With a record-breaking 81.91% voter turnout, only surpassed by the 5626 Valruzian constituent elections, Valruzia’s fifth democratic elections since the fall of the Morawski regime have solidified Sovereign Valruzia as the nation’s dominant political force and Chancellor Szymon Nowik as the undisputed political leader of the nation, after securing 242 seats and 39.43% of the vote, once again increasing its sharing, this time by almost 3%. But focus were not only in whether Nowik would be able to increase its already big parliamentary group, but also if its coalition partner, the Communist Party of Valruzia, would follow the same paths as its predecessors when they ruled with Sovereign Valruzia. In this case, the KPW made its own history by becoming the first minor coalition parter not only not to lose seats, but to increase both its vote share and its seats (from 19.59% and 119 seats to 133 seats and 21.92%), thanks to its campaign focusing on labor reforms and industrial protection, as well as appealing to the citizens by pointing out how they are the only ones able "to force Nowik's hand".

Many eyes were focused on how will the Forward Valruzia coalition, composed by National Renewal, National Salvation and Agrarian Voice, would perform, following the much-talked Razem presidential scandal of their 5641 Presidential candidate that ended with the elected President being removed from office. Previously, the three parties achieved a 25.5% in the 5640 elections, and any result below 30% would be considered a failure according to political experts, especially taking into account that Nowik had already been in government for three consecutive legislatures. And yet, with 99.99% of the votes counted, the coalition landed in a mere 27.2% and 168 seats, enough to make them the second largest force in parliament but far from what polls had earlier suggested when the coalition was formed, with some of them placing them neck to neck with Sovereign Valruzia at around 35%. And this small increase of less than 2% despite Valruzian Alliance, the far-right Valruzian party, collapsing to 5.3% of the vote and 31 seats after coming from a 10% result in the previous election, losing half their support. The socialdemocrats of Dignity and Progress once again lost seats, falling from 6.2% to 4.8% and 27 seats, which experts attribute to a vote concentration in both the KPW and SW.

Whilst the coalition managed to recover the control of both Chynberg and Gryfit after winning in both regions, the difference in Gryfit was a mere 4% from Sovereign Valruzia, something some political analysts describe as a "catastrophic result" for a coalition of three parties in one of the two Valruzian conservative regions.

But there is another important event following this result: Sovereign Valruzia, the Communist Party of Valruzia and Dignity and Progress now hold 2/3 of the seats in the Sejm after winning 402 seats out of 601, one above the Constitutional majority. This means that now an agreement between the three parties is enough to modify the Valruzian Constitution or, as an example, they wouldn't have needed to help of other parties to remove a sitting President from office.

Government conversations are expected to be initiated once acting President Tatjana Borkowska tasks the main candidate - Szymon Nowik - with the duty of searching for a working majority. Internal sources from Sovereign Valruzia point to a new coalition agreement with the KPW, but this time appointing ministers from the communist party, as this was previously stated by the KPW's new leader Lucjan Mirski, to whom many attributes the good result of the KPW, which under this election has become its best result to date. Many point out to his charismatic figure, on pair with that of Nowik, for the resistance against the "purple tide" of Sovereign Valruzia.

After decades of being an external support for Chancellor Nowik - and arguably, his most reliable partner - today marked an important step in the relations between Sovereign Valruzia and the Communist Party of Valruzia after both Lucjan Mirski and Szymon Nowik ratified the government agreement that will make them coalition partners, thus having communist ministers in place for the first time since pre-Morawski regime times.

The ratification of the agreement, carried out in Nowik's own office staged symbolically in front of a photograph from the 5623 protests - a not-so-subtle nod to the anti-authoritarian roots both parties share - will make Szymon Nowik Chancellor for a fourth time at the age of 46, and Lucjan Mirski will become the first communist Deputy Chancellor of Valruzia. The rest of the cabinet composition has not yet been unveiled, but it is expected that the KPW will at least receive 7 ministries, with many speculating about the Housing, Labor and Health being the top contenders.

Both parties hold 365 seats in the 601-seat Sejm following the 5645 elections, more than enough to rule with a comfortable majority. With the KPW in government, SW’s centrist-populist agenda now may tilt towards more social welfare expansion, especially in areas such as public housing, workers' protections and universal healthcare upggrades in areas such as glasses or dentists.

The agreement between Sovereign Valruzia and the KPW has prompted angry responses from the right field, with the Forward Valruzia co-leaders calling it a "Frankenstein agreement" and a "betrayal to Nowik's own ideals". However, relations between Forward Valruzia and Sovereign Valruzia are completely broken since the impeachment of former President Szymona Razem, who now is awaiting her trial, and internal sources mention that Nowik "has no intention of listening to anything coming from the current Forward Valruzia leadership after their behaviour and handling of the Razem scandal".

has said Ksenia Brosz, leader of National Renewal and once Deputy Chancellor of Valruzia under Nowik. This criticism echoes the behind-doors worries about some moderate and conservative Sovereign Valruzia members, who worry that a close partnership with the "KPW radicalism" will alienate their more conservative supporters in the regions of Chynber and Gryfit.

However, the numbers speak otherwise: KPW has now become the only SW ally not to lose seats in the elections following an agreement with the populist party, after they supported externally the third Nowik cabinet the previous legislature.

Now, the composition of the new cabinet is expected to be announced within days - usually Szymon Nowik has announced his ministers the day after his swearing-in, with the main question being on who will take the powerful roles of minister of Food Sovereignty, Defence and Foreign Affairs. But for many political experts, this agreement also shows something else: Nowik's era of "reconstructing a post-Morawski era Valruzia" might be coming to an end, and Sovereign Valruzia is now taking a definitive political shape that will affect their future and especially their post-Nowik history, yet to be written. As has become a tradition for Chancellor Nowik, it is expected that his first international visit once the Sejm ratifies his election will be to Kalistan, followed by its neighbours Baltusia and Tukarali, in an aim to continue strengthening the ties in Northern Seleya.

At this very moment, Nowik is having a formal meeting with acting President Tatjana Borkowska - also from the KPW - who will then announce to the Sejm his candidacy and start the machinery for his voting election tomorrow.

Who is Robert Sobieraj, Nowik's everpresent second in command?

The government's spokesperson has been next to Nowik since his very first cabinet

With the announcement of the new ministers that will seat along with Szymon Nowik in his fourth cabinet, there are two names that are still strong: Robert Sobieraj and Judyta Supko, reappointed as ministers of Foreign Affairs and Economy and Finance, respectively. And these two ministers have something in common: they both have been serving along with Nowik since his very first cabinet in February 5630.

With the coalition with the KPW now in full speed, Nowik has said goodbye to others that had been with him since that very first moment, such as the ministers of Science, Education or Industry, plus those who left the Cabinet in order to make space for the new KPW ministers, who have been granted the positions of Labor, Housing, Agriculture, Territorial Administration, Environment, Migration and Transport along with the Deputy Chancellery. Thus, this has been the biggest cabinet reshuffle since Nowik first took his oath. Yet, both Sobieraj and Supko have resisted and remained in their seats.

Judyta Subko is well-known around the Valruzian general population since despite she prefers working behind close doors, she has been, along with Nowik himself, the creator of the two successfully implemented Valruzian economic plans: the Valruzia 5700 and the AgroSo initiative.

Robert Sobieraj, on the other hand, is know because of the different roles he has played in the Nowik administrations. First starting as Minister of Foreign Affairs - a role he has not abandoned since then - he has also been spokesperson of the government and Deputy Chancellor at different cabinets, and he is widely regarded as Nowik's "Praetorian Guard" and close aidee. But who is Robert Sobieraj, and why is he so close to Nowik?

Robert Sobieraj, 54, first started as only the SW minister of Foreign Affairs under the first Nowik cabinet, the coalition government between Sovereign Valruzia and Dignity and Progress. During that first tenure, he was in charge of rebuilding bridges with allied nations all around Terra just after the end of the Morawski regime, and the consolidation of the international image of Valruzia as a fully democratic state. Following his performance, Nowik trusted him to continue in his post for his second cabinet, this time in coalition with National Renewal, but this time he also made him the new spokesperson of the Government. This tenure was marked by the Velvet revolution in Tukarali that overthrew its dictatorial regime, and Sobieraj was, along with Chancellor Nowik and President Pietrzyk, one of the key Valruzian figures involved in the negotiations with the Tukarese regime over how they could hand over power.

Consolidating his position as Nowik's "de facto" second in command, he was made Deputy Chancellor following the government agreement with the KPW after the 5640 elections, which ended in a Sovereign Valruzia minority government supported externally by the KPW. And now, although he is no longer Deputy Chancellor as this position has gone to the KPW leader, he has remained as Minister of Foreign Affairs and has also returned to be the spokesperson of the government, showing just how much Chancellor Nowik trusts him.

Despite the age difference between both politicians, he has been a kind of "older brother" figure to Chancellor Nowik, and that includes having heated disagreements over international or domestic policy. However, the quiet temperament of Sobieraj fits perfectly against the more easy-going and calculated figure Szymon Nowik tends to show."

Although still 46, many people are increasingly worried about the perspective of Nowik leaving politics altogether with an heir in Sovereign Valruzia yet decided.

Quote:"When the time comes for Nowik to say goodbye, I think we will know pretty in advance. He is not the kind of person to decide such things in a whim, especially when it concerns the very main party he has basically turned into an election-winning power machine."

But could Sobieraj be this mysterious heir?

Quote:"I do not think Nowik sees Sobieraj as anything more than his closest ally in the government and the party. From what we know, Nowik does not even think yet about the possibility of retiring, but when he does, I firmly believe he will not endorse Sobieraj to succeed him. Frankly, while Sobieraj's performance in government is what has made him one of Nowik's closest politicians, his figure is completely the opposite of what Nowik represents. For Sovereign Valruzia to succeed, a charismatic figure is desperately needed, and Robert Sobieraj is simply not that man. Plus, he is eight years older than Nowik, and the Chancellor has already said that he would plan on continue in government "as long as the citizens want him to", so being older than him is another backlash for his future successor".

For the moment, Robert Sobieraj remains as one of the last remnants of Szymon Nowik's first steps into launching Valruzia atop of Seleya's powerhouses. Whether he will have a more decisive role in that future is yet to be decided.

Massive car crash in Nowogard; Chancellor Nowik's sister among deceased

A horrific high-speed collision tonight in Nowogard has left six dead and ten injured, including Magdalena Nowik (40), the younger sister of Chancellor Szymon Nowik. The crash, described by witnesses as "kamikaze driving" occurred when a speeding cargo truck veered into oncoming traffic, triggering a multi-vehicle pileup on the R1 circunvalation highway.

Although the main cause remains under investigation, early reports suggest the truck driver, who also died, may have suffered from previous mental medical conditions and was declared "unfit" to drive vehicles, but he chose to hide this information to his employer. According to some of his colleagues, Marcusz Bosniaj, 37, went to work "as usual" and was supposed to deliver the truck in Szary Kamien, Kampania's capital. city, before going on holidays for two weeks. However, the route he chose was nor the fastest nor the shortest, and he had already 10 years of experience in the company.

Among the victims, there are also two children (ages 8 and 11) and three adults from the same family, who were killed instantly. Ten survivors remain hospitalized, with three of them in critical condition.

Nowik's sister Magdalena, who died immediately, was a pediatric surgeon and mother of two, and she was returning from a medical conference when her car was struck head-on. The Chancellor's Office issued to statements immediately after the news of the car crash broke to the general public, with the first one sending the government condolences to the families of those affected by the tragedy and the second one confirming that Nowik will now become the legal guardian of his sister’s children, Iwan (14) and Klaudia (12), who were not in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Magdalena, a widow since 5637, had named Nowik as the children’s custodian in her will, with close friends say the siblings shared a "very deep connection" and Magdalena being seen many times around the Chancellor's official residence with the two children.

Now, Nowik’s schedule will have to be adjusted to accommodate his new reality and new role as a parent. Some close solleagues say he is "devastated but resolved" about the tragedy, and that he has already discussed with his husband Mateusz this new reality that has suddenly struck them.

In a move described as having the aim of "strengthening regional ties", Valruzia has proposed the creation of the North-Seleyan Games, a multi-sport event that would bring together nations from northern Seleya under a spirit of sane competition. The announcement was made by Valruzan Minister of Eduation, Culture and Sport Krystian Rutka during a session in the Sejm, where he highlighted the cultural, economic, and diplomatic benefits of the initiative.

Quote:"for so long, many of our nations have been ruled by autocratic and oppresive regimes, isolated from the rest of our neighbours and showing that all of them are our enemies, not our friends. We believe there can be a middle ground, and we aim to promote collaboration among us with this initiative. Because regional ties are not build under economic or diplomatic treaties, but also through this kind of proposals."

According to Minister Rutka, the proposal would include traditional disciplines such as athletics, swimming, martial arts or football, as well as indigenous sports from each nation, aiming to celebrate North Seleyan diversity.

While the project would be in its initial steps, the Nowik government is already getting in touch with the North Seleyan nations - namely Likatonia, Lodamun, Kalistan, Baltusia, Gaduridos, Tukarali and Aldegar - to see how much support the initiative can draw, and afterwards move towards host cities, sports included and participating nations to be confirmed.

The Nowik government has pointed out that one of the main lines of Nowik's program was the development of the model of "mens sana in corpore sano", after he made huge reforms to the education and the sport systems in the nation to children and youngsters, and developed investment programs to boost the sports-like spirit within Valruzian citizens. According to the latest reports, more than 83% of the citizens say they either "go to the gym at least four times a week" or "practice a sport twice a week".

When asked about why only including Northern Seleyan nations, Minister Rutka has said that he believes those are the nations that share "closer ties and bounds", and those whose citizens "tend to indentify with more".

In a press conference held in Hel, Chynberg's largest city, this Monday, the central government led by Chancellor Szymon Nowik has unveiled an ambitious railway modernization plan with the promise of "transforming the country’s railway infrastructure". Described as a "logistical revolution" by minister of Transport Aleks Opolka, from the Communist Party of Valruzia, the initiative seeks to overhaul a network the administration has labeled as "outdated, fragmented, and poorly connected", out of date for the modern Valruzian necessities.

Minister Opolka presented the key elements of the reform, alongside a detailed map highlighting the current lines (blue), cargo-only lines (maroon), and two tiers of new projects: priority routes (green) and secondary proposals (pink).

Opolka declared.

The project aims to improve travel times between key regions, facilitate transfers between lines, and strengthen rail transport as a strategic option for both passengers and freight. One major innovation is the proposed conversion of some cargo-only lines to mixed use, potentially easing pressure on the existing network. “We want a railway system that doesn’t just function, but that is also able to compete with road transport” the minister added. Among the priority new routes, the government has included the as of today non-existent railway connections between Szary Kamien and Sztolniaty in Kampania, Szary Kamien and Trebegowice, Jeziorne Sady and Bewierzow in Chynberg, Nowogard and Hel - Valruzia's first and third largest cities that until now, had no direct railway connection - or Garncagrad and Pastarnia, among others.

Behind the modernization project lies a clear intent to balance regional development, with the new priority lines connecting highly populated areas with more undeveloped central and southwestern areas, and secondary proposals aiming to reinforce regional corridors. Experts consulted by this newspaper agree that, if properly implemented, the reform could have a lasting impact on Valruzia's territorial cohesion and economic growth, especially beneficial for the purposes of the Valruzia 5700 economic plan and the AgroSo initiative.

Nowik has asked the population for patience, though. The plan will be implemented in phases over the next 10 years, with a mix of public investment and international financing. The government has yet to disclose the full cost, though preliminary estimates suggest it could exceed 150 billion Valruzian Pesos.

Quote:"People need to bear in mind that this is a huge development project. We are building almost the same number of railways that already exist, and all of that under a single project. At the same time, we aim at modernizing and upgrading the existing railway network, and all together, it's certainly a huge project that is going to last for years before it is properly finished. We know that there will also be some disturbances for Valruzian travellers and passengers, but we ask them for patience and to appreciate what we are trying to build here".

Nowik's new proposal has been well-received among the general population, especially those with current bad connections and mayors of cities that lacked proper connection among each other. Marshall of Chynberg - Valruzia's least developed and mostly rural region - Gustaw Czerwonka (from National Renewal, now Forward Valruzia), has welcomed the initiative, but warned to be "skeptical about its full implementation".

The Forward Valruzia alliance, which currently leads the opposition to the national government, has warned that "without transparent and realistic management, the plan risks becoming yet another unfulfilled promise", while accusing the government of "trying to cover years of inaction with last-minute announcements".

The KPW, on the other side, has praised the announcement - lead by one of their own - and Deputy Chancellor - and KPW leader - Lucjan Mirski has claimed that this is "why the Communists had to enter the government".

Despite the criticism, the public has largely welcomed the announcement, especially in rural areas historically left out of major infrastructure investments. Nowik aims at implementing the latest technology for these trains, and has invited investors from around Seleya and Dovani such as Kalistan, Istalia or Bianjie to take a look at the project, which will benefit also from the large industrial innovations developed under his Valruzia 5700 economic and industrial plan.

Possible remains of an ancient and gigantic temple found in Gryfitów

Research led by Nowogard University locates with new technology the remains of a large ancient structure in the waters surrounding the capital of the Voviodeship of Gryfitów, formerly above sea level

The mysterious Temple of Arwyj, known as Mamors to the Selucians, was the most iconic and frequented sanctuary of Valruzia in antiquity, during what experts believe was a deeply frequented Selucian colony outpost in Northern Seleya. Selucian generals sailed there to pray to the god before launching a military campaign in the continent, and it is written that a number of statues of famous soldiers and heroes were present in its corridors. Its fame stems from classical texts describing these dramatic episodes and its grandeur, but not from surviving the passage of time. At a certain date, it is believed that the sea reclaimed it and engulfed it with its arms, leaving now its exact location for debate for decades, if not centuries.

Now, new research may have solved one of Valruzia’s great archaeological mysteries. A newly developed remote sensing radar study conducted by Aleksy Pogoda (a PhD candidate) and his professor Paweł Woźnicki, from the University of Nowogard’s Department of Valruzian Prehistory and Archaeology have managed to discover and document mysterious and uncatalogued ancient structures in an area between the Gryfitów peninsula and the part of the city located in the continental landmass. And according to their findings, these remains could well belong to the Temple of Mamors-Arwyj.

The study began with Pogoda's interest in reconstructing the ancient landscape of this area, long known for discoveries like Selucian and Deltarian votive offerings, marble sculptures and commerce outposts, as well as occasional battles between both competing colonizers. The new collected data from the research was combined with digital terrain models from Valruzia's National Geographic Institute and existing archaeological records (primarily submerged artifacts from Selucia, Deltaria and Aldegar found in the Gryfitów channel). Today, Gryfitów is Valruzia's fourth largest city with over 3 million citizens, and it is considered an important port for goods and ships travelling from south to north and from items coming from the Majatran and Artanian continents to cross through the North Seleyan territory.

Experts agree that during Valruzia's pre-colonial history the region was dominated by the Zuman tribes (OOC: Turko-Mongols) and occasionally ruled by the different Aldegarian empires, before the national territory entered in its colonial era when Selucia and Deltaria established the first and competing colonial outposts, eventually to be overrun by Endralon during the early modern era. After this, Endralon established the nation as a settler colony, with mostly Zergonese people (OOC: Slovaks) settling in, eventually in time becoming what is no known as the Valruzian people

Subsequent non-invasive surveys, conducted in collaboration with Gryfit’s Underwater Archaeology Centre, came to reveal even more: potential ports, large buildings, and a possible enclosed dock, all of it now underwater, suggesting a Selucian-era settlement as large as those located in its own nation. And this newly identified structure, submerged 3–5 meters deep, measures 350 meters long and 200 meters wide, which would become the largest religious temple located in Valruzia and one of the largest in Seleya's ancient history.

The discovery, presented at a press conference with academic and political authorities, aligns with descriptions by ancient writers like Lysimachus and Sulpicio, who used to talk about a temple "embodied in the finest of marbles, located in the far-east, reminiscent of home". However, some researchers prefer to call for caution before jumping to final conclusions: "We are scientists. Time and further research will confirm if this is truly the temple" said Pogoda and Woźnicki, noting that years of interdisciplinary work are still needed, especially with the located structure being underwater, for which subaquatic surveys and paleoenvironmental analysis will still be needed.

However, this discovery is indeed a cornerstone in understanding Valruzia's ancient history, and if confirmed, it could become Valruzia's discovery of the century. The government of Szymon Nowik has already sent an invitation to the Selucian government and authorities in case they want to get involved with the research around the temple.
