only faction open to working with Kalopia. This directly led to the leader of the MKG reaching out to work with Hezb-e Ahmadi.

3. Not understanding the hostility to outsiders in Solentian culture, which led to all Solentian factions uniting against Kalopian intervention.

4. Allowing the Kalopian President to make a public speech on the conflict that was extremely poorly received in Solentia and led to mass protests in Kalopian controlled areas.

5. Claiming the intervention was against Ahmadi State, although the intervention triggered Ahmadi State attacks inside Kalopia and has subsequently led to Ahmadi State rapidly expanding.

6. Providing supplies to factions in Solentia that months later united with Hezb-e Ahmadi to oppose Kalopian troops.

7. Being heavily reliant upon airstrikes that relied upon limited intelligence analysis and had caused significant numbers of civilian casualties.

8. Being unprepared for a refugee crisis.

9. Introducing a maritime blockade that supposedly targeted Ahmadi Union and Ahmadi State finances through drug trafficking, despite the Ahmadi Union being the legitimate government of Solentia and raising money through taxation, and Ahmadi State receiving its finances from wealthy Majatran backers. In fact, the only faction that benefits from the drugs trade was receiving supplies from Kalopia until recently.

Instead the maritime blockade had triggered a risk of a famine in Solentia by disrupting food imports

10. Continually referring to the legitimate government of Solentia as "terrorists", when it is Kalopian intervention forces that have targeted the civilian population of Solentia with airstrikes and economic blockades.

11. Kalopia still has no long term plan or disengagement strategy and has instead wasted diplomatic efforts on trying to get other nations to join their intervention.

The analyst could not believe that Kalopian intelligence had made so many assessment mistakes in such a short period of time, further intensifying the horror of the conflict in Solentia, a conflict that would have been resolved quicker and with far fewer casualties than is now the case following Kalopian involvement.

Baeguk Embassy in Helios Destroyed in Terrorist Attack - Ahmadi State Claims Responsibility

February 5594

The Baeguk Embassy in the Kalopian capital Helios has been almost completely destroyed after a series of complex attacks allowed a truck bomb to be detonated inside the security perimeter. The attackers were all killed in follow on gun battles with Kalopian security forces.  There are unknown numbers of casualties although local hospitals in the capital are known to be full.

[Image: OIP.d91n1Y7Fj5ADqBuEyXZVUAAAAA?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain]

The Embassy main building was completely levelled.

Baeguk had recently committed troops to support the Kalopian intervention in Solentia. Ahmadi State released a statement claiming responsibility for the attack;

Quote:The non-believers and idolaters of Baeguk have joined the apostates of Kalopia in their assault upon the Ahmadi faithful in Solentia, joining the campaign to murder and starve peaceful Solentians. Thirteen of our fighters martyred themselves in revenging the Solentian people upon the bloodthirsty mercenaries of Baeguk. More attacks will follow, Akim Akhbar!

Since the Kalopian intervention in Solentia started a year ago Ahmadi State have expanded their operations, conducting attacks inside Kalopia.
