5689: MATO
#1
9 August 5689 - Jorgen Island, Triad Republic of Narikaton, Darnussia and Himmelshtern

The usual suspects started walking in, lingering at the buffet. A buffet, which, for all intents and purposes, displayed a plethora of delicacies from around the world, all circling a few main lunch dishes of West Majatran origins. Tomato dominated in both fruit and vegetable plates.

One by one, they began entering conference room 3.

OOC: This part of the meeting is closed-off for between Mbites, Kubs, Facts and me and is backdated to help us get back into rhythm and iron out a few details. Once we're ready, we'll open it up to other players who've communicated their interests. That part will be fast-forwarded to the current time.

The imposing conservative big-wig and Nsania-hailing Heinrich Berger sometimes also referred to as "Bigman" enters the hall filled with delicacies, he's targetting the minced-meat filled bread in the form of a Narikan small arm and fills his large plate before settling down at the conference table decorated with numerous bottles of the finest liquors Terra has to offer. His aides and the rest of the Triad delegation from all coleurs of the political establishment of the recovering three republics are settling down beside him at the table. What could go on?

9 August 5689 - Jorgen Island, Triad Republic of Narikaton, Darnussia and Himmelshtern

As the Jelbic congregation entered they were led by three individuals from the three branches of power in Wrnuke's society: at the head was the Prefect Intrsmor Shlajkaisrmko Trmékez, a broad and tall man with grey hair and a beard to match. A wealthy tycoon from Jelbic industry that now sat firmly at the top of Wrnuke's society, his investments ran deep in the military industrial complex and he had never made any effort to hide that. On his right was the Archduke of Banstill, Aldrkai Banmek-Sntazed, the future King of Wrnuke. While the monarchy had no real power anymore they certainly had imaginary powers, it had become a tradition for Prefects to consult the King on important matters. Perhaps having His Majesty himself attend was considered too much for the Jelbics, and as such the lesser option was chosen. Slightly behind both men was at last the third figure, a figure unknown to most but feared in certain corners: the Director-General of the RSB Helná Pshamazrk. The first woman to sit at the top of Wrnuke's intelligence agency, she had used a ladder of skulls to reach that top.

The Prefect, after a round of pleasantries with the others, quickly went to the buffet. The Archduke lingered for a while and then sat down in a prominent spot at the table. The Director-General stood in a corner, having a hushed conversation with a Yeudi colleague.

The now hastily appointed Interim Foreign Secretary Hannah Metzayot came in with her aide, quickly nodding to all of the trilateral colleagues. She eyed the buffet, and only picked up a cup of coffee. At some point, her hushed discussion with Pshamazrk was interrupted by the persistent sound of approaching flip-flops echoing sycophantically across the halls.

A man entered the room; wrinkled blueish shirt, black short trousers, flip flops - a tourist in here? - smiled whimsically at most of them, sat and silently slapped a thin red dossier on the table.

Some recognised the logo.

Hushed tones and the sounds of tableware continued. The Yeudi representatives of the recently freed Homeland States of Amudim awaited to hear terms they knew they had already agreed to.

And the opportunity they had been waiting for, for a really long time.

Quote:We understand that one of the prerequisites of [fakes cough] -of this new regional platform we are here to discuss is the reinvigoration of the industrial complex. We also recognise that Yeudi-Narik-Darnussian investors are looking to dive heavily into manufacture in Himmelshtern, Sholemberg, Amshinov and Rishon Le Hofesh. We certainly have the infrastructure in place - all private equity.

What we seem to be lacking on our end is the green light on budgets and contracts. We hope to address this post-5699 after the appointment of a proper government.

Amudim will continue its policy of not maintaining an army nor an airforce. We believe in naval projections and missile defence as the future of our military doctrine.

Heinrich Berger, VVP big-wig, presumed successor to President Heinz Heiss, biceps & de-facto political power center

Quote:If I recall correctly, most of this industry and infrastructure you're referring to has been enabled due to Triad investment or - in considerable amounts - already is in our hands. We're ready to re-commit to this century old partnership, but we'd like to know, or rather we'd like some sort of assurances that we're not going to be stabbed in the back by our so-called "friends." The last decades have proven that there is a certain threshold of good-will and loyalty one can expect from the likes of you and the horsey-smelling ones. Let's start by you handing us Schuhbe- *a aide nudges Berger* the Kadiyot that has fooled the three republics, she's gonna get what she deserves in Bannerhafen.

Helná Pshamazrk, Director-General of the Ryk Sekrts Bro (RSB), had probably murdered more people in her twenties than Berger had seduced in his life with his big muscles. She quietly lingered near his seat while gauging the response of the others in her delegation. The Prefect held a reserved smile, but you could easily see the anger at Berger's statement behind his eyes. The Archduke Aldrkai, ever a trueborn Jelbic, did not hide his discontent behind false pleasantries. With a thud his fist landed on the table, and his mouth opened to scold the VVP chief.

Archduke Aldrkai Banmek-Sntazed
Quote:You speak of stabbing in the back?! Artanian hypocrites are always blind to their own greed! For a thousand years Northern Majatra stood stable as the Jelbosphere, your forefathers saw the rise of Jelbic Empires, the rise of friendship and loyalty between our nations - only to be betrayed as you returned Artanian colonialism to this tortured continent. You sold your own hides and honour by being in cahoots with Xsampans as you divided the last parts of what once was the proud nation of Beiteynu. No, herr Berger, what the Kingdom did to-- what--

As he spoke Director-General Pshamazrk had made her move, leaning over Berger's shoulder to press her finger deep into the buffet food piled high on Berger's plate. While pulling the finger out of the food she made eye contact with the bewildered Triad politician and then gave him her own piece of wisdom.

Director-General Helná Pshamazrk
Quote:You speak of thresholds, mister Berger. This is the Jelbic threshold when you camp in their backyard. Like violating their food in front of their eyes. Can you blame Wiel for the response? A piece of Beiteynu given to Xsampans with Triad consent, the last of the 'free' lands annexed by the Triad as well. And Wiel? Not even a courtesy call. That is when the Jelbic threshold was pushed beyond its limit, mister Berger. Goodwill and loyalty is a two way street.

She grabbed a napkin from the table to clean her fingers and then used it to gesture towards Amudim's delegation.

Quote:Our Yeudi allies understand the new order. The Xsampans have been driven from their land, the Triad mercenaries have returned to Himmelshtern. The King has promised the fabled return of the Eight Gems that Wrnuke holds to their ancestral land. This is a new dawn and a new future, the Yeudi partners in this room understand the need for loyalty. And the Jelbic side understands the need for cooperation. We are willing to forgive, are you?

Heinrich Berger, Triceps-President in preparation

his provoking smile escaped Bergers face quite quickly when the rather aggressive reactions of the Jelbic delegation took place. Especially the finger-food-situation baffled the conservative giant, he was looking at Pshamazrk when he said in response

Quote:Man! She can definitly violate me just like she did with the food. *Berger giggles and then instantly shifts to a serious tone* You made your point Director-General, take your seat, we would not be here if we were not willing to forgive and forget.

Before continuing the friendship-route of this conversation he turned his attention to the Archduke.

Quote:Blind to greed? I am not some sheep or actor like the people you deal with in the background. My associates and I are quite aware of the nature of the Triad, we're greed incarnate, a nation built upon the exploitation of chance, opportunity and geopolitical uncertainty, riches untold amassed by ruthless amorality only guided by the logic of profit. But painting the established culture of Bannerhafen as some sort of traditional Artanian colonialism is not quite correct. The one responsible for perverting our perfect tranquil system of sugar was the cursed Kadiyot hiding behind your backs, we'd quite like to punish her for the transgressions she has to answer for. While she and her ilk are the main culprits of this dilemma; I'm not irrational. Some of us have temporarily profited from her actions, but we nontheless seek to eradicate toxic elements like hers from the Triad society, I hope you can temper your rage for the remainder of these discussions because small provocations are sure to be heard once or twice while we need to re-acquaint our ancestrally cordial people.

He rapidly filled his mouth with a few forks of the various protein-rich buffet items in front of him, filled his glas with whiskey and gestured the service-personnel of the hotel to bring over the cart with all the paperwork. Piles and piles, uncountable amounts of pages, words, letters only to work through some misunderstanding or build anew.

Berger swallowed.

Quote:Now, with the displeasantries out of the way, lets start talking business. It seems to me that both our arms sectors are being problematic and you have some ideas.

Hannah merely inclined her head politely, maintaining a poker face throughout the entire heated Jelbic-Triad exchange. Her eyes flickered with ancient Yeudi greed at the sight of all the paperwork.

Quote:As you said, Mr. Berger. Let's get down to business.
