Conflict in South Dovani

This is a tightly controlled RP arc. As such, we are generally just looking for players who are willing to fill pre-defined roles. 

Length
Long-term, non-committal, indefinite end

Context
South Dovani has been embroiled in a series of low-level insurgencies for over a century in its eastern provinces. 
For context, please consider reading or consulting this Wiki article: (“East South Dovani conflict”). 

We are looking for players to provide financial and material support for the belligerent groups in the conflict. These include:

1. The Republic of South Dovani

• South Dovani is a liberal democratic state with a market-based, export-led economy. Its government is seeking assistance in the form of military hardware, arms deals, joint training/exercises, investment and development aid. 
  

2. The Left-wing militias

• The Unified People’s Militia (UPM): a left-wing, Ruanist (Maoist), and secularist militant group; the strongest and most direct opponent of the government. Fiercely opposed to the traditional culture of South Dovani, and any effort to restore the monarchy. A significant source of funding for the UPM is trafficking gems (sapphires, rubies) and drugs (opium, amphetamines). They are allied to smugglers and organized crime groups, and an enemy of every other group. 
  
• The People’s Liberation Front (PLF): a libertarian-socialist political and militant group that controls a significant amount of territory in the mountains of eastern South Dovani. They are inspired by the RL Zapatistas. They are generally non-violent and do not fight with the government or other groups unless attacked. They are allied with the SLF.
  

3. The minority-autonomy militias

• The Sumanese Liberation Front (SLF): a Sumanese militant political organization seeking greater autonomy for the Suman Province. While hostile to the central government during the communist period, the SLF has had better relations with the current Republic of South Dovani. The SLF supports the restoration of the Prince of Suman. They are allied with the PLF, have neutral relations with the right-wing militias, and are the bitter enemies of the UPM. 
  

4. The Right-wing militias

• The Hanzai Rangers: an ultranationalist political and militant organization seeking to eliminate the left-wing militia groups, and to re-establish the Kingdom of Hanzen. The Hanzai Rangers often collaborate with the National Police Force and Armed Forces in their operations against the UPM. 
  
• The National Defence Corps (NDC): a nationalist political militant organization which supports the traditional culture of South Dovani/Hanzen, and seeks to protect rural communities from other militant groups and organized crime groups.
  

5. Gem smugglers, drug smugglers, and Triad organizations

• Transnational Triad groups headquartered in Dalibor, including the White Tigers Triad and the Tian Long Tong, are engaged in selling arms to the UPM, in exchange for opium and gems. They are also rumoured to have relationships with the Hanzai Rangers and the SLF. 
  
• A significant source of funding for the UPM, SLF, and PLF is gem smuggling, leveraging South Dovani’s natural reserves of precious gemstones. 
  

Seeking
As mentioned previously, we are seeking players who can see a role for their countries or controlled organization(s) to play in supporting one or more of the above groups. Some ideas:

1. A criminal organization from your country could be involved in drug/gem smuggling.
   
2. Your government can support one (or more) of the belligerents (i.e. supporting the left-wing militias), clandestinely or not. 
   
3. Your government/company can invest in South Dovani and/or sign deals with the government (arms deals, trade deals, etc.)
   
4. If nothing else, just stating what side your government takes politically, to add countries to the wiki
   
5. Writing about how the rise in gem/drugs/arms smuggling from the region may be impacting your country.

Conditions

2. No direct state involvement (in other words, you cannot begin bombing insurgents in South Dovani).
