Dodo bird on the menu or not?

Federal Government, Parliament and States clash on animal protection

Randworth - For the first time in a long while the Federal Government, Federal Parliament and the State Governments of Voisain and Colliwick have clashed with one another over a controversial bill regarding the protection and preservation of protected animals in Mordusia as well as expanding those protections to more animals. At the moment it seems to be grinding down to a stand still with no resolution in sight.
 
As most know the Dodo bird was revived in Mordusia in 4383, the bird originally was thought to be dead but was found alive in one of the forests in Voisain. Later scientists believe the great mystery bird, long thought dead came from Colliwick and migrated south. Afterwards the preservation of these animals began. They were bred by a corporation and set up Dodosland. It lasted for years, but began to financially decline due to mismanagement. Dodo birds even escaped this park due to neglect and slowly began repopulating the area.
 
At first this repopulation caused a shift in the ecosystem, which wasn’t used to these birds. The local governments stepped in and went on to prevent their spread, even giving out hunting permits and selling the meat from the birds. Sadly this overzealous reaction caused the bird to greatly diminish again, coming on the brink of a second extinction event. Luckily the local governments jumped into action and prevented the extinction by creating a special controlled habitat and a piece of the forest in Voisain. Here the Dodo birds could expand freely.
 
Now of the course of the years the bird has multiplied rapidly and has bounced back, even returning to the wild in some cases, being kept in various zoo’s and wild life reserves. Some might even say they are becoming a pest. Especially politicians from some parties allied with the National Party and rarely some of the Reform Party had called for hunting these animals and allowing their meat to be sold and consumed. State representative Henri Le Clair said that the ‘’bird can be a delicacy like the Kangaroo and make Mordusia a more appealing nation to visit, much like the other tropical and fantastic creatures we have in our nation’’. However in Voisain he is the minority as most of the Voisain regional party ‘Voisain Bloc’ opposes this and wish for the bird to remain protected.
 
Nationally the National Party is divided in the Federal Parliament, this became even more apparent when the Federal Government caught wind of the whole discussion and wished to intervene and force the withdrawal of the protected status of the bird. Something that doesn’t sit well with a sizable amount of National and Reform representatives in the Federal Parliament. Even the Colliwick State Government is furious, they too had this issue on their agenda and though they are more open to it, think that the Federal Government should keep out of it.
 
The discussion in the various parliaments even spilled over in talks about protecting other creatures such as the Kangaroo, but lobbies from Kangaroo Burger and especially big finance have called on the various legislatures to keep the discussions of off the Kangaroo, which seems to be working for now.

Randworth - For some time now, the government has voiced growing concerns about the increasing instability and deteriorating global situation. Peace, once a cornerstone of international relations, seems to have been abandoned by world leaders. The recent destruction of the Xsampan capital, a bloody civil war in Likatonia, and escalating tensions worldwide have culminated in tragedy striking closer to home.

In a devastating attack, Aldurian terrorists targeted several key buildings, civic centers, and business hubs in an attempt to undermine the Commonwealth’s stance on the troubling situation in the now fascist and corporatist-led Aldurian state. The coordinated assault resulted in hundreds of casualties, leaving countless dead, injured, and grieving. Last night, Aldurian insurgents launched strikes across New Orange and Trelodge, with Port Alexander, Westmooring, Rechtenburg, and Woodranton among the hardest hit. Vital infrastructure, including sections of the Trans-Seleyan Railway, sustained significant damage.

The most grievous blow came with the assassination of Sir William Becker, the Governor-General of the Commonwealth. His Excellency was in Rechtenburg meeting with the Lieutenant-Governor of New Orange to discuss regional concerns when a bomb exploded, killing him instantly. The nation mourns the loss of a leader who embodied stability and dedication.
In response to this heinous act, Prime Minister Sir Henry Wallace convened an emergency cabinet meeting. Present were George Brown, Minister of Defense; Stephen McAllester, Minister of the Interior; and Margaret Hacker, Minister of Justice. An urgent message was dispatched to Orange Palace in Luthori, informing Her Majesty Queen Katherine (Empress Katherine in Luthori) of the situation and requesting the appointment of a new Governor-General. Reports indicate that the government has proposed the reappointment of 52-year-old Prince Louis of Orange-Villayn-Armstead, Duke of Stewart and Malbury, Prince of Luthori and Mordusia, and Count of Rechtenburg.

Prince Louis has been seen visiting affected sites, rallying civilians to assist emergency services and military personnel in rescue efforts. His presence highlights his potential as a unifying and capable leader during this crisis. Yet, as survivors are pulled from the rubble, the rising death toll weighs heavily on the nation.

These cowardly attacks, driven by pride, jealousy, and hatred, were orchestrated by agents of the Aldurian government to intimidate us into silence. But let me be clear: we will not falter. We will stand firm against this menace. They will rue the day they underestimated our resolve. We will inform Parliament, consult Her Majesty, and respond decisively. Where the Canrille Empire allowed such evil to fester, we shall not.”

Commonwealth declares WAR on Alduria

To free Alduria from the junta!

Randworth - With no apology and no remorse from the Algerian junta, the government feels that there is no other view on the terror attacks than an act of war upon Her Majesty's realm. So began the declaration the Office of Prime Minister published this morning. It came after weeks of mobilisation, Uncertainty and loss. 
 
It was always in the air, but after this afternoon it became evermore clear. His Highness Prince Louis. As re-appointed as Governor General of the Commonwealth. Published a declaration in the name of Her Majesty the Queen. Summer Queen herself. The declaration read that there Existed a state of war between the Commonwealth and the Algerian junta. 
 
In the broadcast by the new Prime Minister, George Lloyd. The Prime Minister said the following words on the matter in his speech which was broadcast to all of the nation: ‘’My fellow Mordusians, the terror inflicted upon our people, our Commonwealth and on the Aldurian people themselves are horrible. No words can be found to describe the immense loss and pain we have all endured. This fascist gang. Has caused untold misery and loss not upon only us but also on our neighbours. We cannot allow these monsters to seat their government. We cannot stand by and watch. That is why we have asked Her Majesty to declare a state of war exists between our two nations. It is the policy of a nation to wage war. To wage war for the liberation of those poor souls, to find retribution against those who have wronged us and to defend our Commonwealth. We will not flag nor fail. We will restore common sense government to our neighbours. We will restore orange sensibility. To these. Poor souls. Our Algerian brethren. Look to us for aid, for protection. That is why we must ask of our brave souls, our brave man. To make a sacrifice no one wants to ask of them. But if we don't, more will be hurt on our side. We will fight with allies until in God's good time the Junta sees fit to surrender this hopeless war they have caused! I also want to express our love and loyalty to the Empire, who with all its power and might stands up to aid her daughter in this struggle, it proves that the Luthorian Commonwealth is strong and united! God save the Queen. God save the Commonwealth.’’
 
So a condition has come over us which we haven’t had in centuries, a war for our existance, a war against terror and fascism. All across the nation a general draft has been announced. With already existing soldiers and reservists being called up and moved to the front line. Its clear the invasion of the Aldurian state will soon commence. The ministry of defence has put a gag order on all military movements, plans and communications. We will report to you as much as we can when we know it.
 
From what we do know is that the current government is formed under the new War ministry of George Lloyd, a former prominent neoconservative warhawk of the National Party. He is known as a fierce royalist and believer of intervention and the Aldurian-Mordusian special relationship, something he calls the ‘’Orange relationship’’. When often asked for a definition of this he refused to give one. Today in his speech he mentioned something similar again without giving comment on the meaning of it. What is clear is that the current situation has caused the political climate to turn from the cautious behaviour of the previous prime-minister to the more radical and hardline neoconservative one of Mr. Lloyd. To demonstrate his resolve the airforce has launched successful airstrikes along the Aldurian border, as was released by the Royal Airforce a few moments before.

Update on the intervention in Alduria

Randworth - Silence has been the policy of the War cabinet for the last months as the invasion of Alduria began. The idea was to keep operational secrecy and leak as little as possible information to the enemy. Though sources in the defense department leaked some information, the reports have been scarce. Yesterday, we finally gained the first details on the war effort from the Royal Army and the Defense Ministry about the conflict between the allied powers against the fascist terrorist junta that holds Alduria in its grasp.
 
In the data released the Royal Armed forces struck the Aldurian border regions, especially targeting defensive infrastructure, military complexes and strategic non-civilian targets with artillery shelling and bombing and air raids by the Royal Airforce. There attacks were met with little resistance and brought forth relatively good results, which according to the documents was unexpected and bolstered thoughts of strategic success and relatively easy winnings. This resulted in a hastened attack across the entire border with a combination of mechanised assaults supported by infantry movements.
 
At first the border region in Nouvelle Orange were easily captured, with Aldurian forces loyal to government being caught by Aldurians who side with the Royal Army or by Junta forces retreating towards more defensible positions. Though more losses came back than expected on our side, the military analysts point out that the lack of military engagements over the years and the only in the recent decades upgraded military cannot be expected to fight without making errors and learning on the move. Which is showable from the data that was brought back.
 
In the next weeks the military quickly began to advance taking large parts of territory at once, only finding itself halted and unable to break through thanks to a combination of stiff resistance, logistical and tactical errors made by the army. This included communication errors, wrong information usage by ground forces and overconfidence. Aldurian forces managed to attack key infrastructure and hinder Mordusian forces to invade successfully further into the nation, causing quite the number of casualties. The defense ministry has said that these were valuable lessons and that it will do everything to learn better from it. General Blake Smith said that ‘we have learned much of our foes these last few weeks and were still sure of a swift victory’.

However sources from within the war ministry are less optimistic, as already signs are showing the advance is halting. This is ever more clear in the Vallee region where the Junta forces are most loyal to the government. There they even managed to strike back into Mordusian territory. Though this is now ever more difficult for them as territory is with much pain and effort wrestled out of their control, its likely this front will not move forward too much. It remains to be seen which view will be correct. For now we can only support our brave boys fighting to end this fascist junta's reign of terror.

Royal Forces liberate Nouvelle-Orange, Kanjor & Luthori join the effort!

Painfull lessons & unlikely allies in New Orange, the Junta will fear us!

Randworth - As the war progressed smoothly from the initial invasion of the armed forces from april to august 5603, the path to victory became ever more bleak as the war stagnated due to logstical errors, counter-attacks by Aldurian forces, strategic terror strikes against Mordusian forces and not to mention tactical blunders. For every centimeter the Royal forces had to pay a heavy price to push forward, resulting in the Armed forces using bombarding and artillery tactics to soften up the opposition.
 
The front began to be able to push massively forward in january when the allied forces of Luthori and Kanjor began fully in aiding our royal effort into liberating the Aldurian nation from the fascist junta. Kanjor’s attacks along side its land border and coast caused many loyal forces in the east to be diverted to the Kanjor front. With the Junta seemingly wishing to keep the Valley province safe from the invading coalition. In retreating however they have begun attacking vital infrastructure which has made it difficult to move forward for the Luthoro-Mordusian forces along the northern front.
 
As the allied Kanjorian forces push forward, the Royal and Imperial forces have seen massive successes in the Nouvelle Orange area, the province adjacent to the New Orange province in Mordusia. Both provinces are named after the Luthorian Grand Duchy of Orange and the Aldurian & Luthorian House of Orange-Villayn, the current ruling house which still rules our Commonwealth and the Holy Luthorian Empire to this day. Many Orange Loyalists as the Army calls them, have flocked to the banner of the liberation forces of Luthori and Mordusia. Aiding them in securing much of the country side of the province and pushing back the Junta’s forces. Now the coalition of Orange Loyalists, Mordusian and Luthorian forces are fighting the sieze for the capital of Nouvelle Orange in a bid to liberate the entire province.
 
However the war is not going as well everywhere. The mechanised and tank brigades supporting the Royal Army division in the west to liberate the valley has not been able to push much ahead, meeting stiff resistance and making tactical blunders along the way. Due to poor training of some forces on the Mordusian side, Junta forces were able to abush or hit with counter-strikes various supply and logistic trains towards the front. Also various tanks and vehicles were lost due to poor tactical maneauvering and overconfidence of the forces on the ground. This has resulted in general Allan Baker to take over command. He has ordered more troops from the eastern front to the western front and to take more carefull actions. Though this has stabilised the effort, resulting in taking less casualties, it has resulted in a slower advance on the western ride, hoping that this will be taken care off by the Luthorian naval invasion.

Painfull lessons but Alduria is free! Whats next?

Randworth - After months of brutal fighting the lines of the Aldurian Junta collapsed against strong allied effort to liberate the people of Alduria. Mordusian, Luthorian and Kajoran forces have since moved in and occupy the nation so that it can be helped transition back to a free democracy and vote on its own future. A future, all sides hope, is friendly towards the Canrille and Commonwealth.
 
Painful we can call this campaign, to fight against a nation that is in relationship as close as kin. One could describe the relationship to that of somewhere in between a sibling and cousin. However this fight between friends had to happen due to the harsh terror attacks by the fanatic junta. A foolish action that has not helped their case, but also caused shock and anger within Mordusia. Both nations have now to figure out how they wish to proceed their relations.

Pushing forward 
As last we reported the Luthorian invasion along the coast had begun as the Mordusian forces pushed down south whilst the Kanjor forces pushed forward north. Its clear that this war was a realisation for the Mordusian as many tactical blunders had been made and several lessons learned. Despite this victory was near! As the allies pushed forward the junta began concentrating their forces around their capital, putting fierce resistance against the invading powers. So much so that the other frontlines where put on a lesser priority. Only the province of Nouvelle-Orange was put as a major priority. The lines moved poorly outside of Nouvelle-Orange for the coalition at first. Only after shelling and coordinated attacks did the forces of the junta retreat further.  



Liberating Nouvelle-Orange, the centre of Orange-Villayn history in Alduria 
Besides the main front in the east of the country, the Nouvelle-Orange front was the priority. From a strategy point of view this province has not much of a priority, however soon after its liberation it was shown that it was the centre piece in our war justification and fight. As orange flags, flags with the weapon of the Orange-Villayn monarchy were hanged all across the capital of Nouvelle-Orange. The province like the neighbouring Mordusian province of New Orange were named after the Principallity of Orange and are reminders of the shared history of both nations link with the Orange family of Luthori and the Villayns of Alduria who together formed the Orange-Villayn dynasty. Monuments were preserved and even rebuild. Much to the joy of the local population.

Towards the capital & the final siege 
Months of protracted fighting continued on the eastern front as the move towards the capital progressed slowly. The junta used increasingly guerilla tactics and blew up vital infrastructure to slow the progression of the coalition forces. This scorched earth policy went to the detrement of their own population, which the coalition forces along the way came to help as much as they could. Afterall if this is a campaign to liberate the people one can hardly let the people live in more hardship can they? This however proved to become increasingly difficult as the junta used this to further frustrate plans to end the war swiftly. As mechanised and infantry division got closer to the urban centres a bloody urban warfare began to set off. The siege had begun.
 
The siege lasted for months. To break through the Royal Mordusian Army began using mortars and other kinds of artillery to shoot at the junta forces and terrorist support unites. Together with the Kanjor forces pushed on to the centre of the junta command, breaking in with fierce hand to hand combat being used as well as close combat shooting. Eventually the resistance, after a long and hard war, broke down. It was over. The capital city of Alduria was liberated.
 


Occupation and rebuilding a free Alduria
Now began to the organisation of the occupation, only the west had to be occupied and fully screened for remaining resistance pockets. This proved to be a less hard endeavour as the war in the east. Resistance broke down near instantly upon coalition forces arriving with only a few major fights along the way. After which the nation was divided in occupation zones between the three powers. Now a new Aldurian government needs to be set up. What is clear is that all parties involved want a free and democratic Alduria.

In a declaration issued from the Royal Palace in Albian, Prime Minister Eleanor Farrow and Prince Louis, the Governor-General, pledged that Mordusia would contribute 50,000 soldiers to the war effort, reaffirming the strong ties between the two allied nations.
 
With Luthori recently aiding the efforts of Mordusia in the war against Alduria, after the vicious terror attacks the centiments of loyality towards Luthori, Commonwealth and the Crown have never been higher. Reform-Labour Coalition win again!
An election to remember for the minor parties and Reform

Randworth - Yesterday people hopped on to the polls to elect the Parliament of the Commonwealth, all parties campaigned to make sure their voice was heard by the electorate. Especially the Reform Party and National Party, the two main parties duked it out to win the favour of the electorate. Henry DeWitt, leader of the National Party trying to challenge Peter Dustin of the Reform Party, the current Prime-Minister, for the role of Prime-Minister and taking back the government they lost in 5624.

 

A lot was hanging on this election for the Reform-Labour Coalition (here after called the Coalition) led by the Reform Party, could they keep the power they obtained in 5625 for another term or would the previously all-powerfull National Party regain its role as the dominant party of Mordusia? It became clear after the polls closed that the nation had awared the Reform Party their third electoral victory and the second electoral mandate for the Coalition. Though they lost 14 seats they maintained a majority of 15 seats with their 191 seats won. The major winners of the night are obviously the Wildlife Party and the Ikpi Rights Party, the minority parties have secured 4 and 7 seats respectively, a lot of minority parties. Though the National Party won 5 seats increasing their seat count to 149, it didn’t bring them any closer to a majority, a disapointing night for the conservatives.

  

 

In the aftermath Peter Dustin celebrated and thanking the electorate for the mandate. The Prime-Minister announced that during this term the campaign promise of investments in education and public transportation will take priority. Though the National Party seemed to publically stand behind their leader Mr DeWitt's position has been stated to be untannable after this most recent loss, still the leader of the National commented that the National Party thanked its voters and would still ''fight for the hard working middle class of this country against government overreach by the Left-Coalition''. However it seemed more like statements from a bitter loser with only catchphrases, a tired party that needs to reinvent itself.

 

How did we get here? How did the Coalition form?

 

 

 

The National Party had broken every modern records in a multi-party system by staying in power from 5564 (with a plurality, not a majorty) and a majority since 5569 up until the elections of 5624. Wining every election and keeping a narrow majority up until the elections of 5619. Banking on the growing economy, increasing welfare and internationalist views which attracted investments. Also the nationalist views during the war with Alduria gave the Nationals a big following. However this began to fade around 5620. The government lost its unity over investment priorities and leadership challenges. This weakening resulted in a near breakdown when the interior minister clashed with various state governments over federalising the entire police force, resulting in outrage from the local governments, feeling it would go against the federalist structure of nation.

Whilst this was going on the Reform Party had started working on its platform and on itself. It became an outspoken supporter of deeper Seleyan cooperation, reapproachment with the Kalistani Empire and opening the markets further for foreign investments. Whilst at the same time promissing better working conditions, investments in elder care and improving on healthcare. Jumping on the issue of the federal system the Reform Party stated its clear opposition to the centralisation by the National Party and to keep the federal system and looking to devolve more powers where possible. This resonated especially in Voissain and Colliwick.

 

Then it happened, the trubulent elections of 5624, though the polls suggested a majority of the Reform Party it turned out differently. Thanks to the First Past The Post electoral system the competition between the opposition parties amongst the same electorate caused them fumble and lose out on some seats, giving them to the National Party. The result was thus not a majority for either side but a hung parliament with the National Party holding a pluralirty with 152 seats. However the night was still a major victory for the Reform Party who went from 101 seats to 149 seats. The chaos and competition on the left caused Labour to lose ground to the Reform Party and to the Wildlife Party, who managed to finally enter parliament with a big number of seats, 22 to be excact. Labour only kept 34 seats of its 73 that it had prior.

 

 

 

After the election the National Party proposed a minority National coalition supported on some issues by the Reform Party, an arrogant move that in the past had worked, however the Nationals still did not see that the times and the political mood had forever changed. How could the Reforms let the Nationals continue to govern after losing 25 seats? Thus a plan was hatched, Labour and the Wildlife Party would give confidence and supply to the Reform minority government in return for some consessions, but honestly both parties were happy to see the Nationals out.

 

So the Reform Party managed to wrestle the reigns of power away form the Nationals with the help of a confidence and supply agreement. However both the Reform Party and Labour understood that their competition would only hurt them both in the elections. During the year talks where held between both parties to form a electoral alliance and set up a federal coalition between both parties, to become competative against the National Party. After the agreement was announced and with favourable polls at the beginning of 5625 the Prime-Minister called for snap-elections resulting in a massive victory for the Reform Party, making them for the first time the largest party of the nation and securing a mandate of 205 seats (a majority of 29 seats).
