Baatrynsentii - Seeking to quickly rebuild vital infrastructure and relief fragile urban populations, the Supreme Congress approved the "Reconstruction and Recovery Act" late last night despite protests from veteran associations. The bill allocates funding and prioritizes reconstruction efforts, with a budgetary allocation attached to its contents. The 8 billion associated with the bill allocates the bulk of state spending toward water treatment facilities, regional hospitals, and the repair of rural transport corridors destroyed during the civil war. Prime Minister Dogar Altan, speaking on behalf of the Khasar government, described the vote as “a foundational step toward restoring civilian life and economic circulation.”

But the bill faced significant oppossition from veterans from the start, as a majority of the funding used for its spending initiatives come from a planned freeze on compensation payments for civil war veterans. Following the civil war, the new government had promised to compensate civil war veterans for their hardships during the conflict, with a estimated 200.319 veterans from the various militia's having been wounded during the conflict. While some were excluded from compensation due to their support for the loyalists, a vast majority of them were expecting to receive their compensation next year. When the news broke that President Khasar was looking into freezing these payments in order to pay for reconstruction, veteran associations launched a variety of protests to stop it from happening. 

“We laid down our weapons because the state told us there would be reintegration,” said Carbon Nongrot, a former platoon leader now living in temporary housing. “Now they tell us to wait again.”

The vote caused a fracture within the ruling PAP, with its Orthodox Mönkhdevshilist wing pushing against the idea and calling on the President to reconsider. But the president and his cabinet were clearly confronted with the realities of ruling a damaged and bancrupt nation, as it became clear that not freezing veteran compensation would likely mean no funding for reconstruction and years of poverty and hardship as a result. On the direction of President Khasar, Prime Minister Altan was send to the Supreme Congress with the directive to pass the bill. 

In the end, the bill passed with 198 votes in favor and 166 against. 18 PAP lawmakers voted against the bill, with the vast majority convinced by the PM and several rounds of talks that the bill was necessary to restart the economy and the healthcare sector. Protestors outside of the Grand Palace of the Republic cheered lawmakers as they left, with congressman Bekter Chakhurkhan of the PAP facing a barrage of eggs for his support of the bill. With its passage however, the RRA is set to become a important tool for the new government to prioritize reconstruction efforts. The Ministry of Public Works announced that emergency tenders for water and hospital projects would be issued within thirty days. Additionally, the Ministry of Rural Communities has launched a canvassing effort in order to determine which rural road connections are in need of immediate reconstruction and which communities could use a financial stimulus. Provincial governments have already been asked to provide the appropriate ministries with detailed accounts of communities most affected by the war, prioritizing vital infrastructure in the areas most in need.

Altaai - Once called the "Pearl of the Verhamese Coast" the city of Altaai was the scene of a series of clashes between rival gangs and militia's last week in what was the latest in a series of security incidents in the country since the end of civil war. While most militia's active during the civil war have been disarmed, a condition of the Baatrynsentii Accord, a variety of new groups have popped up over the last few months, largely in areas where government control is still limited. While the central government operates the National Police, the officers in service of the NP are poorly trained and barely equipped, leaving them vulnerable to well armed gangs and militia's. 

Egelion has maintained a security presence in New Verham, helping with both national security and civilian policing where possible. But, as the issue of security continues to remain a important topic, President Khasar has been pressed by allies within his government to seriously consider a strong push for a proper security apparatus. Egelian forces have so far managed to keep the peace in important areas within the larger cities, as well as in the border region with Ostland. Just last week, Egelian forces repelled a GRCD incursion into Verhamese territory, killing 18 rebels and wounding countless more. But despite their success, the government of President Khasar seems to take into account the desire for Egelion to scale down its involvement in the country at some point, pushing the need for our own security apparatus even harder. 

The incident in Altaai has fueled the debate further, as at least two NP officers were killed and countless of civilians wounded in a skirmish that lasted days. Egelian military police moved into the area of the fighting, in the end putting the violence to a halt and arresting nearly 200 individuals. Economy minister Ardan Klose, key advocate for the recreation of a security apparatus, has argued that the economy would grealty benefit from additional security, allowing the country to reconstruct in "a more stable environment." Opposition figures, however, argue that reinstating a centralized apparatus, particularly one that would initially operate with the support of foreign partner Egelion, risks undermining hard-won civil liberties and national autonomy.

Public opinion appears divided. A rapid poll conducted last week showed 42% in favor of reestablishing a centralized security apparatus, 38% opposed, and 20% undecided, a shift from earlier this year when support lagged noticeably behind opposition. Whether reintroducing a functioning security apparatus will be possible in the near future will likely come down to a political choice, as the economy is all but recovered and the state coffers strained with reconstruction.

Baatrynsentii - A week following the creation of the New Verham Defense Force by presidential decree, President Khasar and his Xsampan, Egelian and Bianjian counterparts announced the formation of the "Absolute Support Mission" in New Verham. The announcement came after weeks of negotiations, with a pre-condition for the mission being the creation of the NVDF. According to a statement released by the newly established Ministry of Defense, the initiative will focus on training the New Verham Republican Army, National Police, and Home Guard units in areas such as counterinsurgency operations, logistics, civil-military coordination, and institutional reform. The program is expected to begin within the next several months, pending final agreements with participating states.

President Khasar described the mission as “a partnership, not a dependency,” emphasizing that foreign personnel would serve in advisory and training roles rather than direct combat operations. The exception is Egelion, which will continue to provide combat personell until the NVDF is considered capable of independent operations. The ASM will be headed by a joint command of Xsampan, Egelian and Bianjian military leaders, with President Khasar being the representative of the Republic when it comes to operational command. The mission is seen as necessary with a majority of military expertise washed away during the civil war. Recruitment for the NVDF will come from a voluntary program, offering former militiamen with combat experience a full paying job and state housing if deciding to enlist for full-time employment. 

For much of the past few years, internal security in New Verham has been handled almost exclusively by the National Police, which assumed responsibilities far beyond traditional law enforcement following the dissolution of the former military. While police units have maintained basic order, officials concede they have been poorly trained, lightly equipped, and ill-suited for sustained security operations. Despite mixed public opinion on reastablishing the military, President Khasar moved towards its creation as it became clear that the current situation could hurt further reconstruction and that Egelion was not seeking a permanent stay in the country. 

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it was negotiating with "international partners" for a potential investment or aid package into the country, with the recent budgetary report send to the Supreme Congress confirming that New Verham is unable to shoulder the financial burden of reconstruction while also rebuilding institutions like the military. An aid package, however small, would give the republic much needed relief without jeopardizing reconstruction efforts or national security.

Ersen - Self declared "President of the Gaoist Republic", Wang Tudan, broadcasted a weak but well understood radio message last night, announcing that the GRCD he controls had executed 15 alledged restorationists following a trial by the "People's Court". New Verham's National Police has indicated that they believe those executed are a mix of true restorationists and innocent civilians, subjected to a "sham trial" that sought to validate the new GRCD and its institutions. 

In the past year the DMZ has prevented Gaoist forces from taking more territory besides the territory they already have under their control near the Ostland border. This situation has prompted a relative calm in the area, despite several breakout attempts by Gaoist forces. The last few months in particular have seen no fighting, with the self-declared GRCD having focussed on the creation of their own state institutions, seeking to transform themselves from deserting army units controlling land towards a fully functioning state. 

No nation in Terra has recognized the state. In a effort to gain recognition amongst likeminded countries and make it easier to control its population, the GRCD has adopted a form of extreme communism, with every company that hasnt left their controlled area taken over by the new state and the newly establish "Gaoist People's Union" modelled after other communist parties in Terra. Freedom is a word that those unfortunate enough to live within GRCD territory will likely not be hearing anytime soon. Internet access is completely blocked, Gaoist forces routinely sack villages in search of additional supplies and the few existing state institutions all report to the GPU, which heavily monitors the estimated 200.000 civilians living within its territory. 

The city of Ersen, the largest city controlled by the GRCD, has been transformed in a unreal display of propaganda and control. All the streets are deserted, with street lights covered in GRCD flags and buildings painted in its colors. GPU party officials and Gaoist military forces patrol the streets, often arresting the few people that dare to walk freely.

President Bor Khasar of New Verham already called the situation in the GRCD "horrendous" but acknowledged that his government is in no position to oust GRCD leaders and retake their territory. The military units controlled by the GRCD were some of the more elite forces of the former Gaoist military, largely having fled to the border to escape persecution by the New Verham government. Combined with their ability to smuggle in black market weapons and ammunition, the GRCD is in a relatively strong position to maintain control over their territory. Following the execution of the 15 civilians however, President Khasar has initiated a meeting with participating states of the ASM, seeking to discuss ways to accelerate training and poll support amongst its allies for potential aid in retaking GRCD territory.

Baatrynsentii - A growing institutional conflict has emerged between President Bor Khasar and the country’s newly appointed Court of Auditors, as disagreements intensify over the scale and pace of government spending in the aftermath of the civil war. At the heart of the conflict is excessive government spending in the last year, driven by a desire to accelerate reconstruction and restart the New Verham economy. Projects such as rebuilding the water supply network, repairing rural infrastructure and investing heavily in the manufacturing industry has led to consistent deficits in the last few months, with government debt rising at a quick pace despite foreign aid slowly trickling into the country. 

The Court of Auditors, formally installed in early this year and tasked with overseeing public finances, issued its first critical report on Tuesday, warning that the current fiscal trajectory “poses a severe risk to the long-term solvency of the state.” The report highlights rising borrowing costs, dwindling foreign reserves, and what it describes as “insufficient safeguards” against waste and misallocation. While economists agree with the court, seeing its report as a testiment to its proper functioning, President Khasar has publicly shamed it for "delaying reconstruction." His own finance ministry issued a report just hours after the court's opinion on tuesday, noting that despite increased spending pledges from the Triad and other nations in the region would soften the blow and actually allow New Verham to regain a surplus within the next two years. Additionally, the President spoke to the press in the Republican Palace, rejecting the assessment by the Court.

“This nation did not survive two years of conflict to be paralyzed by accounting fears,” Khasar said. “Rebuilding roads, hospitals, schools, and basic services is not extravagance, it is the minimum price of peace.”

Supporters of the president argue that the Court of Auditors is applying peacetime standards to an extraordinary situation. “Without rapid state intervention, entire regions would remain ungovernable,” said Finance Minister Anarba Khudu. “Economic revival requires upfront costs.”

Privately, government insiders acknowledge growing frustration within the presidential circle. Several officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, suggested that the Court’s leadership may be replaced if it continues to obstruct cabinet decisions. Such a move however would be a bad sign for the effort of rebuilding state institutions. Just after the civil war, the Court of Auditors was celebrated as a institution that would keep the government on track, with President Khasar himself applauding its creation as a "testiment of good government." Now, with oppossition from its members, the court is mainly seen as a roadblock on the path to recovery. Leader of the oppossition, Chaghagan Khoga (Democratic Progressive), has questioned the governments motives. He has announced that he will question Finance Minister Khudu sharply during next weeks Budget Committee hearings, calling the pressure on and rejection of the Court of Auditors "a dangerous sign for our young democracy."

Baatrynsentii - The Absolute Support Mission is a one of a kind mission to rebuild the New Verham military. Born from the ashes of the civil war, the nations of Egelion, Bianji, Xsampa and later Luthori joined together and committed resources and personell to train the New Verham Defense Force. What began as a simple infantry training mission has turned into a full fledged operation, with military resources pouring into the country and the New Verham Republican Army growing by the week. 

This week, the first IFV's arrived in the country, marking the beginning of a new phase within the ASM: training two mechanized brigades. Earlier, Xsampan forces had been training several infantry batallions in urban and counter insurgency operations, with small arms and ammunition provided by Egelion. Field Marshal Darbai Yesun released a memorandum weeks ago, announcing the desire for a active ground force of 80.000 soldiers, mostly consisting of infantry and mechanized brigades. Due to budgetary limitations, progress on its creation has been slow but steady, with the Office for Military Procurement and Assessment working closely with partners within the ASM to pick the right equipment capable of being maintained by New Verham itself after the end of the mission. 

The Ministry of Defense says the reformed army is deliberately smaller than its prewar predecessor but more professional, with an emphasis on mechanized infantry, rapid-response forces, and descisive operations. Officials argue this structure is better suited to the country’s terrain and security needs and reduces the risk of the military becoming a political actor. 

ASM officials say the most visible gains have been made in training and command reform. More than a dozen reconstituted batallions have completed standardized basic and unit-level training under foreign advisory teams, and a new officer education system has been introduced to replace wartime promotion practices based on loyalty rather than competence. Defense planners report that a unified chain of command is now in place for the majority of active units.

Infrastructure reconstruction has also advanced. Several major bases and logistics hubs damaged during the war have been rebuilt or reopened, and a centralized supply and maintenance system is gradually replacing the ad hoc arrangements that characterized the civil war years. Partner nations have delivered modern wheeled armored vehicles, communications equipment, and support vehicles, allowing some units to transition away from aging and mismatched platforms. Despite all these advances, the mission has faced persistent obstacles. Recruitment and vetting remain uneven in some provinces, particularly in areas most affected by the war, and tensions occasionally surface within units composed of former rival factions. Security incidents near training facilities and supply routes have highlighted the fragile nature of the process.

In the next few months, ASM officials have indicated that recruitment and training for a special forces unit, consisting of only Ostlanders and Vanukeans, will take place. This new unit, called the "National Active Special Response Unit", will consist of some former Ostlander and Vanukean militia members, trained in combat primarily within their regions. The unit is expected to become one of the most elite forces within the Republic, trained by Egelian and Xsampan special forces over the coming year. 

The Absolute Support Mission is currently authorized through the end of next year, with its mandate reviewed annually. For a country still grappling with the legacy of civil war, the rebuilding of its army is widely seen as a central pillar of long-term stability, one that remains incomplete but no longer merely theoretical.

Reconstruction projects, from repaired transport networks to water systems, have already slowed as funds tighten, and program managers involved with the Absolute Support Mission caution that trimmed budgets could delay training and equipping of key military units. Some veteran groups, who were promised support during earlier reconstruction acts, have pledged renewed protests, while development experts suggest that reduced civilian spending will dampen economic momentum in rural regions still struggling to recover.

Additionally, Khasar has faced his first mutiny from within his party, showing the broad tent of the PAP also has its practical downsides. Markets responded relatively well to the news, seeing the cut back in spending as a sign of good and responsive government. The fact that Khasar, despite earlier threatening to replace the Court of Auditors, eventually listened to its concerns has also improved market confidence. The effects on the move will likely become visible in the next few weeks, as the country continues its bumpy road to recovery.

Bianjie - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally requested the extradition of former Gaoist President Argat from Bianjie, seeking to put the former president on trial in the new Republic. The High Court had already indicted the former head of state for conspiracy, crimes against humanity and treason. Following the indictment, the Ministry of Justice issued a so called "writ of extradition" to the MoFA, calling on the ministry to ask for extradition from Bianjie, the country where the former president has been held since the end of the civil war. 

If approved, Argat will be transported to the Hall of Justice in the capital of Baatrynsentii where he will be held in a maximum security prison, protected by the Home Guard, until his trial at the High Court will commence. The court, appointed by President Khasar, is expecting the trial to last nearly a year, as prosecutors will have to present their case and the former president will be allowed to mount a legal defense, with the High Court having appointed renowned war-time lawyer Albert von Kriegshehr to lead Argat's defense. 

The request is likely to be fullfilled in the coming months, with Bianjie having repeatedly indicated that it seeks Argat's trial within the new Republic of New Verham, wishing to support the country in ending its dark chapter of civil war by itself.
