Metz-Leonid expedites schedule for the nuclear entombment of 17 installations in the Desert Bank; naval budget remains gridlocked; AE fined ₪1.2bn for involvement in nuclear weapons development
July 5684
Metz-Leonid, Xsampa - The Desert Bank is a harsh, arid place. A basin sitting inside what the Amudimim call the "Karkaari croissant" and the massive mountains towards the borders with Pontesi; it's hot, it's dry and, most of all, it's isolated.
For those who take highway 19 from Amshinov in the Northeast to Haifbourg in the South, it's a bit of an adventure.
Although the landscape can be breathtaking - provided you've got the AC blasting in the vehicle at all times - what lies underneath the cracked floors of the Desert Bank is absolutely nefarious in nature, the latest Xsampan investigation reveals.
We all knew it: every time the defunct Beiteynuese Government fired its ICBMs at a target across the globe, the sky lit up all around that particular region.
That fateful night in October 5599 was no different.

Why was Aristocrat Energetical (AE) fined
AE has monopolised nuclear energy in Amudim for centuries since 5286.
After all, it's the company that's mostly responsible for all 56 nuclear energy plants spread across the mountain lines of the Karkaari, through questionable contracts tracing their origin all the way back to the first Tzafrir Administrations and the Nucleobei Commission's 5228 nuclear energy modernisation program.
Now mostly controlled by the Aristocrat-Goldblooms from Dundorf, it almost managed to remain in the backdrop of Xsampa's raging and watchful eyes.
Until, that is, last Monday, when Metz-Leonid released its findings of Xsampan investigations into nuclear weapons installations in the Desert Bank.
Not 1, not 2; but 17 nuclear weapons installations tucked away under the arid and seemingly endless landscapes of the Desert Bank's isolation, with AE's fingerprints all over both research and development and launch siloes.
Curiously, Black Beisa, which most analysts expected to pop up, did not pop up.

One Xsampan official put it in the best way possible:
Quote:Eerie. Scary. Evil. Desert, desert, desert.
And then a dusty siloe. Underneath it, you can tell. It's empty now, but there was a heavy-load Yeudicho ICBM in it, intended to carry a nuclear warhead.
Quote:Imagine a summer joy image, under a bright sun, but with a thriller soundtrack.
Xsampan investigations, however, did not manage to uncover the "ground zero" silo - the one that launched the ICBM that reached Metz-Leonid almost 100 years ago, generating a sort of "ghostbuster" buzz around it on social media.
All 17 sites are scheduled for permanent entombment by the end of next month.
Metz-Leonid reports a 93.7% confidence it has found all sites (excl. the one).

"Self-determination is a key element for global cooperation and internationalism - in NEK, Sholemberg and everywhere else in the world"
September 5684
Kaliburg, Kalistan - In one of the many follow-ups to the bilateral state meeting earlier this year, the Foreign Secretary of the City State of Tel Bira took the podium in a press conference in Kaliburg to provide some commentary in regards to the Norterra Summit organised by Egelion; a summit that sees the involvement of Nadiya (former Trigunia), Kalistan itself and Egelion towards deciding the future of New Endralon and Kizenia, the Kerisian nation that recently experienced severe conflict.
Quote:Yes, one of the issues that came up on yesterday's agenda was the Norterra Summit. We discuss many things with Kaliburg under the renewed light of our City State's full member entry to the NAM. Egelion and NEK was one of them.
Tel Bira stands with Kalistan concerning their rejection of the preliminary peace treaty earlier this summer - we come from a place of understanding geopolitical security issues of this nature; with the southern coasts of NEK and Keris itself at play, that is.
"Geopolitical paranoia" is, more often than not, a term used by states knowingly exerting their terms onto the interests of other states.
[chuckles]
I mean, the Beiteynuese Government has been a prime example of that theory. We've seen Beifartsouf in practice for centuries.
We know, when we see one.
The Foreign Secretary, however, openly disagreed with Kaliburg's "heavy-weight direct style of opposition".
Quote:The Empire of Ananto and Kalistan's current position heavily assumes that Egelion is "up to no good" - presumably leveraging the recent situation in NEK and the summit itself to solidify its geopolitical status in the region.
Altea, however, has been very vocal on the principles of global cooperation and internationalism, thus we expect, at least in our parts of the world, that Egelion will pursue its own interests without overriding those of others; in this instance, Kalistan.
And the entirety of North Seleya, if I may be blunt, considering the spatial relevance of Lodamun, as well.
Quote:The Corte Concordia is also just around the corner. It'd just be crazy for Altea to pull an open 180 on its own principles that they so strongly advocate, especially considering that a lot of eyes are fixed on the matter with NEK.
And quite a few states are already interested in the treaty, ourselves included.
[chuckles]
Can you imagine?
You join a treaty like Concordia for making sure the NEKs of the world don't get land grabbed in the face of thwarting cooperative interests, only to find out the author of the treaty has done exactly that?
[chuckles again]
When asked about Tel Bira's relations with Altea and whether the financial issues with Egelian loans in Pontesi would be resolved anytime soon, he responded:
Quote:Yes, we re-affirmed the framework this spring, considering all that's happening in Amudim, at the moment.
No, I'm afraid the issues with Pontesi have not been resolved. We are aware that Altea has been quite vocal against any and all agreements within the Neset.
A journalist cut in the queue to ask the Foreign Secretary about the latest Istalian piece in the Equilibri Globali; to which he chuckled again, lightly shrugging his shoulders:
Quote:I don't disagree.

Navy backs down from Sholemberg after significant backlash from the Neset
April 5685
Tel Bira - Hadayim's emergency meeting with Imperial Vascanian Oil last summer was one of the numerous cases of the resulting damage from the navy's ongoing siege of the city's harbor since the beginning of last year.
As the ordeal persisted, AIG's recent expansion in Luthori and Vanuku only added more the pressure. With the shipping and oil and gas industries of the Neset continuously witnessing market downturns for almost 2 years now, the losses in marketshares reported across the board as recently as February, it was only a matter of time before consortiums such as the Bankaut doubled-down on the Triad Republic.
What seems to have tipped the scales were reports surfacing recently in Jelbic media on war crimes in Sholemberg. 3PF intelligence also seems to indicate that the navy's missile attacks in July of last year were mostly in vain, indicating foul play in command lines.

Triad pulls back from northwestern FOB as "Medebirian" rebel forces reach outskirts of Yishelem
הטריאדה נסוגה מצפון מערב FOB כאשר כוחות המורדים מגיעים לרחובות ישלם המורדים המורדים המורדים
Homeland Bureau / לשכת המולדת
Reporting from Yishelem, Triad Republic / דיווח מישלם, רפובליקת הטריאד
August 5687
The Triad Republic's initial pushback 3 years ago against the rebel forces capturing the City State of Sholemberg has been switching to a coordinated "backing down" over the last few months; not so much as an overwhelming of its forces, but more so of a diplomatic manoeuvring.
Especially after Sholemberg's opening of its ports by the new administration, 2 years ago.
With the controversies surrounding Xsampa's "Canton 14" moving into the background of regional and global affairs alike, Bannerhafen seems to be actively pursuing an angle for the aftermath of the ongoing reunification attempts of the Holy Land.
As Himmelshtern, Tel Bira and the Yeudi Diaspora at large watch on the sidelines, the rebel forces march on to reclaim the first ground beyond the Karkaari after years of dispersed civil strife.
Yishelem; the Holy City of a once monstrous Homeland State.
Elitism, exposed
It's vaguely known; like a deja vu that you can't quite grasp the feel of it, the absurd wealth gap between the coastal regions of the Holy Land and the "doomed basin" on the other side of the Karkaari lingers obscenely; like the stench of trash left to rot under a scorching sun.
The advance of the rebel forces westward, after meeting just south of the Yishelem Hills, managed to finally paint that gap in mainstream media: aridness, heat, bad living conditions and Jelbic-Yeudi mafia dominating most of the Holy Land's southwestern landmass.
High-tech and mysterious structures, nuclear power plants and billboards plucked from the bowels of Narik-Yeudi consumer products contrast dark and white against the beige settlements.
An entirely different world from Tel Bira's, Himmelshtern's and Sholemberg's Neset.
The march of the Medebirians
For the first time in modern history, however, the Medebirians - the "scattered" - have the North Bank standing beside them: Jelbic, Yeudi and Pontesian alike marching towards Yishelem; Sholemberg, the City State of oil, petroleum, gas, heavy-industry and the Neset's beating shipping and trade hub, joins hands with Haifbourg, against Tel Bira's cold, money-loving shrugs.
To reclaim the Holy City; and with it, hopefully, a brighter, less elitist future.
