Defending cultural institutions and expanding them; Support for writers, museums, artists and more.
The Quesada Administration has looked to provide support for Gaduri cultural institutions and Gaduri culture in general with a rather unorthodox approach. First and foremost, writers and artists will receive a tax cut to ensure that they can focus on producing books and or artwork as it's argued that writers and artists contribute immensely to Gaduri culture and need to be supported. Alongside this, museums will receive support in modernizations to ensure that they are upheld to modern standards. Gaduri history is important after all.
Alongside this, festivals. They are absolutely vital to the cultural health of any nation irregardless of the reason. Whether it be commemorating or celebrating, they are just as important and the Quesada Administration has recognized that and made moves to provide financial support. Supporting these institutions will ensure that Gaduri culture can experience a revival of sorts. While a Renaissance is far from happening, a basic revival can occur and make Gaduri proud of their cultural heritage. Museums so far have been the biggest focus being on ensuring smooth administration. It's one thing to throw money at an institution and support it's modernizations but it gets nowhere if there aren't any administrative chains for it. As such, efforts are being made to streamline administration for all cultural institutions but largely museums to make them attractive to the public as well.
These efforts will take time to foster a cultural renaissance but it is certainly possible irregardless of how long it will take. As the Quesada Administration focuses on cultural institutions and making Gaduridos truly unique, it remains to be seen how the effects will largely play out, especially with elections next year.

One Month Later releases in cinemas; Despite pessimism, the film does exceptional.
A little while ago, it was confirmed that Republican Pictures would be working together with local Gaduri directors on a film. When that was confirmed, details were sparse and we only received more information when it was confirmed it would be a horrour movie. Theories went ablaze. Would it be a slasher film? Psychological horrour? Those theories went silent as the first trailer dropped, the so called "Be Thankful" trailer, which was largely ominous.
The major things noticed in the trailer were the biohazard symbol, and the quote attached, "be thankful for everything, for soon there will be nothing.". That put theories in a new direction and the film got a title: One Month Later. The main theories were it would be a post apocalypse movie, something involving bioweapons. Alternatively, something more rare these days but zombies. While no concrete date was given on the release of One Month Later, hype was growing. After all, it was a Gaduri made production with the help of Kalistan, and it was horrour no else. As more details gradually came out, hype in Gaduridos only increased and when the release date was given out, interest only continued to grow.
Shockingly enough, it would seem that behind the scenes weren't too optimistic on it and expected it to not do well. It didn't have big name actors, and zombie movies were rare these days. Evidently the internal predictions of a flop were entirely wrong as the movie preformed exceptionally. So much so, that it's worth giving a brief synopsis of the movie.
Set in Marlingantos, particularly Ciudad de Gadur, we follow Joel Morillo who awakens from a work related accident in an empty hospital. Joel moves to leave the hospital due to general confusion from how empty the hospital is. This results in him wondering the empty streets of Ciudad de Gadur, with no signs of human life and an eerie silence. After reaching the centre of the city, Joel discovers a newspaper implying that some major crisis has occured. Undeterred, Joel continues wandering and eventually finds himself entering a school which has been hastily converted into a mass grave, littered with corpses. Fortunately Joel finds a handful of people alive, but not acting right, including an EMT spasming, unintelligently if not animalistic. Joel flees the school upon realizing that something has gone horrible wrong and is chased down by more of these animalistic people. Being chased into the street, he is rescued by two survivors in makeshift gear and take Joel into one of their hideouts in an abandoned thrift store. The two survivors proceed to inform Joel that he has been comatose throughout the crisis that plagued Marlingantos and that what chased him weren't people, but victims of some virus, the Locura, turning people into animalistic killers in mere seconds. Spreading rapidly and uncontrollably, Marlingantos was lost within a week, destroying any chance at organized society on the island leaving almost all of the island dead or turned. From here, Joel is set on a journey to simply survive and escape Marlingantos.
Overall, the synopsis doesn't do it justice but time is money. The movie in general strives to capture a realistic grim outlook on an apocalypse and it arguably succeeds. Despite a downer ending with Joel getting shot by Federal Guard remnants, audiences enjoyed the movie and critics found the movie enjoyable. With the possibility for Gaduri Horrour Movies to experience a revival, One Month Later has set the stones for creating something unique to Gaduridos. With not much competition as zombie and general horrour movies are rare nowadays, there is a genuine chance we can see more creations as the producers, writers and actors receive fame for One Month Later. With a dark grim movie doing well, the potential for the horrour film industry is there as there is a very clear demand for it and audiences want to be scared. However, there is a possibility for a sequel as many fans want a sequel to explore how the outbreak started, or see it expanded to Vintalli or even the mainland.

Trade with Beluzia; Opening the door for economic ties with Beluzia
Trade remains a vital cornerstone of the Gaduri economy, and as such, the need to ever expand it is also vital. With Beluzia making steps back onto the world stage, there has been significant interest in opening up economic ties with the rising state, and it seems a deal has been struck over the weekend. As it stands, Beluzia is not within the Vamaj Network and is unable to receive Gaduri Oil. However, Beluzia can receive steel and iron, and that was largely the deal signed. Beluzia will purchase steel and iron, albeit at a discount and in exchange, tariffs will be lowered and Gaduri businesses will receive incentives in Beluzia.
Due to Gaduridos following the policy of "Fair Trade" however, mutual tariffs have been lowered between Gaduridos and Beluzia with the goal being to help Beluzia get on its feet. With a successful deal, Gaduridos benefits via money and Beluzia benefits via iron and steel to assist their economy. And with more money in the Treasury, Gaduridos can continue improving itself.
As Gaduri Trade Volume increases, more trade opportunities are likely to arise. Irregardless of that, it is hoped that more future deals can be arranged with Beluzia as the potential for Beluzia is there. Whether or not it does thrive, trade being expanded is always a win for all parties involved.

Ties with Likatonia formally cut indefinitely; Opposition questions whether this move respects neutrality.
It would seem history has a funny habit of repeating itself. Likatonia has once again managed to upset the regions stability and trade with the parish state that is fascist Kundrati. After it was announced that embargoes would be placed on any nation that traded with Kundrati, many expected that to be the end of it, no more Seleyan squabbles. Evidently those expectations were too optimistic as Likatonia has a habit for fighting oppression on themselves, but willfully turning a blind eye to foreign oppression.
As such, Los Altos has announced that all formal ties with Likatonia will be indefinitely severed. While there were hopes of restoring relations and fixing things up, it seems those hopes were dashed quickly. As such, Gaduridos has strongly condemned Likatonia for the move and it's likely that hostility will remain for the foreseeable future.
However, Congress has been ablaze with the question of if this move respects Gaduri Neutrality. With the PSSG and the general Gaduri left arguing that such a move violates Gaduri Neutrality and is directly placing Gaduridos into an openly antagonistic spot, Congress member Víctor Martí (PSSG) had the following to say.
Quote:Now what I think is, this violates our Neutrality, I mean how can we say we're a neutral country but then immediately come out guns blazing and hostile to another country? The Quesada Administration is putting our Neutrality at risk with these efforts. I'd even say it violates the Neutrality Act.Those on the more far right however have taken the opportunity to try to spread xenophobic messages and Anti-Likatonian sentiment, even if there are no Likatonian communities in Gaduridos or major business connections. However, Congress has been strongly divided as the Quesada Administration has taken a very strong approach to Likatonia. However like Congress, public opinion is more splintered as well with the Quesada Administration taking a hit on public support and perception.
As Gaduridos commits to indefinitely cutting all ties, it remains to be seen what else will happen as an embargo is already in place as per compliance with Ananto. Public opinion is split and Congress is split on whether such a strong move violates the Neutrality Act. Whatever the case, the debate is sure to last into a few more months as politics and people take sides. As Likatonian diplomats remain permanently expelled, it's likely that either stronger efforts will occur or a gentle hand will occur depending on how Congress responds to the move by the Prime Minister.

A Rising Star in the PSSG; A Potential Candidate For 94?
As the 5594 elections loom, many have been speculating on who is likely to be nominated by the PSSG. Many have expected another Realist candidate to be nominated after the prior 12 years of Montenegro, but after facing electoral defeat twice to the hands of Reform, others speculated that maybe the PSSG should adopt a more conservative message, akin to the Radicals moving in a slight conservative direction. Yet a rising star in the PSSG has revived the possibility of a Garcian Socialist candidate after the controversy that was Yepes. Allison Garcia.
The most noticable thing is her surname, Garcia. Being a grandchild of Rosalana Garcia, it was surprising to many when Allison joined the PSSG in the late 80s. While the family largely disappeared from politics after Rosalana, many expected Allison to simply be just another politician, another member of Congress. Yet these 3 years have seen her rise in the ranks of the PSSG and bring Garcian Socialism back into the conversation. As she continues to rise in the party, many have speculated that she may make a bid for the 94 nomination. Being a strong advocate of progressivism and socialism, she has managed to live up to her grandmother's ideals, but so far, she has not signaled any desire to try to win Prime Ministership.
The mere fact that she has been considered however should show that she is a rising star within the PSSG, and while critics may say she belongs in the far-left Worker's Party, she has gained a considerable following but should she make a bid, she'll likely face opposition from moderate Realists and those who think she'll cost a winnable election for being too left wing. In any case, she's the second Garcia to make a name for themselves in the PSSG, and perhaps should she live up to her grandmother's legacy, she can rebuild and remodel the PSSG. Of course not entirely depends on if she makes a bid to be nominated for PM.

PSSG sweep elections with firm majority; Allison Garcia elected PM as a Socialist enters Los Altos with an ambitious End Poverty in Gaduridos agenda.
The recent 5594 elections have concluded with a surprising left ward turn as the PSSG has prevailed with an openly socialist candidate. With Reform failing to captivate voters and the Radicals splitting the centre-right vote, the PSSG has managed to secure a strong majority in the Royal Congress, with Allison Garcia at the head of it. Being an open socialist however, many expected her to stumble due to comparisons to Syndicalism in the North. Evidently, those efforts failed as many Gaduri voted for Garcia en masse.
Yet the most appealing thing that attracted many Gaduri to her campaign was her ambitious proposals, the End Poverty in Gaduridos (EPIG) Program, strengthing Gaduri democracy, creating a welfare state, reaffirming Gaduri Neutrality, beginning infrastructure projects, reforming National Service, and bringing about an Equal Rights Act.
For EPIG, the program is focused on drastically increasing social benefits and reforming Gaduri welfare. The creation of a thorough safety net will ideally help in ending poverty and ensure social mobility in Gaduridos.
For strengthing Gaduri democracy, there have been proposals on making voting easier, keeping corporate lobbying and religious influence out of the government, and reinforcing democratic norms.
For the creation of a welfare state, this goes hand in hand with EPIG and will see the state take on a more stronger role in ensuring every Gaduri can live a good quality life, free of poverty.
The biggest aspect however has been the Equal Rights Act. While Gaduridos is free from repressive laws such as segregation or what not, Vintalli-Gaduri and other minorities are often the victim of discrimination compared to the rest of Gaduri society and it seems Garcia is looking to rectify that. Garcia has a vision for every Gaduri, minority or not, being afford the same rights. Queer, Disabled, Vintalli-Gaduri, immigrant, Garcia has campaigned on a strong equality for all message.
With a strong majority in Congress, it is likely that this campaign will live up to its promises. With a socialist entering Los Altos once again, it seems the spirit of Rosalana Garcia is carrying the PSSG through these 4 years. We're likely to see a strong effort to better Gaduri society, welfare, infrastructure, media apparatus, foreign policy and more.

Worker Rights expanded

As expected of a socialist PM, worker rights are always expected to be at the forefront and it seems the Garcia Administration is looking to expand worker benefits and rights. The biggest aspects have largely been focused on making the financial situation of Gaduri workers better. As such, Gaduri workers are now entitled to parental leave. Previously limited to mothers and kept short, the Garcia Administration has looked to expand it to all parents in general and to ensure the healthy development of newborns as parents are given paid leave. Alongside this, workers will be given paid holiday leave for all Federal holidays, and be guaranteed sick pay in the event of sickness or injury. This will help ensure that there is a strong focus on a proper work life balance and ensure workers of all sectors are given the proper respect they deserve.

Welfare Reforms; The War on Poverty

Welfare has always remained a dear topic to the PSSG, and especially to Garcian Socialists. However most agree that Gaduridos is not a welfare state by any means. It may have a well funded welfare system, but most describe it as a bandaid solution rather then something substantial. As such, the Garcia Administration has had a lot of eyes looking at it for the much anticipated welfare reforms as the formation of a welfare state was something campaigned on by Garcia. These reforms have finally come as the EPIG agenda was able to pass Congress. As such, various reforms have come to the Gaduri welfare system.
For starters, there will be direct federal support for low-income housing. This means that Gaduri that fall below the poverty line will receive federal assistance in housing, and after a set amount of time, or should circumstances be deemed as worsening, then federal housing will be directly offered to provide a roof for low-income Gaduri.
Alongside this, another major win for low-income Gaduri as a food stamp program has been allowed to occur, allowing for low-income Gaduri to afford food and avoid starvation whilst their peers enjoy a feast. Further more, benefits will be expanded for retirement and disabled Gaduri to ensure a decent life. For the disabled, the ASS will provide financial support, and depending on if an independent caretaker is needed to assist guardians or in the event of there simply being no caretaker, then a caretaker will be assigned to help in ensuring a decent life. The goal is to ensure that those who are unable to care for themselves due to disability (whether it be mental, physical or any other disability inducing aspect) and ensure that they can life a live without worry about financial woes or what not.
Furthermore, unemployment benefits. The ASS will now have the ability to provide stronger checks to those in unemployment. While National Service provides an opportunity for employment, there is still the question of unemployment afterwards and this aims to fix that and ensure that Gaduri can still have a warm roof over their head and food on the table as they search for employment.

Equal Rights Act passed and signed; Vintalli celebrates.

The highlight of the Garcia campaign was the Equal Rights Act, which would grant full civil, legal and political rights to every Gaduri citizen in Gaduridos, irregardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, race, identity or disability. The biggest supporters of the Equal Rights Act have been Vintalli-Gaduri and queer communities as again, while on paper both have equal rights, there is still strong discrimination that occurs to not just these two groups but to various other communities across the country. And today, it has been formally signed into law by Prime Minister Garcia.
As such, every Gaduri citizen will be granted the same civil rights, liberties, legal and political rights as any Gaduri would prior. Discrimination of any sort, irregardless of what minority it is against is a crime. In this day and age however, equal rights don't just stop at gender or race, but they expand. One constant victim of oppression in this day and age is none other than the queer community who found themselves side by side with the Vintalli-Gaduri in pushing for the ER Act. As such, besides clamping down on racism, xenophobia and sexism, homophobia and transphobia will be clamped down in equal measures to truly ensure that the Equal Rights Act goes beyond just words on paper. As many celebrate the ER Acts passage, minority groups especially are jubilant in this victory for equality.

A Walkable Future; The move towards cities of tomorrow as infrastructure reforms begin.

One of the many campaign promises pledged by Garcia was better infrastructure, and something that captivated many were walkable cities. As it stands, Gaduri cities are lacking in walkability. While normally this isn't a major deal, especially as far as Seleya is concerned, it is something that many voters felt interested in supporting, as walkable cities are quite valuable, providing support for local businesses, increasing health, it's good for the environment, reduces traffic and promotes better mental health via social interaction. As such, there has been strong public support for reforming Gaduri cities and moving towards "cities of tomorrow" that are walkable, clean and mentally healthy.
As such, infrastructure efforts will be directed towards actually making cities walkable and redesigning existing infrastructure and architecture. Surprisingly however, there has been alot of inspiration from the juggernauts of walkable cities, or at least one of them: Hobrazia. While obviously the architecture isn't being inspired from, Hobrazia was well known for its clean walkable cities and it seems many city designers have looked to Hobrazian cities for inspiration in creating modern walkable cities that are also aesthetically pleasing.
These efforts will take time and will be the primary focus on terms of infrastructure reform but once they are successfully implemented, urban Gaduri will be able to enjoy walkable cities and while yes, a clean environment is always good, what's more important is the improving of mental health and supporting local businesses (which then supports local economies!) that is anticipated to come from walkable cities. The creation of a Gaduridos of the future will take time, but it will occur with this small step. As an added bonus, this will go hand in hand with the ER Act and ensure more cultural inclusion, and also go with the EPIG agenda and allow more financial independence for Gaduri.
In any case, this effort is likely to receive widespread support and once completed, will allow a focus on other infrastructure initiatives across Gaduridos. Marlingantos however is likely to reap the most benefits due to its urbanized nature but in the end, all of Gaduridos will benefit from this move.

Reforming National Service; Creating a viable system for everyone, not just the few.
Yet another campaign promise by Garcia was the reformation of the National Service Program, and how it works. As it stands, National Service is simply mandatory for every Gaduri upon the completion of high school, in which they can either join the Civilian National Service or join the Defense National Service for a select amount of time. While the system does work, there are rooms for improvements. As such, the Garcia Administration has looked to begin reforms to National Service, and make it a more equitable system for every Gaduri.
As such, upon the completion of high school, instead of mandating every Gaduri pick either form of National Service, there will be a 6 month period of grace. Ideally, this will ensure Gaduri seeking higher education can enter without any distractions. Afterwards, the choice will be presented once again. The goal will be to ensure that higher education is possible without distractions and ensure that every Gaduri aspiring for higher education can do so.
While Defense Service is often viewed as more lucrative due to the better benefits, it is still risky, even as a neutral country and this leads to the lesser Civilian Service. As such, efforts will be made to equalize them both. Better benefits will be provided, such as federal support for higher education. The goal is to ideally ensure that Civilian Service is viewed as a viable alternative to Defense Service.
While Defense and Civilian Service are still adjusting to the realities of a rather pacifist neutral nation, they are slowly finding their roles in fighting unemployment and creating prosperity at home. And by giving Civilian Service a boost, it will help ensure that both programs are equally viable for every Gaduri (those who are applicable to either program that is, exempting obviously the disabled, whether it be mental, emotional or physical) and pave the road for employment to be viable at all times.

Política Occidental to occur with Likatonia; A new leaf?

The PSSG has always been rather dovish, and when the Quesada Administration cut all ties with Likatonia over Kundrati, it was up in the air over whether the PSSG would continue the cold shoulder to Likatonia or try to offer an olive branch.
Evidently, it seems that the Garcia Administration has looked to begin "Política Occidental" (Western Politics) with Likatonia and repair relations. As such, the Garcia Administration has sent an offer to Clovisport, and an offer to the current Likatonian administration, both for a state visit to Ciudad de Gadur (however the Garcia Administration has signaled that it is willing to head to Clovisport should that be deemed acceptable), and restore basic diplomatic relations such as mutual embassies and restoring basic trade channels.
While the question of Kundrati is still up in the air and how exactly it reflects on Likatonia, even with the current administration, it is clear that the Garcia Administration is looking to bring about a more dovish approach to foreign policy and ease tensions, both for humanitarian ideals and to remind the world of neutrality.

The Right to Water; A drastic measure or a long needed reform?

The Garcia Administration has looked to show it's socialist roots once again with Congress passing the Right to Water Act, which would forbid any private housing entity, and forbid the shutting of water. As such, this effectively means that any low-income Gaduri worrying about water being shut off due to financial woes will no longer have to worry as private entities will be forbidden from shutting down water. While this has been applauded by the left and supported massively by low income Gaduri, more liberal sects of society have questioned if such a move is necessary and whether it is an infringement of rights and especially of the free market and private institutions.
Whatever the case, this will undoubtedly be welcomed by low income Gaduri as water will be guaranteed to them, ensuring that even in the toughest times, they can still have access to the necessity of life.

Information Neutrality Act passed; New Media regulations enacted

Misinformation and political bias is always an unfortunate thing. While you can educate people to spot misinformation, political bias is more difficult to determine and not everyone has the time to spot misinformation. Yet you simply can't ban all media and have the state manage it, that's simply autocratic. So it seems Congress has come to an agreement on enacting new media regulations, ensuring that in terms of politics, all media must be politically neutral.
Whether it be removing existing biases or giving equal time to all political parties instead of a specific few, the INA will effectively de- politicize mainstream news media and ensure political neutral, unbiased and arguably factual news. This will prevent political misinformation, and end any media monopoly a party has. Whether state or private, any news outlet looking to cover politics will need to adhere to the INA.
