Henri Des Ambrois to Become Prime Minister, Thanks to PSL-PNP Coalition Agreement
December 5630
Prime Minister-designated Henri Des Ambrois.
TIRALLE - Come January 5631, the National Assembly is expected to elect as Rildanor's President of the Government Dr. Henri Des Ambrois, one of the founding members of the Liberal-Socialist Party, and a former Professor of International Relations at the State University of Tiralle. Des Ambrois will lead a cabinet coalition composed by his party, the majority partner, and the Progressive Nationalist Party, a center-left party which will serve as junior partner.
Under their agreement, the PLS will obtain key ministerial posts, one of which, Finance, will be occupied by Prof. Olivier Brassard, the other member of PLS's founding triumverate. The new government's main task is to facilitate the passage of the new Constitution, and lead a orderly transition from a political regime to another. On policy, the cabinet is expected to push legislation to expand civil liberties and promote the foundation of a welfare state, while on issues such as foreign policy, where their views diverge, the parties did not made any joint commitment.
The Liberal-Socialists and the Progressives will act as a coalition also in regards of the upcoming second round of the Presidential election, where PSL's Sylvie Aimard-Bélanger is facing a center-right challenge from the People's Party leader Nicholas Souchon, after a very exciting and very close first round.

THE PRESIDENTIAL RUN-OFF: PP SURPRISINGLY ADVANCES TO RUN-OFF AGAINST CENTRE-LEFT CANDIDATE
DECEMBER, 5730
@LeRildanorien
The newly formed Parti Populaire, led by presidential candidate Nicolas Souchon, has secured a spot in the upcoming presidential runoff election. Defying all mainstream projections, Souchon captured 31.2% of the popular vote in the first round, finishing a mere fraction of a percentage point behind the centre-left candidate, Sylvie Aimard-Bélanger of the Parti Libéral-Socialiste, who captured 31,9% of the vote.
While the Parti Populaire’s rapid rise left it with a modest 6.6% in the parallel legislative elections due to a lack of entrenched local machinery, the presidential results have proven that Souchon’s centre-right, common-sense platform has deeply resonated with a public weary of institutional stagnation. Aimard-Bélangers platform featured centre-left economic policies combined with social libertarian ideas.
The political left has reacted to Souchon's breakthrough. The Parti National Progressiste (PNP) and the Parti Libre Rildanor (PLR), among other minor parties, have officially endorsed the centre-left PLS candidate.
Souchon, who enters the runoff with endorsements from the Fraternité Nationale and the Rassemblement orthodoxe de Rildanor, quickly condemned the agreement.
However, this might not be enough. Internal polling shows following results:
Aimard-Bélanger (PLS): 60%
Souchon (PP): 40%
With exactly two months remaining before voters return to the polls, the Souchon campaign is actively targeting moderate, fiscally conservative PNP and PLR voters, to catch up the polling gap.

PNP Celebrates Election Results with Cautious Optimism
[January, 5731]
@LeRildanorien
The Parti National Progressiste (PNP) is cautiously celebrating the results of the 5730 general election, which saw the party secure 13 seats in the National Assembly and receive just over one million votes nationwide. While the result places the party far behind the Parti Libéral-Socialiste (PLS), which earned more than four million votes, PNP leaders view the election as an encouraging first step for the young political movement.
"It is difficult for a new political movement like ours to gain recognition from the people in its very first election," said Thomas Boquet, president of the party and newly appointed Minister of Defence. "We have to remember that our movement started from nothing. In that context, these results are quite impressive."
The party was quick to agree to join a governing coalition with the Parti Libéral-Socialiste, securing five ministerial positions in the new cabinet. Boquet defended the decision, emphasizing the shared goals of the coalition partners.
"As the two largest political forces in Rildanor, the PLS and the PNP have received a clear mandate to govern our nation and deliver much-needed reforms," he said. "We may not agree on everything, but we share a vision for restoring Rildanor to its former glory. Our ministers have already introduced two important pieces of legislation, PNP-1 and PNP-2, and citizens can expect many more necessary reforms from our caucus over the next four years."
(Boquet, newly apointed minister of Defence)
The party also found reason for optimism in the presidential election. Its candidate, Guillaume Mayer, now serving as Minister of Science and Technology, received nearly three million votes and finished in third place. Mayer posted particularly strong results in several territories, including Meroix, where he finished a close second behind Nicolas Souchon.
Following his elimination from the race, Mayer and the PNP quickly endorsed the candidacy of their coalition partner, Sylvie Aimard-Bélanger.
"Aimard-Bélanger would make an excellent president," Mayer declared. "She is far better suited for the office than Souchon, whose party has consistently attacked the working class and shown little concern for those in need. I encourage every Rildanorian who voted for me to support Aimard-Bélanger in the second round."

Boquet take steps to prevent futur civil war
[March, 5731]
@LeRildanorien
The Minister of Defence, Thomas Boquet, announced today his intention to introduce a bill before the National Assembly that would outlaw paramilitary organizations throughout Rildanor. The minister justified the proposal as a necessary measure to preserve public order, safeguard national unity, and prevent the re-emergence of internal conflict.
Quote:Paramilitary organizations undermine public order, threaten political stability, and create the conditions for violence and intimidation.
Seventy years ago, our nation was torn apart by a brutal civil war between Meriath and mainland Rildanor. That conflict remains within living memory. Thousands of citizens were forced to take up arms against their fellow countrymen in a tragic and fratricidal struggle.
After extensive consultations with President Sylvie Aimard-Bélanger and Prime Minister Henri Des Ambrois, both of whom have given their full support to this initiative, the government has concluded that action can no longer be delayed.
It is with the determination to prevent such self-destructive bloodshed from ever occurring again that I ask the National Assembly to grant the government the authority to act against any paramilitary organization that may emerge.
Rildanor has only one army. Any organization that challenges that principle represents a potential threat to our unity and civil order. Any group that acts like a military force, trains like a military force, or presents itself as a military force must be stopped before it can endanger our democracy and our peace.
-Thomas Boquet, Minister of Defence
According to the government, the proposed legislation would prohibit the formation, training, funding, and operation of private armed groups while granting law enforcement agencies additional powers to dismantle organizations deemed to be acting as paramilitary forces.

Vasseur Confirms Government's Plan to Ban Paramilitaries
April 5731
Interior Minister Margaux Vasseur (PLS)
TIRALLE - The Interior Minister, Margaux Vasseur, confirmed that the Government is taking steps towards the elimination of paramilitaries, calling them 'a fundamental threat to the integrity of the nation'. The draft bill, created and sponsored by the Defence minister, is currently sitting in debate in a parliamentary committee, and is expected to be put to vote in the next months, PLS's parliamentary leader Étienne Rocheteau said. If passed by the Provisional National Assembly, the act would ban the creation, operations, financing, recruitment of a paramilitary organization, allowing the Republic to 'intervene freely' to stop them.
Minister Vasseur, when pressed if the Government will wait until the One Army Act is passed before calling early elections: "it is the intention of this government to lead the country to new elections to be held under the new constitution and under the new basic laws that will strengthen the rule of law in Rildanor. The 'One Army Act' is part of those basic laws." She has also added that she 'regrets' the FN being opposed to the Act, hoping that they "will change idea for the good of the Republic".

UFR JOINING GOVERNING COALITION
L’EXAMINATEUR HERAUT
Assemblee nationale de la Republique, August 27, 5731: Madeleine Fouquet, Treasurer of Union Federale Radicale (UFR), was asked by L’Examinateur Heraut what the thinking was of UFR in joining the proposed governing coalition and the Mouvement Progressiste pour Rildanor (MPR). Fouquet responded:
Quote:The UFR was formed to protect the safety net which includes keeping the government and the economy functioning. Simply put we feel we can further those goals better by being a cooperative partner in the government rather than as an outsider.
The Constitution is still being formed and we do support the MPR leadership in this regard including adding some civil rights guarantees into the Constitution itself.
We have reason to believe our participation in the MPR can continue since our differences to date seem comparatively minor. With that said, of course we can not predict the future with absolute certainty.
That job is for stockbrokers and used car salespersons.

FN celebrates serious gains in the National Assembly
August 5731
There is a jubilant mood in the headquarters of the Fraternité Nationale (Luth.: National Brotherhood) on Rememberance Street in Tirale, and for understandable reasons, in this month's election to the National Assembly, the party has made major gains, becoming the 4th largest represented party, beating even the far-left Parti des Travailleurs de Rildanor (Luth.: Workers' Party of Rildanor), which was ahead in the polls since March 5730. The FN notably outdid its own performance in the polls, gaining 11,8% of the vote, 5.5 pp more than the 6,3% predicted in June. The early elections were called by the Des Ambrois government to fulfill their promise of new elections under the recently passed constitution.
As the victorious Parti Libéral-Socialiste (Luth.: Liberal-Socialist Party) engages in government negotiations with the Parti National Progressiste (Luth.: National Progressive Party), the Union Federale Radicale (Luth.: Federal Radical Union), and the Parti Libre Rildanor (Luth.: Rildanor Free Party), it seems probable that it will be the largest party in opposition and thus the leader of the opposition to the second Des Ambrois government.
This unexpected victory has only cemented the already dominant position of party president Noé Plantier, leader of the FN since December 5730. Using this new momentum, Plantier has outlined his vision for the future of the party. He has appointed the most influential woman in the party, Marie-Christine Ange, as the leader of the new women's wing of the party, Organisation des Femmes Actives (Luth.: Organization of Active Women). Along with the new women's wing, Jeunesse Patriotique (Luth.: Patriotic Youth) will be established as the youth wing of the party.
Plantiér has presented not only his internal vision of the party but also a new plan for the future trajectory of the party. Since the move to the economic left has clearly benefited FN, the party will continue on that path while maintaining its stances in most other areas. Plantiér has also announced that the FN will field a candidate in the next presidential election, the current party vice president Thibaut Vallotton. Plantiér has ruled out his candidacy due to his status as a priest of the Aurorian Church.

FN expands as membership sourges
September 5731
It seems like the jubilant mood that has ruled the headquarters of Fraternité Nationale (Luth.: National Brotherhood) on Remembrance Street in Tiralle since August won't be ending soon, as the party reports a membership surge. According to the media spokesperson of the party, there are now 90 thousand registered members of the party, a significant increase from a mere 6 thousand in December of 5730, and rivaling the 100 thousand members of Parti Libéral-Socialiste (Luth.: Liberal-Socialist Party).
To accommodate the new members and to continue the expansion, the party leader Noé Plantier has announced that in addition to the women's and youth wings established in August, a new student wing, Confédération Nationale des Étudiants Patriotes de Rildanor (Luth.: National Confederation of Patriotic Students of Rildanor), and a think tank, Institut pour la Politique Nationale (Luth.: Insititute for National Policy), as well as a rebranding of the old party newspaper into the new La Nouvelle Ère (Luth.: The New Era).
Other than the membership surge, Fraternité Nationale has another reason to celebrate, though this time it is not purely positive. As the PLS, the Parti National Progressiste (Luth.: National Progressive Party), the Union Federale Radicale (Luth.: Radical Federal Union), and the Parti Libre Rildanor (Luth.: Rildanor Free Party) have agreed to form a government under Henri Des Ambrois, the FN has become the largest party in opposition, and thus its leader, Noé Plantier, is the new leader of the opposition. Plantier hasn't given much detail about FN's role in opposition other than claiming FN will oppose any measures of the government it sees as contrary to the wishes or well-being of the Rildanorian people.

SMALL IS BEAUTIFULL BUT IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH
Party Leader Grandament explaining PLR's election strategy to critical partymembers outside the congress hall.
TIRALLE - October 5731 - From our own correspondent.
During the annual party congress, a critical group of partymembers challenged the PLR leadership about the election results. According to spokesman Francois Trudoser of the group nothing has been learned from the disappointing August 5731 election results and the polls are not very hopeful either. The group suggested strategy change where PLR's agenda should appeal to a larger share of the electorate. For ezample they suggested to restrict immigrants to enter our nation and to be more supportive to labour unions. There we mixed reaction form the attended public. The general feeling was that the group represented a rather small share of partymembers, On the other hand congress members felt that something should be done. Partyleader Pauline Grandament and Partychairman Laurant Mouron underlined that the leaderschip analysed the results and concluded that is was just to early to alter the party's platform. "Recently, we had 2 elections within months and the PLR need more time to make our agenda clear to the general public", Grandament stated. It cannot be ignored that congressmember were, to say the least, not impressed by that answer. Now the party joined the Cabinet led by Des Ambrois and a sharper profile is expected. The leadership has to deliver better results next time.

TSR EXPECTED TO BE HELP IN REVIVING TRADE ABROAD
L’EXAMINATEUR HERAUT
Ministry of Trade and Industry, November 27, 5731: Jean-Claude Beauvoisin, Minister of Trade and Industry, was asked by L’Examinateur Heraut where would his Ministry first look to revive international trade, and Beauvoisin responded:
Quote:Seleya. And specifically Mordusia and Kanjor. Why? The Trans Seleyan Railroad (TSR).
In 5581 Rildanor received financial, engineering, track laying and technical assistance to complete the portion of the TSR running from Kanjor through Rildanor into Mordusia. Much of the actual track laying was done by the Torges – Kanjo Ligne Ferroviare (TKLF) which built the connection through Kanjor’s Numineux Province of Kanjo to the Capital of Alduria.
We believe trade where we are already connected by rail is a very good place to start.
