The King abdicates, Aeris II to establish constituition soon

Melikvan -- thousands gathered on the Main Square after the Royal Palace had issued the statement of King Arham abdicating due to "health concerns" and "a wholehearted willingness to let the new generation of Pontesians lead our nation into prosperity". It is clear though that the abdication is a direct ramification of the political tension that has been growing in Pontesi for the last months, reaching its climax with an indefinite strike declared by the workers of "Merdengaard Kapyor Program", the countrie's largest copper mining company in the country. The protests, led by labor union members (whose rights got severely restricted under King Arham's rule), as well as students and intellectuals, did not explicitly state that they wanted the King's adbication, but rather the reverse of his reactionary reforms. 

 His son and the new monarch Aeris II hastened to appease to the people, declaring that he is soon planning to invoke the Constituiton used by the country before the installation of the absolute monarchy. Under this constituiton, the elections in Pontesi will once again be free and equal, with a 300-seat Senatus being the only chamber of Pontesian parliament, and the King having the absolute veto right that cannot be overrided by Senatus, as well as the right to pass acts during the time of national emergency without parliament's approval. Adressing the country, King Aeris II promised that he will not use his powers to stop 'social and political reforms', but on the same time "won't let anyone undermine the core principles of our society". Even though some groups raice concerns about the possibility of future monarchs obstructing the work of the legislation, the majority of protestors were content.

 

 King Aeris II recieved education at University of Constantine in Hutori, majoring in Geography. According to his diploma published online, he was a diligent student, recieving A's and B's as his final grades. The insiders in the Royal Palace told us that the King is viewed as a liberal (in terms of ultra-conservative system created developed by his father), compassionate and empathetic man, open to loosing the grip on Pontesi society. The rumors say that he was directly involved into the abdication of King Arham, warning that the protests may turn into a bloodshed and the economy may collapse if he does not step down. King Aeris is also believed to somewhat sympathize with isolationist ideas shared by conservatives and nationalists who believe that Pontesi shouls stay away from the international community and distance itself from 3PF.

 The elections that will take place on June 17th, will sure determine the course of Pontesian development for years to come.

The Grand Coalition collapses; snap elections to be held soon

Hortus — The political crisis that has been growing in the governing coalition of SDK (Social Democratic Party) and the conservative AEA (Freedom and Justice) for several months has met its climax yesterday, when urban development minister Hayrabed Mikaelian resigned in protest of SDK plans to draft a legislation raising the minimum wage. Although the “Grand Coalition” of two parties has been ruling the country for almost 12 years, the divide between them has been growing visibly, especially on issues of social legislation. After the “Worker's Bill” was passed by the legislature in 5576, ensuring minimal safety standards on factories and guaranteeing the right to form labor unions, no further reforms were planned until Prime Minister Mamigon Avetisyan announced plans to raise minimum wage from 5,25 to 8,5 PON. This move has caused opposition by the conservatives, with the leader of the party Arnag Assarian accusing prime minister of being a political chameleon.
 This caused several conservative ministers to resign, ultimately leading the king to dissolve parliament and call for snap elections. This move was met with understanding, considering the gridlock that has been forming in the legislature for the last two sessions. “They can't quite agree on many things”, a political analyst from Majatra university Ovsanna Gevorgyan told us, “the coalition was formed to help transition the country to democracy, but it was never meant to live for long. It's quite impressive that they were able to work together for 11 years <...>, but this outcome was inevitable.” 

Smaller parties see potential gains from snap elections, expecting voters to trust them over the major two parties. In the memos send to the members of the progressive party, irs leadership of the Asxatankayin Xowmb (Worker's Group) calls its members and volunteers to start campaigning alongside with the working class and farmers, informing people about “the ineffectiveness of the government that has used our nation for its own greedy interests”.

New Political party rise amidst political chaos. "Its time for a new pontesi where the people rise with it"

After nealry 20 years of political chaos and instability, between AAK, ZM and Arevi Miasin, a new party arises. Nor Vahak, a new party that wants more regulations in the economy and the workplace, but also for payable healthcare, payable education and more democraty. Our reporter of the day has invited Vahran Azeryan, so we and our reader can get to know him.

R: Welcome Vahran, its a challenging time for a new party to start, amidst all this chaos. First of all i want to ask you something else, before we really start, how does a person who graduated with ecomy and politics, end up working for a buscompany?

VA: It was unexpected, i graduated at the university of Melikvan with a degree of economy and politics as it intrested me much at that time. When i graduated, i found work at Smallovsky Capital, i worked a year and half at a desk, looking to numbers, finding investment possebilities. It was boring, wasn't for me. Also Melikvan is a really busy city, i heard the jokes of my grand-parents still in my head, At Melikvan, where the cats can sleep, but when i got there, it was so busy, always in a rush and you couldn't enjoy you're lunch or coffee, then i remembered that my grand-parents didn't go out anymore and didn't go to Melikvan for decades. Also for a city that busy, you could expect that the public transport was on point, but never was i that wrong. I went back to Livianakert, my town where i grew up, talking to a friend who eventually jokes about an opening as busdriver and i went for it. Thats how i ended up being a busdriver.

R: Intresting, with all the proposals i have seen in the campaign, like more regulations in the economy, healthcare and workingplace, aren't you scared of being labeled as a communist and the danger it could possebly bring with Pontesi's history?

VA: No, we aren't communists, we want an honest Pontesi, where basic needs, needs that are needed to stay life may add, are regulated, to give at least a choice and that every has the oppurtunity to be at least be able to eat or drink or warm themself up. Either have basic needs, like electricity, basic food and water have a decent price and is payable by everyone in society. A minimum wage is a long overdue effort that the governement always failed to do. I think the lowest salaries in Pontesi are at 500 PSD, wich isn't enough to live, so yes a minimum wage is a neccesaty for the good of our people. I mean, i know in the past Pontesi and others have complained about Xsampa and others about how they aren't free, but their people can afford to go to a doctor or buy food. Working should be rewarded and the exploitation should end, rather yesterday then tomorrow. They may label me a communist, wich i'm not, i went into politics to help pontesi grow and now its time for a new Pontesi where the people grow with it. Also we need to start intervening in the workspace as people are working to many hours on a day and it is becoming unsafe, and the governement should be responsible to intervene, so companies could be held responsible.

R: That is fair, how about Defense, it seems also an important subject for NV, what are you're plans?

VA: Defense is mather of the state and so should be the defense industries too. The governement needs to invest in their own defense industries to ensure the safety of the weapons and whom they are sold too, but also as it improves our own economy and increases our supplies, it makes us independant and stronger. Defense is an important factor for Nor Vashak and we will keep investing in our military, navy and airforce, but focus more towards training of personnel and our own industries.


R: I am not sure if read it right, but would you end the monarchy?

Yes, i would! First of all it isn't a democratic process and second, why should be one person unchosenly be the head of state? We have seen how it ends up with the Peninsulan war with Istalia, with a democratic process, it would never have been! A nation should evolve and we standing still in a self created trafficjam, while everyone else is passing us by. 

R: Thank you for you're time, i think we have enough for now, i wish you luck and succes into the next election in August.

After 77 years after completion, last appartment of Arevis's first district has been sold!

The last appartment of the first district of Arevis has been sold, the news lifts some pressure on Seralon Holdings, the real estate and building company of this huge project, but it also appears that where wrong with the numbers, as they stated in 5585 that there was room for 100.000 people, while in fact there are 65.000 people living in it. They forgot to calculate the buildings that where made for offices, shops, services, etc... 

The Last condo has been sold to a Pontesian family who have become the 65000th citizen, you could hear the sigh of relieve by afar, CEO Merine Arekelyan has stated that her precessors worked around the clock to get the job done, but it has finally finished, after only 77 years of marketing. It was a difficult project, wich needed a lot of funds and was delayed by the peninsulan war, but it was archieved. She also responded with that it is uncertain on when they will start with next district, as the need governement approval and they need to recover from last few years, while also starting other projects like a shoppingmall in Nakhater.

Elections: Nor Vahak wins the election surprisingly, while Arevi miasin loses big time.

The elections have passed and we know who will get the responsebility to form a governement and lead Pontesi. The analyse is clear, the Royal party has lost nearly all its voters and trust of the people, while the new party Nor Vahak (new mandate) has won with a clear margin, wich proves what the Pontesian wants. Vahran Azeryan, chairman of NV, hasfollowed the results in the headquarters in Livianakert, his hometown. When the final results came in, the room exploded with cheering and happiness, while in the HQ of Arevi Miasin (together for Arev) in Melikvan, you could hear a needle fall, the shock is great and chairman Arman Arakelyan has already congratulated the winner, while also announcing that he will resign from his position. At AAK, they seem to be happy with the result, as they expected to lose, but are relieved they have managed to reduce the to 4,7%, instead of the 8%. 

Nor Vahaks chairman was delighted with the result and gave proudly a speech to his supporters and militants.

I have no words for what is going on, i didnt expect to win, i wanted it, but never expected it. I want all of you to know that i am thankfull for the confidence, but i'm also starting to think you dont like me that much, putting me into all of that work Looks at the crowd while laughing I am sorry, the election hasn't improved my humor. Now, the real work has come to start build a Pontesi to grow together with its people and when i say the people, i mean all the people. It is time for a minimum wage, so everyone is able to pay their bills and buy food, it is time for decent and affordable healthcare, to cut the price of basic food and also for regulations in working hours, so that work/life balance is back at a healthy balance. It is the governements responsebility to make sure the people can have a decent life, and a choice. Those 4 proposals are our main priority, but do understand, with the multiple difficulties Pontesi is facing, we need to do this in stages, but i have the uttermost confidence in our party and their members. From tomorrow we will start with the negotiatons and carry the burden this election has given us. NOW, WE CELEBRATE!

A new coalition, one of hope?

Melikvan- A new coalition has formed between Nor Vahak (new mandate) and Zogho Miutyun (Democratic union), the 2 delegations brought testerday evening the news outside, calling it the coalition of hope. One of the main topics was a setting up the first stage of the minimum wage, but also discussed the power of the royal house. Also a topic was defense policies, apparantly NV wants to invest in the military, but not how it has been in previous legislations, abolishing the obligated inscriptions and investing in its own defense industries.

After 3 months of negotiating NV and ZM have found common ground and agreed on a program. What we know of the program is that the coalition will set up 3 steps towards a proper minimum wage and the last step will be in 5670 towards a 1250 POD a month. Also raising the coorporation tax towards 20% and opening the economy for foreign companies, but also setting up a economic commission who will overlook all companies in obeying the rules and laws. Also a remarkable proposal is cuuting in salaries and personnel of ministers and members of parliament. Healthcare will receive a safetynet, untill the governement has ability to totally nationalize it. Cutting in the powers of the Royal house, an important subject for the NV, is on the table. As Defnese was an important subject in the campaign of Nor Vahak, the 2 parties agreed in cutting the budget by 1,5%, but use that money to invest in Pontesi's own defense industry and apparantly evena university focused on formations needed for military, navy, airforce and the industries. Hoping to cut the reliance of Pontesi to other nations.

We have a coalition, one of hope and as you may already ahve heard, it will be one of hope for all people. Pontesi is facing multiple problems, domestic and international wise. We are in need of a coalition that dares to face them, where the worker of Pontesi will finally be rewarded. Also we urgently need to cut into the powers of the royal house, putting the military, airforce and navy under governements control, it is the only way for a better and safer Pontesi. Healthcare will not be a product of capitalism and it will be used for what is it was invented, for the health of our people. Our foreign diplomacy will also change, will will put all efforts in to make diplomatic friendships, instead of trying to put fear into other nations. I am hopefull for our future and our work together. Let's go!

Melikvan- The new coalition has worked hard lats 2 month to get their proposals ready. The first steps of the coalitions plans have been been set in motion. A new dawn for Pontesi if we may believe Chieftan Vahan Azeryan. A minimu wage of 750 POD a month, wich increases the lowest salaries with 250 POD. Also is Lilit Gastyan, minister of health and social policy inviting the top 5 employers to sit together to discuss possebilities in workers regulations and safety.

It has been a long time that it has been this busy in parliament. A lot of proposals went true parliament, most of the proposals where more symbolic as the NV and ZM have a strong majority with nearly 60% in parliament, but they also have found the 2/3 majority needed for decreasing powers of the king and the decrease the funding of the royal house. 

One of the economical changes is the minimum wage, it has been set on 750 POD, wich increase the lowest salaries for at least 250 POD, it is the first stage towards the 1250 POD goal of the NV. Another proposal is raising the coorporation tax to 20%, wich brings new money towards Pontesi for their new projects. The are also cutting in expenses, but not om levels you would expect. They have decided to cut in salaries of the ministry, parliament and in personnel, by lowering the salaries with 40%. Also have they agreed on opening up Pontesian economy for foreign companies, as long as they respect Pontesian laws, rules and culture, everyone is welcome.

Lilit Garkyan, minister of health and social policies has invited the 5 biggest employers of Pontesi to sit around the table to discuss new and better conditions for the Pontesian workers. Phogos Gevondyan, CEO of Derovyan L&T, Karl II Thaller CEO of Thaller-Siran, Sextus II Clodius of Clodius-Babayan, JoëLL Smallovsky CEO of Smallovsky Capital and Merine Arakelyan CEO of Seralon Holdings have all agreed to attend the meeting. 

Parliament voted in favor of aboloshing the VETO-right on governement proposals of the king and have taken away the control of the defense departments of the king, Chieftan Vahan Azeryan was delighted that parliament agreed with decreasing the control of the royal house as he said I am very happy, it is better that such riskfull department of a nation is put in the hands of a instancy that is limited by laws and a parliament instead of putting it in the hands of a rancune of one man, we all have learned what can happen. 

Yonah Sargsyan, minister of defense, also is happy with the his proposals been approved by parliament. Decreasing the defense budget to 3%, wich free's 1,5% that will be invested in Pontesi's own defense industries. In the proposal was also banning privately owned defense industries as defense is a state mather. Pontesi also abolished the obligated inscription, Yonah Sargsyan our minister of DEfense believes that the choice of inscription gives more motivated soldiers who will want to imprive their abilities and even will create more loyal soldiers.

Melikvan- Satenik Davtyan, the minister of foreign affairs, has organised a press conference at the eshador in Nakhater distric in Melikvan, in respond to recent events in the migrants pass. Apparantly the octagone, the Pontesian command of the military and communicator with the 3PF, has stated that it agreed with the recent actions of Amudim, wich isn't totally true, if we may believe the minister of foreign affairs.

Satenik Davtyan: 

Welcome everyone, we have organised this conference to inform you what is happening and has happened. Lodamun has taken down a Amudim ship, we dont fully know on why, we only see that Lodamun has been challenging the 3PF for years now, wich brings instability to our region, but why does it need to challenge the 3PF and the migrants pass. We condemn every sort of unnecessary violance and this was defenitely just a showdown by Lodamun, wich inflicts damages and endangers our own people, soldiers, navy and trade that passes true the Migrants pass. However, even though what has happened is horrendous, we do ask ourself on why Amudim is still projecting into Terra, is a naval base in Vascania really needed, wich invites this kind of conflicts into the migrant pass too? For now, Pontesi will not take military actions towards anyone, but we do however want clarity on the why's and for that reason i invite Amudim and Narikuton&Darnussia to sit around the table with us to ensure we are still on the same table. It also proves that a decent and strong 3PF is still needed.

Chieftan Vahan Azeryan in talks with CEO of Thaller-Siran
and house of Mazdagar and announce a new project.

Melikvan- In february it was announced that the governement will nationalise all defense industries and invest in new companies that will grow Pontesi's own defense industries to decrease the reliabelity of Pontesi on others. CEO of Thaller-Siran Karl II Thaller isn't happy with the news as it would mean he would stop producing the Ardziv Dome, he is furious as it is a prestige project of Thaller-Siran. 

Chieftan Vahan Azeryan has announced last week that it will sit down with Karl II Thaller and Raffi Mazdagaryan of the house of Mazdagar tot alk about the governement taking over their companies, as Vahan Azeryan wants a smooth and honnest transition.

 After some back and forth, they have agreed that thaller-Siran and the house of Mazdagar both will receive 650 million POD for their companies that make military equipment. Karl II Thaller and Raffi Mazdagaryan both where satisfied enough to have a decent compensation for their company.

After the conclusion of the 2 companies, the governement announced a huge new project outside Mamlakert. The governement is making a new Disctrict where all defense industries will come, wich will also be heavely secured. The 2 bought companies will remain functioning where they are located now and when the buildings in the new district are ready, they will move and produce in the new district. Also have they announced that they will build 2 new defense companies in the district, one munition plant that will manufactor munition for artillery and infantery, grenade launchers, rockets, etc, while also building an optics, electronics and drone factory, these are the first 2 steps of the plan that the governement has created for their defense industry. 

The project will be build by Seralon Holdings and other smaller construction companies, but will be heavely overlooked for safety and security risks by the governement.
