KALENCON gets green light to begin working on transition to Green Energy
Phase out date finally set for late 5224
Bozo River, Ananto
March 18, 5204
KALENCON DIrector Sigrid Phillips to oversee beginning of transition of Green Energy Grid
The day dreamed of long ago, where Kalistan transitions entirely away from Fossil Fuels and Hydrocarbons to generate energy has finally arrived. By the end of this year, The Government has required KALENCON, the Kalistani Energy Consortium that runs the various fusion plants across Kalistan, to oversee a full transition to renewable clean energy in the form of Fusion, Solar, Wind, wave, tidal and geothermal energy. The mandated transition shall last for 20 years and will incorporate a sizeable investment in infrastructure as well as research and development into both efficiency and storage and delivery that will lay the foundations for Kalistan's energy future.
The woman overseeing the initial stages of the transition, KALENCON's Sigrid Phillips has already began reorganizing the corporate structure of the energy Consortium to meet the new responsibilities it anticipates. "We are switching from generation mode into expansion mode," said Phillips. "By the end of June, KALENCON will have offices in each of the five duchies, as well as research labs based primarily in Ananto, which offer the best climates for the various new technologies we look forward to building and deploying, to include geothermal, which due to Ananto's volcanic pre-history, is an untapped potential that exists here alone in the Empire."
Phillips also noted that the Mandate permits her to begin working with foreign Energy providers and researchers. "Particularly promising is an opportunity to meet and collaborate with Dolgavan scientists and engineers," said Phillips. "We will be sponsoring an energy symposium here in Kaliburg this summer and will invite our Dolgavan Colleagues to attend. Hopefully this will be the start of a long and prosperous cooperation between us. It would be ideal if we could build a working regime for continued and regular cooperation, like an Anantonese energy Group for example, but at any rate it is our desire to share our technology with Dolgava at least, and see what they have to offer us in return."
KALENCON wants to also persuade Kalistan's main car company, Moco, to transition to a full EV fleet by 5215. "We will also need to work with KalMD on Batteries, both for storage of energy from renewable sources, but also more efficient batteries which are less lithium intensive, or utilize hydrogen fuelcell technology to operate them. These forms of efficient batteries will need to be build on a mass scale over the next twenty or so years if we are ever to have any hope of leaving hydrocarbons behind."
This is the final dawning of the new day for Kalistan, one that has been sought after by generations of Kalsitani environmentalists and successive Kalistani administrations. With work and perseverance, it will come to pass.

KALENCON brings new High Efficiency Solar Plant online North of Sweet Port
Spurred by positive growth policies, PV development and production is poised to take great leap forward
Sweet Port, Suldanor
July 8, 5204
First Cell of the new KALENCON Solar Farm 1 is in place
KALENCON has begun building solar power farms across Suldanor and Odufaray, which will form the backbone of Kalistan's new solar network following the passage of the Energy Strategy currently on the floor in the Assembly. Spokesperson for the Project, Melissa Brach, said "The first plant we are building here is on reclaimed farm land just south of the Sulari Hills, northwest of Sweet Port. The facility, when completed, will generate more than 450 MW of clean power a day and will cover about 3300 acres, or about 5.1 square miles." While this is a drop in the bucket compared to even just Sulari's 6500 MW a day demand, Brach noted that the Solar Farm will be one of several dozen spread across central and Northern Sulari and which will be built within the next ten years. "Additionally, we are using solar to add to an expanding list of energy creation options which includes expanded fusion generators, as well as wave and tidal generators, wind turbines and geothermal. This is just a start."
Environmentalists were quick to respond to the creation of such large energy creation facilities: "We like green energy," said Chris Fox, head of the Sulari Citizens for Green Energy. "But such large facilities will endanger migrations of animals over public land, and the creation of both photovoltaics and batteries to store electricity is certain to pollute the environment worse than the green energy helps it. Therefore, we do not think that the Government should be rushing into this, but should spend money at this point to develop cleaner and more efficient alternatives to battery storage and solar collection."
Brach, who was speaking for KALENCON noted cooperation with recent startups in Kalistan, especially the private firm "SolCo" (Kalsie:SCO) which is currently ramping up to provide photovoltaics at a very inexpensive costs. "We are exploring the use of the crystalline structure known as perovskite," said SolCo CEO Bob Marquis, "which is found in calcium-titanium oxide rich igneous and metamorphic rocks. It is one of the most common crystalline alkalai mineral structures in the Empire, especially in Ananto. It is easily extracted in abundance and can be imbued in a vinyl or resin solution that can be poured flat, and which is then bendable, rollable, durable, weather resistant, and inexpensively installable. We have found that perovskite film generates more energy from solar power than silicates do, is far less expensive to produce, and is more tolerant of defects than its more rigid cousin. As a result, we project that costs for the production of this, when ramped up to scale, will be about 10% of the standard costs for silicate photovoltaics and will allow the solar industry to take off." KALENCON is expected to sign a contract for PV cells within a year, dependent on the successful efficiency tests at the first Solar Farm in Suldanor.
"Ideally, we would also like to begin installing photovoltaics in the high rises of our cities," said Brach. "The Ministry of Science has expressed interest in exploring tax incentives for companies to replace their windows with photovoltaic glass, which companies like SolCo and another company in Vrassa named Pioneer Glasworks makes, that utilizes Photovoltaics in layered glass for industrial buildings. If we can get buy in from the real estate markets, we can encourage the building of self powering homes, to take houses entirely off the grid, and make our cities themselves producers of their own electricity!" This possible step is years away however, and will involve infrastructure building that is on a far more massive scale than the one which are currently in KALENCON's short range plan.
For the mean time, the Solar Farm, known as Farm 1, joins the limited and fairly expensive solar generator infrastructure that currently exists, which is on the verge of becoming much cheaper in the coming years, to add to Kalistan's move entirely away from hydrocarbon fuels. "Our biggest challenge in the coming years," said Brach, "is the battery to store power. Without batteries, it doesn't really matter how much energy is generated during the day, much of it will disappear as soon as the sun sets." KALENCON is working with KalMD on the question of energy storage, but as of now, there is no parallel news of any breakthroughs.

Empress Returns from Istalia
Monarch attended funeral of fellow Ruler and long time family friend Emperor Tommaso III
Kaliburg, Ananto
September 1, 5204
Elizabeth I, Empress of Ananto and Kalistan, returns via KalAir to the Capital following Funeral in Istalia
Empress Elizabeth I returned last night from the Empire of Istalia, where she, her personal staff and the Foreign Minister of Kaistan Robert Stuart all attended the funeral of fellow Head of State and close personal friend Tommasso III of Istalia on the 25th. The Empress, who rarely travels abroad except on personal holiday, attended as the Kalistani Head of State, while Stuart represented Her Imperial Majesty's Government. The small entourage flew KalAir to Romula Istalia, where they joined the Empress Mother Elisa, with whom she shared a long personal relationship, in mourning for the late Emperor.
The affair, which was a very solemn state affair in Istalia, was far more personal for the Empress. Tommaso and Elisa both welcomed Kalistan's own Emperor at the beginning of his reign when Tommaso was married, and the Kalistani royals regularly visited Istalia and had long shared high admiration for the Istalian Monarchs. The Empress Elizabeth remained for a week following the service to sit in mourning with the widowed Empress Elisa, and to share the grief of the now expired Emperor, before returning to Kalistan.
The Foreign Minister issued a short statement during the week in Istalia: "Our Empress, Her Imperial Majesty Elizabeth I of Ananto and Kalistan, has chosen to remain at the side of her friend, not as a fellow head of state, but as a woman who has held long correspondence and friendship with the Empress Mother. Elizabeth serves as a shelter of compassion and human warmth as the late Emperor is interred and the New Emperor is Crowned, and was at Elisa's side to wish the new Emperor Alessandro IV well and long life. Ananto shall continue to renew our personal relationship with the Istalian Crown, and we will welcome the New Emperor to visit Kalsitan as soon as his duties will allow him to visit."
Following the extended stay in the Majatran Nation, Elizabeth and the Foreign Minister returned to Kalsitan and were welcomed by a small throng of citizens who assembled to meet the Empress. She spent a short time speaking with the citizens at Kaliburg International, before bidding her well wishers farewell and returning to Eveari.

Ananto opens series of five High Temperature Geothermal Power Plants
KALENCON takes advantage of Anantonese thermals to power Island
SU River Facility, Ananto
October 8, 5206
The Su River Geothermal Plant, headwaters of the Su River in County Davon
North of Kaliburg, at the headwaters of the Su River, there is an interesting geothermal formation. It is one of many that dot the landscape of the Island. Under normal circumstances, these large clear pools of superheated water are treated as tourist destinations. They serve as the source of many of Ananto's rivers, cooling as they rush down the slopes of an ancient volcanic ranges of the Green, Davon and Xanadu Mountains that forms the backbone of the heart shaped Island. These hot springs are all that remains of the volcanic eruptions that formed the Island millions of years ago; the Volcanoes themselves are now heavily forested and are all extinct.
The Hot Springs may be remnants of the Island's geological past, but they are also serving to help power the future. At the Su River Springs, where the magma of the earth's mantle still rises close to the surface, KALENCON has opened one of five new facilities aimed at capturing the high temperatures in the water and using that to drive turbines to generate power. The Su River GtPP is the last of the five to open this month, completing its three year construction. The Plant, which will generate about 600 Mw of power a day will serve primarily Kaliburg- Port Davon and Dulnerstaad. Other Plants at Eveari River, the Six Sisters, Wilson Pass and Xanadu will serve Eveari, Bozo River, Dahriel, and Luxon and Xanadu respectively as well as the surrounding countryside, and will aim to lower the burden placed on the Fusion generators which seem to not be making efficiency gains needed to keep up with the growing demand for energy as the Island transitions away from hydrocarbons.
"We are glad to bring the Su River Plant online," said General Manager Carl West. "It is by far the largest of the five geothermal power generators on the island." West described the process of power generation at the Plant. "The plant is attacked to a deep well, drilled about 2-3 miles deep into a pocket of superheated ground water. This same underground reservoir naturally finds its way to the surface to create the hotsprings about three miles away. Usually the resevoir is replenished through rain water flowing in through cracks in the surface. BUt we pull the superheated fluid up and as it cools, it turns to steam. We run the superheated fluid through three separate depressurizing tanks here and each time it enters a new tank and cools, it releases steam. The steam drives those great turbines over there, and the steam itself is recondensed, combined with the now cool(er) geothermal fluid and it all runs over there where minerals are separated before it is pumped out of the plant and reinjected back into the reservoir to be reused."
The operation costs of the plant are anticipated to be paid for in recaptured minerals from the geothermal fluid. "In Ananto, we have calcites and silicates which can form some issues with our plant here should we supersaturate the resevoir by not stripping the minerals before reinjecting it into the reservoir. Luckily there is a market for these two minerals in Kalistan: The Silicates can be used to create microprocessors for consumer technology, and the calcium carbonate can serve as lime for the Republic's farms. In addition, we do receive marginal quantities of marketable minerals besides these two and we anticipate that at the current rate, we can satisfy a significant portion of domestic demand from our mineral separation operations." West noted that mineral extraction was important to prevent deposits from forming in the injection wells from mineral precipitation due to the cooling of super saturated geothermal fluid.
West noted that much of the operating cost of the plant comes with maintaining the pipes of the plant, but power generation and mineral recapture more than offsets the costs of operation. "Not only is this an absolutely clean, 100% renewable energy source which can heat and light whole cities, but it doesn't create any disturbance to the local ecology, it doesn't have any effect on surface water, and it doesn't disturb local wildlife. We create jobs for power plant technicians, and get to promote our green energy goals. There is only upside to these plants."
The five Geothermal plants produce about 2.65 GW of power a day, which is about 45% of Ananto's total demand plus reserve capacity. Geothermal is not available, however, for the Mainland, except in isolated spots in Neveras, due to the lack of geothermal formations close to the surface in most of the Mainland. It is estimated that one or two geothermal plants will be built in Neveras, but they will only supply about 20% of the duchy's total demand and reserve capacity.

Sulari folk rock group The Crowes plugs in
Releases New Album and with Acid drenched Psychedelic Rock Lead Single EMP
Sulari, Suldanor
April 18, 5207
The Crowes newest Single "EMP" talks about an allegorical thermonuclear detonation at high altitudes
Folk rock quintet The Crowes, who have long played the Sulari music scene, have switched up their style on their fourth record, released on ARC records. The New LP, titled "Interdimensional Travel" also signals a major shift in the emphasis of the band, in an attempt to broaden their sound and create music that is designed to be listened to, rather than to just have on in the background.
"We were primarily focused on talking about things that we don't hear about a lot in music," said lead guitarist and songwriter Bob Morrison. "Things that we ourselves have been blissfully unaware of for a long long time... The blinders are off, man. Did you know that there is free energy in the atmosphere, and we just have to harness the carbon molecule, and all this energy can be ours? What is carbon? Six Neutrons, Six Electrons, Six Protons. 666 it's alright there encoded in our molecules."
What is clearer than the group's new found philosophical ideas, many of which are explored in the lyrics of this album, is their new found appreciation for LSD. It is rumored that the band, who was famous for insisting on drug free shows, have done some serious experimenting with chemistry between the release of their last album four years ago and the release of their new one. "I think L has really done wonders for like our concept of modality in music," said rhythm guitarist and Lead Singer Dave Crisp, "where we can shift scales about on the guitars, come up with new chord arrangements, and make what seems like chaotic playing into something that makes sense in a weird sort of way. We took a lot of our new sound from jazz, where in previous albums we were leaning a lot on blues. And we experienced some different ways of making music when we visited Vascania last year on a pilgrimage. Which was wild. You can hear it in the tunes, for sure."
The new Album, and its lead single "EMP" have been a surprising hit since its release this week. EMP, which uses an allegory of an electromagnetic pulse which is released by the detonation of a thermonuclear weapon in the upper atmosphere and knocks out all electronics and communications technolog is supported by a strange black and white music video showing the group performing mostly in silhouette, though side lit randomly, producing a high contrast image of band members fading in and out of eerie shadows. Images of galaxies and constellations are overlaid to give the video a retro acid-rock stage feel. And words, sometimes nonsensical crawl across the bottom third of the screen as if the video is providing emergency information in the even of an actual nuclear explosion. "It's a hell of a video," said Crisp. "Kinda scary really. I mean, if I had a head for of acid and that video came on M7, I think I would lose my sh--..."
"We wrote EMP about using LSD," said Morrison, "about the feeling you get not only of absolute clarity, but also like that whole blackout sense of the modern world, like you are just in part of the Universe. Maybe you are floating in space, maybe you are exploding into a firework, maybe the lights don't work anymore. Maybe someone is yelling. Maybe 500,000 people are cheering. It's everything all at once for ten hours. Its sort of like an EMP, a nuclear bomb going off in the human mind, man."
"Interdimensional Travel" represents a major departure for the previous hippy dippy folk rock band, and signals a move into alternative rock. The record contains 12 songs, all of jangly, acid drenched music that discusses everything from nuclear detonation, to humans as batteries, to alien species at the bottom of the Strait. This concept record is both bizarre and very interesting, both from a musical theory standpoint as well as from an aural aesthetic perspective.
"Yeah, I mean, you can only play acoustic guitars so hard," said Crisp. "You can only get so much mileage out of 'flower people' and peace and love and seasons and pastoralism. In reality, this ain't who we are anymore. Our aim is to push the limit, to come up with new ways of seeing music. Of treating songs less like pop commodities and more like artistic compositions--we want our music to progress beyond verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus coda. Hopefully we will start working with other bands along these lines: there aren't many of them in Sulari. or anywhere really. But if we start something it will definitely be for the better."
One further thing that Morrison added: "We are definitely pro-drug, as a band. As a scene. I am betting you already knew that." Check out The Crowes' "Interdimensional Travel" on ARC today, and watch the Video for EMP right here or on M7 where it is currently in heavy rotation. Make sure you're straight when you do: you will thank us later.

Kalistani Foreign Minister meets with North Dovanian Military Military Head
Discussions include transferring F/A-10 designs and schematics
Kaliburg, Ananto
July 18, 5208
The Kalistani Variant of the F/A-10, originally developed with Indrala in 5098, is being produced once more in Gendaris
Kalistani Defense Minister Lt. Victor Newburg met with the State Secretary for Defense from North Dovani, Udegbulam Chinou earlier this year, where the two discussed cooperation on the recently resumed construction of the F/A-10 which was shelved after 5110, due to lack of concern for the armed forces of Kalistan. Kalistan, who has been of the mindset of restoring Kalistan's military, has begun taking steps to restart production of not only the F/A-10, which Kalistan designed in cooperation with Indrala's airforce before 5100, but also heavy artillery, infantry fighting vehicles, and various naval vessels which had been produced in the Republic, but have not generally been built since Kalistan established the Imperial Monarchy.
The F/A 10 is especially important, because it represents some degree of parity with modern aircraft in Kalistan. This fact most certainly drew the attention of the North Dovanis, who expressed interest in both working with Kalistan to increase security for both nations, as well as to begin sharing technology and building capacity for both Nations.
"We welcomed the North Dovani Secretary for the first time in February," said Minister Minister. "Our first meeting was preliminary, and more or less laid the ground for further talks. Upon his return to Kalistan we got further into discussions about how our two nations could work with one another. The F/A 10 was of interest, and when transferred, could represent a major step forward for North Dovani." In exchange for the the Kalistani variant of the F/A-10, which will be built primarily in the KALMILINCO factory in Gendaris, there is the possibility of joint naval design, as well as a strengthening of diplomatic ties.
"Kalistan doesn't believe in proprietaryism. We have no problem at all sharing our technology, and no interest in refusing to share it with any other nation. There are some nations who will object no doubt, because it is in their interest to keep themselves relatively stronger than other nations around them, but Kalsitan's interest is to undermine the notion that science and technology should be able to be denied to anyone. We would hand them the blueprints, but cooperation between Kalistan and North Dovani is more in Kalistan's interest, especially if it leads to cooperation on weapons we want and need in the future. Objections and the world order can be damned."
While North Dovani's engineers learn how to build the Kalistani Fighter, Kalistani engineers plan to travel to the Northern Republic to help North Dovani build a factory to KALMILINCO's specs, to begin producing the plane there as well. Kalistan expects to provide most of the avionics for the Dovani produced models at the start, and then as North Dovani gains that expertise, KALMILINCO expects to step back.
Kalistan expects similar offers for other Kalistani technology in the near future, including fusion tech and the newly mass produced perovskite Photovoltaics from SolCo in Suldanor which are built in malleable sheets rather than rigid panels, which are now rolling off the assembly lines. These technology transfers are expected to increase international opinion of the Empire, and improving our nation's standing among our neighbors far and wide.

Acid Rock Superground Mica's Time Machine hits top spot on Album Chart
Kaliburg adds its mark to the prevalent sound of Kalistani Music
Kalibug, Ananto
October 5208
Acid rock stars Mica's Time Machine brings psychedelic sound to Kaliburg
As Acid Rock sweeps the venues of Suldanor and Ananto, the first major acid rock band from Kaliburg, the supergroup Mica's Time Machine have hit the top of the Radio 1 Album charts. "Selected for the first time in the poll's history as the most popular record in Popular music, Mica's Time Machine's "Death in the Theater" announces Acid Rock's dominance in the markets," said spokesman Frank Xavier.
Formed of the remnants of several hard blues and rock bands in the Capital area, MTM (as they are also known) represent the collaboration of Ananto's best rock musicians. Featuring band leader Greg Buzz Trist (previously of the Willy Furious Blues Band) on Bass, the band also features Tommy Howard of Orange Lemmon on Lead, Blackie Smith from the now defunct acid jam band Glassbottom and Phillip Tomas of Creature performing rhythm and percussion duties (with Tomas also doubling as keyboardist), Britt Druthers Carruthers, who still plays with Green Haze on drums and new comer Antonia Tiegland on vocals.
"We have a solid blues background," said Trist. "But I think it was Blackie who suggested that we all get together an build this band, which was as much blues rock as it was psychedelic. We wanted a different sound than some of the other things we were doing, and the other bands were more or less all guys. So We were jamming one day, trying to work out some songs I think at Tommy's place and his girlfriend at the time had this friend who was Toni, and we thought maybe she could sing a little so we told her to come in, and she just blew our minds. She's got a lot of soul."
Tiegland, who is only 19 has never been in a band before MTM, but her songs are viewed are some of the best on the record. "She's got this voice, especially when she is singing with Tommy," said Xavier. "Their voices go really well together. She'll sing and he'll answer. They have a lot of chemistry on stage, and she was what the band needed to take them into superstar status."
The new Mica's Time Machine album "Death in the Theater", which is a concept record about what goes through the minds of people a moment before they burn to death in a theater fire, contains a lot of darkness, and regret, and some songs are really a bummer, but indeed, there is also a lot of forgiveness, exaltation, and love found on the record too. It's fairly light in social commentary, but it does contain a few protest songs. "We wanted to more or less represent protest against futility," said Tiegland. "Like, instead of saying protest is futile, we wanted to protest futility: the human will to survive even against insurmountable odds. All these people die in the end, but surely there is at least one person who will rage against that til the end. That guy makes me kinda proud."
Despite their roots in blues, MTM's music is almost pure psychedelia. "We take the blues, and we find that playing the blues, as jazz musicians, with different scales and modality and all that, it sounds really trippy," said Trist. "A lot of times, I will get into a riff, and the rhythm and drums will build on that, and then the lead will you know, do its thing, you know, like doing this thing that he calls comet stuff, and Toni will often write the lyrics on the spot." Trist admits there is a lot of LSD that goes into the music. "We have to be frying, both when we're writing and when we're playing. A 2 track tape recorder is a must, but unfortunately a lot of tape is wasted because, you know, after a while, we sort of lose the thread. But we'll listen to a lot of these explorations and they'll become the basis for our songs."
"Death in the Theater" the Number 1 Album in Radio 1's weekly poll, is now available at all record stores and on all streaming services. Mica's Time Machine advises listeners to take a lot of drugs before listening, preferably Acid or Mushrooms, and settle into the trip before starting the record. It will certainly influence the listening of the album.

Emperor David I Ananto Officially Crowned
Elizabeth quietly retires and adopts title Princess Elizabeth, Countess of Luxon
Kaliburg, Ananto
September 9, 5209
The end of an era has arrived at last in Kalistan, as has the beginning of a new one. The first Generation of the the Imperial Family has now fully left power and the generational transition has taken place. This represents the first peaceful generational transfer of Sovereignty in thousands of Years.
In a small, private ceremony, at the Imperial Seat on the Mall in Kaliburg, witnessed by the Government, all remaining Institutionalist deputies, Dukes, counts and Grand Mayors from across the Empire, Grand Duke of Kalistan, His Royal Highness Thomas Gutierrez and a few select family friends, the Empress Elizabeth I quietly read the Proclamation of Abdication in favor of her son, 52 year old David. The proclamation, reported out, simply said, "I, Elizabeth, Married to the House Ananto, Empress of Ananto and Kaliburg, do formally abdicate sovereignty, and transfer all power, honor and titles at my disposal to my Son, David to rule as His Imperial Majesty, Emperor David I Ananto from this day forth."
Following the reading of the proclamation, the former Empress then stepped down from from the Dias, handed the Imperial Crown to the Acting PM Gina Fernandez, and moved to the side as David stepped forward and the crown was placed on his head. At this moment, David was now Sovereign of Kalistan. He did not make a speech: instead, he bestowed on his mother the title "Her Imperial Majesty, Princess Elizabeth, Countess of Luxon". He then destroyed the title "Duchess Consort: and bestowed the title of "Her Imperial Majesty Empress Katherine I, Empress of Ananto and Kalistan", naming her co-Sovereign, and declaring her his first heir. This follows the tradition of Fredrick I and Elizabeth. David then confirmed the title of Grand Duke of Kalistan on Thomas Gutierrez, and commanded Fernandez to form His Majesty's Government in the Assembly.
Elizabeth now goes into retirement, and will continue to serve in a diplomatic capacity as long as she is able, representing the Crown abroad when the Emperor is unavailable, and speaking on behalf of the Crown in all foreign affairs to which she is official envoy. Elizabeth, 86, still retains a love of travel and looks forward once more to returning to the Empire of Istalia, where she maintains a home.

Following Coronation, Wellwishers hold spontaneous Street Parties in Kaliburg
"Coronation just an excuse for mayhem" says old people
Kaliburg, Ananto
Septemebr 10, 5209
Several large celebrations, such as this "royal themed" event turned into night of rioting in Capital
Following the coronation of Emperor David I Ananto and Empress Katherine yesterday, thousands of citizens of Kaliburg took to the streets, public parks and music venues to celebrate. The Coronation, which ended nearly 1 Ananto Local time, was followed immediately by the first public demonstrations, which began to form on Mall in front of the Imperial Seat soon after the new Emperor arrived. The demonstration was non-violent, but did involve copious amounts of alcohol, royal costumes and loud music featuring Acid Rock band Mica's Time Machine.
Elsewhere, demonstrations in celebration of the Coronation shut down traffic for house as throngs of people marched about, singing songs, laughing, and roaming in groups ranging from 50- 6000 in some counts. Some were headed to concert venues to listen to impromptu shows, some were not. As the night wore on and the demonstrations and rowdiness continued, some of the groups began destroying property. There were reports of property damage all across the Capital, from Chancellory to Zappa City, Lolla and Gallo, and even some vandalism on campus of Kaliburg Republican. Most of the destruction was alcohol fueled, rather than politically motivated, and the property damage was estimated to be in the tens of thousands of Rubles.
Disturbances had generally died down by sunrise, as people slowly filtered home and the bands began putting away their equipment away. By Noon today, there were only isolated reports of interventions by the police. Many old people dismissed the disruption, calling the coronation "just an excuse for mayhem" but for the most part, people in the Capital shrugged the night's anarchy off and chalked it up to youthful exuberance.

Istalian Navy Arrives in Kaliburg
Floatilla visit accompanied by music fest, military review; Princess Elizabeth Luxon to visit Istalia in August
Kaliburg, Ananto
October 15, 5209
Imperial Standards are flown as members of the Kalistani Regular Navy await the arrival of the Istalian Flotilla at Davon
The Empire of Ananto and Kalistan welcomed Istalian Crown Prince Nicola Alessandro to Port Davon this week, who was stationed aboard the Destroyer Impetuoso, along with the rest of the fleet from the Empire of Istalia, who are currently touring ports in Majatra, Seleya, and Dovani. The fleet transited the Southern Limit, escorted by elements of the Third Fleet of the Kalistani Regular Navy, and entered the Ananto Strait, making port at Port Davon in the Capital three days later. There elements of the 1st Fleet fired a full Salvo over Davon Bay to welcome the visiting dignitaries.
Formal Naval ceremonies commenced as soon as the Istalian Fleet docked, with Captain Theodore Alvarez, of the Ontiveros-Class KRS-2034 Cypress welcomed the Istalian VIP's aboard and gave a brief tour, as well as a Service Bravos inspection on deck. The Istallian Crown Prince was then greeted by His Imperial Majesty David I Ananto and Empress Katherine, who were accompanied by Naval staff to a reviewing stand at the Docks. Both enlisted and officer components of both naval forces conducted a parade and Review for the Royal personnel, assembled Naval Staff, and invited Kalistani Civilian guests. The Istalians also included the military hardware in the parade.
Following the Parade, the Emperor of Ananto and Kalistan presented The Crown Prince the Kalistani Medal of Comity, and declared the Crown Prince "Friend of Kalistanis" in honor of the long standing friendship between the two royal houses. The Istalian Crown Prince was then invited to address the assembled troops, and the speech was translated for the Vrassan Speakers.
Following the Review, Commanders placed all enlisted members at liberty, while the Officer Corps were encouraged to fraternize over dinner, entertainment and libation. The Emperor and Crown Prince were joined by the Princess Elizabeth, who was eager to renew her friendship with the Istalian royal family. Elizabeth announced that she would be vacationing in Istalia in August, and was eager to visit the rulers of Istalia.
Meanwhile, the Enlisted members paired up with Kalistani enlisted men who proceeded to show them around the town, including a major concert which was organized to celebrate the Istalians' visit. Headlining the Concert was the blues rock band The Smoke Brothers, from Yoshimi, who played hard rock and blues jams late into the night. The concert was supported by Mica's Time Machine, whose new single Acid Eater is currently climbing the charts on Radio 1's poll, and Sulari Hip Hop act Leprachaun Crew, who performs primarily hard core boom bap hip hop. Kalistanis were under strict orders to not pass Istalians any ODEN products or use them while on liberty, given that it is uncertain whether that sort of intoxication is permitted by Istalian Naval Regulations.
Kalistani civilians were not under such orders, and regardless of military regulations, there was plenty of the National Product at the show that night.

The next day, as enlisted members were touring the island of Ananto or hanging out in Kaliburg, Kalistani engineers and business community members visited with their Istalian counterparts to see the various innovations that the Istalians brought with them. Moco executives and engineers were impressed and took notes on the electric automobiles Istalians brought with them; foundations for cooperation were laid. Meanwhile, KALMILINCO designers were similarly impressed by Istalian troop transports and infantry Fighting vehicles. There were some overtures of cooperation between the Kalistanis and the Istalians, though any formal arrangements would necessarily happen on a separate visit.
In all, the Istalians stayed in port for three days total, before heading on to Lourenne, with messages of fraternal greetings from Emperor David I. The visit was a remarkable advance in relations between both nations, which to this point were primarily personal in nature. As the two empires grow closer, there will certainly be more opportunities for cultural, diplomatic and commercial exchange. The general consensus was that the Istalians were excellent guests and are welcomed back to Kalistan any time.
