CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - AdAstra36 - 21-03-2025 So I have recently been researching Utari Mosir with the aim of settling there in the very near future, but I have encountered a rather large hurdle, and that is the language. Currently, the main ethnicity and language in Utari Mosir is the Utari, OOC Ainu. However, the Ainu language is basically extinct, with 2 native speakers in 2008, and has basically no resources for translation. Because of this, Ainu has basically been replaced by Japanese and is not used in the RP. Because of this, I have been thinking about the possibility of replacing Ainu with another small but accessible language. From my brief conversation with AI, the best suggestion was the Uyghur language, but I don't know if it's used elsewhere, and I would love to hear suggestions from the community on whether it's a good idea to replace the language, and if so, with which one. RE: CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - Auditorii - 22-03-2025 I'd agree with this, perhaps keeping the Ainu as a localized people perhaps in the western portion of the country, keeping close ties to the Asian nations of Sekowo and Baeguk. Perhaps the inclusion of another group? Tatar perhaps, I'm not sure. I would be supportive of Uyhgur. RE: CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - AdAstra36 - 24-03-2025 Tatar doesn't sound too bad. Another idea I have is Wolof, african language related to these spoken in North Dovani RE: CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - jamescfm - 24-03-2025 I agree Ainu is not accessible enough and the description should be updated. I also agree it would be nice to retain a small Ainu minority too. When we were in the process of updating the descriptions for the forum-based countries, Pragma and I had originally proposed changing it to Uzbek and Uyghur, so it is interesting that the artificial intelligence agrees (at least to some extent). I would personally be against introducing Wolof because already exists in Statrica. I think it makes more sense there, in proximity to other Atlantic–Congo languages. RE: CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - Auditorii - 24-03-2025 I had introduced Uzbek there a while back due to the close proximity to Mina (Islamic influence) and could explain the cultural diffusion there. I’d be supportive of Uzbek in the East (due to proximity to Mina) and Uyghur in the Eaat due to the Asian connection. RE: CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - AdAstra36 - 25-03-2025 Here is my very unpolished proposal then: UTARISTAN Utaristan is country geographically based on Hokkaido and Far East, and ethnically based on Central Asia. Utaristan has two dominant ethncities, Yultuz (Uyghurs), who are found across the country, and Minakal (Uzbek), who are prominent in the east. In the west there are minorities of native Utari (Ainu) people, and Hulstrians (Austrians), remnants of various colonial ventures. ETHNIC GROUPS Yultuz (Uyghurs) - 46% Minakal (Uzbeks)- 28% Utari (Ainu) - 13% Hulstrians (Austrians) - 11% Other - 2% RELIGION Hosian - 44% Ahmadi - 37% No religion - 11% Ainu folk religion - 3% Other - 5% LANGUAGE Yultuz (Uyghur) is the main lanuguage, however many Minakal and Hulstrians speak their own langugages. Unfortunately the Utari (Ainu) language has went extinct due to centuries of colonization and assimilation. Discussion notes: Everything is of course up to debate, I just wanted to present some idea. I have no idea of religious composition, and kinda just guessed. The names for Uzbeks and Uyghurs are also up to debate, Yultuz means star-people, and I kinda picked it just because I like how it sounds. Minakal means Mina-born. I chose Utaristan because it isn't too different from the old name, and just means Land of Utari. RE: CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - beifengxiaoxiao - 26-03-2025 I think that this is looking pretty good so far; RP regarding this region has seen local Ahmadism being strong in Mina and the eastern parts of North Dovani whilst Hosianism has been an influence in central North Dovani and Ostland, so maybe Utaristan could have a similar Ahmadist/Hosian divide with elements of folk religion. Because Uzbeks and Uyghurs are both predominantly Islamic IRL, it could also make sense to have the nation simply be Ahmadist. Saying that the Utari language has gone extinct may be a bit harsh given that internal PT RP has continuously portrayed Utari Mosir as a native Utari-speaking place. Whilst Ainu may have largely disappeared from today's IRL world, PT already suspends disbelief so it would not be necessary to completely kill it off just to fit with our real world. I would suggest modifying the CP proposal to say that Utari is still alive, but that it is uncommon and rural. If you're really insistent on killing it off then hopefully it could at least be RP-ed in the span of several posts instead of abruptly going out like this. I understand the retention of Hulstrians due to the colonial past. However, if you want the ethnic makeup to reflect something similar to Central Asia may I suggest the possible addition of some ethnicities based on other Turkic ethnicities like Kyrgyz or Qaraqalpaqlar peoples? I think it might help the nation stand out and maintain a unique sense of identity. I agree with you suggestion for the Utari language, I think it would be best if it would be on same levl as other minority languages - used mainly in households. As for religion and potential minorites I think it depends if we want Utaristan to be "Uyghur-Uzbek Country", or "Central Asia Country". I myself would prefer the "Uyghur-Uzbek Country" approach, which would mean that the ethnic make up would be the same as I proposed, however we would have to decided if the country is mainly ahmadists, with only hustrians being hosian, or if the country is relatively evenly split religiously. RE: CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - AdAstra36 - 26-03-2025 After some thought, and inspiration here is my main proposal: UTARISTAN Utaristan is a country based geographically on Hokkaido and the Far East, and ethnically on Central Asia. Utaristan is dominated by three ethnic groups found throughout the country, the Yultuz (Uyghurs), found predominantly in the west, the Kiraguz (Kyrgyz) in central Utaristan, and the Minakal (Uzbeks) in the east. In the west, there are minorities of indigenous Utari (Ainu) and Hulstrians (Austrians), remnants of various colonial ventures. ETHNIC GROUPS Yultuz (Uyghurs) - 30% Minakal (Uzbeks) - 27% Kiraguz (Kyrgiz) - 24% Utari (Ainu) - 12% Hulstrians (Austrians) - 5% Other - 2% RELIGION Ahmadi (Muslim) - 63% Hosian (Christian) - 18% No religion - 11% Utari folk religion - 3% Other - 5% LANGUAGE Yultuz (Uyghur) is the main language, but Minakal (Uzbek) and Kiraguz (Kyrgyz) are locally prominent, and Utari (Ainu) and Hulstrian (Austrian) can be heard in homes. Discussion note: There is also possibility of names created by Farsun during earlier reform attempts, Akimiz (OOC: Uzbek), Selsayak (OOC: Kyrgyz) RE: CultPro reform for Utari Mosi - Replacing Ainu language? - Auditorii - 27-03-2025 I'm a fan of it, we can easily keep the history of Hulstrian's being involved in the sort've "military ruling class" with the Ainu still being present while introducing the other cultures. I'm a fan. |
