Twenty-five gold medal winners and history-makers were on the flight into the Piyalciyak Airport today, alongside twenty-four silver and seventeen bronze medalists on the board from the Valruzian capital city, Nowogard, as the Bianjian national Olympic team return triumphant from the Summer Games, finishing second in the medal table, just behind the hosts, Valruzia, themselves. "For a nation of just 13 million people, in the middle of Dovani, this result is a grand surprise, but also it shows that if we are determined, if we are ready, we can achieve anything", said the president of the Bianjie Khanate Olympic Committee (BKOC), Babuhai Jebe. Bianjie's athletes have overcame the teams and Olympians of such big and powerful nations like Dundorf, Luthori, Egelion, and Bianjie's own neighbours, Xsampa, who have finished at the 12th place, out of fourteen participating countries total.

Congratulating the national team were also premier Semken Tan, and Khan Nilhuma. "The determination, skills and the very hard work that the athletes along their supporters have shown throughout these very unique times and Games themselves, have been nothing but a big inspiration to us all, to continue believing, and working hard to achieve the dreams and all the victories we want", said the Khan. Premier Tan, alongside members of her government, held a press conference, congratulating all the Bianjian Olympians at their success, including the announcement that the State Council will be reorganising the current Ministry of Culture, Youth and Tourism into two separate departments: the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, as a new strategy of increased focus towards the sports in the country, following the "increased interest in sports", as a result of the "tremendous success" of the Olympic team.

Among the Bianjie's gold medalists are the nation's swimmers, who managed to grab 9 gold medals out of the 26 possible, just falling by two behind the hosts, who won 11 gold medals in the swimming. "There were just too many emotions at the moment, but now, looking back at it, I think it is just one of happiest minutes in my life", said Hua Kang, who won a golden medal in 100m freestyle swimming race, and set the national record with his finish time. Alongside the swimmers, Bianjie's fencers and gymnasts won the gold medals in the first week of the Games. "Getting that last hit, throwing the helmet, and just screaming, it feels so great, and it feels even greater that I won the medal for myself, for my family, and our country. I showed everyone: Bianije is here to win", said the foil fencing winner Eje Tumot.

In the second week of the Summer Games, Bianjian Olympians were not as succesful, however, they still managed to surprise many with their big victories in the archery, winning 3 out of 5 golden rewards possible, despite the fact that prior to the results, the Vanukean archers were considered the favourites to win. Makata Selje, who was a part of the women's team, that won the medal, coming first ahead of Vanuku, said to the journalists that it is the fact that Bianjie were considered the underdogs of the competition only motivated them more, pushing to the limits, and "practically stealing" the medals up the Vanuku's nose. "But I hope you know it is all jokes and stuff, we befriended Vanukean athletes, and many of them are very nice and good people, and it is all in the spirit of competition", said Selje. Bianjie's male runners also managed to grab two golden medals: Tayiji Giri in the general 100m race, and the national relay team coming out victorious in the 4x100m race. To finish the second week on a high note, the Bianjian Olympians won one of two golden medals in a surprising, and yet somehow so close to heart, mountain biking (cycling), with male team winning gold, and women's team finishing at silver.

For the last week of the Games, Bianjian Olympic team brought another seven golden medals, bringing up a total to 25 golden medals from three weeks of the Olympic Games in Valruzian capital city, Nowogard. Professional tennis players joined the list of gold medalists from Bianije, as the male table tennis squad won their golden medal in a final match against the Narikaton and Darnussia, while Oboi Esuri won Bianije's first gold medal in tennis, against the opponent from Mordusia. "You saw me sweaty, playing for a third hour at this point", Esuri laughed as he told reporters, "but winning against such big professionals, especially like my Mordusian counterpart, is both an honour, and a huge victory and proud moment for me". Football also brought Bianjie a golden medal, with Bianjian men's national team winning the Olympic tournament, with women's team coming in third for a bronze medal. At the same time, volleyball, despite its popularity and following, sadly, did not bring any gold, however, a silver for female team, and bronze for both men and women team in beach volleyball. "We simply have to try better, but the competition was not weak either, but it was a disappointing result for us", said the men's national volleyball team coach, Kai Jikumae. And for the final phase of the third week, and Olympic season as a whole, Bianjian strongmen in weightlifting and wrestling brought the final four gold medals, thus wrapping up the Olympic Games in Valruzia, with Bianjie ending in the second place by both gold medals and total medal number, 25 and 66, respectively.

Premier Tan announces major political reform, including the amendment to the electoral system of the nation

During the campaign for the leadership, back in 5708, then-Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and soon-to-be the Premier, Semken Tan promised that the government under her leadership will be focusing more on the smaller, distant territories, or the rural country in general, as opposed to the more centralised policy coming from the previous Magenta coalition governments. Following her victory many speculated, when or how, the new Premier would her vision for the new focus of the Socialist-led goverment, and today the answer has been found.

At the specially convened press conference at the Premier's Official Residence in Gemun, the head of the government has announced that the government will be presenting its major bill that intends to amend the political system of the country. Speaking to the press, Tan has said that, back 40 years ago, the changes to the electoral system limited people's choice in the election, significantly widening the gap between the elites in Gemun and people around the nation, espeically in less accessible territories. "If there is no direct responsibility, no one will care about the smaller citizen", said the Premier. And thus, the major part of the omnibus bill concerns the nation's electoral system, which would be reversed to the pre-5647 system, reviving older "parallel" or mixed system, where 60% of the 229 members of the Khanate Yuan, which would equal 137, would elected according to the first-past-the-post system in the single-member constituencies drawn by an independent commission every 25 years, taking population, geography, ethnic and other statistics into the account. "We want represetation, but we want a fair and equal representation, however, obviously, any voice will be great for the rural Bianjie, and we are more than glad to give it to them". The rest of the Khanate Yuan deputies, that is 92, will be chosen across 9 blocks, based on the nation's provinces, elected using the proportional representation system, with the fixed number of MPs in each block also being reviewed every 25 years, in accordance to the demographic changes.

For many, the proposal was viewed positively, though some pundits and opposition leaders raised questions and timing of the proposal, insinuating that the Premier is changing the nation's Electoral Code to benefit the Socialist People's Party, as such mixed parallel system may very well be unproportional and unrepresentative of the people's actual vote, according to the leader of the opposition, and DPP leader, Erdeni Niri. "The real intention is not to give people in rural Handuba a voice in the Yuan, it is to get SPP more seats, however unfair and undemocratic that is. But that is however today's Socialist Party operates, sadly", said Niri. Leader of sovereignists, Eidu Arakcou, said that NRA supports the proposal on paper, but "it must be done by a non-socialist government", indirectly support the position of the democrats, that the SPP is trying to benefit off of this. "It is about time that we give our voice back to the provinces, but I do not believe that is the actual reason of why they are doing this", said Arakcou.

At the same time, the proposed political reform includes the political control of the State Council members, allowing the nation's supreme legislative body to call ministers for hearings, as well as initiating the personal votes of no confidence in ministers separately from the government as a whole. Premier Tan defends the decision, despite the historically all-powerful position of the head of government, saying that "if we are ought to give people direct control over the members they elect to the Yuan, we must give the people control over the ministers, who will be the very same members people elect". In addition to the changes to the national political system, the omnibus proposal involves changes to the local elections, which would pave the way for creation of the independent local lists, to "present an alternative to the citizens, who are not willing to side with any existing party".

Following the presentation, Secretary-General of the State Council, Rong Litari spoken more in detail about the organisation part of the presented bill. However, it does not conflict the schedule, and the public can expect the government to present the omnibus proposal in full in less than two weeks before the Khanate Yuan, where Premier Tan expects the "maximum support, across the chamber and aisle".

A common currency might be the way forward for Dovani, the finance minister says

Dovani has been in a lengthy process of growing cooperation and clower relationship in ways more than just a single one, like diplomacy, military or, obviously, economy. Despite it being a slow and not as proactive process, there is significant process that is reflected in the collective economic growth and attractiveness of Dovanian economies. However, there is still a major problem that the continent is yet to solve: currency. Ever since the slow downfall of the Lourenne, and its fleur, which has been used across the Dovani as the single international currency, now no longer truly services it purpose, and represents a rather stagnant and an overshadowed economy and currency, by other more appealing economic units, like Egelian crown.

But, for Dovani, and Bianjie especially, who fight for a united Dovani, united from foreign influence, and united with its own institutions, be it diplomatic, military or economic, it is a serious question, that opens doors for big and important internal discussions. Among many of those discussions, is the recent speech by the Bianjian finance minister Ilha Kesiketeng at the College of Dovani in Guihecen, where the Minister of Finance expressed her opinion that Dovani might want to look on a possibility of creating a single common currency, that may or may not be adopted by the countries across the continent, and serve as the monetary unit that will as a uniting and stabilising tool for the continental economies. According to Kesiketeng, a common currency would also be helpful in creating foundation for even closer cooperation, and creation of common instutitions. "However, I fully understand the difference in ideological and economic stand points of different countries across our shared homeland that we call Dovani", said finance minister. "But, I still believe a common currency might be something that, if implemented right, can be a way into big leagues, as kids say". Kesiketeng added that if Dovanians are ought to cooperate between themselves, a common currency will be an important factor in making it more accessible, more standartised, and thus more oriented towards the ordinary people, as well as making Dovani a powerful competitor and a major market for business beyond the continent.
 
Kesiketeng added that for a continent as big and complex as Dovani, there must be a massive research, and a possibility to kickstarting the regional common currencies, like in the South, East, possibly Northwest, which would help peg the smaller regional economies to that newly-created currency, stabilise the markets and help countries control the monetary policy, before being able to slowly transfer towards, and finally adapt the bigger, more unstable at the beginning, but stable and economically profitable pan-Dovani common currency. "I want everyone to understand, we are not in Makon or Keris, where it is just three or four countries. That is extremely easy to manage", said Kesiketeng. "Dovani has 28 countries, representing a billion and a half people, which is 1/4th of the world population, so if we were to do it, it must be done delicately, with precision". Still, Kesiketeng remains doubtful about the chances of this happening, as she points out clear opposition from a number of state actors across the Dovani, for many reasons, however, she remains calm and understandable, and ready to communicate the position, and be open for a debate. "I am not the foreign minister, but I am still the minister, who participates in a number of pan-Dovani conferences, and I have a platform to showcase our position, our openness to discuss it, because we have this opinion, and we are ready to defend it", said finance minister.

Bianjie joins the bidding process for Rossfadda alongside Dovanian allies
Nation's state-owned Bianjie Oil and Gas Company unites forces with the New Verhamese counterpart to enter the bidding process as a united Dovanian bloc

It has been almost a year, since the New Englian government has announced that it would sell the Rossfadda Oil Field, owned by the local national oil company, Petroenglia, for a term contract, prompting double joint bids for the contracts, with companies across the world coming to fight for the ownership of the field, turning the simple process into a full-on proxy war. And now, Bianjie joins the war alongside our allies in New Verham, to reassert the Dovanian position, and present the local alternative for the New Englian contractors.

The Bianijan Oil and Gas Company (BOGC), colloquially known as the Besekiga, in a joint bid, together with the New Verhamese partially state-owned Western Oil Company (BGTK), are moving towards winning the contract "for Dovani" and "against exploitation". The primary position the joint Bianjie–NV ticket takes in their reasoning for the move, is that New Englia is a part of the wider Dovanian continent, and thus it must be Dovani and Dovani only, that controls over its resources. "We want to make it very and very clear, it could've been a small irrelevant contract fight between some local or regional companies, and that would be it, but when foreign nations getting involved, foreign heads of state and officials, to intervene, disrupt, or exploit, it turns into a complete mess, that must be stopped", said the CEO of the Besekiga, Muke Atamu. While oil plays a big interest in the two companies' joint bid, especially further experience of drilling, refining and others proceses, the "Dovanian bid" wants to "keep it in Dovani, for Dovanians".

"It must be said that these moves are being done out of necessity, and us accepting the hard reality that is the world of businesses and competition. Politicising such a bid is not something we wish do, but we have, if truly want to show our seriousness about protecting the Dovanian businesses and resources from the foreign interventions", said Atamu.

The bid drew criticism from the opposition and members of the ruling parties, however, also found out its supporters on the right-wing benches, who support the actions of the state-owned oil company, like National Conservative Union leader, Desikū Gurhas, who said that while he personally opposes the "pan-Dovanian absurdity", allowing foreigners to take over such crucial resources, such as oil, is unacceptable, especially consdering the whole process that has been ongoing for almost a year now.

Ministry of Finance to begin consultations with the DEAB and other Dovanian allies about a regional development bank
Nation's agency in charge of the finance announced that it initiated the talks with its Dovanian allies regarding the formation of the Dovani Development Bank, as per Tsarlung Treaty

Following the formation of the Dovani Economic Assistance Bloc in the Xsampan city of Tsarlung, and the signing of the homonymous Treaty by the Bianjian and Xsampan representatives, talks about the possible regional, if not continental, development bank have emerged, as the newly-signed treaty included articles about the Dovani Development Bank (DDB), an institution which would be tasked with "productive investments, trade-enabling infrastructure and industrial uplifting". However, the DDB was formally created, and remained in the shadows of DEAB, which by itself moved to the background of the growing pan-Dovanian instutitionalism wave, including the most recent Dovani Security Organisation, which outweighted DEAB quite quickly.

And yet, earlier today, the Ministry of Finance of Bianjie (MOFIN), under the leadership of the Minister Ilha Kesiketeng, has announced the first round of formal talks and negotiations with the members of the DEAB, which currently only includes Xsampa, as well as other Dovanian allies, like New Verham, Utaristan, Seko, Medina and New Englia, regarding the DDB, its functions, funding, tools and purposes in the current reality in the world. According to the MOFIN spokesperson, Delan Xou, the Bianjian vision of DDB, entails it being a neutral body, unable to enforce liberal or socialist policies on recepient states, similarly to the Tsarlung Treaty mentions. However, Xou added, that due to the "vibrant representation of ideologies and cultures", MOFIN expects any initial vision to be far from final. Still, Bianjie remains open and ready to negotiate all the issues or concerns with such institution.

According to the sources of Nippō within the Ministry of Finance negotiation group with Dovanian countries, the Bianjian proposal includes an equal voting power system for all member states, respectively, however, with an exception of the member state hosting the headquarters, as well as the nation of the Chair of the Board of the Governors, which would be a rotative position between member states every 3 years. Both of these exceptions would add 50% and 100% to the voting powers of the DDB member nations, respectively. Additionally, the Bianjian proposal for the Bank includes the ascension of foreign states as observer and non-voting partners, that would cooperate on the funding of operations and projects, as well possibly influecing the decisions, however, this article within the proposal remains "grayed", as in the negotiation group remains doubtful it will be implemented, and thus keeps the article pre-closed.

Still, despite all the preparations, the negotiation group of Bianjie, as well the MOFIN that is trying to push for an implementation, and as a result, creation of the Dovani Development Bank, finds its somewhat hard to believe, that the DDB might happen any time soon, and might require some hard discussions and debates with all the Dovanian states. However, hope remains, as the mission of the potential DDB is noble, and peaceful, and therefore expects a constructive conservation and proposals from the counterparts across the continent to come to a common agreement, that would please if not everyone, then at least most Dovanian states.

First elections under the new electoral system result in a historic victory

GEMUN: In the shadow of the night, as the votes in the final constituencies are being counted, there is one person, who can be ecstatic about the events which have unfolded today. The 61-year-old premier Semken Tan, who led her Socialist People's Party to the historic and resounding landslide victory, can now be happy that her gamble to change the nation's electoral system has paid out, and paid out bigly, as the socialsts manage to secure whole 120 seats in the nation's supreme legislative body, making the best result in party's 98-year history, beating the record of 115 seats won in the 5658 election under the Abatai Soca leadership.

Coming in the midst of New Englia oil bidding, swift rise of the pan-Dovanian institutions, Bianjie's major success in the 5710 Summer Olympics, and general popularity of the premier Tan, the election was widely expected to be won by Tan's own governing coalition of the SPP, alongside its junior partners, the Progressive Communist Party (PCP) and the daeniest democratic True Path Party (TPP), or the Shindotō. Nevertheless, the scope of the victory, was something that many did not believe would happen, as the party of the premier Tan has won almost 60% of the nation's 137 single-member constituencies, contributing to the resouding victory.

Gaining 32 seats in comparison to the last election, comes at the cost of practically every other party losing representation, with the right-wing opposition being affected the most, as the Democratic People's Party won just 54, the worst result for a pan-democratic party/coalition ever. The leader of the DPP, Erdeni Niri has announced his immediate resignation, with the deputy leader, and the Mayor of Lemurhan, in Irudai Province, Kun Zhang assuming the position of the acting leader of the largest opposition party. "I assume personal responsibility, and take action, because I see that voters did not like what DPP under my leadership proposed. And I am sorry to all of our militants for this result", said Niri. "However, one must also take into the account the unfair and unjust system that was introduced by this government". This sentiment was shared by the other DPP candidates who lost their respective races, as well as the leaders of the New Right Alliance, whose sovereignist co-leader Eidu Arakcou, accused premier Tan and her government of "manipulating the people's minds", as well "using the undemocratic means", to achieve the "unrepresentative majorities".

During the campaign, Tan has reaffirmed her political positions, her commitment to the representation of the rural Bianjie, as well as the moderation of the SPP, which some political pundits see as the attempt to move the party towards the centre, which would, in the minds of the Socialist leadership, making the SPP more appealing to the right-wing voters, which evidently has worked, as the ISUG exit poll numbers suggest, as up to 7-8% of the voters, who said they have voted for the DPP or NRA in 5708, switched their votes to SPP in the constituencies, but either kept the voter DPP or NRA in the PR vote, or did not vote at all.

Now, during her victory speech, the premier Tan has promised to be the "premier of everyone and for everyone", remaining open to cooperation with the right as well on certain issues, however, "they must settle down their aggression towards the half of the country", which voted for the left, according to premier herself. "We will continue our path forward, as promised to the people. The people saw, heard, and gave us their trust, to which we will be forever grateful for. Let's keep working together for the best of our country!", Tan said in her victorious speech. The current coalition is expected to continue in office, with SPP wielding even more power and influence within the governing coalition, but Tan's openness to work together and be cooperative might help PCP and TPP to have a strong voice.

During the bilateral meeting with the Midwayan officials in the capital city of the nation, Manapo, the chief of Bianjian diplomacy, Dorgon Mija, has congratulated Midway on its peaceful transfer to the democratic regime, and wished for the best relationship between the two countries



For a couple years now, the eastern neighbour of Bianjie, Midway, been adjusting itself following the successful, yet terribly bloody revolution, which brought the end to the oppresive and dictatorial Gaoic regime installed almost a century ago in the central Dovanian state. And now, as the country is undergoing it democratic transforming, opening to the world, and its close neighbours, including Bianjie, a space to normalise and mend relations between Bianjie and Midway, the delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dorgon Mija, has departed to the capital city of Midway, Manapo, to meet with the country's officials in a two-day visit.

Before departing, foreign minister Mija held a short briefing in the Piyalciyak Airport, where he talked about the objectives of the delegation, and what results the Bianjian diplomats expect from the visit. According to Mija, the primary and most important task as of today, is to simply reestablish friendly relations, as well forge the pathway for the future cooperation in various areas, especially as a part of the growing pan-Dovanist movement. "As a direct neighbour of Midway, it is, and I am sure of that, in our shared interest to work together, to connect economies, to open markets, to open borders, build and construct", said Mija. "Trust me, there is a lot to talk about for our two countries, but first of all, right now we need to simply sit down together, and recognise the existence of one another, after decades of radio silence".

During the first day of the visit, Mija and the Bianjian delegation met with the Midwayan foreign minister and their diplomatic corps, discussing at length the diplomatic aspect of renewal of relations between the two Dovanian nations, ending in ceremonial signing of the first joint resolution, signalising the beginning of a new Dovanian friendship with Bianjie, further allowing to expand the network of a growing Dovanian cooperation and globalisation. Mija described the resolution as a "landmark move", that will kickstart "a great and very close relationship" between Bianjie and Midway, the one they "ought to have", according to Bianjian foreign minister, as the neighbours in the middle of Dovani.

On a second day of the visit of the Bianjian delegation, which besides the members of the national diplomatic corps, included various representatives and officials of the State Council, like the Minister of Economy, Industry and Trade, Tabai Manixay, as well as the Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, Suksaha Amuru, both of whom have met with their respective counterparts to discuss a number of collaborations of Bianjie with Midway, especially in terms of the rail infrastructure, as Bianjie hopes to reconnect the countries with the railway, as well construct new projects, including the high-speed lines, which hopefully woould be connected later to the greater informal project, that is sometimes dubbed as the Pan-Dovanian Railway in the media.

At the same the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dorgon Mija, met with the Midwayan president Hiroshi Matsumoto, for whom Mija delievered a special message from the Bianjian premier, Semken Tan, who invited Matsumoto and Midwayan delegation to Bianjie, for a similar two- or three-day visit, with the intention of discussing the relationship further, as well growing the peaceful personal friendships. "Our work does not end here, in fact, that is only the beginning of a long road that our two countries are about to have, and that was the message that I have delievered to Mr Matsumoto, on a request from premier", said Mija.

Tan reveals new SPP identity for the party's 100th birthday, as concerns about moving socialists to the centre grow

With less than a week before the major celebration happening at the Guneilan Arena for the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Socialist People's Party, the leader of the socialists, Semken Tan, alongside the second number of the SPP, secretary-general Alin Noulet, has surprised some, as Tan leadership decided to change the party's brand identity ahead of the centenarian anniversary, changing the original logo that included a small purple star to the left of the SPP's short and colloquial name, to a simple and "corporate", described by some within the party itself, and various national designers, text logotype.

According to Tan, the change of the party's identity, which also includes a new slogan: "For people", as well as the new styling of posters and website, is a part of the socialist strategy to showcase that the party "is moving together with people and new trends", basically giving a refreshed image for the party. "We are a party by the people, of the people, and for the people, and thus we must be there alongside people, alongside the trendsetters, and those follows the trends, despite being almost a hundred years old, we still remain youthful and in touch with the everyone", said Tan during the press conference at the party's headquarters. Indeed, SPP still remains somewhat relevant with the Bianjian youth, with the ISUG average polling, showing SPP at around 25% within the 18-24 group, just a couple points ahead of the PCP and DPP, both at 23%.

However, the move has drawn various levels of criticism and concerns from within the ruling party, as members of the more traditionalist factions remain worried of the continuous progression of the SPP's ideological stance over to the centre during the leadership of Semken Tan, with senior party officials in the Yuan, as well the provincial chapter, anonymously expressing their frustration to the Gemun Post with the new logo, saying it is "yet another attempt of transforming SPP into a more centrist force" from the Tan and her team in charge of the party. "I do get the appeal to be a party for everyone, but it seems more and more evidently that we are starting to forget the foundational principles and ideas of this party, and it can not worry us", said one of the socialist members in the Nimanggi Provincial Assembly.

Bianjie announces it will join the freedom of movement pillar of the Dovani Union to promote free travel between Dovanian countries

The Dovani Union (DU) has been a thing for quite some time now, but it has been slowly growing, expanding and establishing its institutions and policies across the members states, which includes Bianjie, as one of the union's founding states. As an economic and political union, the DU has been mostly all about the growing economies of the Dovanian countries, as well as the close cooperation between the member states.

Recently, New Verham and Xsampa have announced the signing of the Freedom of Movement Pillar of the Dovani Union, which entails an almost complete liberty for citizens of the aforementioned nations to travel between countries, with no restrictions and obstacles, such as visas, controls and more. For a while, Bianjie has been contemplating to join the pillar, with politicians on both sides of the aisle arguing for the proposal, while the ruling government has been rather sceptic, yet still open to the idea. And thus, months of discussions, internal and extermal, commenced at the State Council's initiative, researching all the pros and cons, as well the mechanisms of implementing it to not interfere or create chaos for the airport controls and other Bianjian border enforcement agencies.

Finally, after almost two years of waiting, following the signing of the pillar by the Xsampan and New Verhamese officials, the Bianjian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), has announced that it has signed the agreement, thus joining the DU's newly-founded Freedom of Movement Pillar, with the national border enforcement agencies being ordered to decrease the level of control for the nationals coming from the signatory parties, however retaining the need to present basic identity documents, such as passports of ID cards, as well as keeping the strict control on the labour travel and so on. "It is a historic moment for Dovanian cooperation, above all, because it shows everyone, and other Dovanian countries, especially, that peaceful co-existence and joint work is possible, to achieve higher goals, that benefit everyone, no matter the ideology, or otherwise", the foreign minister, Dorgon Mija, said.

Bianjie and its relationship with the abortions and women's right to choose

Despite progressing quickly with regards to many social issues, Bianjie was and still is somewhat conservative country, with many of the people, mostly from older generation, not accepting changing social norms and traditions in the nation. Ever since the reinstallation of the khanate monarchy in the August 5373, Bianjie has been swinging back and forth on many of the issues, including abortion. Following the coup, the new absolutist executive power installed harsher rules on the women's right to choose, at first completely banning any abortions in the country, later on relaxing it to allow exemptions in case of rape or risk to life of the child, but it still was not enough.

The draconian laws would remain in place until the middle of the 55th century, when absolutist khanate monarchy regime would undergo a series of democratisation reforms, which would result in the review of many laws, including the main and the most important one, the Constitution. The reformist forces behind the democratisation period in Bianjie, led by the Liberal Party governments, expanded the civil rights, including the right to choose, erasing socially conservative provisions in the Consitution, enshrined inside the basic law by the absolutist forces in the 54th century. By the end of the initial democratisation period, then-premier Ebilun Samusir (LP), has announced that Bianjie will once again allow pregnancy terminations for medical reasons, risk of health or life, or rape cases, but when it came to the personal freedoms, Samusir refused to answer, creating a new wave of protests and marches for women's rights in the country.

In the 55th century, during the Bianjie Democratic Action (BDA) governments, the government continued the status quo in Bianjie, leaving relatively common sense abortion laws in place, but refusing to allow more personal liberties for women. That is until the BDA government was forced to implement changes to the abortion laws, allowing up to 10 weeks on women's request, by the PFP, following the general election, in which BDA lost its majority, and was required to make a coalition. PFP leader at the time, Atu Maca, a woman herself, has said: "Politicising this issue is the last thing that we want, but the reality of the matter is that we as a party have the priviledge to decide the next government, and we will use it, to push for the changes the people need". 

And so, in the 56th, came the latest and final major change to the legislation regarding pregnancy terminations in Bianjie. During the third government of Sain Jalar (SPP), the State Council has uplifting the limits on the cases of risk of health and life, as well as rape cases, increasing the limit on fetal impairments and economic or social reasons up to 22 weeks, and the most importantly, allowing to perform abortions on request as late as 18 weeks, however, after a consultation with professional doctor. According to then-health minister, Yabuli Ibe (PCP), the provision was "as progressive as humanly possible" in an environment of a somewhat socially conservative society, especially when it comes to such controversial issues, like abortion. Slowly, but solidly, the public opinion did become more positive and open to the new legislation, and issue in general, as the new generations born already in the globalising Bianjie grew up, becoming adults and legal voters. According to the most recent opinion poll by the Institute of Sociology of the University of Gemun (ISUG), in December 5615, little more than half of the respondents, 54% support women's right to choose, while 38% remain negative about abortions, with only 78% among pro-life voters supporting abortion in extreme cases, like rape and risk of health.
