Xsampa accepts overtures to Kalistan; Premier Sherab Aurousseau to visit Kaliburg.
---------------------------
December 5th, 5688
---------------------------
Ever since the disaster that was the Mearvi-Shar Conference almost a decade ago, Xsampa under the S Aurousseau Administration (CPX) has managed to rehabilitate itself largely, normalizing relations with Bianjie and Egelion, expanding trade drastically with various nations across the world, seeing the establishment of the Sovereign Sea Accords, and even established a roadmap for self determination in the West Bank. However, one country that did take a sour look at Xsampa over the Mearvi-Shar Conference was none other than Kalistan. With trade relations ended and the two nations essentially being put on pause, many didn't expect much progress to be made in terms of restoring relations. However when Premier Sherab Aurousseau offered condolences to Kalistan over the loss of their Imperial Majesties, the door was moved ever so slightly. Now, it seems the door is open as Kalistan has invited Xsampa to Kaliburg to renormalize relations.
As such, Premier Sherab Aurousseau will fly to Kaliburg, and engage in good faith negotiations to renormalize relations. Obviously it is understandable that we visit Kalistan instead due to their recent incident with boats. While so far, it is specifically for the normalizing relations once again, the possibility of trade is always there, but it's unlikely to be achieved immediately and it's also unlikely that Premier Aurousseau will have much interest in pushing for trade this early, instead focusing on relations first. Before leaving Metz-Leonid today, she gave the following statement.
Quote:I look forward to meeting with Kalistan, and I'm optimistic that we can achieve a good deal and renormalize relations. I understand that despite our ideological differences, Kalistan is ultimately a force of good, both for global security, and for bettering the human condition across the world.
As the Premier heads to Kaliburg, it's suffice to say that the S Aurousseau Administration has focused heavily on foreign policy, both in her first and second term. Repairing relations with Kalistan would arguably be the final bow on fixing the effects of Mearvi-Shar. Yet what's also interesting is, reports from within the People's Committee of Revolutionary Culture have come about, due to the Premier requesting a report on cultural developments, likely due to the fact that the current Empress of Kalistan visited in the past (prior to her ascension) for cultural reasons. Whatever the case, there's optimism that relations with Kalistan can be restored and normalized.

Xsampa leaves the West Bank early; Xsampans celebrate the leaving of Majatra.
---------------------------------
January 28th, 5689
---------------------------------
It would seem that a major turn of events has occured regarding the West Bank, as Premier S Aurousseau has signed Revolutionary Order 513, formally authorizing the all Xsampan Democratic Army units in the West Bank to leave, and return home. This comes after the request from Pontesi, the Triad and Wrnuke to leave to ensure a continued stability in the peninsula. So, what happens to the West Bank? It'll be granted full independence, and allowed to choose it's future (which will likely be joining the new Yeudi State). All XDA forces will begin withdrawing as soon as possible. This effectively means that the West Bank is no longer considered a Special Autonomous Canton, nor no longer recognized as under Xsampan Authority.
The reaction back home has been nothing but immense support, as many Xsampans have been in favour of leaving Majatra, and most Xsampans were quite worried over the future of the SAC and dragging Xsampa further into Majatran affairs. With a permanent peace secured between the Xsampans and Yeudis, and the Yeudi State unable to form a threat to Xsampa again, due to the dismantling of nuclear labs, missile silos and the like. For all intents and purposes, containment has been successful, and now the XDA returns home.
As the Mearvi-Shar Conference is formally phased out, this also means that Xsampa no longer has any commitments to the Three Point Federation, and as such will depart. As a new decade looms, many questions are likely to be asked for the future of Majatra, but what's certain is Xsampa will have no interests in Majatra. The West Bank while formally independent, is likely to become a part of this new Yeudi State within a short manner. As per Revolutionary Order 513, the People's Committee of Foreign Affairs has confirmed with Yishelem on leaving the West Bank and the 3PF to ensure transparency and smoothness.

Formation of the Xsampa Improvement Party; Daenists split from the GNP.
---------------------------
April 20th, 5689
---------------------------
In recent months, the GNP has fighting itself. Between Traditionalists, Social Monarchists, Daenists and the like, the GNP has arguably begun to face the same crisis that the CPX was afflicted with in the 5670s. Simply being too big of a tent. Yesterday, it would seem that it culminated to a new tipping point as several prominent members of the GNP renounced their membership, and announced the formation of a party that is explicitly Daenist (compared to the GNP being more secular). That party? The Xsampa Improvement Party.
This means that the XIP is going to content the 5690 elections, much to the detriment of the GNP. But what exactly is the XIP's platform? For starters, the XIP is looking to be the go to party for political Daenists, advocating for a more moral voice in government, in accordance with Daenist values whilst still respecting secularism, as per the constitution. Furthermore, they've promoted the ideas of civic nationalism, pushing for a proud Xsampa. While nationalism is always controversial in Xsampa, the XIP is looking to mold it while it can. Furthermore, their manifesto (while it remains unclear what the campaign will look like as the campaign trail has yet to occur) has called for reducing reliance on the Tsokling, and empowering charity, looking to encourage Xsampans TO be more charitable.
Of course, the GNP itself has understandably been less than happy to see this occur, as a split so close to elections is a major issue, both for internal party stability, and for voters perception. How this will split the conservative vote is yet to be seen and won't be seen until February, but pundits are sure to enjoy this.

Trade deal with Ntoto; Looking to our western neighbour.
----------------------------
June 6th, 5689
----------------------------
The People's Committee of Foreign Affairs has announced it's final deal with another country before hunkering down and preparing for the inevitable administrative shift that will occur due to elections (as the current administration is ineligible to be re-elected for another term). The deal? A trade deal with Ntoto.
So, what is Ntoto gaining? For starters, let's start off strong. Ntoto has chosen to become a recipient of the New Hope Initiative, and as such, Xsampa will invest into the infrastructure and education of Ntoto, support infrastructure development, work with local authorities in Ntoto to employ locals, and pave the way for energy sovereignty. Given the current status of Ntoto, the main focus will be on assisting their economic growth first and foremost. Furthermore, Ntoto has chosen to buy arms from Xsampa, particularly ammunition and drones.
The goal of this will be to ensure that Ntoto adequately develops, and ensure friendlier relations are established with all neighbours. As such, due to the elections being closer and closer, this is likely to be the final action of the PCFA before preparing for a shift in administration.

CPX Primaries begin; Several candidates seek to share their vision.
--------------------------
August 12th, 5689
--------------------------
The primaries for the Communist Party of Xsampa have formally begun. With elections in February, the CPX is likely to go forward with a strong lead due to the success of the S Aurousseau Administration, and whoever wins the Primary has a very strong chance to win the general election in February. But with Sherab Aurousseau ineligible to run once again due to term limits, the general question has been, who will succeed her in the CPX? The answer to that question is more complicated. But that's why primaries exist, as whoever prevails will become the nominee for Premiership, and have their chance to offer their vision of Participatory Metzism.
While Sherab Aurousseau has not yet endorsed anyone, and it's unknown if she will, several candidates are already off to a strong start. Our first candidate, is none other than Comrade Chokzay Trengwa, current Commissar of the People's Committee of Labour, Union, and Proletarian Affairs
Comrade Trengwa has chosen to enter the Primaries and has chosen a relatively economic first message, focusing on expanding market socialism, infrastructure projects, such as revitalization of Internet infrastructure, and expanding economic ties with SSA states (which currently only includes Bianjie at the moment). Being apart of the Moderate Neo-Socialists, Trengwa would largely be seen as a continuation of the CPX orthodoxy, and as a soft continuation of the S Aurousseau Administration.
Next, is Comrade Monlam. Currently a representative in PAX and a supporter of the New Line wing of the CPX, she's based her message on what she defined as economic internationalism and less entanglement. She's advocated for expanding trade drastically, expanding Alter-Globalism, and ultimately focusing on ensuring trade is expanded and that Xsampans benefit first and foremost. Comrade Monlam would largely be a foreign policy focused administration, with things domestically not being shaken up too much.
Next, is Comrade Metok Gorkha, a prominent bureaucrat within the People's Committee of Human Development, focusing his message on everyday socialism, looking to expand healthcare drastically across the country, and give it a major funding boost, expanding the bureaucracy via more social workers and bureaucrats to speed up said bureaucracy, and improving worker conditions in heavy industry, such as potentially lowering work hours to match the 4 day workweek. Also a Moderate Neo-Socialist, Gorkha has also endorsed reforms to the Tsokling System to combat the Tsokling Deficit, and continued humane fiscal reforms.
Another surprise candidate is Comrade Duga, current Commissar of Rindrak Public Security, calling for anti corruption reforms, both within Public Security and across the entire government, and doing major reforms to all sects of Public Security.
The final candidate making a bid is Dolkar Aukatsang, currently a Representative within PAX. Aukatsang has chosen to frame his message around Collective Dovani Security, arguing that efforts must be made to protect Dovani from foreign imperialism, expanding and strengthening mutual aid programs to the rest of Dovani, expanding the Xsampan Democratic Army. Arguing that protecting Dovani protects Xsampa, Comrade Aukatsang has championed the idea of expanding defense manufacturing to provide new jobs, diversify the economy and ensure that the XDA is adequately ready for any crisis. While not a hawk, it's hard to call Aukatsang a dove either, and it's unlikely that he can win the Primary. Unlikely, but not impossible.
So far, these are simply all the candidates with the strongest leads (each to vary degrees). It won't be until the end of the month or early September that we see the results of the Primaries. With or without Comrade Sherab Aurousseau endorsing someone, these primaries are sure to bring out CPX voters.

Chokzay Trengwa prevails in the CPX Primaries; Don't rock the boat.
------------------------
September 3rd, 5689
------------------------
It would seem that the results of the CPX 5689 Primaries was a close race between Comrade Trengwa and Comrade Gorkha, but it seems ultimately, the CPX voter base was swayed by infrastructure reforms more than Tsokling reforms. As such, Chokzay Trengwa is set to become the CPX Nominee for Premier for the 5690 elections. Despite the close race, Comrade Gorkha has gone out of his way to give a very strong endorsement for Trengwa and has even campaigned for him, saying that while he would have loved to secured the nomination, he believes in Trengwa's vision for Xsampa. However, it doesn't mean Everyday Socialism goes to the shelf, as due to the close primary, Trengwa has claimed that he will look into expanding measures to combat the deficit, and especially expanding the bureaucracy. While not to the same extent as Gorkha, it's something.
Whatever the case, if elected (and most agree it's a strong possibility due to the current national mood), Trengwa would be an administration that doesn't rock the boat, and especially one that continues the S Aurousseau Administration in spirit. As CPX voters rally around infrastructure (particularly Internet modernization), the opposition is finding itself rather lackluster, with the GNP spending more time trying to convince it's voter base to not defect to the XIP, and the SLP running a relatively milquetoast campaign, and it's likely they'll be out of the Premiership for another 5 years (15 years if they lose 5690). While a supermajority is impossible for the CPX as the national mood for the Communist Party isn't that good, it's likely that the CPX will be able to form a strong coalition with arguably anyone.
Whatever the case, the 5690 elections will certainly be interesting. As the Sherab Aurousseau administration comes to an end, the big question for Sherab Aurousseau is, what's next? She's been in politics for quite some time now, being engaged since the 70s. 20 years is alot for someone. Especially in politics. So, it's likely that she'll retire or at the very least take an advisory role for the CPX.

Trengwa prevails in elections; CPX secures another 5 years.
-----------------------------------
February 20th, 5690
-----------------------------------
The 5690 elections have concluded with a result that many felt was to be anticipated. Comrade Trengwa of the CPX has been elected Premier, and the CPX has established a governing coalition with the SLP once again. In regards to the general election, this has been a bad cycle for the GNP, dropping to 66 seats. Not the worst, but certainly not the best. The newly formed Xsampa Improvement Party managed to secure 37 seats in PAX, whilst Left-Green Dovani secured 42, a general decrease since 5685. For the SLP, they've secured 162, and the CPX itself secured 241, their highest vote share since pluralism. Alongside the usual 1 seat for the XFL, 6 independents were elected, and perhaps most surprisingly, the Democratic Progressive Party managed to re-enter PAX with 3 seats. Land and Bread however dropped to 6 seats, with most votes being taken by XIP.
With Trengwa inaugurated, he's promised a major infrastructure investment package, looking to target Internet modernizations, Xsampan Railway Network expansions, the formal creation of a proper highway network, hydroelectricity and other clean energy efforts. Alongside this, Trengwa has promised fiscal reforms, looking to continue fighting the Tsokling Deficit, expand the bereaucracy and increase social workers, and generally not rock the boat too much. Having the majority to enact his agenda as he sees fit, Trengwa won't need to wrangle much of PAX to pass bills.
Overall, a very good election for the CPX. Whether it be infrastructure or fiscal reforms, Trengwa will certainly have a very busy administration. Whether it'll be enough to carry him through 5695 is too early to say, but what's certain is that he'll have alot of work to do.

Formalization of an Embassy in Kaliburg; Reinstating relations with Kalistan.
![[Image: Consulate_General_of_China_in_SF.JPG]](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/50/Consulate_General_of_China_in_SF.JPG)
---------------------------
May 18th, 5690
---------------------------
Ever since comrade Sherab Aurousseau visited Kalistan in 5688, relations with Kalistan have shifted from cold to relatively cordial. However, the lack of proper diplomatic infrastructure only left the two countries at a position of being friendly towards each other and nothing else. This week, the Trengwa Administration has announced the formal creation of an Embassy in Kaliburg, which will bear the responsibilities of representing Xsampa, ensuring positive relations with Kaliburg, and ensuring a direct quick line of communication in any event. Comrade Chokey Vasseur has been named Ambassador to the Empire of Ananto and Kalistan. The goal of this is to not only expand diplomacy, which is always a general win, but pick up off of where the S Aurousseau Administration stopped in 5688 and restoring positive warm relations with Kalistan.
The formal opening of an embassy does two things. One, it shows that Xsampa is genuine and serious about repairing relations with Kalistan, and two, its a good first step to restoring programs such as trade or cultural exchange with Kalistan. And with a permanent Ambassador in Kalistan, ideally the miscommunication (or rather lack of communication) that occured during Mearvi-Shar will be avoided. The current Commissar of the People's Committee of Foreign Affairs, comrade Tsomo Gurung (CPX) has, as expected, praised this move, citing the following.
Quote:I believe this is a fantastic step forward for Xsampan-Kalistani relations. And arguably, a good step forward for improving relations with Anantonese states. It's no secret that our relations with states in the Anantonese Ocean is sparse. This is a wonderful change of pace, and I believe having Comrade Vasseur in Kalistan will do wonders for relations. I believe, with Kalistan, there is alot of potential. and I believe this is a good first step at restoring old programs and establishing new ones.
Whether this'll culminate in anything further or not is yet to be seen, but it's certainly a start to restoring fully cordial relations indefinitely.

Internet Modernizations begin; The beginning of Infrastructure Reforms.
![[Image: worker_on_5g_tower_afp_29_10_20-1.jpg]](https://www.asiafinancial.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/worker_on_5g_tower_afp_29_10_20-1.jpg)
-----------------------------
August 24th, 5690
-----------------------------
Its no secret that within Xsampa, it excels at offering many things for its citizens. Housing, healthcare, education, welfare. One thing however that most Xsampans firmly agree on however, is that the Internet sucks. So much so that it became a major campaign issue for the 5690 election. Something that comrade Trengwa has campaigned on (alongside other infrastructure reforms but the Internet modernization was the main appeal). Today, the People's Committee of Infrastructure and Development has announced a full five year plan for Internet modernization, looking to fully modernization Xsampan Internet, and make it both reliably and fast.
So what does this actually mean in practical terms? Well for starters, upgrades. All across the country, the Xsampan Job Corps will be remobilized once again to begin upgrades on old copper fibre, expanding optical loops to connect all Canton Capitals, and introducing high capacity clusters. There are two goals. One, make personal Internet faster. And two, make all of society benefit from faster Internet rates, whether it be rural clinics having telemedicine, Local Committee's having an easier time coordinating, or Social Enterprises syncing data. Not only does this boost output and production (or at least make it easier which helps the economy on a micro level), but having slow Internet is likely to one day be a reason why fascism rises in a foreign country.
Of course, the PCID has shared its plans for what's next, as while this effort is being done, it will likely take a year or two. So once this part is done, next would be a major focus on accessibility. This part would involve working with Social Enterprises and Worker Co-operatives, where the state will own the fibre, but SEs and Co-operative will handle installation, maintenance and the like. Ideally by this point, the XJC will be available to assist installation in rural Xsampa, and ensure uniform internet access. Alongside this, the state will subsidize the construction of rural relay towers. This part would largely focus on making the Internet faster for every Canton, and ideally, every Local Committee.
Whatever the case, for now, the focus is on laying the groundwork for fully modernizing the Internet and making it faster for every Xsampan. So where even the slowest doesn't take 5 minutes. Due to how much demand there is for Internet modernizations, this is priority 1 for any infrastructure plans the Trengwa Administration will have.
