STEFANISTI - Our brave Imperial forces have launched a descisive counterattack against the traitors in the north. With precision and determination, several units of the Grand Imperial Army have broken through defensive lines, plowing through enemy formations and bringing back more territory for the Deltarian people. As this conflict continues it becomes increasingly clearer that the rebel cause is a lost cause. Our factories are humming in Daraki, our soldiers are marching in the Crownlands and our Emperor leads all with great pride towards victory. 

Additionally our Emperor has signed a decree that lists all FPA forces as traitors to the crown, demanding their capture and trial as well as revoking their Deltarian citizenship. We commend our leader for his principled leadership. Together, we shall stand against the forces of evil that seek to destroy our sacred empire. The foreign vultures of Istalia and Hutori shall be removed from our land, our people will prevail. Long live the Emperor!

TSARGRAD - Despite being put on the back foot by a northern offensive just months ago the Free People's Army has been making a remarkable comeback, pushing close to Tsargrad as Imperial officials evacuate the city. The Imperial's Northern Offensive had almost broken rebel forces in half, forcing them on the retreat. Hutori had remained neutral but moved forces close to the conflict in the last year, culminating in a air strike campaign against Thaller forces three months ago that descisively broke down the Imperial military. While already weakened after 1.5 years of conflict, a targetted air campaign completely crippled the Imperial Army, with rebels allowed breathing room to mount their own offensives. 

Within a month rebel forces had retaken the initiative, pushing back the Imperial Army. Additionally the Imperial pocket in Balgrad was starved of supplies and surrendered, scuttling a majority of the Deltarian fleet just before their surrender to deny its capabilities to the rebels. In the east, rebel forces pushed Imperial forces out of most of the border area, working with Jakanian and Kafuristan's border guards in order to prevent the conflict from spilling over. 

Now, after nearly 2 years of brutal fighting, FPA forces are closing in on the Imperial capital of Tsargrad. But it is likely not going to be an easy victory, with a pocket of at least 10.000 Thaller loyalists well entrenched in the city and using its massive urban landscape to their advantage. Emperor Slavko has already called this the "decisive battle" and has ordered his forces to not surrender. In the last few months at least 50.000 Thallerist soldiers have surrendered, but the remaining fighters are believed to be loyal to their core, likely to mount a stiff defense of Deltaria's largest city. FPA representative Duke Valentin has announced that FPA forces will besiege the capital, giving Imperial forces a chance to surrender by themselves. They have asked all civilians to leave the city, with Jakanian authorities reportedly readying themselves for a stream of refugees from the city of 12 million. 

But as the conflict seemingly nears its end, many wonder what will come of Deltaria. At least 201.303 Deltarians have perished in the conflict, which has been the largest conflict on Deltarian soil in centuries. It is likely to leave intense scars, scars that need healing by a new government. The FPA has already contacted the Branovician Republic, seeking to form a constitutional conference to determine a new Deltarian constitution. One thing is clear, the nation will have to heal for years to come.

Cahtica - Emperor Slavko XI is dead at the age of 85. Coming to power when he was 50 years old, the late Emperor inherited a broken country torn apart by years of civil war. Under Slavko XI the broken Augustan Empire managed to return to some normalcy. Cities were rebuild, families reunited and government restored. But scars remained, especially with those that had lost. Nearly 400.000 Deltarians had lost their life during the civil war, Deltarian prestige was in ruins and its military and economic power diminished. Despite his accomplishments for our nation, Emperor Slavko XI made a mistake his predecessors made as well. Despite calls for a new government, he kept a strict hold on power. His secret police force, the special national gendarmerie, rounded up political opponnents and monitored the battered population. Parliament was still abolished, political parties banned, and the Emperor himself guided the country through the turmoil. 

Slavko, despite his attempts, was unable to produce an heir in time. His son, Vjekoslav, just turned 7 last week and has been kept within the walls of the imperial palace. Current defense minister Sreten Trkulja has reportedly taken over in his capacity as regent, becoming de-facto head of state and government. Despite this seemingly smooth transition of government, the sudden death of Slavko has caused a ripple effect throughout the imperial government. Advisors of the Emperor, out of favor with Trkulja, have left the capital and the countless factions that were kept in check by Slavko are now showing their heads. Crown prince Vjekoslav is still unable to govern until at least his 14th birthday, sparking rumours that Trkulja will attempt to consolidate his new executive position in the coming weeks. 

Let us mourn the late emperor, for despite his flaws, his guidance has helped heal our beloved nation.

Cahtica - Reports of soldiers in the capital and surrounding the "Duha" (imperial palace) have reached our news desk. While regent Sreten Trkulja was to address the nation in a televised speech this morning, all news channels focussed on the images of soldiers breaking down the palace gates and setting up in strategic locations through the capital city. The mere image of soldiers in the imperial capital was shocking to most Deltarians. Since the end of the civil war, the capital and its surrounding areas were declared a demilitarized zone, with no military presence allowed. Only the Special National Gendarmerie had a presence in the capital, ensuring the emperor maintained a strict grip on power. 

Tensions between various factions have boiled over this last month. Liberals, led by scholar Domagoj Batinić, had pushed the regent to use this period of transition to reintroduce democracy in Deltaria. On the exact oppossite was the Imperial, conservative faction, trying to do what it can to preserve the status quo. Regent Trkulja himself has tried to venture his own path, reportedly focussing on gaining the trust of the SNG and using it to take out his own rivals. The socialists have used the chaos in government to take to the streets, with banned labour unions now demanding better working rights and thousands attempting to force the imperial government to change. 

The situation in the capital has so far been chaotic. It is unclear what the soldiers are attempting to do, with little to now news being communicated with media outlets. From what we can see on the ground, the army is attempting to arrest Trkulja and take over the capital. Soldiers are dressed in all-green outfits and none are talking to reporters. Are these the liberals managing to convince the military of their wanted change? Or will we face a military dictatorship, eager to continue imperial opression in a different coat?

Cahtica - White flags are waving throughout the capital. Drums beating in the distance, soldiers standing on street corners. The whispers of the lady down the street still echoe through the alleyways, but for the most part the city is waiting in suspense. As the drum beats get louder, the few windows that were open close. Footsteps follow the drum beats, as hundreds waving white and blue flags enter the streets. "Our Empire, Our Freedom, Our Destiny!" the crowd yells. In front walks Dragoslav Krsmanović, former poet and exile. Krsmanović reads out from his book "and as the people resist, the regime crumbles, no force as great as the breath of a thousand oppressed." 

Krsmanović and his people have been marching for two days. Starting at the Jakanian border and making their way towards the capital. Soldiers did not dare stop them, police stood by, thousands joined him during the march. Now they come closer to the Duha (Spirit in Daralian). The symbol of imperial power, now left defenseless as the regime faces its end. But the military is not standing by out of fear or weakness. Just two days ago they dragged the Imperial Regent Trkulja out of the Duha, forcing him to write the "letter of reconcilitation". A pledge to the Deltarian people, that their will would be heard. This letter alone was enough for Krsmanović to cross the Jakanian border and start his "March on the Duha". Since then, Trkulja has been held captive at a military facility. It has since become clear that the apparant coup was orchestrated by disgruntled officers alligning with liberal politicians. These officers, angered over their lack of influence under the Slavko regime, saw their chance in his death and took power. The entire military now seems to be on board. 

The general consensus seems to be that the regent Trkulja was not to be allowed a free hand in reigning. More radical elements of the military were calling for an end to the monarchy. However, large swathes of the top-brass can still be considered monarchist, causing friction. The letter of reconciliation is seen as a compromise, a way forward. The March on the Duha for its part is seen as the solution. As soon as Krsmanović started the march, soldiers stood by. Clear orders were seemingly issued not to interfere with the march. Now, thousands of "blue and whites" have entered the capital city to preach for Krsmanović. His vision for a democratic Deltaria, freed of Thaller oppression and ready to take on the world. Dreams run wild, but the reality on the ground is complex. Different interests, countless factions and a crown prince in house arrest. Will this fire be tamed, or will the country face even more chaos?

Cahtica - In the first democratic election in centuries, the reformed Conservative Democratic Union has managed to win a absolute majority of seats, ensuring that a hosian democratic prime minister is likely to take control of a new to be formed government. Nearly a year ago, the march on duha shocked the country and a wave of change was on all Deltarian minds. That change came slower then expected. While the military allowed the march to happen, they did not allow a complete overhaul of the status quo. After storming the Duha, protestors demanded an end to the monarchy. What followed was months of back and forth between a military eager for gradual change and a population eager for radical change. 

With both sides having different thoughts, it wasnt a suprise that the end result would be a compromise. For the first time in a century, Deltaria would get its constitution back, with amendments being introduced to ensure democracy would make its reintroduction in a country long ruled by absolute monarchs. In return, the monarchy would be preserved, but be limited in its power, handing over day to day duties to the newly established Imperial cabinet. Imperial Congress was to be reintroduced, with the 310 seat Chamber of Deputies as a lower house and the 100 seat Imperial Senate as the upper house. Regent Trkulja, still under house arrest, was allowed to keep his position of regent until Emperor Vjekoslav comes of age. Trkulja himself will be even more limited in his power, as under this new constitution, a regent onlt performs ceremonial duties during a regency and is not allowed to wield any actual power. In contrast, a sitting emperor is still granted considerable influence in government thanks to military pressure, although this power will thus no longer be absolute. 

The KDU, reformed several times throughout history, has now thus won the first election of the Chamber of Deputies. KDU leader Silvije Horvat thanked his supporters for their trust. Despite their absolute majority, Horvat has promised to enter talks with the Ushalande National Party, a party that only participated in Ushalande, in a effort to form a coalition government "that can build on the trust of all Deltarian people and can push our country out of its long isolation." The Social Democratic Labour Party has become the second largest party, capturing 70 seats in the chamber of deputies. The party of March leader Dragoslav Krsmanović, the Liberal Democratic Alliance, has become the third party, with 37 seats. Other parties that won representation were the Social Liberals, the New Greens, the Ushalande National Party and the Movement for a Better Tomorrow.

Cahtica - For nearly two years Silvije Horvat has ruled Deltaria as Prime Minister. For the first time in a century, Deltaria has been governed by a democratically elected government. A weak regent, combined with a still underaged crown prince, have given this democratic government extra ordinary powers to govern the country without royal interference. The decision by military leadership to also withold from pressuring said government have resulted in relative stability. 

The Augustan Empire under Horvat has already accomplished more in two years then it was able to for decades under the late Emperor. Horvat's "Program for the Poor" has elevated nearly 1 million Deltarians from relative poverty, by investing into the provinces rather then the larger cities. This policy has improved public services and infrastructure in the provinces, allowing people better opportunities to succeed. Another highly succesfull program has been the Deltarian Advancement Tax Initiative (DATI) which allows low-income workers to receive a refundable tax credit based on their earnings.The more someone works (up to a limit), the larger their benefit. If income rises, the credit gradually phases out to encourage advancement rather than dependency. The DATI alone has been able to improve the position of the middle class and get more people out of lower-income jobs. 

Horvat has also used his governments power to increase the authority of provinces. Political reforms have made the position of governor a elected one, while provincial legislatures are allowed to install their own taxes and work related programs. While the Empire is still unitary in essence, increased responsibilities for provincial governments have led to greater flexibility for local economies. In his "State of the Empire" speech, held last week in the Duha, Prime Minister Horvat further outlined his vision for the Empire. One significant hope is reapproachment towards Istalia, with Horvat explaining the "great opportunities" that lay ahead if the two countries could come closer together. Additionally, he announced a major program to rebuild the Deltarian military, which has fallen behind due to years of mismanagement and economic hardship. With the country now growing at a steady 4% annually, combined with lowering unemployment and inflation, Horvat sees the time is right to focus on defense again. 

"Our nation's history is build on hardship, with our military defending us throughout. I am of the firm believe that a strong Augustan Empire may only succeed with a strong military. The pillars of this government are build on the economy and our security. We will deliver on both as we look towards a brighter future." 
Oppossition parties have condemned Horvat's vision, calling it "a step into the past" and looking for a greater focus on citizen welfare.

Stefanisti - With a renewed focus on defense by the Horvat administration the Imperial Deltarian Armed Forces (IDAF) will likely face a significant investment, paired with renewed efforts to significantly reform it. Despite fears of potential military anger, it seems that military leadership also agrees that reforms are needed to make it combat effective once more. The reality of warfare and the situation in Majatra have changed, prompting the need for a changed doctrine as well. The Imperial Ministry of War presented its plan for a modern military last sunday, emphasized several key changes during the presentation of the Cvetko Report, named after Colonel Tomislav Cvetko that was heavily involved in the creation of the report. Some highlights from the report:

1. A reduced, but effective army
The Grand Imperial Army has long been the dominant force within the IDAF, used for both keeping imperial power at home, and projecting it abroad. The reality however is that large scale conflict on Majatran soil is rare. Where formerly major wars were fought between Vanuku and Deltaria, as well as Deltaria and its other neighbours, this hasnt happened in centuries. Facing this new reality, the army will shrink. Instead of massive battle formations, the Ministry seeks to create a relatively compact, battle ready and mechanized force. No more then 150.000 soldiers should serve in the army, with most of these soldiers serving in mechanized or mobile infantry brigades if it is up to the Ministry. This, combined with cutting the artillery corps in half, would result in a more mobile, but less bulky force. Helping Deltaria face the realities of modern warfare. 

2. Air superiority
A new doctrine, according to the Cvetko report, should strive for air superiority in battle. By having a relatively large and capable multirole fighter corps the Deltarian air force could rule the sky and provide adequate ground support. Combined with air superiority fighters and dedicated AA on home soil, the airforce should become capable, but primarily stronger then its ever been. A strong airforce could not just protect Deltarian cities, but also protect Deltarian troops and ships. Air will play a major role in future Deltarian warfare. 

3. Naval stopping power
Not a navy to dominate, but a navy to penetrate. The Imperial Navy will need both air and submersible power, but should not strive for total domination. Instead, Deltaria should be capable to conduct small operations globally to protect its interests, but primarily have the strength to break through the Majatran Straits in case of need. This way, the navy does no longer become a pit for excessive military spending, but a force aimed at efficiency and strength. 

4. Modern means
Drones, AI weapon systems and cyber combat should get a new, prominent role. Investments in these systems should be a priority, with the return of the seperate cyber branch of the military as a primary goal. By intergrating the future within Deltarian doctrine, it will be able to stay ahead of competitors in the long run. 

The Cvetko report has been handed to Minister of War Nikolina Vujnović and Prime Minister Horvat. The signs of change are ramming on the doors of the military, with many wondering whether Deltaria will return as a important military power in the region.

Romula - Prime Minister Horvat met with his Istalian counterpart Fabrizio Moccia in a historic state visit in the Istalian capital of Romula. Hinted at during Horvat's electoral campaign, a warming of relations between the two nations was long on the agenda. With domestic affairs largely in calm waters and military reforms underway, Horvat saw his responsibility to approach Istalian leaders. Yesterday, the moment was there. In what is not a official state visit but rather a "state meeting", the Istalian leader Moccia met Horvat on the Romula international airport, both posing for pictures of a handshake that many did no longer expect to ever take place.

The handshake is so historic mainly because of the animosity between the two states. Ever since the Thaller family took the Deltarian throne, Deltaria has refused to recognize Istalia as a state and the two have not maintained diplomatic relations. As Horvat shaked Moccia's hand, the two made their way to the Antinori Palace, the working residence of the Istalian Prime Minister. Once there, in front of media from both countries, both Moccia and Horvat put their signature under the "Istalian-Deltarian Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Recognition", with both countries recognizing eachothers sovereignty and existence, setting up official diplomatic relations and expressing their desire for "continued partnership for the betterment of the Majatran continent". 

In the following press conference, Horvat apologized "for years of uncertainty", saying that Deltaria not recognizing Istalia "caused fear and uncertainty for both countries." Additionally, Horvat brought with him a piece of paper with the signature of the current regent, recognizing that the Thaller branch of Deltaria "fully supports the Imperial governments decision to recognize Istalia." Even though many believe the document to be forced on the regent, it is still binding. After the short visit, Horvat went back to the airfield and boarded the state plane. Moccia and Horvat expressed their committment to further this renewed relationship in the near future, hoping to form a strong block with which to strengthen Majatra. Horvat hinted and reviving SOMECO, allowing Istalia to join the organization (which has long been prevented by subsequent Deltarian governments.)

One thing is for sure. This historic visit has single handidly changed the course of both our beloved Deltaria, as well as the Imperial State of Istalia.

Cahtica - Secretary of Foreign Affairs Costi Bus has expressed "serious concerns" over the recent closure of the Grand Canal in Vanuku. While Deltarian trade barely flows through the canal, a remnant of old conflicts between the two nations, the actions by Wiel do raise concerns for the imperial government that similar actions, such as potentially blocking the Majatran strait, could be seen in the (near) future. Secretary Bus stated that the Secretariat is monitoring the situation in Vanuku and is in close contact with regional partners within Majatra. 

Diplomatic channels between Vanuku and Deltaria have been shaky throughout their history. While official diplomatic relations exist, both governments rarely are in contact. This "vacuum" of information is partially responsible for the concerns expressed within the secretariat. Additionally, Deltaria is only now on a trajectory of economic growth and rebuilding its military, with the country currently in no position to challenge any action by Wiel. Despite this precarious situation, Secretary Bus, Minister of War Nikolina Vujnović and other colleagues within the Imperial Cabinet are in close contact with one another to see what options are on the table in an effort to defend Deltarian interests. One such option is deploying regular drone patrols on the Majatran Sea, which could be used in the absence of capable naval patrols. Such a measure would allow Deltaria to keep an eye on the sea, potentially being quicker in their response may Wiel further extend its "worrying" actions. 

For now however it remains crystal clear that besides a frown and words of concern, Deltaria is not to challenge Wiel's actions at this moment.
