Baatrynsentii - Hemmed in by a hostile Congress, battered by an emboldened opposition, and staring down the very real prospect of defeat in the next general election, President Bor Khasar now faces a threat closer to home: a brutal primary battle within his own People’s Action Party. Under newly introduced rules implemented by Khasar himself, a primary election is held one year before each general election, meant to fuel enthusiasm within the base and gear up for the general election campaign. But the rule meant to help him stay in power, might actually cause him to lose it. While the primary isnt due till april next year, the field is already filling up with candidates eager to take on the current head of state. 

While candidates include a variety of congressional representatives and provincial governors, eyes have been mostly on two contendors believed to be in the best position to defeat the President. Current Minister for State Security Husun Mutugen has been the most looked at, being a prominent figure within the Khasar government who has openly critiqued the president despite the risk to his own position. So far, Mutugen has stayed loyal and has refused to enter the primary, but supporters believe his conservative nature could help the country to push through its current "moral and economic crisis." Another contendor could be Mönkhdevshilist purist Teguder Ahmad Tuva. Tuva, currently governor of Altaai, is a Mönkhdevshilist by nature, alligned with the President his own ideals. But his more populist tone, combined with his rejection of the ASM, have landed him quite the following with a primarily young audience seeking change and progress. 

Despite the gathering storm, Khasar still leads in early internal polling, thanks largely due to his legacy as a civil war leader and unifier of the state. Allies point to ongoing negotiations for expanded economic aid as a potential lifeline, proof, they argue, that the president still has the leverage and experience to deliver when it counts.

But the margin for error has all but vanished. Rivals smell blood, party discipline is fraying, and the political atmosphere has grown dangerously volatile. In such conditions, even a minor misstep could be fatal. The rules Khasar once designed to secure his future may now decide whether his presidency ends with a renewed mandate or a humiliating defeat at the hands of his own party.

Schloss an der Hügel - In the Hallwächter Palace, just outside of the Südlander city of Schloss an der Hügel, representatives from Bianjie, Xsampa and New Verham could be seen stepping out of its grand entrance and onto a pre-prepared stage. The three, standing next to eachother, announced that in a landmark move aimed at stabilizing New Verham’s postwar economy, the governments of Bianjie, New Verham and Xsampa would create the Reconstruction and Stability Agency (RASA), a multilateral economic organization designed to inject capital, oversee structural reforms, and gradually restore New Verham's economic sovereignty. President Bor Khasar, who has been seeking additional support from international allies since the collapse of the New Verham economy and a stagnating reconstruction process, welcomed the announcement as a “turning point for recovery.” Khasar instructed his cabinet to negotiate aid packages from partners including Bianjie and Xsampa, resulting in both the creation of RASA and the expansion of the Absolute Support Mission (ASM), tasked with training and equipping the New Verham Defense Force.

The new agency, to become a independently operated entity, will focus its initial investments on key sectors essential to jumpstarting the economy, including energy, transportation, agriculture, and exports. Plans include modernizing power grids, repairing railways, upgrading ports, and supporting food production, while also stabilizing the state budget and currency. Private investment is being encouraged through risk guarantees and arbitration mechanisms. Bianjie and Xsampa will invest billions into the agency, as will Luthori as a financial backer, while RASA itself will be responsible for investing and diverting the funds to where its needed.

But these massive investments will not come without costs. In a effort to prevent another economic collapse and preserve the integrity of the new Republic and its institutions, RASA officials will audit ministries, enforce anti-corruption rules, restructure state industries, and place advisors in key economic institutions. The goal, according to agency documents, is to “ensure long-term stability while building capacity within New Verham’s own government.” Reactions within New Verham have been mixed. Some citizens expressed hope that the agency’s support could finally end years of economic stagnation and mismanaged reconstruction, while others worried that the structural reforms could disproportionately impact vulnerable populations. “I just hope they’re not asking us to pay for mistakes we didn’t make,” said one local shopkeeper.

President Khasar himself had hoped that the announcement of RASA could have solved his unpopularity issue ahead of this years primary election. These hopes have proven to be false however. President Khasar remains a polarizing figure. Supporters commend his ability to secure international assistance, while critics accuse him of “selling out” national sovereignty. Political analysts note that the success of RASA may play a crucial role in shaping Khasar’s standing ahead of the primary. Although it remains unclear whether its effects will be noticable within such a short timeframe. 

Looking forward, RASA may evolve beyond New Verham, potentially serving as a regional economic stabilization agency under Dovanian leadership once the country is firmly on its feet. In that sense, today’s announcement may represent not just recovery for New Verham, but the beginnings of a broader framework for economic resilience across the region. With the additional extension of the ASM, the NVDF will also be allowed to continue its training program and use newly freed up funding to purchase the equipment needed for its operations. All in all, the deal is seen as a succes by international observers, one that may prove to be pivotal in securing a stable future for New Verham and the broader region.

Baatrynsentii - Yeke Anarba might have "only" won the PAP primary, not holding political office as of yet, but is quickly winning over the hearts and minds of the people of New Verham. In a effort to introduce himself to the wider public, the presidential hopefull launched his "Tour for the Republic" last month, pledging to visit all 32 provinces in the coming year and talk directly with voters on issues of reconstruction, poverty and democracy. His town halls, sometimes replaced by "city festivals", have attracted millions in the last few weeks as the PAP party apparatus books large venues and pumps out invitation and TV ad after one another. His direct approach, often involving those attending his events directly, has already earned him credits with a large chunk of the population. 

While initially rather unknown, Anarba is now quickly rising in both name recognition and likeability, with a recent early election poll putting him at 62% of the vote, defeating any other candidate in the race. Oppossition parties, already struggling to gain momentum following the PAP primary, have seen their organization collapse as the PAP "siphons away all oxygen in this campaign." The Democratic Progressives, currently oppossition leader, even scored below the electoral treshold of 5% in a recent poll, sparking fear that Anarba's popularity might cost them representation in the supreme congress. 

While Anarba is winning over the public, the incumbent government has announced that RASA is now fully operational, with the first talks on to be implemented reforms now underway. Acting President Dogar Altan has announced that Minister of Finance Anarba Khudu (not to be confused with Yeke Anarba) will be in charge of implementation of the necessary reforms, with the Ministry given a blank check to approve any outcome resulting from RASA negotiations. The first billions have also been pouring into the country, with the Altaai Commercial Port project being one of the first "mega-projects" to be undertaken under the agency. The project is set to modernize and significantly expand the Altaai Commercial Port, becoming a vital transportation hub for New Verham. Additionally, small business loans have been made available by the RASA Businesses Bureau (RASABB) meant to support young entrepeneurs seeking to launch their own business. The subsidies are meant to help these businesses find and pay for accomodation and inventory in the first year of opening up, while being available to tech start-ups to fund R&D and the necessary infrastructure. 

These first projects will likely help the economy stabilize, with currency controls also being discussed to stabilize the Guilder, which has taken a free fall following the latest crisis. Former president Khasar has fully retreated from public life, having handed over the presidency to Prime Minister Altan several months ago. Khasar is said to be residing out of the country, visiting family following what his office describes as "a chaotic period in the general his life."
