Dolgavan ski towns are experiencing record numbers of visitors and profits at the beginning of this winter, as Dolgavans look for more leisure activities. A sign economists say is a factor of a "growing economy". Dolgavan ski resort towns are known throughout Keris, with destinations like Konstanja which has been a popular resort destination for centuries, and the Dolgavan royal family has winter palace there.

The growing wealth for the Dolgavan middle class due to Dolgava's growing economy has led to more and more people opening their pockets and spending money on vacations. This has helped the resort communities to be filled with money and tourism during both the summer and winter months.

Ski resorts are now at a shortage of workers due to the demand for their services, and there are reports of resorts being "extremely optimistic" by the current numbers attending the resorts. With the season now just beginning, the forecast shows that more and more activity will be in Dolgava's mountains, and that in Dolgava winter recreation will be extremely profitable and busy.

March 4th 5629

Queen Jaanika flew to Bekenial the capital of Hutori, to meet on the Dolgavan Government's behalf to meet with the Hutorian Royal Family and the Hutorian government.

After landing in Hutori, Jaanika visited the official residence of the Dolgavan royal family before visiting with the Hutorian royals especially with King Richard II and Crown Prince Albert. The visit helped to foster good relations between the Hutorian and Dolgavan royal families, helping to rekindle a relationship between the two families that has lasted hundreds of years and helped foster a alliance and friendship that has spanned centuries.

Following this she met with the new Liberal Government in Hutori, speaking at length with the Hutorian Prime Minister  Michael Kensington, the two had a long conversation about geopolitical affairs, and their shared interest in global financial and political affairs. The Queen sent a gift from the Dolgavan Government, and an invitation for them to visit Aikums at a later date, if they so choose.

After this Jaanika spent some time skiing in the grandeur of the Hutori's many mountains, and teaching her young children to ski before making a final stop at the Dolgavan Royal Family's estate and then the Royal Family flew back to Hutori. In a statement from the Royal Palace, the Queen was "overjoyed" to be welcomed so warmly by Hutori, and said that "I am glad that Dolgava and Hutori are forging a new pathway toward cooperation and friendship moving forward". The Royal Family is expected to spend more time at their estate in Hutori, and spend more time visiting with the Hutorian Royals

For the Dolgavan Queen, it was a homecoming and a visit of some old friends. For Dolgava it was the beginning of a new relationship with one of Dolgava's closest allies. Dolgava is clearly going to support their old allies through the thick and thin, and Jaanika made that very clear today.

In a near unanimous vote, the Reiksaima approved the draft of the Organization of Northern Economic Cooperation (ONEC), and it was passed and approved by the Dolgavan Prime Minister Toivo Meri in a ceremony today. The organization will link Dolgava closer to both Dorvik and Egelion economically, and will ensure that the three like-minded states have easier access to trade and economic partnerships with each other. With Dolgava having close economic ties with Egelion and Dorvik already, it was a natural progression to streamline trade with both of these countries.

The agreement puts the three like minded states together in a closer economic agreement, which will have positive impacts on the member states. Toivo Meri when signing the treaty called it a "remarkable agreement", and said that

Quote:Egelion and Dorvik are two nations that have economic and political goals similar to the Kingdom of Dolgava. They are also beacons of stability and peace in Keris and Artania respectively. This agreement is good for all parties involved, and will help better link our economies together through trade and business.

With growing tensions and extremism in Artania, and Makon, the need for stable and like minded sane states to band together is growing stronger and stronger, and it is clear the ONEC will more than likely expand to other states across the north, with Hutori being mentioned as the next state to be added to the agreement. Dolgava is geopolitically positioning itself to be a voice of reason, in a growing bastion of extremism and chaos, that is Terra, and order is slowly coming of the geopolitical chaos.

Toivo Meri's the embattled Dolgavan Prime Minister, has now received a massive shot across the bow, with his own Justice Minister announcing that the Dolgavan Ministry of Justice is investigating an apparent money laundering scheme, which was discovered in their investigation into the conflict of interest charge. The investigators found that he has been laundering money for most of his time as Prime Minister, with money going to an LLC, connected to his position as board member of the Hulstrian Institute for Marine Inquiry (HIMI). The funds which transferred from the account were deemed to be of questionable origin, and it seems that government funds were used to enrich Meri's personal account.

The Minister of Justice Krista Vītoliņa announced in a press conference that her department would be investigating these claims as well saying that there is "sufficient evidence of money laundering" by Prime Minister Toivo Meri. She further announced that the Ministry of Justice will do a unbiased and through investigation into these crimes, and that justice "will be served".

The Prime Minister and his office have made no comments, but there are rumors and leaks showing that the Prime Minister is very upset by the ongoing investigations, and he is attempting to make no public comments as to avoid further criticism. The media and opposition leaders have come out against him sharply with the Leader of the Opposition calling him "feckless" and former Prime Minister Jaanus Jogi calling him a "crook".

The Meri Government was expecting to have a simple second term in governance, but the scandals are pilling up and Toivo Meri is becoming a problem for his government and the country.

The DPP has wrapped up its leadership elections, and an old face has come back to the party, ready to lead. Jaanus Jogi, the former Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Dolgava, was elected leader with a triumphant 77% of the vote from the party. In his first speech back as leader of the party he said that "politics in Aikums is broken, and I am here to fix it!"

He immediately went on the attack, attacking the current Prime Minister and the Conservatitve Government for corruption and for the numerous scandals and praised the Ministry of Justice for taking action on what he called "monumental corruption of the highest order". He said that he will be meeting with the Leader of the Opposition to possibly get a Vote of No Confidence in the current Government, and try to bring it to the voters. In current polls, the DSP are in the lead, with the DPP rising significantly, to be tied for second with the conservatives. If they can get an election, it would crash the Conservative majority.

Jaanus Jogi is a safe pick for the party, and someone who is growing in popularity once again. Dolgavans are getting very anxious with scandals, and many people disgusted by the current Government. Jaanus Jogi is currently trailing the Leader of the Opposition Bonaventūra Krauze in popularity across the country, but he is ahead of the Justice Minister Krista Vītoliņa who is the most popular Conservative politician for having the guts and morals to take on her own Prime Minister for corruption. Jogi if he can keep up the attacks, will probably rise in popularity.

For the DPP, having a popular leader again will certainly help it gain back support nationally. For the Conservatives a strong DPP, could be disastrous for its own party and its government which is currently in crisis. The DPP has the position of putting a dagger into the heart of the Conservatives, will Jogi take advantage of this?

The long awaited investigation into Prime Minister Toivo Meri, is still in the works, but the opposition parties decided to take matters in their own hands and remove the Prime Minister through a Vote of No Confidence. After much debate the motion was put forward, and the debate in the Reiksaima commenced.

The Leader of the Opposition Bonaventūra Krauze slammed the Prime Minister calling him "demeaning in the office of Prime Minister", and she spoke on the floor of the Reiksaima, calling out the Government for "incredible deception and corruption". She said that "if any of you have a shred of decency, you would send a message to the Prime Minister, that the Reiksaima has no confidence in him!

The next to speak was Jaanus Jogi, who slammed the Prime Minister, saying that if he had done similar actions as Prime Minister, he would he resigned on the spot, in shame. He called the current Government, a "bastion of crookery", and said that "Meri should do the right thing, and start answering for his actions".

There were some in the Conservative ranks that were at first looking to back the motion, but as the night progressed, the Conservative ranks held firm behind the Prime Minister. The party as a whole has been shielded from the attacks, as there are many who have criticized the Prime Minister from that party, however with the party leadership, backing the embattled Prime Minister, and the rank and file doing so as well, the floodgates for attacking the Conservatives have now opened up.

The vote followed Party lines, with 2 Conservatives bucking the Prime Minister and voting no confidence. Bonaventūra Krauze called the actions of the Conservative backbenchers "a national disgrace", and made her exit from the chamber, in a red outfit, which has gone viral.

Toivo Meri has been silent on the topic, having a press conference today, congratulating the Dolgavan Queen on a charity goal she met earlier this week. He has been keeping press appearances to a minimum, and has only been available for media outlets that are friendly to him, and will not bring up his growing scandals.

For now the Prime Minister is holding onto power. The reason is simple, a sitting Prime Minister can be tried and prosecuted, but cannot go on trial while he/she is PM. The Conservative Party has no means to forcefully remove a party leader and Prime Minister from amongst their party, the only option was a Vote of No Confidence in the Reiksaima, and that has failed. Despite his popularity tanking, and his party on the verge of tanking, Meri is clinging to power.

October 5th 5630 [Backdated]

In a legal case from the Office of Prime Minister against his own justice department, the case stalled before going to the highest court in Dolgava, the Dolgavan Supreme Court. The case was expedited before the court, and today they have made their decision. The decision is a huge blow to the Prime Minister, and his case.

The case was put forward by the "Office of Prime Minister" in which they argued that the ongoing criminal investigations into Toivo Meri, are unconstitutional, and that Toivo's actions were "official acts" and apart of his duties as PM. The Ministry of Justice argued that this was a obstruction of justice, and that what Toivo was doing by bringing the Supreme Court into this, was a constitutional crisis. In a surprising twist, the Minister of Justice Krista Vītoliņa has held her integrity against her own Prime Minister, and carried out the investigations.

The court decided over a period of two weeks and came to the unanimous decision that the investigation was lawful, and that the actions of Toivo Meri were against the Dolgavan justice system and the constitution. It was a major victory for the opposition as well, with the Leader of the Opposition calling the dysfunction in Dolgavan Government a "Conservative Civil War"...

Toivo still cannot be prosecuted when he is Prime Minister, and he cannot be removed except through a vote of no confidence, which his party cannot accept because it would lead to instant elections. The crisis is growing, and now the Supreme Court has stepped in, saving the investigations.

For Dolgava we are reaching unprecedented times, and we are seeing the erosion of democracy in the name of corruption...

August 1st 5631

Toivo Meri has seemingly launched a political thermonuclear missile, and fired his own Minister of Justice Krista Vītoliņa. Today she was sacked by the Prime Minister Toivo Meri. This comes after she has been the very public face of the Ministry of Justice, and has launched investigations into the conduct of the Prime Minister, and been actively pushing back against his attempts to subvert justice.

The decision came in the early hours of the morning with a leak that the Prime Minister was demanding the resignation of Krista Vītoliņa, or he would fire her, which is a constitutional power of the Prime Minister. She refused and thus, at 9 am local time, she was officially sacked as Dolgava's Justice Minister.

The Prime Minister was immediately lambasted from all sides, with allies of Vītoliņa calling for the Prime Minister to go. However despite this, most in the Conservative Party, back the PM, and support him, because if he goes, that would mean a near certain election loss for the party as a whole.

For the Opposition Leader Bonaventūra Krauze, it was a "slap in the face" and she is calling for his immediate removal saying that he is "dragging our country into lawlessness..."

Soon afterwards, at noon, Krista Vītoliņa spoke to the media in a tearful press conference saying she was retiring from politics, and that she was "extremely disappointing" by the actions of the Prime Minister. She said that she devoted her life to serving the people of Dolgava, and upholding justice, and that she will not devote her life to taking care of her children.

More and more Dolgavans are getting fed up with Toivo Meri, with protests now being lined up to take place for the next two weeks. The protestors will be demanding he goes.

In a press conference today, Toivo Meri, said that the investigations and such were a massive "witch-hunt", and that the Dolgavan people voted for a stable government, and that "There are many inside of government and in the opposition sowing the seeds of chaos and discord".

The Dolgavan Prime Minister is seemingly clinging to power, as he and his party falls. However he is clearly going to sidestep democracy in exchange for holding onto power as long as possible. It is a dangerous position for Dolgava to be in...
