Kommenda scrambles for political capital: Calls for early elections
Kommenda announcing the dissolution of parliament and early elections
1. April of 5562, After what some provocatively call a party political "shitshow" incumbent President Robert Kommenda is scrambling for political capital. According to VVP insiders the leader of the Dual Republic is under intense pressure from all sides, including his own party, some think that the VVP needs to cut its losses and accept the defeat at the current terms. "Riding this out" doesnt not seem like an option for the disgruntled party elite. These are probably the reasons for his latest risky move, he is dissolving the parliament a few months early in an attempt to generate some momentum for the VVP election campaign. He is facing the heavy-hitting zum Clenonberg who is set to race in a head-to-head against Kommenda in the presidential bid. What baffled even more was the sudden nature of the decision, the government set the date for the new elections to the 6th of May, democracy institutes criticize this as threatening to the procedure of the election day.

THE RESULTS ARE IN, the next president is...

Vanessa zum Clenonberg at the DRP election Gala
Results of the parliamentary election
Bannerhafen, Presidential Palace, the faces of the officials of the Kommenda administration show us what the polls have been teasing all year long. The VVP sits at a meager 29% of the vote meaning a hurtful -24% for the formerly dominant party of the nation. In addition to huge losses in the Nationalrat, the presidency has also gone to the DRP candidate Vanessa zum Clenonberg. While the presidential was very close due to the personal popularity of Robert Kommenda, in the end it means a period without the VVP anywhere near power. Especially considering that before the election the DRP has already made advances toward the two centrist farmer parties Landbund and Groene Boeren Bond who seemed interested in spot in government. The one responsible for the formation of a new government now is designated President Vanessa zum Clenonberg. The 36 year old had an exemplary life until now, she was one of the youngest legal sciences alumni of the University of Merenbürg and has additionals degree in cultural as well as economic sciences. After a brief episode of teaching at the her alma mater, she joined the DRP where she quickly found followers which lead her to the pole position today. We are excited to see what this new era will bring to the Dual Republic. The DRP were too busy partying and the VVP didnt answer our calls so sadly we dont have any speeches to share.
Now on to the other partys, almost all parties claimed to be the big winners of this election. Five new parties now join the fray in parliament, most surprising both farmer parties have managed to gain sizable shares of the electorate which only shows the extent the food price crisis had on the results, which is visibly enormous. Aside from the LB and the GBB, the two extremist parties now appear as minor political forces but nontheless managed to enter the formal political landscape aside from local or regional elections. A peculiar sight is the "resurgent" TKP which managed to gain exactly one seat, barely gathering enough support for a mandate. It's led by the half-lodamese Jerry Thaller-Dinkelberg, an eccentric moderate conservative who has mostly fished among the voters of conspiracy theorists, especially those warning about some yeudi plot. The SDP may have lost votes but actually held quite well considering that this election represents a comeplete shake-up of Dual Republican politics. What political analysts all shared during various TV post-result announcement discussions was the VVP-hostile landscape, almost none of the parties have a reasonably compatible views with the conservative heavyweight, most actually say that the two center-left parties DRP and SDP actually are the most compatible aside from the centrist Landbund which technically would be a viable option but seems to lead a vendetta against the VVP which they refer to as "anti-rural folk crooks."

"Lets get to Work" - Clenonberg Cabinet stands
Infographic of the Clenonberg Cabinet
After two long months of coalition negotiations, the three-party coalition of the social-liberal Democratic Republican Party and centrist Landbund as well as lastly the Green Farmer's Union, finally stands. Apparently the DRP had to give some major portfolios to the smaller parties. Those include Infrastructure, Economic Affairs, Agiculture. While nobody expected that Agriculture would go to the DRP, the Infrastructure and Economic Ministry were surprising to be staffed by Landbund Ministers. Political Pundits explain this by arguing that the Landbund had to be pacified by major positions due to the Greens getting the agricultural ministry, a ministry that has existential dimensions for both parties. Nevertheless zum Clenonberg seemed very excited to finally begin the next chapter of her career, governing the Dual Republic. At the inauguration speech she said: "I think I speak for everyone in this team when I say Thank you to the people of Narikaton and Darnussia for putting their trust into us. There is so much to do, from solving to food crisis, to ensuring security from ruthless black markets opportunists and reconciling with many parts of the world. We assure you, we are going to do our outmost."
According to government publications the president herself is going to be an active foreign policy player while the FM Baumer is going to fill a coordinatory role by administrating the diplomatic corp and focussing on their efficient usage. Zum Clenonberg's calendar is full as some nations have already communicated that they are interested in talking to the Dual Republic after the regime change, many expect a different approach to international politics. Baumer said "The time for VVP-era or rather Dual Republican foundation-era geopolitics is gone, we have to look at different solutions and attitudes now, we have to mature." Economic Affairs Minister Klaudia Maria Vogt in tandem with the president and other ministers is trying to formulate an economic plan throwing the phrase "Social and Universal Growth" around. Economists speculate that the life for a common citizen of the Dual Republic is going to change drasticly in the next four years.

Busy Administration begins progressive transformation of the Dual Republic
President zum Clenonberg dealing with work calls.
The Domestic Front
After the successful formation of the coalition government, the new ministers have been hard at work. At first glance, it was very visible that many of the state agencies and institutions have been restaffing and changing protocols as to eliminate overboarding VVP influence in their fields. According to the presidential chancellory all ministries are now bound to a new presidential directive which obligates them to abide by a strict transparency rule-set, hiring policies have been switched to a more meritocratic systems where recruitment commissioners without party affiliation choose the most fitting candidate for any given opening. Citizens have been providing positive feedback across the board with basically all departments reporting an efficiency boost and reducing their respective backlogs about twenty percent or more.
Minister of Economic Affairs Klaudia Maria Vogt (LB) and Olivia Stauffer (GBB) have jointly announced the economic agenda for the next years. The “Solidarity in Growth” plan shows plans to enact a progressive income tax system which mostly hits high-earners. In addition comes a capital-gains tax and a property tax for multi-house owning individuals. Economists have positively commented on the plans, they’re convinced that they are going to achieve the right goals and targets. While the lower class is also going to have to pay a slightly increased amount in taxes, the funds are going to be used to expand on public healthcare as well as pensions. This marks a drastic shift in policy as social-welfare has basically been a shunned topic under VVP administrations. Experts expect a sharp increased in human development and quality of life for a huge chunk of the population.
The plan is finalized with the planned solution of the food price crisis, the government is going to establish the “Landwirtschaftsverbesserungsfond - LWVF” (luth. Agriculture Betterment Fond). Its purpose is to specifically subsidize small and medium sized domestic farmers who’re struggling to maintain their operations, the goal is to massively expand food production. Ultimately there is supposed to be enough economic development in the primary sector for companies to export domestic product in the Dual Republican trade networks. In tandem with the direct government subsidies, the Clenonberg administration plans to introduce tariffs on food import (where applicable, limited to larger volumes, E.g Zardugal).
On International Affairs
In the publicly available calendar of the president, there was a sudden addition, a visit to the United Kingdom of Lourenne. Apparently zum Clenonberg is set to visit Eroncourt, meet with some high-ranking officials and discuss potential increased involvement with Lourenne. On inquiries the presidential chancellory responded that the president is seeking to increase cooperation with Lourenne and seek assistance for the process of expanding the social institutions in Narikaton & Darnussia as well as work together more closely on humanitarian projects. Questions on a potential “green transformation” plan for the Dual Republic were not answered, it seems unlikely though since the Oil beneficiaries of the nation are already very sceptic towards the DRP-led government.

Two Years of Change
President zum Clenonberg talking to jouranlists in Eroncourt
Dual Republican Greetings from Eroncourt
After coordinating with their lourennese counterparts, the presidential chancellery has set the visit in stone. President Vanessa zum Clenonberg flew to Eroncourt on the Dual Republican presidential aircraft Gold-1, upon landing she was greeted by senior diplomatic officials and driven to the Royal Assembly under the protection of an armed convoy. There she met Royal Minister Rosaline Arnault who, after some symbolic gestures and picture-taking, led her through the magnificently decorated halls of the Assembly, they continued their tour with the next stop being the Chancellery Palace where they were joined by High Chancellor Vivaldi-Vandam. The last stop was the splendid Palace of Oisy. After this media spectacle the three secluded themselves in an unknown office to talk about various topics mainly focussing on lourennese know-how on social institutions and potential increased cooperation in humanitarian efforts.
Domesticly the reception of the visit was largely positive, only hardline conservative forces within the VVP and the TKP were critical of deepened ties to the United Kingdom, most pundits describe the negative statements from the right-wing of the political aisle to be populist rhetorics and fundamental opposition. Obviously prominent politcians of the right-wing rejected this characterization as “left-wing babbling.”
Social Welfare works!
Sebastian Soosmann, Portrait at the University
While we’re at left-wing babbling, we can continue toward the developments in social welfare. The wide-ranging introduction of various unemployment benefits and health-care vouchers have hit the nation. Bigger plans for the implementation of public pensions and universal healthcare are still in the planning stage. But what we can already see are the effects of these measures by looking at the socioeconomic changes in the low-class demographics. According to a new metric developed by Sebastian Soosmann, a prominent figure in the economic sciences community and a professor at the University of Schmierölstadt (Kozaria), we can now measure economic inequality in a nation. The so-called “Soosmann-coefficient” offers a comprehensive look into the equality dynamics of a country and its national economy.
Plantation megaproject
Ministers Stauffer and Vogt have invited us to visit the newly founded city of Nährrode (Kozaria, Darnussia) which is supposed to be the next megaproject of the Dual Republic. The plans for the agricultural-based municipality include mostly social cheap housing for labourers and cheap real-estate for small farmers to start their operations there. Wide – for now – empty fields greet the eye upon entering the borders of the to-be-built city. To increase the attractiveness of the region, the government seek to introduce tax benefits and other subsidies to those that seek to make their mark here. Nährrode is supposed to be the key to solving the food-price-crisis once and for all, the new mega

5566 Elections see Clenonberg strengthened

Clenonberg Election Campaign Poster
For anyone who has been following the political developments in the Dual Republic it appears clear that Vanessa zum Clenonberg (DRP) was going to succeed in her quest to win a second term in office. The renewed presidential mandate appears to be even stronger considering that her party has also managed to make sizable gains in the Nationalrat. Political Analysts count the drastic measures in the food-price crisis, which is seeing a trend towards a positive end, as well as the expansion of the newly established welfare state to be the driving factors of Clenonbergs and the DRP’s dominance in the election. Nonetheless the DRP is still going to need a coalition partner with the support of around ten or eleven percent of the electorate, this results in the DRP being able to leave the third-partner out of the coalition. As it stands, the Landbund does not appear to be a viable option anymore as they have lost a chunk of their voters to the Greens and the Revolutionaries. Election calculations might lead to the greens being large enough in parliament as to evade a motion of no confidence, if not, the DRP might have to face that they’re still going to need a third partner. According to political scene insiders, the most likely consequence is the continuation of the current state of the government as they’ve apparently described the work within the cabinet to be ‘mostly harmonious’ and ‘productive.’

Election Results
On the oppositional side of the political landscape we can see an even further beaten down VVP which has mostly been caused by the exodus of prominent party members to the resurgent Ordnungsfraktion (OF) which is a historicly infamous political party consisting of far-right authoritarians. They’ve been irrelevant for the past decades but are seeing a return to relevancy, attracting almost all of the voters of the Dundorfnational Party and a third of VVP voters. It’s leader is Theodora Lackmann, a enigmatic personality with no publicly known background, on questions regarding her upbringing and the likes Lackmann has reacted with apathy. In response to these losses and a resurgent rival in the same ideological pool, the VVP has called for an internal conference designating former foreign minister Matthijs Sleyster to be party-chairman and presidential candidate for 5570. The notorious hothead has been the most vocal critic of the Clenonberg administration in parliament and is trying to sell the Dual Republican citizens a different vision for the country. They’re strongly against the centralization of bureaucracy in Bannerhafen and the increase in taxes. Sleyster blames Clenonberg for the drastic increase in OF popularity and says “That woman is paving the way for authoritarianism. First taxes and next our freedom!”

Project Nährrode triggers positive feedback loop
Small Portion of a city in the special administrative district
It appears that the Minister Cabinet of the Clenonberg administration is getting a calmer time soon. The Project that was intended to stop the food price crisis has developed into something bigger. While initially "Nährrode" was intended to be one large city, it developed into a more decentalized special administrative district where farmers and agricultural producers have been granted some political perks to increase their influence. The representatives of the governing coalition stated that Nährrode "is going to be the paradise and center of influence for the primary sector of the Dual Republic." These announcements and promises of certain autonomous political rights have made the zone very attractive for investors and those seeking new opportunities instead of the harsh labouring jobs in Red Stad or its suburbs. Many housing projects, social and private have been popping up. The bureaus responsible for the registration of new municipalities have reported a backlog in the region. Another report corresponding to these developments is the internal migration report of the presidential chancellery, which once again shows the influence this project has on Narikaton and Darnussia as a whole. Companies manufacturing specialized equipment for agricultural operations as well as rolling-stock and rail construction are benefting from the hype surrounding Nährrode. Public contracts have led to a boom in construction especially the planned rail-lines to connect the new towns to the wider network. While all agencies report a very positive economic feedback loop as well as the continued decrease in food prices, far-left agitators around the communist Revolutionairen party are not stopping their calls for protests. As far as we can see the people have been slowly pivoting toward the far-left opposition, their talking points are that the Dual Republic isnt able to be saved since capitalism will be its ruin. They want to destroy the Dual Republic from within, at least according to their leader Felix Fromm.

Planned Center of small community plaza in Nährrode
Economic analysts call the Nährrode project the "rebirth of the suburban middle-class" of Narikaton and Darnussia. They say that internal migration flows toward the outer peripheries of the industrial and political epicenters of the nation are going to cause an increase in the spread of property rights in these regions. Meaning that more people will own land and their homes which means that the rich megacorporations are going to lose some of their influence in the new suburban and rural communities. This has also piqued the interest of solar companies which have recently seen another boom by selling panels to Zardugal. (A move that has been denounced by many right-wing politicians.)

Honeymoon's over: Clenonberg faces Opoid Crisis
Clenonberg stressfully heading to the next problem
Clenonberg has been enjoying a relatively stable political landscape when it comes to obstacles she has had to face in addition to fulfilling her agenda. This now appears to change as news about the epidemic spread of the new street-drug "Kalter Truthahn" (Luth. Cold Turkey) is continously hiting the nation. While the administration has been busy with successfully finishing up the food price crisis and trying to spin a positive narrative about the well-looking recently published Gross Domestic Product numbers, they've been struggling with action against this new situation. According to the authorities, the drug is largely unknown and they're still looking into it. There is no known supply route nor is there any specific criminal group associated to it, it almost seems too perfect that everyone suddnely sells this stuff, almost like someone is deliberately spreading Kalter Truthahn.
The VVP and other opposition forces have started to use the persistent far-left protests which have caused unreasonable amounts of property damage and this new drug-situation to paint Clenonberg as a one-hit-wonder. This comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone considering that former Foreign Minister Matthijs Sleyster is preparing for the start of his intense election campaign against the incumbent and still very popular Vanessa zum Clenonberg. Political Pundits are seeing that the situation is returning to a normalized state with largely equal chances for the VVP and the DRP for the next election. "More than two terms, while not illegal, are very damaging for the reputation. It is frowned upon in the political culture of the Dual Republic, even someone as Clenonberg might struggle to manage that. The last presidency that went on for more than two terms was Heleen Bouman, and those were quite different times."
