Bronislav Sládek greeted president Elliot of Likatonia personally after disembarking in Kundrati early this week, first of the four nations joining the Kundrati summit. Soon to be expected are delegates and heads of state from the nations of Xsampa, Dundorf, and has expected the dual republics attendance who were unable suddenly to attend. The meeting is in the hopes of establishing greater relations and seeking new economic avenues after many banking institutions and businesses proved themselves traitors by fleeing the country, taking with it billions in monies and leaving thousands jobless and on state subsidies. Sládek had the honor guard of the nations forces parade in formation for each plane landed.

As the Kundrati Legion moves to push an Emergency Act, the Supreme Court and the Armed Forces make their response clear

The National Legislature has voted 260-190 in favor of an act to declare a State of Siege, which requires communication with the Supreme Court to allow the siege to pass. A state of siege enables the Kundrati government to, in effect, declare martial law and suspend habeas corpus. The reasoning for why the President, Bronislav Sládek, declared a state of siege is unknown; however, recent moves by Kalistan could be the reason for such a push. Such a state of siege has only been declared once: during and after the Hubris War when Kundrati was threatened with invasion. We asked President Sladek why he declared a state of siege; however, we have received no response.

However, the Kundrati Armed Forces and the Supreme Court of Kundrati have clarified that they are against the move. In a statement, Admiral Johan Milusevik of the Kundrati Navy commented:

We believe in democracy and the rule of law. We reject this push to declare a state of siege as no threat to Kundrati would warrant such an action. I urge the Government to tone their rhetoric and be more relaxed with the red buttons. We are also talking with our counterparts about doing the same. I speak on behalf of the Army and the Air Force also, whose counterparts have expressed to me their concern as well.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Kundrati also commented the following to the Kasaema Guardian:

I spoke to the President on how the current situation was inadvisable for a state of siege, and I've held a vote with my fellow justices, and we all voted in a majority against the motion.

The Kundrati public has taken the news surprisingly well, with few reactions outside of the liberal and KPP-aligned camp, which has condemned the move and begun to protest the Government's actions. While these protests are small and low-scale, the social media atmosphere in Kundrati is tense, and lawmakers throughout the country have shared the view that the declaration is nothing more than a power grab.

What the future of this crisis may hold remains to be seen. The 260-190 vote is not, in fact, the two-thirds majority required for such a declaration, so as of now, political pundits are wondering if the president made a blunder and why the KL would do such a thing, knowing they lacked the two-thirds majority.

Massive protests erupt over the rule of the Kundrati Legion; police crack down and kill eight

The Kundrati Union has never seen this much anger over politics, at least in this variation of the Union.

Calls to action, led by Tiberius Claudius Aroain, led to millions showing up yesterday in the streets of Kundrati to protest the rule of the Legion. So far, this has led to major companies bailing out for other countries, foreign and national citizens alike heading for neighborly countries, and Kundrati's international standing in freefall. The calls to action are meant to try and pressure the Legion to calm down.

The people have responded accordingly. Millions were seen throughout the streets as mentioned earlier, with higher numbers in Jildrat(h)i City, Aethansk, Leuansk, Riecny Brod, Tomasadyn, and Venora, with the most people, around a million per protestor statements, in the capital itself. And it was there where things didn't end well.

As a million people crowded National Street along the majority of its length, there were calls for the KL to roll back their laws regarding porn, the judicial system, and other various laws. One law, in particular, will remove the ability of women to serve in the Armed Forces; another law will allow torture to be legalized for any reason and even a law that will censor the media regarding the government. The highest ranking woman in the Kundrati Armed Forces, the Admiral of the Carrier Fleet Calpurnia Lorenzi Čiliaková, spoke out and said that she would instead serve her country through death and honor than as a housewife all day.

Former President Alan Bienennueva also spoke in the rally, calling for Kundratis to reject the Legionaire rule, vote in the next election for the Kundrati People's Party, and deny current President Bronislav Sladek a mandate. He said that the current government is nothing more than highway robbers who only destroy what they touch and that with KL rule, a rise of anti-Kundrati and anti-Delic racism has already risen, with people thinking it is ok to be cruel to others now. The crowd especially cheered when he said on his first day, he would roll back everything the KL did.

We asked for a response from the Kundrati Legion over these protests. While we could not get the President to comment, citing the ongoing summits with other countries, the Minister for Internal Affairs Denis Komárek commented:

These protests are a sham propagated by Kalistan and Zardugal, other nations who want us to fail. This was a democratic transfer of power from one party to another, and it was clear the people saw us best when they voted for us and we will deliver. We trust that the police, the army, and our loyal services will treat these protestors well.

After hours of speaking, and suddenly, helicopters were in the sky as the day got darker. Flares were fired as police cordoned off various streets as there was fighting in the crowd. Kasaema Police moved in and, in a scene making the rounds through the Kundrati social media services, beating up numerous protestors and dragging their bloodied bodies through the streets to a waiting police van. Numerous scenes like this were repeated through National Street as police rushed through the crowd. There were other reports of other masked individuals, believed to be a part of the paramilitary of the Kundrati Legion, joining the police and beating up other protestors, sometimes severely. Tear gas was thrown soon after as some of the protestors decided to fight back against the Legionnaires and the police. However, most of them were arrested and mostly beaten and bruised themselves.

So many tear gas canisters were fired, and so much blood on the streets that one person described it as a cake with blood on the bottom and gas on the top. According to the protestors, eight people died, and another 68 were injured. Hundreds of thousands more were crushed up against the other side of the street, causing more crush-related injuries, although they overwhelmed the police stationed on those streets and managed to get away from the chaos.

As blood is spilled in the capital, there are fears that such violence will continue.

ArtSat, Tomasadyn National, and Etxea Bank, among various Kundrati companies to seek foreign shores

Extea Bank, Tomasadyn National, and ArtSat have begun to see foreign countries as a way out of the current Kundrati political crisis. A new party known for its extremist rhetoric has begun to make waves in our country by winning the general election. These companies represent the biggest companies in Kundrati that have expressed their interest in leaving, and so far, at least three have succeeded.

Let's start with ArtSat. Key shareholders moved to Kalistan at the first opportunity and, since then, have spoken with Kalistani representatives about integrating ArtSat into Kalistan and making it a Kalistani company. After 24-hour negotiations that took weeks, the contract would be finalized. Miramar Holdings of Kalistan would buy ArtSat, giving it 51% of the shares and thus control of the company, however, with two main conditions: that this would last only for the duration of the Kundrati Legion government and that nobody would lose their jobs unless they broke Kalistani laws. The contract was agreed upon, and as of this morning, Artanian Satellite has a new owner. The hope is that ArtSat will soon be welcomed back to Spencer, and Spencer will become the primary facility while they move operations from the Northern Cosmodrome. However, this may take a while, as ArtSat lost key personnel regarding the maintenance and launching of rockets, although Kalistan personnel can help there. A new global headquarters is already being built to accommodate ArtSat, while Miramar has said that it will allow ArtSat to run its operations with its own employees.

With regards to Etxea Bank and Tomasadyn National, their transition was different and more smooth. Though they also lost key personnel, mainly in the maintenance of customer accounts and investments in Artania and Seleya, they were welcomed in Mordusia, where the nation would be the global headquarters of the two companies due to the unrest going on regarding the KL. Top-ranking personnel have also headed for Mordusia with hopes to move there alongside plans to expand operations in Mordusia, open bank branches there, and treat Mordusia as a second home. From there, they hope to grow to other Seleyan nations without fear of nationalization or property being seized.

However, one major company that did not make it into this group was Kundrati Defense Contractors. This morning, after a tip-off by an unknown person working with the company, police nationwide seized most of KDC's assets, including warehouses, factories, and their headquarters in Kasaema. Higher-ranking individuals within KDC were also arrested, and it was announced that KDC would now be owned by the Kundrati Legion, most likely to arm their paramilitary and keep the military out of the latest high-tech gear the KDC was working on. This also may affect the ongoing project to build Zardugal's navy and revitalize Kundrati's navy, which KDC and their Zardic counterparts were doing; this remains to be seen.

President Sládek gives statement on Zardugal fled ships, Zards in custody

After the seizure of Farmakon-Z during its attempt to illegally flee the country 20 or so Zards, prior workers in the facility have been indefinitely interned in the country given their complacency in a scheme to abscond the nation, a similar incident occurring in the ports at Zardugal in which cooperatively made ships were able to escape the clutches of the rogue Zard governments theft. President Sládek stated this morning,

"Out of the ships we paid for in port only a third got out, I fully expect the Zardugal government to hand over those ships, until then the 20 that are in our custody may be in for a long wait. How long? Thats up to Gropo to decide, unfortunately he wishes to gamble their freedom away for prepaid vessels, failing to meet his obligations at their expense."

Speculators predict Farmakon-Z will be given to the highest bidder in future negotiations, or repurposed into a large pharma government agency, much of the knowledge of the facility and its operations was lost during the flight of hundreds of its workers. Whether or not any of the 20 in custody are actual specialists is unknown, though its expected to be answered soon enough in K.I Prison #9-2B in the capital."

President Sládek announces grand police and law overhaul, new branch of the police.

Today President Bronislav Sládek gave an announcement about a huge police reform program offering massive new benefits to current and future police officers. An increase in salary by 30%, new benefits of insurance and political immunities, better retirement programs and social security, and many others. Public response from the police was extremely positive, many took to the streets in rallies of support with signs that read, "Bronislav cares!", "Up with Sládek!", "Death to traitors!". Currently the police population in the nation is roughly 50,000 on duty officers nationwide, many now forming in the ranks behind the KL.

The Kundrati Legion has with government funding, done a wide campaign of recruiting, reception was lukewarm for the new paramilitary ranks of the Legionary Guard, with a showing of 13,000 new recruits. These new men along with 16,000 police officers handpicked by the KL will form a brand new 3rd branch of the police, and exciting proposition made by Sládek himself.

This new 3rd branch of the police forms a new Political Police under command the KL but with greater authority than the police and army, equal with the FIS in power, combining both investigative and boots on the ground capabilities. These new political police are to be called "The Legionary Commissariat" or LG's, the commissars will be in charge of labor camp function, ensuring loyalty in the police and army, and protecting the internal security of the state. 30,000 recruits are going through training and expected to take active duty within 6 months.

Finally, a small parade was held in the capital saluted by the President himself, as select columns from the 10,000 elite Legionary Guard, recently armed with prior KDC made weaponry and trained by specialists, marched with members of the some of the new Legionary Commissars in Kasaema early this morning.

President Sládek announces labor reform, new camps

Today President Bronislav Sládek gave a speech highlighting his plans unveiling the new KL lead economic reform plan, in it Sládek described what he called using reform through labor, establishing the new Patriotic Labor Brigades or PLB's. Each of these brigades numbering 500-1000 men and women would be made of prisoners and interns deemed criminals through unpatriotic action seeking to weaken the state, Sládek spoke to a crowed stating,

"Millions of traitors have taken to our streets threatening reprisals, destroying property, assaulting officers. Out of these we plan to incarcerate the worst offenders, our optimistic predictions with my ministers estimate we hope in the next year to have around 500,000 in our new labor camps titled "Legionary Revival Camps" as they are meant to both discipline the unruly and revive the spirit of patriotism through labor. With their blood, sweat, and tears they will help make our nation the greatest in the world. This will help us circumvent the economic ramifications of many expats trying to flee our democracy, already we have many foreigners who attempted to flee the nation awaiting processing into the camps, perhaps in the range of 10,000 or more. We do not need foreign businesses to grab hold of our own destiny, though I believe in the free market I too know that when enemy nations seek to undermine us, we must not be afraid to take the reigns."

With this new labor camps, if able to accumulate the 500,000 new PLB convicts predicted, Sládek announced he would begin construction of massive new industries to become a more self sufficient state and achieve autarky. New mines, steel mills, industrialized farms, arms factories, and the beginnings of future military programs.

Minister of industry Karneades Arbolategui stated, "The PLBs will be instrumental in helping construct the new facilities we need in record pace, as well as padding out the losses in manpower in nationwide industrial production, with 14-16 hour shifts supplemented by medicinal energy boosting substances like caffeine pills and more, we'll be able to recuperate our losses very quickly, I applaud the presidents unrelenting drive and intelligence in the matter."

Kundrati establishes military alliance with Likatonia, announces economic pact

Today President Bronislav Sládek addressed the public press announcing a new Likatonian-Kundrati alliance in military affairs, as well as a range of new economic initiatives.

"I have had great pleasure working with Likatonia who has been very accommodating to our struggles, It is with happiness and resolve we announce the transfer of Farmakon-Z to Likatonia, who will populate the facility with their specialists and fund its operations in return for radiochems made for Kundratis and the excess exported. Futhermore, we will be selling our new Uranium excess to Likatonia at a discount after our new embargo against Zardugal who will no longer receive any from us due to their treasonous behavior. Lastly, Likatonia has begun multiple construction projects especially of infrastructure, we will be renting them 150,000 PLB's from the labor camps to aid the efforts."

Armed Forces of Kundrati provides damning statement as hundreds of thousands attempt to flee without success

Reports over the last two years have emerged that Kundratis and foreigners living in Kundrati have attempted, without success, to head to Dundorf or to other nations intending to escape from the current government of the Kundrati Legion, which has recently begun to construct labor camps among many other measures that have made Kundrati an international pariah.

Over the last two years, according to the University of Kundrati in Papoc, around 788,423 people have attempted to flee either by heading to the border with Dundorf, which is no longer an open border due to measures by both governments, or trying to board one-way flights to Kalistan or Zardugal or other places far away from Kundrati's grasp. However, according to the University and according to sources within the Interior Ministry, the vast majority have been captured and have been taken to labor camps throughout the country, to the point where only a few tens of thousands have managed to make it out of the country with their lives. This is not to mention hundreds of thousands more searching up, among other terms, "how to get Dundorfian citizenship" and "rents in Dunburg."

That was within the last two years. Now that the Kundrati Legion has explicitly mentioned that labor camps existed and that there was a supply of laborers, presumably those who tried to get away, in a post regarding a military alliance with Likatonia, reactions from the world have been almost universally adverse from the freezing of relations to complete embargoes from Dundorf to Kalistan and from Lodamun to Kanjor. As for the internal reaction, there is fear and anger.

The internal reaction has been full of fear and anger because of the open display of violence and cruelty expressed by the Kundrati Legion and their paramilitaries with the full backing of the Kundrati Defense Contractors, now wholly owned by the Kundrati Legion as part of the Government. The hope is that next year's election, the opposition, headed by the National Coalition party, will win. However, they have kept silent as dissent has been discouraged publicly, implying that you would end up in a labor squadron if you spoke out against the Legion. Though such measures have not hit our newspaper, we fear that our day in the sun, like Icarus, will come soon enough.

However, one force has been relatively angered about the ongoing situation—the armed forces. In two statements, the Armed Forces of Kundrati (AFK) have made clear their opposition to the continuing government and that their current course is only leading to the destruction of the Kundrati nation. The following was the statement by the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of Kundrati, General Olympio Tremorinus Alcazar.

We believe in democracy and the rule of law. We have proudly served the Kundrati Union since founding a Kundrati nation four millennia ago. Yet today, we are ashamed to serve a country led by a government that disrespects everything Kundrati stands for. The current government is nothing more than an Ordosocialist plant that seeks to destroy the Kundrati race and the nation that we have all worked hard to build. And so the Armed Forces of Kundrati make our position clear that the current Government must cease this banditry and this madness immediately and restore our honor and dignity, which has been soundly trifled.

The Armed Forces of Kundrati spokesperson provided another statement, mentioning that the soldiers have an oath-bound duty to reject illegal and ill-intentioned orders and that the Armed Forces reserves the right to save the Kundrati nation from saboteurs, including the right to refuse to fight if the order came from an illegal and ill-intentioned order.

President Sládek declares martial law after approval

After Kalistani privateers funded by the Empress herself were intercepted and sunk by the Kundrati navy, the president was able to put to a vote and approve temporary martial law until the military situation is handled. Curfews are in effect and trials suspended, violators of these rules and others not stated are liable to indefinite detention or work detail for a period of up to 5 years in LGB duty. The president urges calm and has mobilized the police and called up national guard reservists for duty, news will be relayed via government programs and citizens informed when martial law is retracted.
