Opposition offers DDF alternative in PAX; Rainbow Coalition snaps back.

The cutting of the DDF has opened up public and political discourse immensely on the current Rainbow Coalition. With the CPX taking the initiative to bash the Rainbow Coalition, the biggest counterpoint to the Opposition has been "What's the alternative, we go into debt?". And it seems the CPX has looked to present an alternative to PAX, an alternative to the DDF that will help Dovani, prevent imperialism, and also ensure no debt crisis occurs. The so called "Dovani Commons Compact", looks to present an alternative that is fiscally achievable whilst also helping other Dovani states. While it still has to go through several committees to get to the floor for voting, should it ever be put up to a vote.

But what exactly is the DCC? The DCC looks to differentiate itself from the DDF by not focusing solely on financial aid. Instead, it looks to present material aid to Dovani nations and ensure all Dovani nations are equal, not just reliant on Xsampan aid. Whether it be technical engineers, builders, you name it. Under the DCC, Xsampa would send not just financial aid (which has been unfeasible hence the cuts to the DDF), but also mostly focus on material aid, and directly helping nations with projects. But when the conversation circled back to funding the DCC, it seems the opposition was prepared, proposing that the budget of the DCC be capped unlike the DDF,  which must be annually reviewed by PAX. Alongside this, clear deadlines. No more money black holes. Each project must ideally have clear deadlines, deliverables, and exit ramps. The DCC will largely focus on human capital, tech transfers, and long term development (via supporting education of workers and such). The biggest aspect of the DCC is to ensure that Dovani nations aren't reliant on Xsampa. If the project doesn't gain dual approval (from Xsampa or from the nation in question), it doesn't go through. It must include local stakeholders. The last thing needed is imperialism wrapped in red. For every project the DCC does, there must be a local domestic development. Labour exchanges, research grants, whatever.

The biggest questions asked by the Rainbow Coalition has been funding. And again, it seems the opposition did tier homework and came prepared. They've presented how the DCC will be funded, and proposed that it be funded via several methods. Instead of relying solely on taxation and surplus from the national budget, it will reuse some of the old DDF budget (of course, it still will be capped), but also opening the investment pool to other nations. Even if they contribute just a tiny amount, it means Xsampa doesn't carry it alone. Other methods of funding includes Solidarity Loans, which will encourage other nations to develop, and repay not in interest, but in goods. Alongside this, a voluntary bond program in Xsampa will be offered to Xsampans, should they want to contribute any amount of money they can, or want to, to the DCC. The biggest aspect that's cought attention is that other nations could theoretically invest into the DCC. Should other nations, or NGOs do so, this can free the burden off of Xsampa immensely. The biggest issue with the DDF was that it was ran like a welfare project. While the People's Committee of Human Development does great work, they should not be a model for foreign aid. The DCC will instead act as a co-development engine.

So far however, the Rainbow Coalition has been split. Sangtsa Dovani and some of the SLP have been supportive of working with the opposition and establishing the DCC. The EPP and DPP however have called for "Inwards Perfection", arguing that Xsampa did it's part, but it must focus inwards and prevent a debt crisis. With approval ratings being shaky, and the SWP being ready to call a motion of no confidence, the Reformist image that Yeshi has built is being shaken and questioned immensely. The only question is if it'll last.

DCC passes PAX; Rainbow Coalition fractures as government is narrowly upheld.

In a quick emergency vote on December 31st, PAX overwhelmingly voted in favour of replacing the DDF with the Dovani Commons Compact  in an overwhelming majority, with DPP assembly members breaking ranks and voting in favour despite Yeshi and other "Inward Perfectionists" going against it. As such, the DCC is now set to be established next week. The DCC may not be able to repair the damage the Yeshi Administration did to Xsampa's reputation in Dovani, nor will it repair the damage done to states reliant on the DDF. But, it will cushion them and perhaps in time, repair what was broken. As the CPX and opposition celebrate the passage of the DCC, many are left wondering; just what the hell was the Yeshi Administration thinking?

The damage to the DPP brand is nothing short of cataclysmic from this move. The carefully built up narrative of being moderate reformists, and not being liberal extremists was shattered in an instant. Socialist Modernism and it's image has been damaged immensely. Many thought the DPP recovered from its voting record (notably voting against the SHARE Act). Those thoughts were proven wrong. With approval ratings fluctuating between 61% and 54%, Xsampans are clearly not happy with the direction, with a direct poll on cutting of the DDF only having 7% of Xsampans in favour. While a vast majority will agree for reforming it, very few wanted it cut. For the DCC, over 82% of Xsampans support it, believing it to be a moderate acceptable, sustainable, compromise. Combine this with several resignations within the government, mostly from Sangtsa Dovani, and some SLP members and it's clear that the Rainbow Coalition is dead. The only reason the Yeshi Administration is still being upheld is because no one wants to risk instability by a snap election. But with the Rainbow Coalition dead, Yeshi's agenda is largely threatened and questionable.

Despite this however, many Xsampans have been supportive, or at the very least, willing to turn a blind eye to a motion of no confidence or even impeachment of Yeshi with several questions being raised about whether the DPP is even socialist or just liberal saboteurs. Some within the SWP have called for a constitutional investigation into the DPP but so far, those calls remain in committees. But it's clear public confidence in Yeshi and especially the Democratic Progressive Party is low or even outright dead.

SWP issues vote of no confidence; Snap elections scheduled for October.

The chaos that has been the Yeshi Administration has finally come to an end as the Social Workers Party would initiate a vote of no confidence against the Yeshi Administration, citing concerns over the ability of Yeshi to govern effectively. The move was instantly supported by the CPX, FLP, Sangtsa Dovani and even the SLP. With the EPP and DPP lacking the votes to counter it, it passed in a form majority. Yeshi will no longer be Premier of Xsampa. Snap elections will be held in October (but normal elections will be held in February of 5650). As such, campaign season is expected to occur over the summer. While we can discuss that, what we do know is this. The CPX is expected to make major gains whilst the DPP will suffer immensely. And what's certain is that there will be a constitutional investigation. Doubt has been raised on whether the Democratic Progressive Party is committed to socialism, and so, an investigation will occur once elections occur. The Custodian of the Democratic Republic, Comrade Pema will step in as interim leader. While not legally the Premier, she will guide the nation until October.

The Rainbow Coalition itself is going to come out of this harmed, but because the SLP and some of the EPP went against the DPP, they won't suffer too much from the public. But their association with the DPP is going to be a scar they'll need to carry for a long time. Sangtsa Dovani has drifted away from the Reformist Bloc because of this, and has joined the FLP and XFL in being a non aligned party, not aligned with the Reformist Bloc, or the Centrist Bloc. Yeshi himself will likely have no political career ahead. The DDF scandal is something that he, nor his party can really recover from. Most Xsampans vehemently disapprove of the Yeshi Administration, and Democratic Progressives have left the party en masse. 

It's been a chaotic year comrades, much less a chaotic administration, but this is a learning experience. A regretful one, but still a learning experience nonetheless.

Snap elections held as CPX prevail; As Comrade Rigzin pledges a return to normality, DPP barely survives the election.

The recent snap elections have come to an end with expected results. Many expected the CPX to make a comeback. And those expectations were validated as the CPX would establish a government, and establish a coalition with the SWP and FLP. With the CPX winning 241 seats, the SWP winning 47 And the FLP winning 43, this new coalition has a firm majority. But the main losers of the election came from the Reformist Bloc. The SLP would lose several seats, going down to 171. The EPP would suffer some damage and go to 51 seats. Sangtsa Dovani would lose a single seat and go from 8 to 7 seats. The Democratic Progressive Party however, would go from 50+ seats to mere 3 seats.

Already, the Rigzin Administration has pledged a restoration of normality, an apology tour to Bianjie and Utaristan, reinforcing Participatory elements within Xsampa, and a Constitutional Investigation into whether the DPP is committed to socialism or is a rogue party. With this being a shorter term than usual, no major commitments were promised but it's expected for the Rigzin Administration to do something major to better the nation. In any case, the future is looking bleak for the DPP. 

This election was a referendum on Socialist Modernism and the Democratic Progressive Party, and it seems the public has soured opinions drastically due to the DDF fiasco. We can only wish Comrade Ringzin a peaceful term.

Ever since the DDF was cut, the relationship Xsampa held with Bianjie and Utaristan took a hit. While still relatively cordial, no one can blame them for being upset. As apart of normalization, Comrade Ringzin has looked to begin an apology tour, looking to travel to Bianjie and Utaristan to not only apologize for the prior governments mistake, but also show Xsampa's commitment to good relations.

Comrade Ringzin has pledged that while Xsampa can't erase the reckless of abolishing the DDF and that the DCC may not make up for it entirely, Xsampa will continue to do its best to work with both states. Any developments regarding the DCC will receive immediate notification to Bianjie, and Utaristan. They are nations benefiting from the DCC, and cannot be left in the dark. Nor can they be left reliant on it. In any case, words alone do not dictate a good apology. Actions do. And Xsampa will need to work earnestly to make up for the prior administrations mistake.

Constitutional Investigation begins on the Democratic Progressives; Another nail in the coffin for the DPP?

Ever since the DPP lost election, it was clear that the party was suffering it's biggest scandal. Quite possibly the biggest political scandal in the Republics history. And so, there was little shock and even some celebration when it was announced that a Constitutional Investigation would be held on the fate of the Democratic Progressive Party and whether it upholds the socialist values of the constitution. The Investigation is expected to conclude by December. Should the investigation conclude that the DPP is not in breach of the constitution, they will be allowed to continue operating, but it's clear that public perception will disagree. If they are found to be violating the constitution and are legally deemed a capitalist party, then the courts will have the power to order the dissolution of the DPP. If they are found to have violated the constitution, the DPP will be granted an attempt to appeal and take it to the courts. In any case, the future for the DPP is bleak. Too bleak.

Cat culture is relatively well established in Metz-Leonid. At least with the cat cafes. Those of which have spread throughout Xsampa. But it seems it's taking another form as a new show has been making waves in Xsampa. It sounds simple but it captivates viewers by how adorable it is. It's simply a 24 hour live stream of kittens in a tiny house. It's adorable. And Xsampans firmly agree and love it. Before anyone raises a red flag in a negative way, yes, these kittens are taken care of well. Fortunately. The show, named "A Little Insight" has been adored by Xsampans. To our foreign readers, say what you will about Xsampans, say what you will about Xsampan politics, but you cannot deny that Xsampans simply adore cats in all shapes and forms.

Continuing the vision of the SHARE Act; Expanding accessibility to higher education.

The SHARE Act was monumental to say the least. In the past, higher education was incredibly cheap for Xsampans. But not fully free. The SHARE Act changed that, and made it fully free for every Xsampan citizen. Whether it be a local community college, a local trade school or something as prestigious as Metz-Leonid State University, the state would fully cover every single Peoples Tangka. But there is one issue. Accessibility. Physically. While the Xsampan Rail Network is capable of getting rural Xsampans to urban centers if they want to pursue a life there, it isn't enough. Good enough is not enough. Some Xsampans may be simply unlucky enough to be in a community far from the network. Others may not be in a situation to get immediate housing due to documentation issues. This is maybe good enough for a failure of a state. But for Xsampa? This is an insult. For Xsampa, this is not socialism. It is shackles with flowers put around it to look nice.

As such, several things. The People's Committee of Human Development will receive a new Sub-Committee. The Sub-Committee of Housing, Urban and Rural Development. The SCHURD will handle all affairs relating to housing in urban and rural communities. It will focus on ensuring every Xsampan, no matter what continues to have the inalienable right of a roof over their head guaranteed. So what does this mean for students? The SCHURD will work with that educational institution to find you housing immediately. As soon as possible. This ensures that the moment you arrive in the city, you will have a roof over your head. To reduce unnecessary paperwork, you will need to document residency in the city. This doesn't mean showing documents that you have a place there, just that you physically are in the community. Whether it be couch surfing, staying with a comrade, your parents, whatever. As long as you are physically within the city, you will be helped.

Next, rural students. Particularly for those not connected to the rail network. This is where another Sub-Committee comes into play. The Sub-Committee of Isolative Relocation. SCIR will focus solely on ensuring that Xsampans in hostile households, awkward situations, or unable to leave their community without issue are providing with direct state support to migrating. No Xsampan should have their future rejected because of circumstances. For Xsampan students looking to relocate, SCIR will do what it can to help students relocate easily.

These expansions to the People's Committee of Human Development will be vital to ensuring that Xsampa lives up to the ideals of socialism. To the ideals of the SHARE Act. They won't solve every issue immediately, but they'll start solving issues in time. And in time, Xsampa will move on from good enough. For now, the quest to ensure every Xsampan has a roof over their head, and that ever Xsampan gets a college level education continues on.

Expanding Participatory elements within Xsampa; Empowering the Proletariat.

Participatory Metzism defines Xsampa. Being the birthplace, home and sole Participatory Metzist state in Terra, there are always those who look to us for inspiration. Just as such, there are others who look for even the slightest bid of hypocrisy to paint the socialist experiment as a failure. The Yeshi Administration gave those who wish to see us falter, plenty of ammunition. And it seems Comrade Ringzin is looking to make amends. Polling quickly soured against the DPP and remain in the negatives, even with their investigation ongoing. But it's clear that something went amiss. 

As such, new reforms are coming through. Local Committees are responsible for electing representatives to their Canton Committee and the Canton Committees are responsible for electing representatives to PAX. But what happens when those community members disagree with what their CC Representative in PAX is doing? The only right thing. Withdraw the Representative and replace them with another who will adhere to the community's desires. As such, instead of having to wait until election season to recall a representative, any Local Committee can issue a vote of no confidence on their CC representative. And any CC representative can issue a vote of no confidence on the delegates they send to PAX to represent their Canton. This will ensure that every government has the will of the Proletariat. 

This will ideally ensure that representatives in PAX, Canton Committees and Local Committees act according to the interests of their community, not their party. As the public winds down and begins to move on from the disaster that was the Yeshi Administration, Participatory Metzism must be protected, expanded and preserved for Xsampa.

Investigation into the Democratic Progressive Party finishes; DPP declared to be compliant with Constitutional requirements.

Ever since the Yeshi Administration, many felt the DPP abandoned it's commitment to socialism. And when the snap elections concluded, a constitutional investigation was enacted to determine if the DPP had violated the constitution. After meticulous months, a conclusion has been reached. For what remains of the DPPs supporters, they can breath a sigh of relief as the DPP has been declared to be compliant with the Constitution. This means the DPP can continue legal operations as a political party and continue maintaining itself. The DPP has been deemed to not have abandoned socialism.

But, this is de jure. De facto, many Xsampans have firmly rejected the DPP, viewing it as a party too attached to technocratic ideals or even soft liberalism. For many Xsampans, socialist modernism is a failure, an ideology that attempted to make change in the worst way possible. Many Xsampans have been asked for their thoughts about the recent results and many have been firmly disappointed but welcoming of the results. But what's a firm consensus is that many Xsampans have said that they will not vote for the DPP in 5650.

The DPP continues on for another day, but not without major scars. As the SLP looks to put barriers up to ever cooperating with the DPP again, the Reformist Bloc shrinks once again, and many are certain that the DPP won't break out the 10 seat marker for a long time. Let alone ever enter government again.

Beginnings of Algae Farming; Expanding the definition of the Red-Green Revolution.

The Red-Green Revolution has largely been focused on the transition to green energy. While it's a noble goal, we cannot blind ourselves with one goal when it comes to the Red-Green Revolution. National parks have been, for example, a step in the right direction to protecting the flora and fauna of Xsampa. But it must be expanded. As such, the People's Committee of Wildlife and Ecological Preservation has moved to expand the definition of what is to be protected, and what is to be of national interest. Chief among these is Algae Farming. Algae farms are few and rare in Xsampa, and even rarer in Terra. But Xsampa will join the few nations that engage in algae farming. The benefits (besides producing new jobs) is largely allowing for the usage of biofuel, can help in restoring biodiversity to marine life within our waters in the Sovereign Sea, help in any potential oceanic acidification, and plus, it has practical industrial benefits such as domestic fertilizer bioplastics, dyes, paints and fabrics.

As such, the first step will be supporting the creation of Algae Platforms. These platforms will be vital for farming, growing and managing Algae. Marine ecologists will be involved in the construction of these platforms to ensure no harm is done to local wildlife or the environment. Furthermore, to both benefit the general Red-Green Revolution and power these platforms more easily, offshore energy buoys will be utilized, looking to exploit solar, tidal and wind power. They'll support water sensors, aeration pumps, and monitoring buoys. Those monitoring buoys in question will focus on water quality and oxygenation, algae growth rates, and ecological quality.

While this isn't a big step, it is a solid start. This is simply the start of Algae Farming, and developing a new industry. As such, we can't expect too much developments, but this is a solid start for the Red-Green Revolution to diversify beyond clean energy.

Campaign for 5650 begins; An independent dares to run.

Elections loom next February and many are expecting a victory for the CPX because of the DDF fiasco. But that hasn't stopped enthusiasm for various parties in running. Comrade Ringzin has chosen not to run, and as such, the CPX has instead looked to nominate current Peoples Commissar of the People's Committee of Economic Management, Comrade Thekchen Trottier, advocating for infrastructure developments, such as expanding the Xsampan Rail Network, highway developments, and continuing industrial modernizations. Focusing on not rocking the boat but providing enough change to captivate voters, the CPX is looking to run a relatively safe campaign.

The Socialist Labour Party has been licking its wounds since the Yeshi Administration imploded, and has been campaigning on the premise of expanding diplomatic overturns to various countries, rural commune development, and expanding the education budget. A bold, but restrained campaign. Comrade Khetsun Nepali was quickly nominated by the SLP and is looking to become the next Premier.

For the minor parties, while most Xsampans haven't forgotten the DPP and the disaster that they were, it hasn't stopped the minor parties from campaigning enthusiastically. The EPP has looked to surprisingly campaign with Sangtsa Dovani, calling for an ecological Pan-Dovani agenda, continuing the Red-Green Revolution en masse, supporting green movements across Dovani and expanding environmental protections. Being led by Comrade Norzin from the EPP.

The FLP, SWP, XFL and DPP are still worth noting (and legally we have to give them the spotlight) but have run a relatively orthodox campaign. FLP has ran on agrarian socialism, and supporting city farms. The Social Workers Party has ran on a conservative platform, looking to question existing Fair Trade Agreements with the West, and revoking the legality of marijuana. The DPP has more so been running an apology tour than a genuine campaign, trying to redefine itself and move on from Yeshi.

But the most surprising aspect of this election is an independent is running. An independent hasn't ran since the One Party Era, where those independents were still aligned with the CPX. This independent, Tenzin Fortier has chosen to run a populist insurgent campaign, calling for outproducing the debt, economic development across the country, and "protecting revolutionary sovereignty". Comrade Fortier has been eccentric to say the least. While most don't expect Fortier to win Premier, many expect him to enter PAX. But he has been quite controversial as opponents have called his campaign unserious. Others have questioned his ego and his patriotism for Xsampa. 

Whatever the case, we wish all candidates the best of luck. Whether it be the CPX, SLP or anyone else, this election will certainly be interesting after the Yeshi disaster.
