The current government under the premiership of Sven Kivi has led to complete inaction on the part of the Government, especially after a tough fall and winter for Dolgava's farmers. Dolgava's farmers first suffered a series of floods, and storms that ruined crops, followed by an early winter, which ruined local wheat and potato crops across the country. Previous Governments established governmental backed insurance to help Dolgava's farmers, however the Kivi Government cut this program as a "wasteful". The protests have now begun, as Dolgava is enduring a cold, and long winter. With elections taking place at the lastest, in November of this year, the status quo was clearly failing Dolgava's farmers. They took to the streets of several Dolgavan cities, including Aikums, Ebenzing, Noversk, and Trigrad. Many tractors took to the streets, plowing through the snow, and blocking roads and streets. In Aikums, farmers joined together with dissatisfied college students. blue collar workers, working class workers and others to protest the governemnt. Signs in the streets showed the current Prime Minister as asleep at the helm, with posters picking fun at his weirdly shaped nose, and his extreme "small government" stance. The protests have shaken the nation, with police clashing with protestors in several cities, and some government officials calling the protests a "excuse for hooliganism", however this merely set off more and more people, as now major demonstrations have appeared across the country. Farmers are not only tired of the current ruling class, but they are tired of the Conservatives in general. A group of farmers in Lirath and Hodari, have created a new Political Party called the Dolgavanas Piena Partija (DPP), (Dolgavan Dairy Party), a party focused on the needs of dairy farmers, and agriculture in general. As of now a leader has not been elected, but they are expected to be somewhat successful regionally, in Lirath and Hodari. The Government and the Dolgavan King, Sigismund III have been quiet, however the monarch could intervene and force an election if he was so needed. There is no word why the Conservative government has been inactive, but political commentators point to the fact that no real opposition has existed for hundreds of years, and the ruling class of Dolgava has gone complacent and are out of touch with reality. As of now, they will have to revert back to some semblance of governance, because if they do not, they are going to experience a electoral landslide, in which they may collapse. Tonight the government was resoundingly defeated by a ragtag group of farmers, and agricultural activists, led by the pragmatic Jaanus Jogi. As the results rolled in, the Dolgavanas Piena Partija (DPP), (Dolgavan Dairy Party) won a massive majority, winning 100 out of 189 seats, sweeping the rural regions, winning a plurality of the Island of Karzon, and winning two-thirds of the popular vote. ![[Image: PFYU6lV.png]](https://i.imgur.com/PFYU6lV.png) Nationwide Popular Vote Sven Kivi's quickly resigned as Prime Minister and his government will soon be transferring power to the new DPP Government. The leader of the Dolgavan Dairy Party is Jaanus Jogi, a pub owner in the small village of Juusa, south of Ebenzing. He is also the owner of a large dairy farm, and runs the pub on his farm. He has long criticized what he calls "Governmental elitism" in Dolgava, and has said that the Dolgavan Conservative Party has "abandoned everyday Dolgavans". In a speech to the country the new Prime Minister called tonight's victory a "huge victory for the Dolgavan people" He said Quote:Friends, neighbors, and fellow countrymen, tonight the people of this nation have spoken. The old establishment, the old guard are in ruins. The old is gone and the new is here, a new future for you and your family. A new future that you can afford, a future where Dolgavan children do not live with the debt of our failure and inaction, but with a bright shining future. We tonight have taken control of our destiny, and the people now have the power once again! Critics claim that the new Government holds little to no experience, and that this hurts their chances of negotiating and keeping a stable government in the longterm. However with the new Government holding a massive mandate, and the people wanting change, and wanting a government not full of experienced politicians, it is clear that this is exactly what they wanted. The new Government will be meeting with the Dolgavan King in the coming days, and will be appointing a full cabinet as well. The future of Dolgava will take a new more nationalist turn, one that prioritizes the working class of Dolgava and is more targeted to the needs of all Dolgavans. The government is motivated and driven to make Dolgava better once again, and it seems that they will be striving toward this goal into the future, where everyday Dolgavans hold the power once again in Dolgava. In an announcement he made to the country he said that this will be a "time of transition", and that chronic illness for him. He has suffered all of his life from brittle bone disease, and this has impacted his ability to travel and to represent Dolgava abroad. His daughter Crown Princess Jaanika, will spend the next five years raining to become the next monarch of Dolgava. An excerpt of his statement is below. Quote:It has been the honor my life to be your King, and it has been truly an honor to have the backing of the people of Dolgava. However I feel like if I continue in my capacity, I will be doing this country a disservice in continuing to stay the King. Princess Jaanika will be able to not only do what I cannot, but she will do so in grace and humility. She has my full confidence, and I ask you all to give her your support and love in the coming years as this time of change takes place. King Sigismund III has already led Dolgava through change. The day he took the throne, he renounced the Dolgavan Imperial titles, and instead pushed for the country to become a Kingdom once again, with his "we must end imperial ambitions" speech being what he is known for. He has led the country with humility and has stayed out of the spotlight and has led from behind the scenes. Egelion has had a stable relationship with Dolgava through many decades, however with the new Government in Dolgava, it is clear that the Dolgavan Government wants to establish a close connection with Egelion, and keeping friendships on the continent of Keris, has long been a strategic priority and goal of Dolgava. For the Crown Princess it was a good chance to represent the country, that she will soon be the monarch of. She specifically met with the Royal council of Egelion, which acts as the de facto cabinet of the country. She also met with the King, the topics of conversation, being private, and not disclosed by the Royal Palace. She has spent several days meeting with Elgelion authorities, with topics discussed including the possibility of restarting the Kerisian Economic Union, and to encourage Dolgavan and Egelion companies to do business with each other's countries. The talks were very successful, and the state visit was well received for the Crown Princess, as she was treated well be Egelion. After she met with the Government of Egelion, she would visit the famous city of Puerto Campanas, where she would get some sun and spend some time at the beach, and taking some time to relax, having some time to herself. For Dolgava the hope will be that this is the beginning of lasting peace, and cooperation in Keris, and that Egelion and Dolgava will become valuable allies and trade partners with each other in the future. After several months, the Dolgavan Government has made public the military side of discussions made with the Kingdom of Dorvik, a decision that will certainly shape Dolgava's foreign policy platform going into the future, and shows that the new Government wants to solidify old alliances once again. The Dorvish representatives that came to Aikums helped lay the framework not only for bilateral trade agreements, (something that will greatly help both countries), but will let the Kingdom of Dorvik station naval forces in the Dolgavan city of Scharhofen. The existing port facilities there will be greatly expanded, and it will provide a key base for Dolgavan and Dorvish forces on the west side of Karzon. A statement from the new Minister of Defense Laimzieds Krēsliņš called the deal a Quote:This agreement that has been made with the Kingdom of Dorvik, we benefit both of our countries, and ensuring that we stand strong in the face of instability and looming conflict in from both Kundrati, and Likatonia. The Prime Minister quickly took to the airwaves this morning calling the Likatonian and Kundrati states out for their actions, as well as saying that Dolgava will not stand idly by while the peace in Seleya gets trampled on by these states. His statement is as follows Quote:Good Morning, Today I have made the regrettable decision to ask the Minister of Trade and Tariffs, Katrin Keskkula to put full sanctions on the nations of Likatonia and Kundrati. This is in response to aggression on both Kalistan and Lodamun. We have shared a long history of friendship and mutual peace and respect with our neighbors across the Karzon Strait, and we will stand alongside them against any nation. Lodamun especially shares a mutual defensive pact around the Strait of Karzon, something we are finally upholding once again, and we will continue to keep the Karzon strait secure. If we believe it cannot be secure, we will take efforts to shut down the Karzon Strait to any warship that is not a nation bordering the strait. The warmongering governments in Kundrati and Likatonia are bringing uncertainty and chaos to the region, and we will stand up firm against these nations. These sanctions will ensure that peace and stability remain for not only Dolgava, and Keris, but for our friends in Seleya. The war they now rage is one that is fabricated into the nation's imagination. The brand of extremism in Likatonia, masquerades as one of a Democratic, tolerant nation, but this hides the festering wounds of imperialism, extremism and Fascism. The words of the Likatonian are stark, hold no middle ground, and show that they are hellbent on their course, regardless of the cost or consequence. Now Likatonia has convinced it's population that Likatonia and Lodamun are "evil,"... that they are in a battle between "light and darkness", and no matter the criticism thrown at them, they will not yield. Likatonia's arguments fall flat when you consider the longevity and stability of its neighbors, that is is engaging with. Starting with Lodamun, they have put the dark history of the old ruling class of the Ecofuedalist Antinatalist dictatorships, in ancient history, and has been a beacon of stability and progress in Northern Seleya. Lodamun has had one of the most stable governments in recent memory, ranking with the prestige of Lourenne in its golden age, and yet the Likatonian state has abandoned reason for madness, and decided that Lodamun is a "tyrannical regime". Kalistan's history of as intriguing and stable as Lodamun, with them being a beacon of freedom for many generations at this point. The days of fledgling Socialist Republican are behind it, and they have fully transformed into a power player, and leader of democracy across Terra. For Kalistan, the threat from Likatonia must seem ironic, as Likatonia throughout it's history, has bashed its head with Kalistan. For the Likatonian people, instead of seeing through the perfectly spun lies of the Likatonian Government, they are believing everything they hear from their charismatic President Kinsely Koch. Koch has taken right wing governance to an extreme, now pushing neoconservative imperialistic ideologies, and trying to act like they are "defending" themselves from "extremism". With a smile she has connived and misled the people of Likatonia, that they are under siege, that the democratic states around them, want to take them over, and that they will fight to the last man to see their homeland protected. This is all a classic sign of Fascism, and a clear sign of a Government that is floundering past a point of no return. Some may look at the current battle with concern, while others still look in wonderment at the infighting between the extremist states of Likatonia and Kundrati, but may this be a lesson to us all, that Fascism with a smile, after all is still Fascism, and has destructive tenancies. We must stand strong against extremism and fascism in its many forms, as a means to stay diligent from the erosion of Democracy! The Dolgavan Government has been keeping tabs on the ongoing crisis in Trigunia, and has come to the conclusion that Trigunia is in a state of civil war, and that regional war and chaos cannot go to Dolgava's shores. The force is one division strong, made up of the 1st Panzerių skyrius and is modeled after Dorvik's elite Panzer divisions. The force is being moved from the division's home in Aikums, up north to Lirath Army base, where they will be positioned throughout the north of the country, as a defensive measure. The backbone of this division is the Leopard D-22 which is a domestically produced variant of the Dorvish Leopard II main battle tank. There is no word on where the division will be placed, as this is secret, but it is clear that Dolgava is worried about the ongoing instability in Trigunia, and that is could spill over into the Deliverance Pass or beyond. ![[Image: Zcr2m1e.png]](https://i.imgur.com/Zcr2m1e.png) The Dolgavan Minister of Defense called the operation a "military exersize", but at the same time said that it was in response to ongoing civil war in Trigunia. The Dolgavan Prime Minister has ordered that Dolgava evacuate all of it's embassy staff from Rodshyadam and that the Dolgavan Government has issued travel bans to all Dolgavans not present in diplomatic activity, due to the ongoing biological warfare ongoing there. All Dolgavans coming back to the country, will have a 5 week isolated quarantine, to assume no biological threat is posed to Dolgava or anywhere else. In the coming hours it is expected that the Dolgavan Prime Minister will address the nation, and make an official clear public statement on the ongoing biological warfare ongoing in Trigunia. With rumors showing that he will take a hard stace on bolstering Dolgava's presence in the Deliverance Pass and off of Hoomar Point. For now it is clear that Dolgava's intentions are to protect itself from the chaos in Trigunia, and that Dolgava will never again be hurt by brewing chaos in Trigunia! The Prime Minister, along with the Crown Princess were at his side to greet the Kalistani delegation when they The visit comes as Dolgava looks to rekindle its allies in the south. Dolgava and Kalistan at first had a rough history, riddled with differences in thoughts on privateering and ODEN, however for thousands of years now, Dolgava has been a constant friend of Kalistan, and has been a member of ODEN, specifically in the production of Psilocybin mushroom which are legal in Dolgava and exported through ODEN. Dolgava and Kalistan share many common goals including security and democracy for the region, as well as share royal diplomacy and prestige. For the Dolgavan Royal Family, this was a moment to really shine, and they not only did that, they shined while doing so. The Dolgavan Royals met with the Kalistani, officials before the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Karl Tamm before they were given a tour of the Dolgavan capital, along with the Dolgavan royal palace. After this Dolgavan and Kalistani officials spoke informally, but agreed to continue free trade agreements with each other, and spoke about regional military goals, and such. For Dolgava it was a productive summit, and one that proved the power of diplomacy, friendship and cordial relations. The Kalistani officials were also treated to a firework display, which lit up the sky of Aikums with a shower of fireworks. This marks a celebration of Kalistani-Dolgavan relations, and goodwill between the two countries. The real substance of the trip will be taking place in the coming days, when business leaders, as well as governmental officials will meet to once again establish close economic ties between Kalistan and Dolgava. For Dolgava, the Kalistani markets are an untapped opportunity to get Dolgavan natural resources once again flowing to Seleya, and for Kalistan, Dolgava is a good place for them to expand their markets of goods, especially manufactured goods. He announced victory, in Aikums surrounded by members of the party as they also celebrated the decisive victory. The results come to us from the Dolgavan Elections Bureau. The results are as follows
The DPP bumped up their vote share to 66.2% making this their highest vote share out of all of their three elections in which they have stood. Due to several factors, though they lost seats, specifically in urban and suburban centers, where the Conservatives and the Social Democrats poached seats from them. Regardless, the vote total was not even close, with 77.9% of the Dolgavan populous coming out to vote. ![[Image: oCe2Zaz.png]](https://i.imgur.com/oCe2Zaz.png) The election results were not always certain, as Jaanus has had increasing opposition not only from the old guard in the Conservatives, under the current opposition leader Sophia Hohenlohe. Hohenlohe has been an extreme hardliner against Trigunia, saying that they now pose a threat to peace and stability, throughout the entire region. The growing concerns toward national security, have overshadowed the ongoing domestic reforms being put in place by the Jogi government, something that has been surely an annoyance to him. The Conservatives were able to take back a few seats, raising their total to 50, which puts them in still an extremely undesirable state of affairs, but in a slightly stronger position nationally. However Jogi and his clear stance against the ongoing chaos in Trigunia, as well as his diplomatic negotiations with Egelion, Dorvik and Kalistan, have brought a broad wave of support continued in the DPP, with them now holding on to a powerful majority on Dolgava's parliament. The second opposition voice comes from the reemergence of the Dolgavas Sociāldemokrātiskā Partija (Dolgavan Social Democratic Party) or the SDP. The SDP is led by a relatively unknown labor activist in Noversk, Helgi Ruutli. She ran for Mayor of Noversk, this election cycle, and is seen as the the leader of the scattered political movement. The party at first polled well inside of urban centers, with them projected to be down only 5 points in the Aikums Mayoral Race for instance, however this honeymoon bump soon wore off, and their numbers, (hampered by very limited funding and campaigning), came out to be a minuscule 5.9%. To make matters worse, Helgi Ruutli, lost in a landslide defeat in the Noversk Mayoral race, with the DPP's candidate Medards Vītols winning close to 60% of the vote there. As for Aikums, the DPP, finally broke the up until now, last conservative stronghold, with Leopold Schwertfeger the DPP candidate winning 63% of the vote there. Jogi addressed the press from the shoulders of his fellow party members, as they hoisted him in the air in celebration saying Quote:We are bringing back prosperity and success for Dolgava, the national community sees us favorably again, and the Dolgavan people are happy! We have another mandate, and we will keep doing what we've been doing! We conducted an opinion polls on what issues matter to Dolgavans, these truly show the current state of affairs in Dolgava, and show us exactly why the DPP, remains a political titan in Dolgava, we conducted this poll on election day with 1,000 Dolgavans participating the results are as follows. They were asked "What current political issue, most matters to you". We further sorted these out by those who voted for each party in our poll. The results are as follows: Quote:National Security and Military Strength – 42% Currently among both Dairy Party, and Conservative voters, the biggest issues remain national security and economic development. Something that the Jogi Government has been clearly prioritizing and has made some of his most central campaign platforms. For the Conservatives, it will be hard to stop the continued momentum, however if things start to sour on the foreign policy front, or if chaos further escalates in Trigunia, it could create a sticking issue that could hurt Jogi, and his government moving forward. As for now, the Dairy Party has swept Dolgava leaving the Conservatives and the Social Democrats to figure out where to go from here.
