Vascania switches tact under new PM

New Vascanian Prime Minister Kush Rajawant has continued to confound expectations with his new "charm offensive", aiming to repair the Empire's damaged relations with nearby powers. Taking office amid a national recession and low international standing, Rajawant's agenda involves significant changes to the internal economy and some sections of the constitution - as well as a total overall of foreign affairs.
Overtures have reportedly been made to Xsampan leader "Comrade" Aurousseau, who has thus far continued her country's coldness to the Empire. That may soon change, however, as access to the Vascanian sea is an increasingly valuable tool to the economic arsenals of the region's key players - access that is, arguably, ultimately controlled from Kamalata. If a deal could be made, that would potentially usher in a new era of cooperation in the global south-east and provide crucial trade opportunities. Despite the reservations of some of Vascania's political establishment, it is understood that the new PM is willing to make compromises to achieve increased international recognition of his country's borders and standing.
Over recent decades, the once active Vascanian state has retreated into a relative isolationism and even autarky. Imports and exports have sharply decreased as the agricultural sector shrank and then grew again, with export crops like tea struggling while rice production surged in the 5560s. Quality of life in many of the central states declined rapidly, permitted the rise of Khond under the leadership of Kush Rajawant, who came to national prominence after suggesting that he was willing to "temporarily annex" neighbouring states, or parts of them, so they could enjoy the improving standards Khond was providing its citizens. His regionalist bona fides were tested by a poll from East Kayal University which showed that he had high national favourability. This poll was later proven correct as he won a slim majority two years ago under the umbrella of his populist offshoot of the long-standing Community Party (dubbed Community Party - Secular by some sources to distinguish it from its identically named rump).

Vikas Vaikar appointed prime minister by the emperor amidst a national shift to the right, Vikas promises to restore Vascania's image by "all means": time for greatness
The Vascanian empire saw a change in its leadership with the emperor appointed Vikas Vaikar as the new prime minister of Vascania, this comes after recent elections had the Lotus party emerge as the biggest political block in the legislature but this only led to parliament being hung and almost all government negotiations collapsing. Because of that, the emperor stepped in and appointed Vikas Vaikar, a renowned political science and constitutional law professor, as prime minister of the empire with the right wing parties in the legislature being forced to form a coalition government and approve all of Vikas' ministers. The new cabinet mainly composed of technocratic figures has already began writing laws and rolling out new initiatives with the Ministry of Defense being even designated as the "Exceptional" ministry for this cabinet meaning a higher focus will be placed on it over the other ministries. During his inauguration speech at parliament, Vikas promised to restore "Vascania's image and reputation on the main stage by all and any means necessary", the declaration was met coldly by both the opposition and the coalition parties who already fear a democratic backsliding and return of autocratic rule if they don't act obediently with Vikas' cabinet.

CPV, KA, and USP's political licenses suspended by the government on grounds of "falsified documents", Lotus party denounces "clear constitutional violations": strange those hippies
Kamalata, Vascania. It was a shock to everyone in the Empire when the news of the government suspending the political licenses finally came out, the measure was spearheaded by the ministry of home affairs led by Balmohan Batra, a renowned religious figure known for his hard right anti-socialist beliefs, which meant that the parties affected by his measure were the Communist Party of Vascania, the Communist Movement, and the United Socialist Party. In addition, the ministry of Justice justified the move by claiming that the affected parties were all involved in illegal schemes that supplied Rapa Pilese insurgents with weapons in their effort to fight back Vascania's presence and that they lied and falsified their documents in order to cash in more funds from the government. The suspension of political licenses doesn't ban parties or forces them to be dissolved but what it does do is strip away the voting rights of the suspended parties in parliament thus lowering the voting threshold dramatically as nearly 30% of parliament is effectively gone which in turn gives the majority to the Vascanian Democracy party and all right wing government aligned parties. Shortly after the suspension, the CPV, KA, USP, and Lotus party announced that they will take the matter to the supreme court directly to challenge the ministry's actions, and that once the actions are reversed by the supreme court, they will put forward a no confidence motion that's expected to pass since the combined seat share of the 4 parties compose 51% of parliament.

License suspension reversed by the Supreme Court, USP backed motion of no confidence passes through parliament as Vikas denounces a "Parliamentary dictatorship": face off of the decade
Kamalata, Vascania. In an unprecedented rulling, the Vascanian supreme court has sided with the suspended parties and officially reversed the suspension of the political licenses by the ministry of home affairs. The court argued that a suspension of the parties withwithout any proper investigation or agreement was unconstitutional and even a power reach from the office of the prime minister clearly violating the balance of power between the legislative and executive branches thus undermining the democratic values of the empire, the leaders of the USP, PCV, and KA were seen celebrating the decision before promptly announcing that they will put forward a motion of no confidence against the government. During the voting scession for the motion, the MPs of the suspended parties unanimously voted yes alongside the Lotus party, but to the suprise of everyone the Kamalata Liberal Party joined them and helped the motion pass the threshold with a string majority. However, Vikas refused to resign from his position with the emperor himself stating that any resignation letter from the prime minister will be automatically denied until parliament allows the current administration to keep their positions alongside maintaining the political stability of Vascania's institutions. Furthermore, the prime minister himself has been seen holding frequent meetings with both the minister of defense and the head of staff with some worrying that hikes to the defense budget are going to happen soon.
