RE: Gaduridos - Elena1012 - 11-01-2025 Trending News in Gaduridos; New Viceroy, Justice Reform and keeping money out of politics. ----------------------- New Viceroy ----------------------- Magdalena Sarmiento has served as Viceroy of Gaduridos for a handful of years, serving since the 70s. However, there have been questions regarding her advanced age and a potential successor. With the re-election of Garcia for a second term, Congress has quickly looked to go over a list of potential successors as Sarmiento has made it clear that she will retire soon. As such, Congress has settled on a rather unique candidate. Dana Ananto. A prominent member of the Ananto family, the nomination of Dana Ananto as Viceroy has shown that Gaduridos is certainly ready for stronger and closer ties with Kalistan within Ananto. With her nomination, it is likely she will accept and become Viceroy of the Kingdom of Gaduridos. From there, even closer ties can be established. With Sarmiento looking to retire at the end of Spring, Dana Ananto, should she accept the nomination will become Viceroy by the beginning of Summer. ----------------------- Justice Reform ----------------------- In an effort to create a more fair Gaduridos, the Garcia Administration has looked to reform the justice system in a multitude of ways. As such, the biggest has been reforming the Supreme Court. Well known for its defense of Gaduri Democracy during the Troubles, the Gaduri Supreme Court, like any other institution will always enter a period of needing reform. As such, the biggest reform is term limits on judges. This will help ensure that politically motivated nominations are cut short and the Supreme Court can focus on protecting Gaduri democracy, and not enacting partisan agenda's. Alongside this, jury accessibility will be granted to every national in Gaduridos. At their request, every Gaduri citizen, irregardless of income will have the state cover any and all fees for a legal defendant in any crimes conducted. This will help ensure that the wealth gap is curbed in justice. ----------------------- Curbing corporate influence in Gaduri Politics ----------------------- The biggest threat to modern democracy (besides fascism), is unregulated corporate interests. Bribes, lobbying, you can name it. Unsurprisingly for a socialist administration, this is a major threat to democracy, and the Garcia Administration is looking to cut down any avenue for money to have a role in Gaduri politics. As such, corporate lobbying is the biggest focus, and the only solution that the Garcia Administration has come to is a complete ban on corporate lobbying in all of politics. Alongside this, all political donation records will be made public to ensure no loopholes are found. These efforts will help ensure corruption is kept down, bribed are kept down and corporate influence in the Gaduri government is kept strictly out. While opponents decry it as draconian means, supporters have argued that the book needs to be slammed to ensure that the law is followed. -------------------------- The Corporación de Radiodifusión Pública (Public Broadcasting Corporation) is a publicly owned corporation dedicated to providing independent, factual news to Gaduri. RE: Gaduridos - Elena1012 - 12-01-2025 Creating the support for a Welfare State; Reformation of Tax System. Gaduridos remains one of the few Seleyan states to adopt a Progressive Taxation system, but this does not mean that all is well with the taxation system. And as the Garcia Administration has a goal of creating a welfare state, opponents to it have constantly asked how it will be paid for, and the answer is, it seems is with the wealthy. While Gaduridos does make a solid amount of money from exports, there are more expensive reforms planned, and the Garcia Administration is determined to create a fair equal Gaduridos. While progressive taxation will certainly be kept, new reforms will come about. First and foremost to provide more support for low-income Gaduri, and that has come with the abolition of Sales Tax on a Federal Level. This will ensure that the last remnants of the regressive tax system are put to rest for good, and cement a progressive tax system in every outlook beyond simple income taxation. Alongside this, the wealthy will be made to pay their fair share. While again, they already do via income taxation, more can always be done and as such, there shall be a tax on frequent flyers, something that only the wealthy can do. This will not only encourage more sustainability, but also ensure that the average family can go on vacation. Alongside this, a mansion tax. This will help ensure that the wealthy who can afford high value properties can pay back to society and discourage the purchasing of second homes. These efforts will ultimately help in creating a fair Social Democratic Gaduridos and ensure that Gaduridos isn't just for the few, but for all. Perhaps the success of a progressive tax system in Gaduridos can encourage other Seleyan states to adopt it, or at the very least spread to the rest of Ananto. In any case, these reforms, as boring as they are, will be vital to the betterment of Gaduridos and long term development. -------------------------- The Corporación de Radiodifusión Pública (Public Broadcasting Corporation) is a publicly owned corporation dedicated to providing independent, factual news to Gaduri. RE: Gaduridos - Elena1012 - 12-01-2025 Shock and Horrour as Gaduridos reacts to nuclear weapons usage in the East; Garcia Administration joins Yeudi Diaspora in Gaduridos in condemnation. Warfare should always have rules. The biggest rule, usually is the forbidden usage of nuclear weapons. While the war in the East, the so called "Red Bass War" has been fairly conventional, it hasn't been of much concern for Gaduridos. The war was far away and it was kept in the ocean, far away from Seleya. It was figured a peace deal would be signed relatively soon and business would return to normal. Oh how wrong everyone was. On the 10th of October, Beiteynu would break all the sacred rules of war and use a nuclear weapon on its opponent, Xsampa. Say what you will of communism, the usage of a nuclear weapon sets a dangerous and horrific precedent. The single most powerful weapon that has the capacity to end human civilization, was used in a conventional war. Suffice to say, Los Altos has joined many, including the Yeudi Diaspora in Gaduridos in condemning Beitenyu for the dangerous and horrific precedent set. The Garcia Administration has joined in condemning Beitenyu. Quote:Los Altos would like to say that the usage of a nuclear weapon in any war is nothing short of a calamity. The mere fact that the Red Bass War was allowed to escalate to such a length is a failure on all sides to put aside ideological ideals. We join the Yeudi Diaspora and the world in condemning Beitenyu for an aggressive, dangerous irresponsible move. The question of sanctions for such an irresponsible move is being debated within Congress, but suffice to say, Gaduridos is incredibly disappointed and worried with what Beitenyu has done. With rumours of PM Garcia sending Yishelem a strongly worded letter personally written by herself, Gaduridos is drawing the lines in the sand and standing by the ideals of humanitarianism and pacifism. Whether sanctions actually do occur or even an embargo is yet to be determined but Congress is debating intensely the merits of such a move. In any case, there is a strong feeling of unease and worry. -------------------------- The Corporación de Radiodifusión Pública (Public Broadcasting Corporation) is a publicly owned corporation dedicated to providing independent, factual news to Gaduri. RE: Gaduridos - Elena1012 - 14-01-2025 Building an education system of tomorrow; Radical education reform comes to Gaduridos. ![]() The education system of Gaduridos has been fairly decent. However it is hardly anything compared to the giants. By Seleyan standards, sure. The Gaduri Education System is top tier. By global standards? The Gaduri Education System is questionable at worst and adequate at best. Given that this is about the betterment of future generations, it's suffice to say that there have been strong calls to reform it. And the Garcia Administration has heard these calls to bring reform. Radical reforms. First off, behind the scenes. The education budget has received a major boost. This will allow it to adequately pay professors, teachers, employees, upgrade and modernize equipment and buildings, and modernize the curriculum for a modern nation. This will help ensure basic additions as well, such as ensuring quality food for lunches and breakfasts in primary education and allow higher education to provide food free of charge to students. Furthermore, it will allow transportation for primary education to be maintained adequately. Furthermore, teacher unions have received the full support of the Garcia Administration, due to their vital nature to society. Secondary, pre-schooling will now be entirely free to ensure that no parent has to worry about choosing work or taking care of their children. Not only that but this will provide basic care and education for children in their most formative years. Third, community college will also be entirely paid for by the state. This will help in encouraging that every Gaduri can at least have the option to approach community college without tuition worries. This move will help ensure that the upcoming generation can have the means to be ready for an advanced economy and an advanced world. And it can also encourage those who rejected community college to give it a second look now that it is free. Alongside, existing student debt will also receive Federal support in being paid off. Fourth, Federal Aid will be available for students looking to go into higher education such as universities. The goal will be to help cut down tuition fees and ensure students can adequately enroll in higher education without needing to sell their kidneys or drown in debt. As expensive as these reforms are, it will pave the way for a not only a stronger social net, but also help make higher education more common and prepare the next generation, and future generations for an advanced economy. As the goal of this administration has been the creation of a welfare state, it will require a population that can keep up with higher taxations rates (even if it is progressive), and as such, support for higher education will be vital in making sure that the next generation is qualified to maintain advanced jobs that are higher paying. -------------------------- The Corporación de Radiodifusión Pública (Public Broadcasting Corporation) is a publicly owned corporation dedicated to providing independent, factual news to Gaduri. RE: Gaduridos - Elena1012 - 15-01-2025 Trending Gaduri News; Plebiscites supported at a Duchy level, worker councils supported, and the establishment of the SIC ----------------------- Plebiscites supported at a Duchy level; Democratic expansion across Gaduridos. ----------------------- One of the many ways to expand democracy is to support Plebiscites, allowing Gaduri to vote directly on issues. While the question of endorsing nation-wide Plebiscites was raised, and faced opposition, a compromise was reached on allowing Plebiscites at a Duchy level, ensuring that the direct needs of Gaduri are heard, addressed and enacted should there be popular support. This will help ensure that should any non-democratic party secure control of a Duchy, a Plebiscite can be held to overturn autocratic or unpopular laws. ----------------------- Worker councils to be supported; Creating a more democratic economy. ----------------------- As expected of a socialist government, worker councils have received major support over these past years but it seems now, they have received a major upgrade in service. The "Worker Representation Act" which passed Congress, aims to give the worker councils stronger support and "democratize the economy". As such, every major state and private corporation will be required to ensure workers representation on boards. Alongside this, worker councils will be allowed to freely operate and form in the market. While not mandatory by any means, corporations that tolerate worker councils will receive tax reductions. The goal is to ultimately create a democratic economy, where the worker earns the fruit of their labour, and is adequately compensated for it whilst also respecting the capitalistic mode of operations. While opponents argue that this is a police better suited for the Worker's Party, the creation of a democratic economy has received considerable public support. The mixed economy that Gaduridos has operated on for a considerable amount of time has only just now begun a shift towards a more democratic worker oriented direction, but still looking to support capitalism. ----------------------- Creation of the SIC; The first defense against extremism and anti-democratic movements ----------------------- Today, the Servicio de Inteligencia Civil (Civil Intelligence Service) was created, acting as an intelligence agency for Gaduridos. The goal of the SIC is rather clear. As foreign despots and tyrants look to destabilize democracy in Seleya, and subsequently Gaduridos, a shield is needed. Neutrality can only protect Gaduri democracy from obvious attempts at subversion but subtle ones? This is where the SIC comes in, allowing for the protection of Gaduri democracy and countering anti-democratic and even extremist movements that arise at home. -------------------------- The Corporación de Radiodifusión Pública (Public Broadcasting Corporation) is a publicly owned corporation dedicated to providing independent, factual news to Gaduri. RE: Gaduridos - Elena1012 - 16-01-2025 Beginning of the Federal Highway in Marlingantos; Infrastructure reforms continue on. The Federal Highway Program has been a large success for the mainland. However, it has only been limited to the mainland. Marlingantos and Vintalli have been excluded so far and it seems that is set to change. Marlingantos will be the next expansion of the Federal Highway Program. As such, efforts have begun on the construction of a highway that will encompass the island. The ultimate goal is to ensure an easier time for goods and people to get across Marlingantos without waiting hours on end. It's a costly project but it should pay dividends. Despite the costs, the Marlingantos Federal Highway will ultimately encourage and incentive more development across Marlingantos and allow for goods to travel across the island and get to where they need to be. With Vintalli remaining excluded at the moment, it is likely that it will receive infrastructure support in the near future upon the completion of the MFH. With Marlingantos receiving infrastructure reforms and being a major economic hub in Gaduridos, the MFH will be incredibly helpful in boosting not just the economy of the Duchy of Marlingantos, but the Federal economy too. -------------------------- The Corporación de Radiodifusión Pública (Public Broadcasting Corporation) is a publicly owned corporation dedicated to providing independent, factual news to Gaduri. RE: Gaduridos - Elena1012 - 19-01-2025 The political giants of Gaduridos; Looking into the political parties of Gaduridos. Compared to the rest of the Anantonese Empire, Gaduridos is unique for its dynamic political landscape. While Lodamun is stable and moderate with its DPL, and Kalistan rejects parliamentary politics entirely, embracing a more absolutist outlook on things, Gaduridos is the most politicized of the 3, featuring a relatively strong democratic landscape with a variety of parties. Yet to foreigners and to other members of Ananto, you can't exactly blame them for not knowing much of anything about Gaduri politics and the giants within them. As such, why not go into depth into the relevant political parties within Gaduridos. ------------------- Pan-Seleyan Social Democratic Party of Gaduridos ------------------- What better way to start off than with the (currently) oldest political party, and the current ruling party, the Pan-Seleyan Social Democratic Party of Gaduridos. Often called the PSSG, Social Democrats or Pan-Seleyans, the PSSG fills up the centre-left of the political spectrum, offering progressivism, social democracy and moderate ethical socialism. Popular amongst the youth voter bloc, unions, and moderate leftists, the PSSG has managed to define Gaduridos since the 50s. Because of how often the PSSG has been in government, it's safe to say that the PSSG is the "default" party of Gaduridos in recent memory. Tracing it's roots to the "National Progressive Party" of old, progressivism (both economic and social) remains a cornerstone policy of the PSSG. Alongside this, ethical socialism became a major line in the PSSG after the election of Rosalana Garcia in the 5490s, rejecting more Orthodox Socialism in favour of a more collaborative reformist method of socialism. ------------------- Workers Party of Gaduridos ------------------- Inhabiting the most left wing ideals within Gaduridos, the workers party has found itself being supported by those who feel the PSSG doesn't go left enough, or those still alienated from the Yepes Administration. Often called the PTG, the Worker's Party has a rather negative reputation within Gaduridos due to both the extremist nature of it, and geopolitical circumstances (such as their opposition to the AE, and the currently socialist regimes in Baltusia and Tukarali). Finding support from more left wing unions, open socialists and portions of the working class, the PTGs major ideology would appear to be Neo-Communism, a more democratic version of standard communism. So far, the PTG has only entered government a handful of times but nothing majorly. ------------------- Party for the Democratic Revolution ------------------- The PRD is a rather unique party. Having last been in Congress since the 70s, the PRD is an idiosyncratic party that is more focused on competing in elections locally instead of federally. Often elected as a protest vote, it's hard to define what exactly the PRD stands for, and it's easier to define the PRD for what it doesn't stand for. Being largely anti-establishment, the PRD whenever elected have promoted centrist and calm politics locally, and developmentalism. With the PRD largely not contesting Federal Elections and sticking to local elections, it's likely that the PRD will remain a minor party for the foreseeable future. ------------------- Hosian Democratic Party ------------------- The most centrist party in Congress, the HDP, or the Hosian Democratic Party inhabits the centre of Gaduri politics. Often being vital to forming governments, the HDP finds it's primary voter base from Hosians unsurprisingly. Due to the HDP being vital to forming most governments, it is rather flexible, having cooperated with the PSSG, Radicals and Reform in the past. Subscribing to Hosian Democracy, the HDP offers moderate politics, acceptable to both the left and the right. While the HDP isn't likely to win an election on their own, the HDP can arguably be called a winner of all elections due to how vital they are to forming governments. ------------------- Radical Party of Gaduridos ------------------- Being an unofficial successor to the Liberal Democratic Union of old, the Radical Party defines itself with Liberalism and Federalism. Being one of the first parties to form in the Gaduri Spring in the 70s, the Radicals have cemented themselves as apart of the Triarchy of Gaduri Politics, representing the liberal right within Gaduridos. Finding their support base largely from the middle class and business owners, the Radicals found themselves responsible for keeping federal ideals alive in Gaduridos and usually expand upon the power of Duchies when in government. Radicals have also kept the ideas of Economic Liberalism alive, looking to be an alternative for many voters who want to support a more open variant of capitalism. ------------------- Reform Party of Gaduridos ------------------- The Reform Party of Gaduridos, the final party within the Triarchy represents the Conservative Right in Gaduridos. Offering fiscal conservatism, cultural conservatism and social conservative values, the Reform Party has only entered government a handful of times due to the current Overton window. Lacking a spiritual predecessor, Reform has charted new territory for Gaduri Conservatism and remains a moderate alternative for the rest of the Gaduri right. ------------------- National Party of Gaduridos ------------------- The most controversial party in Gaduridos, the National Party is often compared to the National Front of old, responsible for the Troubles. As such, National often has a hard time entering Congress, and usually in single digit numbers when they do manage to enter Congress. Offering Gaduri nationalism, social conservatism and right wing populism, they are, at least on paper a constitutional party, adhering to the democratic process. In reality, due to their status as an unofficial successor, they are often shunned by the mainstream political parties and their support base is often small as most nationalist voters go to the moderate parties. Yet they also splint their already small voter base with another party. ------------------- Free Soil Party ------------------- The most furthest right party in Gaduridos, Free Soil emerged as a splinter from the National Party and is nothing short of controversial. Extremists in every regard, it's a miracle they've even entered Congress (even with a single seat), and the policies they advocate, bordering in fascism consist of ultra nationalism, xenophobia and borderline social reactionary ideals. Certainly a party that takes inspiration from the New Social Movement of old, Free Soil remains a lingering cloud over Gaduridos on what could be if the Centre ever fails. ------------------- United Vintalli ------------------- A new party on the scene, United Vintalli defines itself as a party strictly for Vintalli and as such, only runs candidates in Vintalli. Advocating for stronger autonomy of Vintalli or even independence, and social democratic ideals, United Vintalli is the first regionalism party to enter Congress and finds immense support from more nationalistic Vintallians. While certainly not xenophobic or extreme, and supporting the Centre, United Vintalli presents a challenge for any party looking to gain a foothold in Vintalli. ------------------- These are just the most known parties in Gaduridos and it is hoped that this piece will help foreigners understand Gaduri politics a bit more. Whether it be the PSSG or the Radicals, every party in Gaduridos is worth noting down as compared to the rest of the AE, Gaduridos is the most politicized. For the time being, these parties are the status quo. Whether that changes or not is up to the future, but each party has found some place in Gaduri politics. -------------------------- The Corporación de Radiodifusión Pública (Public Broadcasting Corporation) is a publicly owned corporation dedicated to providing independent, factual news to Gaduri. RE: Gaduridos - Elena1012 - 20-01-2025 End Poverty in Gaduridos; Expanding welfare as support is provided for single parents. ---------------------- July 16th, 5603 ---------------------- For 9 years, the EPIG Program has been ongoing in Gaduridos and it's safe to say that it has produced results. However, just because a goal is met, does it mean it is not worth going above and beyond? As long as poverty exists, there is always more work to do. Or so the Garcia Administration thinks. As such, what's the point of focus for this round of welfare reforms? Single parents. All too often, we hear the case of single parents being forced to work to provide for their children or even several jobs in foreign countries. While Gaduridos can consider itself lucky for not seeing cases of single parents having to work several jobs to make ends meet, the idea that a single parent, already at a disadvantage, needing to struggle to provide basic goods for their child is something that is abhorrent. As such, efforts are being made to provide support specifically for single parents. Whether it be a parent abandoned by a spouse, death or any other reason, the Federal Government will provide support. Food stamps, federal aid for housing, you name it. No parent must suffer in trying to provide for their children. Every Gaduri citizen, as far as the Garcia Administration is concerned, will provide a life of plenty, health and happiness. So far, the EPIG Program has largely seen one of its goals accomplished. The establishment of a welfare state. Arguably Gaduridos can no longer be considered a Progressive State, and instead be properly called a Welfare State. However, there is always more work to be done, and as many Gaduri change their views on the government, going from a simple guardian of liberties and the pact of governance, the idea of the government acting as a home for every Gaduri has been gaining widespread attention. What exactly does that mean? Well, it's as it sounds where the country is akin to a home for every Gaduri. Where they are provided the best possible life. No good parent would willingly discriminate upon their children, or allow their child to falter when a good future is always available. No household would allow that. And so, in this case, Gaduridos is a household that will not allow it's citizens to falter and will present the best possible life it can for every Gaduri. -------------------------- The Corporación de Radiodifusión Pública (Public Broadcasting Corporation) is a publicly owned corporation dedicated to providing independent, factual news to Gaduri. RE: Gaduridos - journey - 21-06-2025 ![]() ![]() PDH announces its exit from the coalition over the failed negotiations on the pension reform Sunday, 13 July 5651 ![]() Hosian Democratic Party, or the PDH, has announced on Friday that it is going to withdraw from the governing centre-right coalition, composed of Radicals, Reform and PDH itself, effective immediately, following the series of failed negotiations over the proposed by the government pension reform to increase retirement age from 65 to 69. PDH president, Erubiel Velarde, said the final breakdown between his party and the coalition came after the Prime Minister Alfonso Castañeda (PRG) simply "ignored" Velarde's calls and "avoided" meeting him. "We can no longer in good consciousness be a part of the government that does not want to hear our concerns, and, it seems like, does not consider PDH an equal coalition partner", said Velarde. After the PDH's withdrawal from the coalition, Radical-Reform government now sits at 111 seats, becoming a minority coalition government. At the same time, during the coalition withdrawal announcement, Velarde announced that his party does not intend to submit, nor support any vote of no confidence motions to the Congress, if there will be any. According to Velarde, PDH does not turns into the opposition to the government, but simply moves to the 'backbenches' of the chamber, thus still providing support. However, PDH will vote with the opposition to vote down the pension reform, if government proposes it in its current form. Chairwoman of the Radical Party Ana Teresa Valdés reacted on the PDH announcement in her social media before going to the press for a briefing on Saturday, writing that "PDH did nothing, but whine and whine during their time in government", adding that PDH leaving the coalition is a "good riddance", though during the briefing day later she apologised for her remarks, saying that it was posted "with passionate feelings for the state of the nation". With a year and a half left before the next general elections happen, internal coalition bickering, unpopular reforms and increasing corruption scandals of the now-minority government, PSSG has seen a rapid growth in polling, with some polls projecting that the social democrats could win a majority on their own for the first time in decades, while Reform could see one of the worst results ever at the expense of Radicals, and suprisingly to some, Free Soil Party growing. It is hard to see PSSG not winning the election, especially as party's leader, Ximona García member of the poweful social democrat García dynasty, has been constantly polling at around 50% in the leadership approval ratings, but the question being posed is: will they win enough to rule on their own, or will they have to negotiate in the end? Only voters can decide that ![]() El Diario Gaduridano is a weekly national newspaper based in Gadur, Marligantos. (@ElDiarioGaduridano) RE: Gaduridos - journey - 24-06-2025 ![]() ![]() Congress nominates Javier Treviño as the new Viceroy of Gaduridos for the Empress to name 10 May 5652 ![]() After more than 25 years of public service as the nation's Viceroy, Sir Alejandro Lopez de Leon has previously announced that he will be retiring from his position, and asked Congress to choose a successor for him. According to the Gaduri traditions, it is in Congress' powers to nominate the person, who then will be named by the Empress as the de facto head of state of Gaduridos, and who will reign here and act on behalf of the monarchy. With that out of the way, it was up to the legislature to find a non-partisan uniting figure to nominate. It took no less than half a year, especially with the junior partner, Hosian Democratic Party, leaving the centre-right coalition, to find a person who will satisfy everyone. Unusually partisan process followed by the chaos inside the government postponed the retirement of the outgoing Viceroy by a couple of months, while the Congress was looking for the right person. And in the end, it seems that they have done so. After more than 300 interviews with various candidates, amongst them respectable academics, scientists, civil servants, retired politicians and others, the Office of the Prime Minister Alfonso Castañeda has announced that it will be nominating the rector of the University of Ciudad de Gadur (UCG) Javier Treviño before the national legislature and recommend for Empress to name him as the new viceregal of Gaduridos. A couple days later, in the National Congress, all parliamentary groups with the exception of the Workers' and the Free Soil parties have voted for the candidature of the Treviño, afterwards holding a two-minutes standing ovation for the Viceroy-designate. Now, in accordance with the traditions and rules, Treviño will travel to the Kaliburg and have a private meeting with the Empress personally, following which she will name him as her representative in Gaduridos. ![]() El Mensajero de la Mañana (Morning Courier) is the nationwide daily morning newspaper, located in Gadur.
