The resistance is crippling the Communist regime!
Guerrilla tactics give way to full-blown military actions: the patriotic front seized all the Region of Nicoma and it's ready to make fall the Socialist Republic
[Image: aKXLZe5l.png]
The Patriotic forces of the resistance entering Caleon acclaimed by the population

October 5607

Caleon - Where the reaction of the Istalian patriots began, the capital of the Region of Nicoma fell this morning into the hands of the resistance forces of the Patriotic Front.

The civil and military leaders of the communist regime of the city surrendered in the night after having noted that almost half of their security forces and military personnel had laid down their arms or had opted to pass into the ranks of the resistance.

The guerrilla tactics, still central in the Peninsula, on the island of Alaria have in recent months given way to full-blown military operations, thanks to the defection of entire military units of the regime and the progressive conquest of positions, armaments and équipements of the army of the Socialist Republic.

The operations are mainly conducted on the ground supported by helicopter units, since the use of jets and bombers has been judged too risky for the civilian population and also because the socialist government itself is proving to be increasingly helpless in the face of the advance of the resistance and the progressive crumbling of its hold on the country and on the civil and military administrations, opting to avoid using the air forces units still loyal precisely so as not to generate further resentment among the civilian population that for the most part is now aligned with the patriotic forces.

The capture of Caleon was promptly followed by the appearance of the co-leader of the Patriotic Front and Commander in Chief of the Resistance Forces Floria Monaldi, who from the balcony of the former Royal Palace of Caleon, where Mattia Appiano-Solari had first denounced the regime of the Socialist Republic, celebrated the patriotic spirit of the brave freedom fighters of Istalia and attacked the regime, inviting it to put an end to the Socialist Republic before their inevitable defeat, avoiding further victims and bloodshed:

Quote:
People of Istalia,
we are now close to the liberation of Alaria from the terrible clutches of the Communist regime and one step away from the end of the Socialist Republic!

We know it, but so do the leaders of this now defeated and distrusted regime, which after having lost the trust of the population is also being abandoned by entire parts of its repressive and dictatorial apparatus.

The courage and the deeds of those who are fighting for the liberation of Istalia, whether they are the indomitable fighters on the front lines or all those, military or civilian, who even with the smallest of gestures are supporting this glorious patriotic enterprise, cannot but be celebrated, yet another demonstration of the greatness of this people and of the love for our glorious homeland, worthy children of Istalia, who like their fathers and mothers in the past have fought to defeat all those forces that have threatened our freedom, our identity and our very survival even too many times.

Caleon has finally been liberated and everywhere in Nicoma the communist flags have been lowered and I assure you that soon the same fate will befall Cisavugli, the last unstable stronghold of the regime that must now recognize that, more than the strength of their weapons, it is their having been definitively abandoned by the Istalians that is deciding their fate.

To avoid further bloodshed and victims in a fratricidal war that has lasted too long, as leader of the Patriotic Front and Commander in Chief of the Resistance Forces, I call on the leaders of the regime to definitively step aside, put an end to the disastrous experience of this failed Socialist Republic and to return to the hands of the Istalian people the sovereignty of which they have been deprived for too long.
May our compatriot Mattia also finally be given back his freedom, who for too many years, stoically, facing hunger, disease and oppression, has nevertheless resisted to give hope to all of Istalia, eager not to give victory to his tormentors and to see with his own eyes an Istalia finally free and reunited.

May this war end because the forces of Istalia will soon have to be turned against the enemy occupiers who are still subjecting the Peninsula to their petty will! The new Istalia that will arise will have no goal other than to drive out the foreign scum, bring to justice the vile traitors of the country and reunite the sacred homeland of Istalia once and for all!

Until the Victory we will fight for Istalia and for the Istalians!

The Partito Socialista Democratico enters in war

After its First Congress today, 16 February 5607, the Partito has decided to enter the fight alongside the Communists and against the Fronte Patriottico. Official declaration, read today by Lorenzo Frappampina, said:

"This is a difficult situation. At the Left side, we have the Communists. They ruled this country for years, sometimes under a really bad dictatorship, but they always were an important figure for people. At the Right side, we have the Patriottics. They fight for the liberation of the country. We have considered if fight with Communists, if fight alongside Patriottics or stay neutral. But on January, something changed our mind. We found a document in code. We analyzed it and found this sentence: <<Must send aid to North side, with Fascists support>>. We think there are some fascist elements in that party. We immediately decided to fight them. We will not be really allies of the Communists, but we will help them, and we'll try to change their mind and open them to democracy.

Carvelli mobilises Istalian communists to fight against reactionary groups
June 5607
[Image: 3aZva5r.png]

Seeing the mobilisation of the Fronte Patriotico and their unrepeated attacks against the Socialist Republic, Carvelli scheduled a special emergency congress inside the PCI to announce a war against the reactionary forces in Alaria, and warns the other territories of Istalia and Quanzar to deal with the ones in their territories.

"This situation has gone way too far. Those who were criticising us because we plunged the nation into chaos and destruction over an unnecessary war, are now the ones destroying their own nation in an unnecessary war against their own people! We must stop the reactionaries from taking over Alaria or the Istalian nation will suffer greatly, we must mobilise whatever amount of supporters we still have to fight them. Per i lavoratori, per la liberazione!"

Carvelli ended his speech with tough and dangerous words, although largely unconvincing, as the PCI has been progressively losing support and members for decades, and the only reason they are still in power is due to Carvelli's decision to block elections until the Fronte Patriotico is disbanded, as it is declared illegal under the law banning non-socialist parties.

The Communist regime has fallen!
Pontalasa taken after the defeat of the last forces of the Socialist Republic: regime's leaders captured and Mattia Appiano-Solari freed

August 5614

Pontelasa - It's official: from the first hours of this glorious 4th August 5615 the Socialist Republic of Istalia is no more!

The Resistance, after years of fights in Cisavugli e months at the gates of Pontalasa, last bastion of the communists, managed to strafe the efforts of the last loyal forces of the Socialist Republic to defend the city. When during the night the Resistance overwhelmed the troops defending the main road artery entering the city, just before the sunrise the remaining of the military high command of the Socialist Republic, in agreement with many officials of the Communist Party, offered their unconditional surrender to the Resistance even proceeding to arrest several hierarchs of the regime still aimed to fight. Among them notably Licio Vetturini, Deputy Secretary General of the Party, Erminio De Cataldo, Commissar of Communications and thus head of party's propaganda, and Felice Bentivoglio, Commissar of the Armed Forces. At the moment there are no news about where Publio Carvelli is instead but some rumors of these first hours suggests that he already fled the country aimed to a friend nations, likely in one of the communist regimes in west Majatra, Zardugal, or even Vanaku or Jelb, recently taken over by quite-leftist forces known as Worldburner.

During the moorning, instead, while the communist troops layed down their arms, among whom there were also civilians loyal until the very end to the Socialist Republic, the forces of the Resistance seized quickly the palaces of the power as well as the main regime's radio and tv stations while some special units proceeded to search and arrest the remaining members of the communist apparatus who without exception didn't resisted.

It was at 2 pm that a press conference was called at the Palace of Commissars, former city hall complex of the city, by the leaders of the Resistance who appeared all together led by Floria Monaldi flanked by Alessandro Appiano-Solari, son of the co-ounder of the Patriotic Front Mattia Appiano-Solari, who talked to the nation as newly appointed Provisional Head of Government of Free Istalia.

Quote:People of Istalia,
after years of struggles, after having seen the fall of many friends and relatives, after the dévastations that the country experienced, finally the Socialist Republic is no more! My brothers and sisters I'm delighted to announce you that the Victory is our!

Alaria has been freed by the vicious forces of the dictatorial Communist regime that plagued our country for decades and that pursued a disastrous war that led to the occupation of our countries and the establishment of puppet regimes led by the traitors of their own fatherland but the struggle is not over!
Now it is time to turn our efforts toward the continent to retake and freed the whole of the country: from the eastern shores of the Sea of Lost Souls to the western slopes of the Nayars the fatherland shall be reunited and bring back under the sovereignty of the Istalians!

But it's also time to begin the reconstruction of Istalia my fellow compatriots, of a new prosperous Istalia for our children and our future générations, a new sovereign and independent Istalia secured from all the menaces, internal and external, that wants to destroy the unity of our country and of our people, menaces that despite the passing of the centuries and millennia are still alive and never gave up the vicious plans to pursue the eradication of our culture and identity from the face of Terra.

For this reason a National Convention for the Renaissance of Istalia will be elected here in Alaria as soon as possible to delineate the future Political, Societal and Institutional framework of Istalia and to make sure that the country will never experience once again the sufferences of those unfortunate years and most importantly that will be never once again divided and that its veritable existence will never be threatened again.

What I can assure you is that the new Istalia that will rise once again from its ashes will be a strong and firmly united Istalia, our fatherland will be a stronghold to defend the liberties, the identity and the security of all Istalians, a country which resiliance to survive and defend its people will be litterarly infinite, like it was the one our fellow compatriot Mattia has reteined for all the years he was kept in captivity by the regime, but also for him the freedom eventually came.

Unfortunately, the long years of prisony affected deeply his health conditions and for this reason he can't be here together with us having being already deplaced to the hospital of Caleon where our best medical teams are already taking care of him and we all together wish him a quick recovery. But in his behalf today we have with us his son Alessandro, who with great braverty joined and partecipated the efforts to freed Istalia and who together with his father inspered all us with their love and care of our fatherland! I cannot forget to say that the efforts of their family for our country have been unvaluable, under all point of view, and their efforts will be recognized like the ones of all those that are fighting with us and alongside us and that are supporting us! I can assure you that! The new Istalia that will rise will learn from and will respect those sacrificies.

Now my brave compatriots, let us turn our gaze anew the west, because there we will fight our last battle!
For Istalia!

National Convention elected in Alaria
The overwhelming majority has been achieved by veterans of the war and the patriots while a tiny minority was taken by the Social Democrats
[Image: tMvvqSql.png]
The National Convention the day of its inauguration the 21th December. Effective works will begin on 9th January.

December 5614

Pontalasa - Thanks to the rapid pacification of the entire island of Alaria and the formation of the Provisional Transitional Government led by Floria Monaldi, in less than three months the elections for the National Convention were organized, whose 355 members, including representatives elected by the resistance organizations on the peninsula, are called to redefine the institutional structure of the country.

The vast majority of seats, assigned through a single-round majoritarian system, were won almost equally by the Patriotic Front and by veterans of the war, many of whom are still engaged in the effort to liberate the Peninsula, while a marginal number of seats were won by the Democratic Socialist Party, founded in 5607 in the midst of the civil war by defectors from the Communist Party dissatisfied with the authoritarian drift and who, alarmed by the false news spread by the Regime about the fascist nature of the resistance, had sided with the Communists but which, after the fall of the regime, became the main party of reference for the left, and which managed to bring to its side many veterans not affiliated with the Patriotic Front and of more moderate tendencies.

The role of the veterans and of those who have contributed and are contributing to the liberation conflict has clearly been decisive but although the majority support the Patriotic Front, a large number of them ran as independent although they are the expression of a large loose aggregation of fervent nationalists fomented by Alessandro Appiano-Solari, today one of the greatest figures of the Resistance, highly respected and almost venerated by many of his fellow veterans and already confirmed as leader of the Peninsular Liberation Forces, who seems to have slowly but progressively distanced himself from the shadow of Floria Monaldi who is seeing her political hegemony effectively being undermined by the Appiano-Solaris who, according to unconfirmed rumours, fear an authoritarian drift by the interim Head of the Provisional Government which would undermine the credibility of what has been for years a crusade not only in the name of the liberation and reunification of the country but also of freedom and democracy suppressed by the Communist regime, an issue which has already seen the raising of some complaints for some time within the Patriotic Front as well as among the ranks of the Resistance.

The Convention already meet for the inauguration cerimony a week after the elections but for the beginning of the works it will meet once the Christmas holidays are over, at the beginning of next year, that is, on Monday 9 January, and it is expected that the first debates and the very first votes will concern the formation of a Constitutional Committee to draft a new Constitution but also of an Ethical-Legal Committee that will have the task of evaluating and then proposing for inclusion in the Constitution the values, rights and duties of the citizens of the new Istalia that will come and that more than the Constitution itself will outline the framework and the concrete mechanisms of political activity in the country.

Many analysts, in light of the exploits of the veterans close to Alessandro Appiano-Solari but also of the decades-long propaganda by the patriots, which did not skimp on the glorification of the times of the Empires as the highest forms of expression and protection of Istalia and its identity, predict that a new monarchic constitution will be chosen for the form of government of the country, but they also underline that it will not be a simple restoration of those systems, which will instead certainly see novelties and new ways of structuring the government and the relations between the various powers of the state.

The Imperial State of Istalia is born!
The Convention approved yesterday the Constitution and the Chart of Rights and Duties of the Citizens: a new rationalized and defensive democracy will rise
[Image: l6SAP4Dl.png]
The flag proposed to the Convention, lickely to be adopted as the flag of the Imperial State of Istalia

August 5616

Pontelasa - After months of work and debates, yesterday afternoon the National Convention approved with 241 votes in favor, 65 against and 49 abstentions the new constitution of the country whose official name will be that of "Imperial State of Istalia".

As predicted since the first days of the convention by the analysts and experts of the country, Istalia will return to being a monarchy with a Third Restoration of the Empire although the novelties and differences compared to the past restorations will be notable except for who will ascend the returned imperial throne, namely the Appiano-Solari Family, the only still existing Cadet Branch descending from the Appiano De Borromei House whose direct line of descent became extinct about a century ago.

Amidst thunderous acclamations and applause, before the approval and official proclamation of the Constitution, Mattia Appiano-Solari was welcomed yesterday in the hall, accompanied by his son Alessandro who supported him the whole time given the fragility of his health conditions that forced him to use a wheelchair from when he got out of his car to the antechamber of the large conference room occupied by the Convention, where he entered leaning on a stick instead.

By now the personal, political, diplomatic and economic commitment of Mattia Appiano-Solari and his family has become fully public knowledge and for some time now it has been emphasized how certain him choice was to hold the highest office of the future Istalian state, especially in light of the reverential respect developed among the citizens and especially among the fighters and veterans of the conflict to which his son Alessandro contributed greatly thanks to his role and his activity within the Resistance.

The new Istalian Coat of Arms as proposed to the Convention for approvation

It was precisely the veterans who played a major role in the delineation and approval of what has been defined as a new rationalized form of combative democracy aimed at defending the institutional order and the survival of the Istalian state. Among the first lines of the new constitutional charter, among the rights and duties of the citizen, it is reported not only that the defense of the state is a fundamental and sacred duty of every citizen but also that, and this will be the great novelty, active and passive political rights will be the prerogative of those citizens who have contributed to the war effort up to now and of those who in the future will take charge of the defense of the state and will contribute to the well-being, development, functioning and prosperity of the state: as reported in article 4 of the Fundamental Duties of the Citizen "Military service or an equivalent national service is a pillar of civic responsibility and a prerequisite for active and passive political participation" and as reported in article 3 of Title I of the Constitution "Only those citizens who have completed a minimum of two years of military service or an equivalent national service shall have the right to vote and run for public office" specifying that "all other citizens retain their full civil rights and protections under the law".
Just as specified by this last article, the rest of the citizens who will not be holders of active and passive political rights will continue to enjoy all the fundamental rights traditionally and historically recognized in Italy, will be able to freely associate with any political party and will be able to continue to enjoy freedom of thought, conscience, religion, expression and association and will be protected exactly like the citizens who enjoy active and passive political rights.

Another novelty introduced by the Constitution will be the role of the Head of State, who will be officially defined as "Emperor of the Istalians", as in the previous Imperial constitutions, but also "Sovereign of the Istalian State", and who will have a greater role than the Ceremonial Head of State of the previous incarnations acting as Guarantor and highest supervisory authority of the Institutional Order with the duty to intervene "where the stability of the constitutional order or the existence of the state is at risk" and even more notably the Emperor will have to grant together with the Parliament his support to the Government.

From the benches occupied by the Democratic Socialist Party, the barbs were raised thunderously accusing the majority of the Convention of a veritable attack on the democratic order and above all they addressed fierce criticism to the Ethical-Legal Committee, the Commitee of the Convention involved together with the Constitutional one in drafting the Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Duties of the Citizen. To respond to the accusations, Professor Carmine Maria Fornero, former full professor of Constitutional Law at the State University of Romula Enrico Bergson, fired after refusing to swear allegiance to the Free State of Istalia, the puppet government installed by Pontesi in the south of the Peninsula, rose from the benches of the Ethical-Legal Committee and spoke about the precepts inserted in the Constitution relating to active and passive political rights.

Quote:We should open our mind to new ideas and new logics, even departing from the "classic" contemporary principles about politics and democracy. This provvision is not an infringement on democratic principles but rather a means to ensure a more responsible and committed electorate and to cultivate a citizenry that prioritizes national well-being over personal interest and has demonstrably committed itself to the service of the state and its people.

One of the fundamental precepts of democratic governance is that those who participate in the political process should do so with an informed and responsible mindset. Requiring individuals to voluntarily engage in military or national service before acquiring political rights would fosters a sense of duty, responsibility and investment in the collective good. Military or equivalent service instills discipline, resilience and a cooperative spirit, qualities essential for both governance and informed political participation and it ensures that those participating in the political process have demonstrated a tangible commitment to the security and stability of the state. Actively serving the nation makes develop a deeper understanding of civic obligations and the consequences of political decision-making, producing thus more capable and conscientious voters and officeholders.

Of course the main point about which you can argue is that such a restriction undermines universal suffrage and equality before the law but I have to underline that democratic systems frequently impose conditions on political participation to enhance the integrity of governance, such as age requirements, residency qualifications, and the exclusion of felons. The requirement of a national service should be viewed not as a restriction but as a constructive criterion designed to foster a political class that has proven its commitment to the nation through action rather than rhetoric alone.

Societies that have emphasizes the importance of civic duty in political participation can enjoy greater stability and resilience. This system can mitigate the risks posed by uninformed or disengaged electorates and ensure that those who shape the political future have already demonstrated, as said, a willingness to put national interests above their own. It can establish a framework where the electorate is not merely passive but actively involved in the preservation and enhancement of the democratic order.

In conclusion, restricting the political rights to citizens who have undertaken military or equivalent national service is not an exclusionary measure but a mechanism to reinforce democratic responsibility of citizenry. Far from being an impediment to democracy this system can serve as an effective safeguard against its erosion by ensuring that those who shape its future have already proven their dedication to its survival and prosperity.

Similar thesis on the reinforcement and defense of the democratic process came from Margherita Guerini, member of the Constitutional Committee and once part of the High Commissariat for the Justice of the Socialist Republic before the dictatorial shift, who responded to the criticism about the role of the Emperor:

Quote:As it has been proven in our own country for three times already, the coexistence of a hereditary head of state within a democratic system is not a paradox. Within a democratic framework a non-elected sovereign provides continuity and stability, unlike elected officials who are subject to political cycles, electoral shifts, and party interests, remaining above the fray of daily politics, serving as a symbol of national unity and institutional stability. This continuity fosters a sense of historical identity and national cohesion, particularly in times of crisis or transition, when political institutions may be under strain like the times we are living.

The existence of a hereditary head of state offers an important counterbalance to political power: the role of the Sovereign grants to the state a unique authority as an impartial guardian of the constitutional order and he can serve most importantly as a moral compass and ensure that democratic institutions function according to established constitutional norms. In case the democratic processes are threatened by political instability, populist demagoguery or attempts to erode institutional guaranties, the presence of a neutral figure can act as a bulwark against authoritarian tendencies.

A hereditary monarchy can enhance democratic legitimacy rather than detract it. Elected representatives derive their authority from popular sovereignty but a monarch represents a historical and cultural continuity that transcends short-term political considérations. The monarch, not engaging in partisan competition, is uniquely positioned to promote national interests over factional ones.

Thus, a hereditary head of state in a democracy can serve as a protective shield against the very threats that endanger democratic stability and thus it can function not as an impediment to democracy but as a reinforcing element that enhances its resilience and durability.

Large scale counter-attack on the Peninsula
While in Alaria the new Istalian state is being organized the newly reconstituted Imperial Armed Forces lands on the south of Fidelia: puppet states tremble
[Image: JwmGJmyl.png]
General Alessandro Appiano-Solari adressing his speech to the crowd and the nation in the central square of Faro

January 5617

Faro - The reconquest of the Sarrentine Peninsula has officially begun! The counterattack against the puppet states on the Peninsula has begun with a large-scale operation that has seen amphibious forces land unopposed on the continent both north and south of Faro, the easternmost city of the Peninsula, from where the authorities of the puppet government of the Free State of Istalia have already fled while in Taranda, Lecci, Neapoli and Ingona the population has taken to the streets and has launched into real urban guerrilla actions that are only being limitedly countered by the collaborationist authorities whose leaders, in truth, seem to be focused on organizing their escape as happened in Faro.

National and international analysts and experts believe that the campaign to reconquer the Peninsula will see a rapid fall of the Free State of Istalia and a less rapid but still constant progression northwards into the territory of the so called Great Emirate of Quanzar which eventually will fall too.
The Peninsula during and after the distrous conflict lead by Nevio Russo was hit hard, the main roads and railways were destroyed both by the Communist forces retreating during the conflict with Pontesi and Kafuristan, by the Invasion forces during the fall and then they were further hit by the Resistance which thwarted the reconstruction efforts of Quanzar and of the Free State of Istalia.
Crops and industries were equally not spared and among the major losses were recorded three large gas-fired power plants which led to a chronic situation of regular blackouts throughout the Peninsula with consequent energy rationing.

After years of guerrilla warfare and armed opposition, both Pontesi and Kafuristan have withdrawn most if not all of their troops from Istalian territory, leaving their puppet governments to essentially defend themselves alone. Unable, and indeed uninterested, in maintaining large forces on the ground to control and suppress opposition to the new regimes, it is now certain that both Kafuristan and Pontesi will leave their allies and collaborators in Istalia to their fate, recognizing the impossibility of controlling over 110 million Istalians.

In the north of the Peninsula, despite the proclamations of the Ahmadi extremists in power to defend to the death Quanzar, thousands of families have already left the country towards Solentia but especially Kafuristan and given the scarcity of means and armaments of the Regular Forces and the Ahmadi Militias, the intelligence information departments have reported how the local authorities and key collaborators have already transferred their financial resources abroad while the hundreds of thousands of Solentian refugees welcomed in the past years by Quanzar have been literally left to their fate, victims together with the Ahmadi communities of assaults and harassment by the local Istalian population that also in Quanzar is beginning to rebel against what had been imposed as a dictatorship of the Ahmadi Majatran minority.

In Romula, only the curfew that was imposed immediately after the landing of the Resistance Forces and the massive presence of the Military Forces of the Free State of Istalia on the streets are preventing massive popular demonstrations, although urban clashes and assaults conducted by the Resistance forces on site are multiplying.

In the streets of the cities already fallen into chaos, there are also episodes of veritable public lynchings against certified or presumed collaborators of the Free State's regime and the killing of three Pontesian citizens has been reported, two known for having been some of the main industrialists who forcibly took over the ownership and control of several local companies, the third instead appears to be a fixer who on behalf of the Pontesian Government organized the dismemberment and sale of several other companies and the transfer of large amounts of capital to Forum Hortus (capital of Pontesi). The efforts to drain financial resources and to totally put the economy of the south of the Peninsula Under Pontesian control are well knonw and the local population have suffered a lot of misery and deprivation as well as brutal repressions, the only real way both puppet governments could follow to keep the large local population in check.

Welcomed triumphantly by the population of Faro, the Forces of the newly reconstituted Imperial Armed Forces of Istalia paraded along the main axis of the city led by Alessandro Appiano-Solari, now General in charge of the Expeditionary Force as its Supreme Commander as well as new heir to the Istalian Empire, although the proclamation of his father has been postponed to the end of the war on request of the new Emperor himself. Having reached the crowded square in front of the Torre d'Istalia (Tower of Istalia), the one kilometre-long skyscraper built under the First Empire along the foundation of the city, Alessandro Appiano-Solari spoke to the crowd broadcasted to the rest of the country:

Quote:People of Istalia! My fellow Compatriots!

The day of redemption has finally come! For too long our beloved land has been trampled by the vile traitors, by those puppet governments that have sold out the honor of our nation, bowing to foreign masters, breaking our spirit and suffocating our freedom! But today their lies crumble under the weight of the truth! Their dominion is almost over!

The Forces of Liberation advance unstoppable! The traitors tremble in their palaces and even flee, because they know that their hour is near! They know that the people of Istalia have awakened, that they will no longer accept chains, that they will no longer remain on their knees! We rise again! We march towards our reunification, towards greatness, towards the destiny that awaits us!

Istalians! Look around you! Look at your Brothers and your sisters! We are one people, bound by one history, one identity, one destiny! Istalia will be once again one and indivisible and there will be no more borders imposed by the traitors, there will be no more masters dictating the law on our own land! We will finally be free, masters of our future, proudly ruling on our homeland!

And when the Sun of the new dawn will rise, it will shine on the Star of Istalia that will shine again! It will shine on a land finally liberated, on a people newly united and sovereign, on a nation that stands proud in its ancient splendor! No force can stop us! No obstacle can extinguish the ardour of an entire people that has decided to take back its own fate!

Let us march together, united under a single flag! For Istalia, for freedom, for glory! The days of misery and shame are over! New pages of history open before us, pages that we will write with our courage, with our determination, with our unshakable will to be, once again, united, free, prosperous and great!

Forward, Istalians! Towards freedom! Towards victory!

Romula liberated: the Free State is no more!
The leadership of the southern puppet state fled the country after their Armed Forces fell apart while Quanzar forces fortify their positions on the borders and the brutality of Ahmadi foundamentalists against Istalian civilians increases
[Image: R4T4uSIl.png]
Istalian Imperial troops passing through the roads of Romula

March 5617

ROMULA After just a couple of months of rapid advance of the Imperial Armed Forces, facilitated by spontaneous rebellions in most of the cities of the Fidelia region, which in practice constituted the territory of the puppet government of the south, by the action of Resistance cells long established in the territory and above all by the dismemberment of the Armed Forces of the Free State of Istalia, they have taken control of the entire southern part of the Peninsula and have finally entered Romula today, former capital of Istalia, where what was seen in Faro and in the other liberated cities was repeated: tens of thousands of people who poured into the streets and squares to celebrate the liberation and welcome the troops arrived from Alaria.

The Italian Armed Forces in this first phase of reconquest of the Peninsula have encountered, as mentioned, a laughable resistance and the only real armed clashes have taken place in Ingona and Bescara, where the meager forces still loyal to the Free State have covered the escape of the very last troops of Pontesi, who remained in the country as military consultants, a certain number of Pontesian civilians, various fixers and industrialists, as well as part of the leaders of the Free State together with numerous civilians who, having collaborated with the puppet government, fear for their fate.

If the recovery of the south has seen practically no bloodshed, as independent analysts and the Defense had predicted, the liberation of the north of the Peninsula will certainly see the level of clashes intensify.
In fact, while Imperial troops entered Romula, Quanzar's Armed Forces began fortifying positions along the border with the Free State while the fundamentalist Ahmadi Militias carried out a series of raids to destroy the main communication routes between the south and the north, but not only.

Worrying news of retaliation against the Istalian population are starting to emerge despite the blocking of internet network and communications, a measure implemented to prevent the proliferation of news from the south and to hinder attempts at coordination between the Istalian Forces and the resistance cells in Quanzar, where the repression against suspected collaborators of the Resistance and in general of the Istalian population has been very harsh and in many cases extremely brutal. In recent months the situation has worsened drastically and among the news that has caused the most sensation is that of the shooting in the central Piazza di Neflone of Castiell 'e Sciorenza of 17 civilians and 2 former gendarmes accused by the militiamen of belonging to the Resistance or of having collaborated with it.

Unlike what happened in the Free State, in Quanzar the Government of Kafuristan continued to send money and military equipment for years, the presence of the Ahmadi fundamentalist militiamen oppressed the population with fear and terror and the greater resources available allowed the establishment of an efficient secret police that represented a real problem for the Resistance in establishing operational cells in the north of the Peninsula, not to mention the numerous kidnappings and subsequent disappearances of hundreds if not thousands of people, actions that affected politicians, former soldiers and policemen, university professors, activists and also numerous members of the Aurorian clergy, including the bishop of Terebbìa, of whom there has been no news for twelve years and it is presumed that he was assassinated.

It is certain that the so-called Grand Emirate of Quanzar will have to face the determination of the Istalians and the new Imperial Government and the opinion of experts and analysts is virtually unanimous on the fact that the authorities of the Emirate will hardly be able to counter the Istalian advance and above all will hardly be able to continue to keep at bay the almost 73 million Istalians under their yoke.

Elections in Alaria: the new Istalian National Congress disappoints Floria Monaldi
Although the Patriots' coalition managed to gain the relative majority the results were below expectations and only thanks to external support they will be able to form the new government
[Image: rCf1pIZl.png]
The new elected parliamentarians reunited into the converted Municipal Theather of Pontelasa

September 5617

PONTELASA - Over the past three days, general elections for the 475 seats of the National Congress, the new Italian parliament, were held, which had been called at the end of March on the island of Alaria immediately after the formal closure of the National Convention and the approval of the final measures to fully establish the new Imperial State of Istalia.

As provided for by the new Imperial Constitution, 25% of the seats in the National Congress were reserved for the Armed Forces whose members ran on lists parallel to the civilian ones presented by all the political parties representative within the military. Contesting the first elections under the new Imperial State of Istalia were the two major political parties, the Patriotic Front of Istalia (FPI) and the Democratic Socialist Party (PSD), although a number of other smaller parties of various backgrounds presented their lists and were admitted to the elections: the New Party of Istalian Communists (NPCI), the Veterans' Party (PdV), the Democratic Hosian Union (UOD), the Liberal Alliance (AdL), the Imperial Throne Party (PTI), the Istalian Syndicalist Front (FSI), the Istalian Phalange (FI), the Democratic Action Movement (MAD), and the National Conservative Party (PNC).

Despite the more than optimistic forecasts on the eve of the elections for the Patriotic Front and its allies of the Veterans Party and the Istalian Phalange, a party founded by close supporters of Monaldi, the results that began to arrive already during the night were a real surprise and if the coalition led by Floria Monaldi managed to bring back the relative majority with 43% of the votes, with the Veterans Party only 6 points behind the FPI and the Phalange that instead didn't achieved to enter the parliament, the Popular Democratic Coalition formed by PSD, NPCI and FSI managed to grab an excellent 31% while the rest of the seats were won by the UOD (8%), the AdL (7%), but above all by the PTI which achieved a very good (10%).

It will be the external support of the PTI that will most likely guarantee Floria Monaldi the majority needed to form the first official government of the Imperial State of Istalia, a government where the seats for the FPI will be much fewer than its leader had hoped, having to share them above all with the Veterans' Party, which, unlike what Monaldi herself had predicted, have proven to be much closer to the positions of Appiano-Solari than to those of Monaldi, whose political visions for the future of Istalia have long since taken two different paths.

Another fact that was equally surprising was the support that the Left Coalition has conquered among the ranks of the Armed Forces, following not only an effective electoral campaign conducted by the Democratic Socialist Party, which seems to have adapted very quickly to the new "quasi-stratocratic" system installed in the country, but also the obliged decision for the new Imperial government to quickly integrate the men and officers of the previous Communist Regime into the ranks of the army for the needs of the war effort on the Peninsula.

There are many in the country and even within the majority itself who have breathed a sigh of relief when they see the first results of the elections, given that there has been discontent for some time now over a perceived authoritarian drift taken by Monaldi once he took power on the Island, and certainly among those most satisfied with this personal debacle of the Patriotic leader is Grand Prince Alessandro, who from the Peninsula, where he is leading the Liberation, with the new title of Lieutenant-General of the Empire bestowed to him by his father Mattia, the acting Emperor and Sovereign, released a comment that, despite its fully institutional character, was nevertheless happy to see how the dynamism of Italian democracy has returned to fully express itself in the Country, a cutting remark aimed directly to Monaldi who will now have to deal with the very party that was evidently born as an expression of the will of the Crown, namely the PTI, which achieved the best results precisely among the lists to elect the 25% of the seats guaranteed to the Armed Forces and which according to many analysts has turned out to be a real translation into parliament of the Imperial prerogative of guarantee of the Institutional and Democratic Order.

The reconquest and liberation of the Sarrentine Peninsula will obviously be the main objective on which the government's action will focus and which will certainly lead Pontelasa to reopen to the world on a diplomatic level to seek assistance and logistical but above all financial support for the reunification effort.
The defenses of Quanzar, which were better prepared than expected, and the state of the Istalian Armed Forces, in fact, obviously deeply affected by the Russo's War and the Years of the Treaty of Shame (how the period of national division has began to be called), are making the advance towards the north difficult and dangerous while the flight of more and more Istalians from Quanzar towards the south is generating a humanitarian crisis that the government is having difficulty managing, with the infrastructure in the cities and in the provinces of the Peninsula seriously compromised while the naval assets almost totally engaged in supporting the military in the invasion prevents refugees from being brought to the island of Alaria.

The advance of the Istalian troops towards the north of the Peninsula has broken and overcome the fortified lines of Quanzar and are now converging towards the major centers of the central-Sarrentine area.

With a notable logistical effort at least fifteen thousand units have been transported by sea to the north-west of the Peninsula where they landed north of Gelamia taking advantage of the almost non-existent presence of Quanzarian forces in the area, recalled to the east in Trivendito, the heart of the Emirate, following the breakthrough of the defense lines along the former Free State-Quanzar border and due to the uprisings underway in almost all the cities of Quanzar, with consequent clashes and urban warfare, which are forcing the authorities to keep many of their troops there.

The Istalian forces are fighting to surround the cities so as to isolate the various local garrisons, internal cells of the Resistance are giving their contribution with lightning-quick assaults against the enemy columns, industrial centers and supply lines, while in the Strait of Missel the naval forces are progressively taking control of the seas.

Unfortunately the conditions of the Istalian army in terms of equipment and means at its disposal are paying the price of the military defeat of the communists, the disarmament impositions imposed by Pontesi and Kafuristan and the years of extreme decline of the years of the Treaty of Shame. The air forces supporting the campaign are constituted almost exclusively by helicopters while the few jets and bombers are keep safe and used just to perform hit and run actions; the Army can count on a limited numbers of tanks and are using mainly old armoured wheeled vehicle; most of the equipements for the logistic has been requisitioned from civilians.
Despite the forecasts of experts and analysts, the proclamations of the new Government and the charisma of Alessandro Appiano-Solari, the undisputed protagonist of the war efforts, the fight against Quanzar is proving harder than expected and while it is undoubted that Quanzar's chances of survival are very low, it is also true that in the current state of things the forecasts indicate very high losses for Istalia and destruction on a large scale in the north of the Peninsula.

To respond to such limitations, as reported in the aftermath of the élections, the government of Pontelasa has become active on the diplomatic level to request support abroad for the war effort of reunification.
It must be said, however, that the fall of the Socialist Republic and the nationalist positions of the new Istalian state have upset several socialist and left-wing governments and in general the country is still paying for the drastic diplomatic isolation caused by the conflict unleashed by Nevio Russo.
