-- SUMMARY OF VANUKU (WRNUKE) --
Vanuku, mostly called Wrnuke in the Jelbic language, is a modern industrialised nation in North-Western Majatra, its population primarily consists of the Wrnukaékai (the Jelbic peoples of Wrnuke) who are split in three smaller tribes. The primary religions are Hosianism (Christianity) and Ahmadism (Islam) but there are also resurgent pagan faiths and an irreligious group. Vanuku is often considered the leading Jelbic nation as it has the largest population of the Jelbosphere, though Jelbe is considered the most traditional Jelbic nation. Vanuku has a population of around 125 million and often plays a big part in Majatran geopolitics. It has built a reputation of being a pro-monarchist nation that often props up dictatorial regimes across the world to thwart its competitors.
Jelbic culture is based on a conlanguage and has mostly drawn inspiration from cultural groups originating from steppes, like the Mongolians, the Scythians, Turkic peoples like the Pechenegs, Tartars, Kazakhs, etc. This Jelbic culture has been added on over the years by different roleplayers and is one steeped in (made-up) tradition, cultural quirks, and a reverence for horses. For Vanuku specifically a further influence can be drawn from the Netherlands, Central and East Asian monarchies, and Middle Eastern monarchies.
-- CULTURE OF VANUKU --
The Jelbic culture is unique to Particracy and has a long history built on by different players, a careful reading of the Wiki may be required to fully understand this fictional culture. In Vanuku the Wrnukaékai are divided into three 'tribes' or subcultures. The Banmék are the "Northern Wrnukaékai" and throughout history have often dominated Vanuku, they are from a primarily Hosian and irreligious background and have cultural ties with the Dorvish through colonisation and the Brmék due to their proximity. The Krlmék are the “South-Western Wrnukaékai” and have ethnic ties with the Augustans (Zards) and Majatrans. They are predominantly Ahmadist and Tanhrist and are considered the most traditional of the Wrnukaékai, being the closest to the Jelbék in culture and tradition. The last remaining tribes that live the traditional way are all Krlmék. The third group are the Trmék often called the “South-Eastern Wrnukaékai”. Ethnically they have mixed with the Jelbék and the many ethnic groups in Deltaria. They are predominantly Hosian and Tanhrist and culturally align more with the Banmék, as a modernised ‘city-dwelling’ Jelbic group.

-- HISTORY OF VANUKU --
In ancient times the land of what is now Vanuku was colonised by Qedarite and Selucian settlers from Cildania and Selucia. These established several city states and smaller colonies and are the first inhabitants of this wild land with a written history. Their polytheist temples eventually saw the rise of Zollism, Vanuku’s own variant of Tanhrism. By the time of the Jelbo-Tukaric Migrations the settlers were ousted and Jelbic tribes made Vanuku their new home, during this period there was no centralised structure.
This changed with the ascensions of Merlkai, a Banmék Bék (Chieftain) with grander ambitions. He was able to unify about two-thirds of Vanuku’s Jelbics into his own Khanate, becoming Merlkai H’án. This short-lived unified Banmék Khanate attacked the Augustan Empire, which at that time was fighting multiple wars, Merlkai H’án was able to make swift work of the Augustans and freed most of modern day Southern Vanuku. To establish peace, he and his horde all converted to Hosianism becoming a peaceful northern neighbour of the Augustan Empire. Upon Merlkai’s passing his Khanate became far smaller and in-fighting between the tribes continued.
Medieval times in Vanuku were strife with inter-tribe conflicts and Augustan kingdoms taking over pieces of Vanuku at certain periods. In the end Aldrkai H’án, a descendant of Merlkai, united several tribes of the Wrnukaékai and even invaded the island of Kathuristan, a part of modern day Barmenistan. His costly and war-torn reign in the 11th century earned him the epithet ‘the Bloody’. Later rulers would maintain this small Duchy of the Banmék until the arrival of the Ahmadi Caliphate in 1246. The second to last ruler of the united Banmék tribe, Shlajkai H’án, died in the Battle of Vrkzel against the invading Caliphate in a last-ditch effort to stop the invasion. His brother Kezkai later surrendered to Caliph Bunjamín.
The Caliphate in Vanuku saw the Krlmék ascend as the ruling classes, as these traditional Jelbics had mostly ignored the calls to convert to Hosianism and still adhered to the Zollist and Tanhrist faiths. With the arrival of the Caliphate they converted to Ahmadism, being given preferential treatment and prominent Krlmék nobles acting as governors for the Caliph. It was over 200 years later when a Banmék Bék staged an uprising, after a short war the Caliphate was kicked out of most of modern day Vanuku. For the next two centuries the Jelbic tribes in Vanuku fought each other and the odd Brmék and Augustan invader.
This all changed in 1629 when the King of Dorvik approved the founding of the Royal Dorvish Majatran Company. Dorvish ships arrived in modern day Vanuku the same year, from both sides. Instead of colonising and subjugating the local population the Dorvish, who were on a low budget, tried a different approach. Alliances were forged, small parcels of land were purchased, smaller tribes in Vanuku were pushed out. As such the Dorvish were able to form several smaller colonies that started to function as trade outposts with the local Wrnukaékai. The colony became known as Dorvish Majatra and the Isthmus Coast. The revived Khanate of the Banmék became close partners with the Dorvish settlers, causing a cultural melting pot. The Dorvish also recruited large numbers of destitute islanders from Narikaton to help populate their settlements in Majatra. The combination of the Dorvish, Narik settlers and the Wrnukaékai locals gave rise to the creole language of Vanukeaans.
In 1700 the Dorvish sold a substantial part of Dorvish Majatra to the Khanate of the Banmék, a treaty was signed which favoured the new Vanukeaans-speaking population. During this period the Banmék Khanate reformed to the Grand Chiefdom of the Banmék, or the Archduchy of Banstill. The Khanate has slowly been reforming since the Caliphate was pushed out, but by the decline of Dorvish colonialism only truly started to adopt Artanian customs. Eventually in 1814 the Wrnukaékai experienced a Golden Age, compared to the Renascentia in Selucia. With trade, commerce and development at an all time high. This era of prosperity lasted until 1939, when the economy declined and tensions between Vanuku’s democratic south and monarchist north reached an all-time high.
The eventual unification of modern day Vanuku was a costly and long journey. Between 1939 until 2139 several wars were fought between the states that dominated the territory of what is now Vanuku. A bloody conflict between 1952 and 1961 ended in a stalemate, a situation that escalated into the War of Unification of 2090. When peace was attained in 2139 the first modern borders of Vanuku were established. The first unified state was named the Vanuku Federation, a nation dominated by the Vanukeaans-speaking elite. This status quo changed in 3696 with the establishment of the Crowned Republic, where the acceptance of the Jelbic culture became more commonplace. This trend gradually continued, being greatly propelled by the conquest of Temrkai H’án who became a national hero for the ascending nation of Vanuku.
The Crowned Republic eventually became the Principality of Vanuku, which was later replaced with the Kingdom of Vanuku after an Augustan Emperor, with blessings of the Arch-Patriarch, gave a special approval for the Banmek-Sntazed dynasty to adopt the title of king. The Principality and Kingdom of Vanuku played great roles in geopolitical affairs, always swinging a careful balance between a democratic semi-constitutional monarchy and an absolute monarchy. On other occasions Vanuku has been the leading nation of the Empire of the Jelbic Peoples, this happened in 3777, for a short mostly unrecognised revival in 4777 and most successfully in 5553.
