Minister for Culture Janet Simmons (right) Announces Poet Laureate of the Empire, Ms. Marguerite Hendrickson (Left)
Minister of Culture Names National Poet Laureate
Her Imperial Majesty's Minister for Education and Culture, Ms. Janet Simmons announced that House Ananto has endowed a new Position of Poet Laureate of the Empire, and created it as a lifelong Residential position. The new Poet Laureate of the Empire is celebrated pastoralist Marguerite Hendrickson, from Nevaras City, Duchy of Nevaras. Hendrickson is a professional writer, but she also teaches Vrassan to the 5th Grade at Nevaras Public Elementary School No 6.
"This is a prestigious honor for Ms. Hendrickson who has devoted her life to writing and creating art," said Minister Simmons. "Ms. Hendrickson's poetry is evocative of many of the lands you will find across Kalistan. She is an amateur naturalist, and has travelled extensively in the Grand Duchy, composing her works in the process. Whether it is an ode to wildlife in the Nevaran Plateau, or the bustling life of the urban landscape in a place like Port Swedes, her poems are aimed to bring the reader along with her to that place and represent a natural, and by the way, a very romantic take on the subject. She is a treasure for our Empire, and this Laurate is a small token for her contribution to Kalistani Culture."
Minister Simmons said the commission comes with an annual stipend of ₭65,000 annually, which will, if she is interested, allow Ms. Hendrickson to focus on her poetry full time. "This Commission is a lifetime award, so she will have the opportunity to serve the Nation in this capacity for the rest of her life." Ms. Hendrickson has published four books of her poetry, and at least two more anthologies are now commissioned by the Imperial Government as part of the Laureate. The Selection was made by an independent committee of Vrassan professors to select a poet whose work contributes significantly to the culture of Kalistan and who presents an impressionistic or romantic view of Kalistan and its people, rather than focusing on realism or abstract or absurdist topics. As part of the award, Ms. Hendrickson will be inducted into the Most Excellent Order of the Anantonese Empire, and will receive the title Dame.
Kalistani Army South Conducts Exercises in Suldanor
Kalistani Army South, which has been a primary beneficiary of Regular Army Reorganization, is conducting exercises along the Lucid River beginning in March. "These are scheduled exercises and are aimed at getting field experience with our new Rocket artillery systems," said Army Leader, Lt. General Craig Funk. "These batteries, which the Regular Army received from the Navy due to their limited use in shore to ship defense, are nonetheless an important addition to the Land Forces. With Conventional munitions, we are seeing max effective ranges up to 14 miles. But with rocket artillery, we are looking at max effective ranges of about 21 miles, a 50% increase in distance. It will dramatically improve operations in a theater of combat that a unit like Army South will face."
General Funk says the Regular Force has no intention to abandon the 155mm Howitzer. "No our main gun is now, and will be for the foreseeable future, the 155mm Howitzer. It is the perfect balance between portability and destructive firepower. It fires in all weather. When correctly registered, it has a 99% casualty rate. Nearly all combat casualties come from accurate Artillery fires. Rockets malfunction and sometimes they just blow up. The Howitzers just work. They kill whatever they are aimed at. Period."
The exercises will involve maneuver within the Lucid River valley above Lucid City. "We will involve mechanized infantry, armor, and artillery in the exercises, so we can get the guys familiar with Rocket Artillery operations," said the Lt. General. "We are also cooperating with the Militia in wargames in April, which will be a lot of fun I think and will also really test the endurance of the men and women in uniform. We will be simulating guerrilla tactics and living off the land during that phase, incase we ever need to invade somewhere, without adequate supply."
Empress to visit Q. Arianna in Hutori this Summer
The Personal Office of Her Imperial Majesty has scheduled a trip for Her Imperial Majesty Empress Mary I Ananto, Hi Highness The Crown Prince Fredrick Ananto-Collins, and Her Highness the Lady Companion Victoria Jensen to the Kingdom of Hutori, to visit Her Majesty, Queen Arianna and her family. This is a personal visit and is not expected to be accompanied by much ceremony or circumstance.
"Her Imperial Majesty has enjoyed previous visits to Hutori immensely, and wishes to visit the Queen at her home," said Lady Southern, Her Imperial Majesty's personal Secretary and spokeswoman. "This will allow her to meet Queen Arianna's the Prince Consort David Alvarez' children, and play golf in Prince David's annual tournament. It will also give the Crown Prince the opportunity to meet and get to know the Royal Family of Hutori, who are considered adopted family of the Anantos in Kalistan due to marriage, peerage, and status within the Ancient Order of the Gray Smoke. As he is preparing to accede to the throne in a few years, establishing a close relationship is very important."
Princess Natasha of Hutori, who holds permanent residence in Kalistan at Raven's Head, is expected to travel with the Royal family to Hutori. The trip is expected for late June and the visit will last for three weeks. During the visit, the Empress and Crown Prince are also expected to make a trip to Sutton for a few days as well, but will primarily stay with the Queen and her family for the duration.

King George Alvarez of Baltusia Abdicates
Former Monarch seeks asylum in Suldanor
Playa de Paz, Athosia, Baltusia
March 25, 5668
George Alvarez of Baltusia, seen here for the first time in 13 years, at Playa de Paz with Her Imperial Majesty, in Athosia
George Alvarez has been granted asylum in Kalistan by Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Mary I Ananto. Alvarez, the former king of the Baltusia, who lived for the most part under virtual house arrest in his palace in the capital of Johnson Baltusia, and rarely was permitted to leave due to security precautions dictated by the Government of Baltusia, tendered his formal abdication by letter, and then made his way to Playa de Paz, where Her Imperial Majesty was in winter residence. Once there he was debriefed and was permitted to formally request asylum in Kalistan, claiming he fears for his safety if he stays in Baltusia.
"The situation in Baltusia's capital is fairly uncertain at the moment," said Mr. Alvarez, who is, for the moment a private citizen, to reporters who were called in to document the event. "I have not seen or heard from First Minister Merridan in months: I am not even sure if he still governs, and the only visitors who are allowed at the palace are my palace staff, so I did not have much news of what is happening in the world. The Palace is surrounded by members of the Monarch Dynamics, the private security agency that Merridan built, and they most certainly reman on duty."
When questioned by the press, the former king admitted to not knowing how long he had been in the palace. "I tried to count dinners for a while, but eventually I lost interest in doing so." He said that immediately before he escaped, he learned that he had been under house arrest for more than a dozen years. "I knew it had been a very long time, but I was never quite sure until I asked one of the new cooks that had been sent for me what day and year it was. When he told me it was 5668, I knew I had to escape and make my way into Athosia, where at least I knew I had friends. I was sort of left in limbo, I guess, and just got lucky."
Alvarez says he spent the days and nights reading books in the extensive library in the palace. "I would say the biggest issue was that I was fairly lonely most of the time. But I was never mistreated while in my home--I had plenty of food, I lived in a gilded palace, I got plenty of in house medical care, I wanted for nothing, really. If it was prison, it was the most luxurious prison cell I have ever heard of. And I had plenty of human contact while I was there, but they were all very careful to not tell me what was going on in the world around the Palace, said I would worry too much about it." Alvarez said that he made friends with the new cook who let him know the information about his tenure in the Royal Palace, and got him to leave the sally gate open one evening after the last meal of the day. He then snuck out and fled the capital. "It had been so long since anyone had even seen me that nobody even recognized me."
As it turns out, Alvarez was lucky. Her Imperial Majesty was less than three days from returning to Kaliburg when the former monarch turned up on her doorstep. "I got a ride from San Luis to the gate along the road, and when I called up to the house, I was able to let them know who I was, and the guy said 'Man are you lucky, The Empress was just about to return to the Capital in a couple days.' I made it just in time. That was two days ago. And I will travel with Her Imperial Majesty and Lady Jensen back to Kaliburg before I settle into Suldanor."
Alvarez had a final thing: "There is winds of change blowing in Baltusia, I feel. I know a lot of my family lives here in Athosia. If you can, begin making plans. I know things can change quickly, more quickly than you can respond to if you don't have a plan in place. Call up relatives up north or in Gaduridos. Prepare a bug out bag: If things go down too quick, I want all the Alvarez' here in Athosia to know, when I get to Lucid, I will be a contact for you. Come find me, I will help as I can." George Alvarez concluded by saying he looks forward to serving the Empress in Lucid as a liaison for Baltusians coming into Suldanor.
OOC: Permission to take control of George Alvarez was granted by Weimarska, former primary in Baltusia, here (https://forum.prtcy.com/thread-465.html)

Her Imperial Majesty delivers Address to National Assembly
Sets Date of Abdication for June 15, 5672
Kaliburg, Grand Duchy of Ananto
June 12, 5668
Her Imperial Majesty Addresses the National Assembly, to announce her imminent retirement
"The Goal of all Empresses--and ironically, this should also be the goal of all revolutionaries as well--is to be retired," began an unexpected address by Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Mary I Ananto in the Capital today. "In consultation with our Government, our son, His Highness The Crown Prince Fredrick Ananto-Collins, and with our closest advisors, we approach to announce the happiest news we have ever had the privilege to deliver. Our date of retirement is at long last approaching: It is June 15, 5672. And that now the world's clock begins ticking."
The Empress continued to explain that following her son's marriage in August, the Crown Prince will make his first foray into International Affairs. "The Crown Prince will make a major debut on the world stage, with an international journey whose itinerary includes visits to many close friends, many old friends, and hopefully to many new friends. He has confirmation from ten nations on the major continents across Terra. It is his desire to reintroduce our Nation to the world. He has his vision for the place he wants Kalistan to occupy in the world, and though it may not be our own way, it nonetheless warms this old Conservative's heart to know that we will be able to leave the administration of this nation in competent and visionary hands, who will not go too far one way or another, who will continue to preserve our institutions, and who will meet with many around the globe who present diversity of opinion on cooperation."
The Empress stated that the Crown Prince's new wife will travel with him. "It is our hope that our future daughter in-law, Lady Jennifer Connor is able to warm hearts which may otherwise be cold toward Ananto and Kalistan. She is a wonderful girl, excuse us, a wonderful young woman, and she is a wonderful addition to our family. Our hope is that while our son continues his preparation, she may continue her career and get the most out of it that she can, and we will not ask more of her than she wishes to give. But she is enthusiastic about marrying, and she is excited to begin a new life as the Empress Consort. And she will, we believe be a great asset and a great help for him on this trip around the world."
The Empress noted some challenges that the new Emperor will inherit. "We can foresee, given the reports of uncertainty from our cousin, Sir George Alvarez, former King of Baltusia, that Baltusia may be something of a concern going forward. It is difficult to say one way or another where that concern will head. However, we will wait and see, and as soon as matters become more clear in our southern Neighbor, it will be incumbent upon us to reach out and determine what their orientation toward us is."
She also noted the further developments in Rildanor. "It greatly saddens us that a Seleyan Nation is offering itself up to be carved up by foreign powers, all of whom are using that nation to increase their influence in this corner. The arrival of additional foreign nations to Seleya confirms our need to maintain our Southern Presence. The arrival of one particular country, whose name we care not to mention at the moment, is particularly annoying. We have reports from many of those we ourselves associate with, that that nation is a menace, and does not have hemispheric peace as its guiding motivation. But like any other foreign incursion into Seleya, this move raises klaxons for Kalistani planners, and forces us onto an alert footing, when we would rather maintain a garrison posture. This is likely a long term problem. And it is one our Son will need to deal with."
The Empress did hold out an optimistic note, especially around Rildanor, for the Crown Prince. "We were blindsided by Egelion's expansion into Rildanor: It was something we were not prepared for, and turned into a fait accompli. But that said, there is some advantage that can be gained for our Empire then. One of the most anticipated stops on the world tour is to Altea to visit our cousin, King Artemio. We can not forget that the King is the grandson of the beloved Lady Dana Ananto and the son of Nicole Reina, and it is through these family ties that Kalistan and Egelion will always find common ground despite superficial differences. Given this fact, it may be incumbent upon Kalistan to move from a neutral position to one which acts in support of Egelion's mission to Meriath, especially if that mission includes maintaining seas free of foreign imperialists. It may behoove His Highness the Crown Prince to adopt once more a broader Anantonese outlook when choosing friends."
The Empress also hinted at the possibility of repaired relations with Artanian nations Narikiton, Luthori, and Dorvik. "The Crown Prince was especially interested in making contact with these Artanian states: We have been estranged from Artania for most of our lives. But those administrations which gave Kalistan so much trouble in the past are gone. It is possible that an opening for cooperation, or at least cordial relations with them can be made during the Crown Prince's visit. We believe that he can accomplish something we could not, and in this, we are very pleased that he is at least making the effort."
As for what the Empress plans to do after abdicating, she quipped, "We look forward to singular pronouns," she stated, a rare departure from her notoriously stoic, humorless approach. The delivery of the laugh line caught many of the gathered Deputies off guard and caused the Assembly to break bearing and laugh before spontaneously rising to applaud the Empress. The Ovation lasted for more than 3 minutes, as chants of "¡Emperatriz, Viva!" broke out. On orders from the Chancellor, the Speaker of the Assembly eventually gaveled the body back to order to allow the Empress to finish her speech.
"Most of all, we look forward to finishing our work, the passion of our life, which is the planting of trees and the rebuilding of our forests," said the Empress. "The redwoods will not be fully grown within the span of our lifetime. We will never sit fully under the shade of an old growth forest outside the Eveari Grove, the north coast of Vrassa, or isolated spots in the Dragon Hills. But we can be certain that the steps we have taken during our lifetime ensures that countless generations of Kalistanis will have the opportunity to enjoy the sweet cool breezes of an old growth redwood forest across the entire northern tier of our nation, to receive the full enlightening experience of being in a forest that feels ancient and alive at the same time, to see the wildlife that is now being reintroduced into these previously exhausted habitats, and to walk in the gentle rains of our wet seasons under a canopy sometimes 275 or 300 feet into the air."
She finally thanked the Assembly for approving her eventual abdication and retirement, and thanked her Government and each Deputy for their service to her. At the end, she admonished the Government to continue its faithful service to the Crown Prince, when he steps into the role of Sovereign. "It goes without saying," said the Empress, "that there may be a different person sitting in the Imperial Seat, but the authority he will wield stretches ultimately back to Fredrick I Ananto, and from there to the ancient Anantans. There is no difference, when the time comes, between our word, and his. It is this continuity of authority which separates us, as people, from others. Fiat from respective monarchs carries with it the authority of ALL monarchs who have ruled this nation, and that will not change once the Crown Prince has stepped into his destiny as your Emperor. We will make him as prepared as we may, and make his transition as seamless as possible. It is merely your duty to conform your official action to his word."
As Her Imperial Majesty stepped from the dais, helped down by the Lady Companion, Lady Victoria Jensen, who was watching from the gallery just off the Rostrum, and left the Assembly, the Deputies rose in unison, lowered their heads in fealty, and waited for the Sergeant at Arms to close the door behind her. At once they broke out once more into applause, both in honor of the long serving Empress, and also in excitement over the news concerning the Crown Prince's eventually accession.
The Royal Family now departs for Hutori for three weeks, to visit with the Queen Arianna and her family. They will return two weeks before the Crown Prince's marriage to Lady Jennifer Connor, who has stated that she will adopt Ananto as a surname following the wedding.

Crown Prince is Married in Eveari
Lady Jennifer Ananto-Connor is promoted to Princess and Consort in Waiting
Eveari, Grand Duchy of Ananto
August 3, 5668
Crown Prince Fredrick Ananto-Collins and new Princess Jennifer Ananto-Connor, joined by Best Man Count Martin Collins of Sulari, and Maid of Honor Ms. Juana Jimenez
Having finally returned from their month long visit to Hutori and Queen Arianna, His Highness, The Crown Prince Fredrick Ananto-Collins has been married to Lady Jennifer Connor, 26, of Kaliburg. She has been formally styled Her Highness, Princess Jennifer Ananto-Connor, Baroness of Zappa following her marriage, and will eventually become Empress of Ananto and Kalistan once the Crown Prince becomes Emperor. A small invited crowd of relatives and friends, along with the attenders of the Eveari Monthly Meeting of Brethren were on hand for the ceremony at the Brethrenist Meeting House in Eveari, the traditional site for Anantonese weddings.
The wedding ceremony was in the tradition of the Brethrenist faith, involving silent worship, speeches during the Meeting, and the traditional signing of the large, poster size wedding certificate of all those in attendance. Also in true Brethrenist fashion, a minute was offered by several members to assume the spiritual and temporal care for the Crown Prince and Princess by the Meeting. The Prince and Princess exchanged vows and rings, and both the best man, His Highness' father Count Martin Collins of Sulari County, and maid of Honor, Ms. Juana Jimenez, who has been one of Lady Jennifer's closest friends for several years, offered speeches in support of the marriage.
In attendance at the Ceremony were a host of dignitaries in the Empire. Besides the Royal Family, including Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Mary I Ananto, Count Martin Collins, Her Highness Princess Nicolette Ananto-Collins (on NSP Leave before beginning her last year in the service), Her Highness Princess Margaret Ananto-DeLaurentis, and Lady Monica Ananto-DeLaurentis, several of the extended members of the Royal family turned up, including Lady Helen Ananto-Reynolds and Sir George Alvarez. Additionally the Hereditary Grand Duke of Kalistan Craig Alvarez was in attendance, as were several members of the peerage. Lady Connor's parents and sister Jill were also in attendance, and several of her friends from Kaliburg, and from the fashion industry.

Following the ceremony, the Wedding Party moved to Ananto Estate in Eveari, which had been reopened last month and prepared for the celebration. Ananto Estate remains vacant much of the time, with one one of the wings, reserved for the Staff remaining active. It will be the future residence of Her Imperial Majesty following her retirement. But now it was alive with laughter, dancing and music, food, and conviviality. Most of the music during the main reception was provided by the Kaliburg Chamber Orchestra, who played incidental music, as well as specific dance tunes for formal dancing, and included an electric music set for those who preferred more contemporary fare.
Dinner was served to the guests and included either baked ocean cod, seasoned with lemon and butter, with spinach and wild rice pilaf, or a hearty teriyaki tofu and quinoa salad, greens, and bread for those who prefer vegetarian options. Desert was a fresh citrus sorbet and wafers. And of course an assortment of wines or teas was served with dinner. All said the cook staff did a remarkable job with the food.
Dinner was followed by speeches. Count Martin Collins said he was so proud of his son, to watch him grow to become a man. He admonished the Crown Prince to always remember to laugh, and to try to never go to bed angry. Her Imperial Majesty also spoke, and encouraged the Crown Prince to remember that marriage was about communication, finding joy in simple things, and apology and forgiveness. "It is difficult to live with someone for decades on end," said the Empress. "But being able to forgive and being able to apologize makes things a lot smoother. And they allow you to do what your father said and not go to bed angry. Because the marriage makes you stronger, as a couple, than the fight. And apology and forgiveness is like exercise." Ms. Jimenez was more upbeat with her speech. She said the newlyweds were some of the funnest people to be around and speaking for her and the Princess' whole friend group, wished them so much luck and happiness in the future.
Princess Jennifer and Crown Prince Fredrick enjoy a dance during the main reception
At about 8:30 pm, following the cake cutting, the toasts and the formal dances, Her Imperial Majesty and Lady Victoria Jensen said their good nights and retired. Count Martin Collins stayed until about 9 before he headed to the main house with wife Lady Kelly Collins. Several of the other attendees made their way to the house while the order was given to open the gates to the community. This tradition is known as the public reception, and involves the opportunity for the Citizens of Eveari to visit the Estate, be served their own dinner if they want it, and drink and celebrate. It also allows the citizens to meet the Royal Family and the new addition to welcome, in this case, her to the community. It also involves an open bar and usually a popular musician or band to take over on music duties. This year, the invited band was Dana surfpunks Limelight, who the Prince and Princess met at GanJam last summer. They were joined by Micky Zapata, the RF singer who guested on a few Limelight songs on their recent album. The singer was beside herself: "When they asked me to come up and join Limelight for the night, at the Wedding Party, I was like 'With my eyes closed'!"
The Prince and Princess remained at the Public reception until 10:30, when they called it a night. As they retired to the main house, and others followed, the crowd gave them an ovation and a hearty cheer, and then went back to celebrating. Following the departure of the bride and groom, ODEN opened the recreational bar. Princess Nicolette Ananto remained at the party throughout the evening, meeting Eveari residents, and listening to music. "I just love Zapata," she said. "Seeing her was definitely a plus for me. I missed her at GanJam, and I have to go back to the Corps in a few days so I am going to enjoy every minute of freedom I can until then." She was seen talking to a few local gentlemen throughout the evening, but they all departed before she retired to the Main House.
The Public Reception broke up at about 3:30 am, following Micky Zapata's last trance set.
The Royal Family will spend a few days longer in Eveari before returning to Kaliburg. From there, Count Martin Ananto and his wife will return to Sulari, while Her Imperial Majesty and Lady Jensen will return to finish their residency at Wood House. Princess Nicolette will return to national service a few days later, and His Highness the Crown Prince Fredrick and Princess Jennifer will prepare to make their tour of the world beginning in early September.

His Highness the Crown Prince travels the World
New Spouse Princess Jennifer Ananto-Connor "Thoroughly Enjoyed" world tour
Kaliburg, Grand Duchy of Ananto
September 30, 5668
Crown Prince Fredrick and Princess Jennifer board the flight that will take them to Altea from Kaliburg earlier this month
His Highness, Crown Prince Fredrick Ananto-Collins has finally returned from his landmark World venture that took him to 10 countries on six continents since the beginning of August. He was accompanied by his new wife, Her Highness, Princess Jennifer Ananto-Connor, and the two have been inseparable since early August, when they were married in Eveari. The voyage nearly 2 months, with the largest part of that time spent in Hutori meeting with the Queen. Below is a summary of the journey, along with a brief discussion of events in each country.
The Crown Prince and Princess' route across the world
1. Hutori. This part of the trip was already scheduled several months ago and served as a honeymoon for the new couple. They visited Queen Arianna, Prince Consort David (who is a member of the Alvarez family and is therefore related by adoption to the Royal Family.) The Anantos, along with Her Imperial Majesty made a personal visit and even attended the Royal Consort's Golf Tournament along with the Hutorian Royal Family. The Crown Prince visited the Isle of Sutton and Ice Haven to introduce himself to the people and staff of those two demesnes, while they stayed primarily with the Steuart Carmichaels. The Prince and Princess specifically took the opportunity to make side journeys to Kenai and Axeminster, and were particularly thrilled to meet so many Kalistani expats and hear some of the best of Hutorian music.
2. Egelion. After stopping back in Kaliburg for about a week, the newlyweds launched to Altea Egelion, to meet with King Artemio and Queen Anastasia. King Artemio is also related to the Crown Prince through Nicole Montelivet (nee: Ananto-Bjorksdattir), of the last Generation of Alvarez' to be considered royal in Kalistan. The three day discussion was considered very productive by analysts, and was also considered key to improving Anantonese Affairs. "I do not represent the present in Kalistan, but the future," said the Crown Prince. "So we talked about the future. Kalistan is moving toward recognition of the Rildanorean Government in Exile in Meriath, and I had the opportunity to listen to King Artemio, a very intelligent man who clearly has his own nation's interests at heart, as well as our mutual interests in the Anantonese Basin. He made some excellent points, which I have relayed to my mother, and we found a lot to agree with. I found him welcoming and warm, and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of concord we found on a slate of issues." When invited to speak before the Royal High Council and Government, The Crown Prince reitereated his commitment to friendship and cooperation between the two Anantonese Nations, and added he genuinely supports the development of monarchy on the Kerisian Continent, especially in Trigunia, which is Anastasia's homeland. "A full Monarch with actual power in that state would do amazing things for Seleyan-Kerisian relations," said the Crown Prince. "It would being some semblance of order to that state. Egelion may be a part of that, and I think this stability would be a net gain for the region."
3. Baeguk/Dankuk. The Crown Prince made a stop over on Chagatae Island to meet with the exiled Empress of Great Bae, formally titled Princess Regent Taeyang Seoyeon, who received the Crown Prince with grace and dignity. Kalistan never maintained strong relations with Great Bae, before or after their proletarian revolt that led to the exile of the Empress, but the Empire of Ananto and Kalistan still recognizes Taeyang as the legitimate Sovereign of the northern Monarchy. "The Island is a piece of calm in a sea of turmoil that you will find on the mainland," said the Crown Prince. "We are aware of the allegations against the Royal family. But assassination and revolution is something Kalistan feels very strongly about, and when that revolution overthrows a sitting monarch, that is something we ourselves would never side with. So it was incumbent upon us to accept the gracious invitation by the Empress Taeyang in her home land, if for no other reason that to introduce her to Kalistan, and vice versa. Though she lives under constant threat by the communists on the mainland, she has held her Island fastness for 20 years, and her tenacity is admirable."
4. Utaristan. The Crown Prince had the opportunity to visit Utaristan, in Northern Dovani, where he met with representatives of the Utari foreign Ministry in the nation's capital. "Jenn and I may be the first Kalistanis to ever set foot in Utaristan," said the Crown Prince. "But we were welcomed nonetheless." The Crown Prince took the opporunity to speak with the Utari Government about Kalistan's position toward this part of the world. "Kalistan had a fairly strong relationship with North Dovani many many years ago, but since then, our relationship has more or less become non-existant. And this is something we could easily remedy if given the right opportunities." The Crown Prince spoke about respect for Utari development and suggested that Kalistan could be persuaded to assist. "This is, hopefully the first of many conversations," said the Crown Prince. "Right now, our mission is to meet one another, and learn more about one another."
5. Xsampa. The Crown Prince and Princess next flew to Xsampa where they landed in Metz-Leonid, and spoke with Xsampan Mining executives. "Of course we want their rubies," said the Crown Prince with a laugh. "Look: You do know who my mother is, correct? You don't even have to say it twice." The Crown Prince officially renewed the ongoing trade agreements with the Xsampan Government to supply finished aluminum, and purchase jewelry, precision tool sets, and EV automobiles. He also noted that there was money in the budget to procure rubies from the Xsampan collectives who mine them. "We applaud their ethical ways, and the high quality of the stones they have sold us through their diamond program. We look forward to maintaining that relationship in rubies as well." Though the Crown Prince made an attempt to limit his interaction with actual communists in the largely communist country, he was eventually won over when, after travelling further to the low country at Gramdkarpo, was introduced to some young communist zealots, one of whom said he had a poster of the Crown Prince on his wall made from a photo of the Crown Prince surfing at the Wilson Pipeline in Ananto. "The kid said I had inspired him to pick up surfing, and he talked me into spending the afternoon with him catching some waves." The Princess watched and took video of the communists surfing with the Crown Prince in Xsampa.
6. Dorvik. From tropical beaches to serious tundra, the next stop was Kalistan's ancient nemesis Dorvik. As of late, Dorvik has been revitalizing its monarchy, and he and the Princess were greeted by His Majesty, Kaiser Franz III, State Chancellor Andreas Knoerr, Foreign Minister Karolina Johner, and Dorvish Trade Commissioner Dominik Herzberg. The Dorvish Reps and the Crown Prince were cordial with one another, and greeted one another openly. "Our two Nations have had their difficulties in the past. There were other times, though that we saw eye to eye and could work together--Kalistan knows that Dorvik expressed support for the invasion of Kundrati as part of the northern coalition that included our chosen kindred in Hutori. It is my hope that this will happen again and we will have the opportunity to work together." The Crown Prince was treated to a warm press conference by the Dorvish Press, and one question he was asked was "Will there be a day when we see Dorvish flagged Navy transit the Ananto Straits?" The Crown Prince laughed, and said "I can imagine such a day: Specifically, it is the day right after you see Anantonese Flagged Navy stationed at one of Dorvik's beautiful ice free ports in the middle of winter." The Dorvish reps in the room laughed at the obvious joke, pleased that the sensitive topic had been sidestepped deftly, and FM Johner said wryly in Vrassan, "We have the treaty all ready to go!" to everyone's laughter.
7. Luthori. The Crown Prince flew to Fort William to meet with Emperor Richard II and Empress Valeria of Luthori. The visit was warm and the Crown Prince was treated very well by the Artanian Emperor. The Crown Prince stressed long standing cordial relations stretching back to before the Artanian Conflicts, and said it was his intention to renew them as soon as the Luthorians desire to do so. "We have much in common, and for better or worse, Kalistan and Luthori's paths cross at regular intervals. We have had disagreements, and we have been friends. But at the end of the day, you could say our two histories are so intertwined that there is more or a familial relationship between our two nations than either of us have been willing to admit. It can be a basis for a new mutually beneficial relationship, based on mutual respect and trust. It is certainly something I would hope to see sooner than later." The Crown Prince also discussed Mordusia with the Emperor, saying that in his dual capacity as King of Mordusia, it is at any rate in Kalistan's interest to make more friends in Seleya, and Mordusia stands as an excellent opportunity to do so, as a monarchist bulwark against foreign imperialist incursion into the continent. "We still view Pan-Seleyanism as a worthy goal," said the Crown Prince. "We may be the only ones, but we are sure Mordusia can play a major role in that as well, should their government be given the opportunity to do so."
8. N&D. After leaving Luthori, the Crown Prince flew into Bannerhafen, Narikaton, to speak with the new superstar President, Siske Ossel. "Well, what can I say?" asked the Crown Prince rhetorically. "She is a ball of energy." According to reports, the Princess and the President immediately hit it off soon after the couple was introduced to Ms. Ossel. "Max charisma," said Princess Jennifer after their meeting. "She speaks Luthorian well, but she also speaks a million miles a minute. And she asked a ton of questions, all about Kalistan, some of which I am embarrassed to say, I did not know." Apparently, Ossel is a bit of a fan herself. "She said she has a scrapbook of my modelling," said the Princess. "She 'stans' my 'drip' and called it 'gas', I think is what she said. I could only smile and accept the compliment, I hope it is a compliment." The two heads of state mostly discussed the third leg of the Triad, Himmelshtern, which Ms. Ossel is keen to interest Kalistan in. "Well, she noted the heavy commercial opportunities in the Nisrad," said the Crown Prince. "I told her that of course Kalistan has its reservations about working with Amudim in any capacity. And oddly enough, she just smiled and said something about 'staying on the grind, or grinder or something.' I think I caught about 90 percent of what she was saying to me. I fear a lot was lost in translation from Darnussian, but as she spoke such impeccable Luthorian, it might just be that Luthorian and Vrassan languages are more different than I expected. She's a delight anyway, and I am glad Jenn and I got to meet her."
9. Kafuristan. The penultimate stop and longest flight of the trip was to Kafuristan, in southern Majatra. There the Crown Prince was greeted by His Majesty King Umar and His Highness the Crown Prince Tariq. This was another first for a Kalistani royal. "Many years ago, Nicolette I Ananto had an estate in Istalia, but once that land became communist, her home was unceremoniously seized by the communists, and no Ananto has stepped foot in Southern Majatra since then. It is my pleasure to be the one to return and to thank His Majesty for his warm welcome and true Majatran generosity." The King presented Prince Fredrick with a Schmitar as a symbol of friendship, and the Crown Prince returned the gesture by presenting the King with a solid gold relief wall map of the Nation of Kafuristan, and congratulated the Crown Prince on the recent opening of the new Abadi Vanguard HQ in Kasraj, praising its relief efforts in the Ahmadi parts of the world. The Crown Prince spoke with the King and Crown Prince, as well as the First Minister and the Foreign Minister about what Kalistan has done to diversify its energy industry. "I noted, and I believe the King agreed, that though Kafuri oil makes the Kingdom a lot of money, eventually they could face a petroleum cliff as Kalistan did. To meet our own energy needs when cheap petrol ran out, we began diversifying to renewables. And as a result, Kalistan is able to produce energy at excess capacity if we need to, and we can export our energy through powerlines, rather than container ships. It's a long term strategy for long term success." He invited the King to Kalistan to check out if what the Empire chooses to do to provide energy could possibly also work in Kafuristan.
10. Lodamun. The last stop before home was Kalistan's longtime Seleyan partner and friend Lodamun. The Crown Prince was given the opportunity to visit Mount Plainly in Barrington. "The Administrator-General used to be located here," said the Crown Prince. "This office is a matter of historical significance." The Crown Prince visited with members of the Lodamese Government briefly: The Crown Prince has had many opportunities to meet with Lodamese Officials during many visits. "We just wanted to stop in Lodamun for a little rest and relaxation, and because Jenn had never seen much of this country before. But we did conduct a little business too. I presented a message from my mother to the Kalistani Ambassador to pass on to his connections that Kalistan remains committed to the working together with Lodamun on regional security, and suggested that some point in the near future, Kalistan and Lodamun should meet on Baltusia, which may be becoming a growing matter of interest for both of our nations." The Crown Prince and Princess remained in Lodamun for four days before finally returning to Kaliburg, and making a full report to Her Imperial Majesty of the trip. He was also debriefed by the IBSI, in what may ultimately be Princess Margaret's last debriefing before she retires at the end of this year.
The trip around the world took almost exactly 28 days, and avoided several pariah states in the world and those who might have attempted some violent intervention in the route of travel if they had had the opportunity. The Crown Prince left a positive impression in all places, and was thrilled to report that he was greeted by warm and friendly individuals, all of whom he reported "Kalistan can definitely work with everyone we met on this trip!" This evaluation was gratefully welcomed in Kaliburg, who is in the process of preparing for a more internationalist orientation in its foreign policy as soon as Crown Prince Fredrick assumes the throne in less than 4 years.
For her part, Princess Jennifer said she thoroughly enjoyed the trip and hopes to go back to a lot of these places, either professionally or on vacation. "I really liked President Ossel, I though we got along well, despite my occasional failure to understand what she was saying." The Princess thought that The Triad would be very open to Kalistani Fashion. "There is a ton of money in that country," said said. "And Kalistan is known for producing fashion that is expensive, expertly crafted of the finest fabrics, and would look really really good on those ladies. I think that is definitely an avenue worth exploring." The Prince said his favorite memory of the trip was surfing with the young communists in Xsampa. "I was very glad to meet kids on the exact opposite side of the world who loved the same things I loved when I was their age. Communism or not, those young people really carved up some ocean on their boards. It was an honor to be asked to go surfing with them."

George Alvarez Speaks on Baltusia
Lucid Ladies's Club holds panel on future of Kalistani Baltusian Relations
Lucid City, Duchy of Suldanor
November 12, 5668
Sir George Alvarez, SKC, former king of Baltusia speaks on current events
The Former King of Baltusia gave the key note speech at the Annual Luncheon of the Lucid Valley Ladies Club this week. The Ladies Club, which is a civic sorority that claims more than 3500 members in Suldanor, has as their mission charity and civil service in the Lucid Valley, as well as "fostering a positive image of the Monarchy and the Empire" along the border with Baltusia. The membership is open to all women, but the hefty membership dues tend to restrict the actual membership to Land Baronettes, academics, and female entrepreneurs. Sir Alvarez was asked to speak this year due to his former royal status, and represents a new emigre and expat organization he has recently founded, also in Lucid City, called the Suldanoran Affinity Center.
Following some pre-emptory words from the Chapter's Hostess, Baronette Isabelle Guttierez-Mendoza, Alvarez began: "First, let me just say that I have been asked to talk with the Lucid Ladies' Club on matters close to my heart, which are developments in both Athosia and Baltusia at large. I understand that Mr. Merridan has been arrested, and is under investigation for conspiracy. I cautiously applaud the efforts of the San Luis police and the Baltusian government for doing what they can to restore a semblance of order into Baltusia. It is my sincere prayer that this is a first step in a larger move to restore effective government and liberties to the people of Baltusia, who have languished for more than a decade in a security state brought on by this, now apparently staged assassination attempt."
He continued, "It is out of love for my homeland of Baltusia that I come to you here today to make a pitch. My words can only go so far: I am merely a simple man, in exile from my own nation and a guest in yours. But I do know there are a lot of peers of Her Imperial Majesty in this room. I know you ladies wear a lot of jewelry, and I can see plenty of diamonds, rubies and emeralds in this room. We all know what this means, Ladies. You can talk with her and with this Nation's government on behalf of my nation, for me, for the people I work with. I ask you to tell her to hold off on any judgement of what Baltusia is doing at home until all the information is in, and she has a chance to evaluate it fully. And then support them if it is worth supporting."
Sir Alvarez went through the history of Kalistani-Baltusian relations. Throughout the talk, he used the terms Athosia and San Luis interchangeably, Athosia when referring to Imperial acts toward the State, San Luis when referring to Baltusian. "It seems that whenever Baltusia makes changes in their way of managing San Luis, Kalistan goes crazy," said the former Monarch. "Look: this doesn't help us in Baltusia. What we need is consistency and grace in Kalistan's policy toward Baltusia, to allow us to work out our history, with Kalistan as partners, not overlords. We are not insane. We want the best for our country too." Alvarez reminded the group that he was not a representative of the Baltusian Government any longer, but of course, his loyalties always lie with his homeland too.
"Speaking for myself and speaking for those Alvarez' who have settled in Athosia and have made it our home for generations, I can say, were I still the King right now, I would certainly reach out for help to Kalistan. I would definitely look for patience and whatever Kalistan can offer. If the National Government is arresting the former First Minister on such serious charges, I can certainly imagine that they will be going through some changes. Please ask your Deputies, ask your government and ask Her Imperial Majesty to offer friendship and equity to Baltusia. Realize that but for the grace of Eliyahu, go you all: the shoe can easily be on the other foot. As a native Baltusian, and a friend and cousin of Her Imperial Majesty I can say with a degree of certainty that Baltusia wants to stand on its own two feet, it would like some peace over San Luis. And Baltusia seeks respect and dignity as a sovereign nation."
The former monarch expressed gratitude to Kalistan for accepting him in the country after he fled from House Arrest last summer. "We are related, we Athosians and we Suldanorans, we Alvarez' and Anantos. There is just a river that separates us, no more. We have far more in common than we do differences. We speak the same language. We want the same things. Suldanor is as much my home as Athosia is. At the end of the day, there is so much we can do if we cooperate, and I hope specifically that my former government and my current Monarch agree to the spirit of deep and abiding cooperation as Baltusia goes through some changes. Who knows where they will lead, but just knowing that Baltusia has the security to figure it out for themselves, I have found that this tends to press down radicalism in the reform and makes it more palatable for everyone."
The former King finished with a strong appeal for solidarity for both sides of the border. "I am a conservative in my soul and a monarchist, as are many, if not most people in San Luis. We can and should work together to ensure our people are safe from radicalism, so they can be prosperous and free. I believe this, and I want this, not only for my own people but for all people. Baltusia has had a checkered history. But we have also done plenty that is correct. I am asking you to help us, to work with us, and not against us. To stow any belicosity you may feel around San Luis and don't give into to provocation around the issues. I trust the Baltusian people will figure it out. The dangers of communism are in the past. The future is bright, and the people have a chance. Will you help us to make that dream a reality?"
The ladies at the club gave the former Monarch a very polite cheer and then the Club Hostess, Baronette Guttierez-Mendoza, called for a collection for the Suldanoran Affinity Center, and collected more than ₭85,000 Imperial for expatriot services, and verbal commitments for more. the Baronette also verbally pledged to phone the Empress that very afternoon and discuss the critical need for support and forebearance for Baltusia.

Dr. Jeffrey Hewlett, HIM Foreign Minister says Kalistan has recognized Meriath
Empress sees Meriath as "Legitimate" government of Rildanor
Kaliburg, Grand Duchy of Ananto
December 19, 5668
FM Jeffrey Hewlett on TV 1's popular "Kaliburg Tonight" news program
Her Imperial Majesty's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Jeffrey Hewlett said that Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Mary I Ananto has ordered the Ministry to formally offer recognition to the Rildanoran Government in Meriath. The move follows a successful election in Meriath which returned the Socialist Party to office, and the highly irritating transfer of yet another naval base by the fascists on the mainland to a foreign state with questionable policies.
"Of the two, it seems that the Government on Meriath has a better mind to not only their own country's benefit, but also a more correct, in Her Imperial Majesty's opinion, outlook on the world. They are making better friends, shall we say, than the fascists on the Mainland, and therefore, The Empress believes they are the government we should be working with." FM Hewlett said she made the decision following the return of His Majesty the Crown Prince Fredrick Ananto-Collins from his world tour.
"Recognizing the Government in Meriath as the single legitimate government of the Nation of Rildanor not only allows us to more closely align with the policy of our neighbors, namely our Imperial Partners in Gaduridos and the Kingdom of Egelion, but it also allows us to better coordinate security throughout the Southern Anantonese Ocean with the goal to better enhance our security in the Southern Approaches. It opens the door to assistance from the Anantonese Empire, with the hope of someday building a closer relationship."
Hewlett stated that the condemnation of Vascania's completely unnecessary and unjustifiable imposition into Seleya sealed the deal for the Empress. "Not only does Rildanor stand against nascent fascism in their mainland territories, but it also has vocally opposed this insolence from Vascania, a nation which is known for committing human rights abuses in Rapa Pile, and which has long been considered a pariah state in Kalistan. The bravery of President Clair, backed up, of course, by the Egelion Southern Navy, nonetheless shines as a beacon in the long standing battle to eradicate fascism in Terra, and foreign Imperialism in Seleya."
The host of the show, James Brown, pushed back on the statements against foreign Imperialism in Selaya. "How does Her Imperial Majesty square the circle of complaining about foreign imperialism, on the one hand, but also seemingly giving a pass to the blatent foreign imperialism of Egelion's stationing of their fleet on Meriath. Doesn't that seem like a double standard?"
Hewlett defended the Empress' decision in this matter. "The Empress still objects to Egelian basing in Seleya. But let's look at the facts. 1) Egelion doesn't have a long history of brutal repression of a minority population taken by force through conquest like Vascania does, 2) Egelion has sided with a democratic government who has received a legislative and executive mandate by the rules of their election system, rather than a fascist state that rules by force and terror, the way Vascania has, and 3) Egelion is an Anantonese State, even if they are not Seleyan. It's a spectrum really. We would prefer Rildanor be free of ALL foreign imperialists. But if we have to accept one of them, an Anantonese State who we cooperate with and are currently aligning our policies with is preferable to some insane foreign state from the other side of the world who has literally no business in our part of the world."
Hewlett continued, over the continued objections of the show's host: "I mean, let's be fair: The Fascists are working with Narikaton too, but I think the Empress can understand their motivations as world traders far easier than Vascania's who has literally no reason to be over here, especially when they are looking down the barrel of a war with Xsampa. Sometimes we have to make some exceptions for larger principles, and if Kalistan can only oppose an Anantonese state basing a navy in a Seleyan Nation or fascism, Her Imperial Majesty will pick opposing fascism every time."
A formal letter of recognition has been sent to the Clair Government in Meriath to inform them of Kalistan's change in orientation, and to invite reps of the legitimate Rildanoran Government to Kaliburg to open talks about a new relationship between the two nations.

Finance Minister faces scrutiny over ForIn Bank
Critics call Investment Bank a "Black Market Money Laundromat"
Kaliburg, Grand Duchy of Ananto
July 1, 5669
Dr. Michael King, Finance Minister answers questions from National Assembly on ForIn Deposits
Dr. Michael King, Her Imperial Majesty's Minister of Finance was in front of the National Assembly's Finance Committee, who is charged with Oversight of the Activities of the Finance Ministry, to answer questions about the activities of the Kalistani Foreign Investment (ForIn) Bank. The primary function of the bank is to provide foreign investors more or less an escrow to hold money that they intend to invest in Kalistani industries and stocks. It provides capital standardization with the Empire, and also operates the various Cambios across Kalistan. Below is a Narrative transcript of the first set of questions faced by the Finance Minister during the hearing.
Quote:"Kalistan is not a place a lot of people travel to, specifically," said Minister King. "But it is a place a lot of people travel through, in all directions. While they are here, we tend to provide the least expensive cambio services in the world, and travelers transiting through Kalistani Airports know that: most nations exchange currency with a 2.5% fee for all transactions while Kalistan is usually between 1.5% and 1.8% depending on convertibility, so international travelers flying through Sulari or Kaliburg tend to exchange large sums of money, and save on the excess fees that they will pay in their destination country. Yes, Kalistan undercuts foreign banks who exchange currency, but it's a small part of the operation of ForIn that visitors appreciate."
The Committee Chairman, Deputy Robert Hassleback of Suldanor, informed the Finance Minister that he wasn't in the Committee to provide advertisement for the Cambio. "We have troubling, albeit anecdotal reports regarding the use of ForIn as a Black Market Money Laundromat," said Deputy Hassleback. "The stories we are hearing are that Kaliburg is a frequent destination for, shall we say, black market drug smugglers, gun runners, mafioso, and other kinds of shady characters of every description, who utilize the bank's similarly world famous secrecy provisions to both hide illicitly acquired profit, and launder money through Kalistan."
"Mr. Chairman," answered the Finance Minister. "I am not at liberty to discuss with you or anyone the character of those who have accounts with ForIn. That would be against the law. And if any of these anecdotal stories came from any bank staff, that would also be against the law."
"Alright Doctor," continued the Chairman. "Can you characterize the general nature of the the more than ₭27.3 Billion that ForIn saw last year in deposits that your audit shows?"
"The general nature of..." asked the Minister
"...of the ₭27.3 Billion in deposits that the bank under your direction accepted last year, according to your own public audit records?"
"Mr. Chairman, as I said, I cannot characterize any of the deposits made at ForIn as that would be a violation of the law."
The chairman was, by this time, becoming more frustrated. "Mr. Minister, can you even confirm that ₭27.3 Million were deposited at the ForIn Bank last year?"
"Excuse me, Mr. Chairman, Million or Billion," asked the Minister.
"Excuse me, ₭27.3 Billion Imperial... 27.3 Billion, with a B."
"No sir," was his response. The Chairman was incredulous and pushed him, to which the Finance Minister stated, "Mr. Chairman, it is a crime for me to state anything specific to do with the Foreign Investment Bank deposits or depositors on the public record. This body wrote that law. If you wish to compel me to answer, you had better change the law, but I am not interested in violating the law as it is written."
The Finance Minister and the Chairman of the Committee went back and forth about definitions of the words and the meaning of the law, and ultimately the Minister lost patience, and asked flat out, "Mr. Chairman, what is the source of these allegations? Who are you referring to that is leading you to request this information from the Government, when you know it is flat out illegal for me to provide it to you?"
"Well, Dr. King, I saw it with my own two eyes, that's who, and I have numerous reports from others that known international criminals, gangsters, and terrorists are doing business right here in Kaliburg, now I want answers."
The Minister was shocked. "We have very strict guidelines about who we let invest in ForIn," responded the Finance Minister. "We work with foreign investors who wish to invest in our economy. And ForIn provides a very valuable set of banking services for foreign nationals who wish to bring their money to Kalistan and make more money."
"Do you ask them their employment status?" asked the Chairman.
"Of course," said the Finance Minister.
"And so how can you say you don't know that ForIn is acting as a money launderer for gangsters, drugs lords and hosts of other unsavory characters?"
The Finance Minister laughed at the question. "Mr. Chairman, I can't say that."
The exasperated Committee Chairman closed his eyes and sighed into his microphone. "Minister King, you JUST said to me that you ask their employment status when they apply for accounts. And NOW you say you can't tell me what they do for employment? Do you really expect this committee to believe that?
The Minister calmly answered, "I can't characterize our depositors, but I can say for certain, no single person has ever put down on their application for a bank account at ForIn 'International Narcotics Trafficker' under profession. That would be ridiculous." The rest of the committee laughed at that comment as well.
"You may think this is a laughing matter," said the Chairman, "but its no joke. Moving on, what is this category, special fees? The charter says you will collect 1 percent on all withdraws into a foreign currency. And you have that sum listed on your audit. So what is this other column, special fees, in which the Bank earned ₭1.84 Billion Imperial last year in profit?"
The Finance Minister asked the Chairman to repeat the question, and the Chairman did, using a different set of words. "Special fees are fees we collect when certain of our clients ask us for particular discretion in handling their money and full accounting upon withdrawal. The Bank will offer specific accounts, as well as tax forms showing deposits, on withdraw, so they can submit those forms for tax purposes in their own nation. We will offer them interest on these special accounts, usually between 1 and 2%."
"And how much is the special fee for these select accounts?" asked the Chairman.
"ForIn charges 5.3% on those accounts," answered the Minister.
"5.3% on an interest bearing account yielding between 1 and 2% interest?" asked the Chairman incredulously. "My, these clients must not mind paying the bank to handle their money for them."
"I suppose not," answered the Minister.
"Why would someone pay 5.3% to open an interest earning account at ForIn that only pays 1-2%?" asked the Chairman. "For any normal businessman, that doesn't make any sense? Why not just invest it in their own country where there are not these 'special' handling fees?"
"The fee is for special handling, processing and accounting," said the Finance Minister. "Most of our normal accounts are treated normally, most of our depositors do not require these types of accounts. But some do, so we offer the service."
The Chairman paused. "It sounds more to me that you are allowing them to create something that looks like a business loss so they can reap a tax benefit abroad by making it look like they experienced capital losses in Kalistan, and the Bank is merely collecting their cut of that tax up front that foreign governments are being expected to recoup to the depositor. Tell me you see that! If this is the case, and the foreign investor knows that, you're telling me that ForIn is basically involved in embezzlement and defrauding foreign nations to the tune of almost 2 billion Imperial last year alone. Just by taking advantages of foreign countries' capital gains and business tax laws."
"Mr. Chairman," answered the Minister, "first, embezzlement and defrauding a foreign government is a very serious accusation you are levelling here against a Chartered National entity, and without proof of this accusation, it's some dangerous ground you are walking--but if you aren't prepared to indict me or the Bank, I hope you will refrain from making those kinds of charges. Second, ForIn doesn't write foreign tax laws, nor do we receive money from foreign nations. We can't control what stupid laws they have in place to encourage their capitalists. ForIn is not in control of any of that. And third, how can you seriously expect me to respond to this?" asked the Finance Minister. "Do you expect me to know what is in the minds of those who open these accounts with us?"
"Minister King, you are charged with oversight of a Private Financial Institution that receives money from foreign investors. I should hope you would know what they are thinking when they opt into one of these clearly for profit (from the Bank's perspective) accounts."
"Perhaps you can ask them yourself," answered the Finance Minister.
"Perhaps you will give us a few names so I can call them before this committee to receive their testimony," responded the Chairman.
"Mr. Chair, I am not at liberty to divulge the names of the Depositors at ForIn and doing so would violate the law."
The rest of the four hour hearing where different committee members repeatedly questioned, or alternatively defended the Finance Minister and ForIn went pretty much like this.

Kalistan comments on Baltusian Elections
"Her Imperial Majesty congratulates Baltusia", says FM
Kaliburg, Grand Duchy of Ananto
September 1, 5669
FM Jeffrey Hewlett congratulates Baltusia on recent elections
Her Imperial Majesty's Foreign Minister, Sir Jeffrey Hewlett was back on TV-1's "Kaliburg Tonight" last week discussing Kalistani warming toward Baltusia. "Her Imperial Majesty has sent an official letter to the Government in Johnston to congratulate the Baltusians on their recent elections, and to make sure they are aware that Kalistan is ready to talk with Baltusia and strengthen relations in the region." The comments came following the formation of an effective governing formation of a center right coalition made of the Libertarians, the Free Minded Party and the Baltusia First Party, led by incoming first minister Vince Macey.
"Kalistan is prepared to welcome Baltusia to Kaliburg to discuss improving trade and diplomacy between our two nations," said the Foreign Minister. "We are encouraged by the ouster of Mr. Merridan, who governed the nation as an unchecked authority, and the return of the power of the government to the people." Hewlett also said that Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Mary I Ananto was heartened that the people selected a party that is dedicated to the civil liberties of the people of the Nation.
"While Kalistan will not fully endorse an economic liberal agenda, it is our hope that there are still many areas that Kalistan and Baltusia may work together," said Minister Hewlett. "Included among those is Anantonese security. If Baltusia truly wishes to be a partner in the security of the Anantonese Ocean, there is room for them at the table."
The Foreign Minister, while answering questions about Playa de Paz, south of San Luis, said "Baltusia seems content with her Imperial Majesty keeping her estate there, so long as we continue our agreements that have proceeded this government regarding the flying of Baltusian colors over Kalistani colors on the estate. It is a small concession that is more symbolic than anything, and it is one her Imperial Majesty is happy to continue to observe to demonstrate her understanding of the current political situation in San Luis." The foreign Minister noted that Kalistan has not obtained extraterritoriality for the estate, so despite the fact that the Empress generally lives at and holds residency at Playa de Paz for four month of the year, the land still falls under Baltusian jurisdiction and is subject to all Baltusian and San Luis laws.
"She did note her interest in purchasing adjacent stretches of land and would like to aggrandize the estate as far as she may under Baltusian law," said the Foreign Minister. "To accomplish this goal is is important that our two nations maintain as close and as friendly relations as possible. To this end, she would love to have the opportunity to meet with and entertain First Minister Macey at her home this winter, to sort of introduce herself, introduce the Crown Prince, and speak with the First Minister informally, as a genuine and sincere effort to get to know the incoming Libertarian and find out what their positions are on several important matters, especially as pertaining to Playa de Paz, San Luis state, Kalistan and Gaduridos, and the Anantonese Ocean region. She also wants to make herself available to talk to the First Minister about the Joint Lucid Accords, which has governed the bilateral arrangement between Kalistan and Baltusia for decades now.

Princess Nicolette named Dah Surf Co. Brand Ambassador
"Dah is premier surf gear," says Her Highness
Luxon, Grand Duchy of Ananto
September 10, 5669
Princess Nicolette tries her hand at modelling while surfing
Her Highness, Princess Nicolette Ananto-Collins, recently mustered out of National Service, has been signed to represent Dah Surf Company in their upcoming marketing campaign. "No, I'm not a spokesmodel," said the Princess. "I endorse the brand because I use the brand. Dah is just premier surf gear. I surf only in Dah wetsuits, I only use Dah boards. This company has been with me my entire life, and I would like to get more people into surfing internationally, so I decided to work with Dah to carry the brand around the world."
The Princess immediately took to the waves throughout the month of August, and though she did not qualify for Luxon this year due to her completion of her National Service, she was still in Luxon for the competition, and sat with the Dah reps in the Dah tent. "There are a few new companies starting now to try to catch up to Dah in terms of marketing surf gear," said brand manager Keith Yeager. "Regal Boards is probably the best of the competitors we are seeing out there now: of the top five surfers on the circuit, one of them, Brad Milligan has chosen to ride Regal, and he does really good. Only some of that is, of course, the board: He's really an excellent surfer." Milligan went on to place third at Luxon, but Regal boards got a big boost from his overall Summer 5669 performance.
Princess Nicolette, or Nicki as she prefers these days, will surf in Luxon until later this month, when she is expected to fly to Xsampa to follow up her brother's visit last year, and perhaps introduce Dah to the Dovani Market. "Dah has had a little bit of opportunity to do some market research," said the Princess. "But surfing is still very much a novelty in Xsampa. Dah was thrilled to learn that the board my brother borrowed from the young people he surfed with was one of theirs. So these boards are getting overseas somehow: Dah's reputation reaches to the other side of the planet, somehow."
Xsampa is the first stop in the Princess' multi country itinerary. "Well, see: they want to take pictures of me, you know, standing on the beach next to their board, surfing, some action shots. We all know sex sells in advertising, and yeah, I think its pretty romantic to see a photo of a good looking girl or guy doing something exciting like surfing in some exotic location. They want to make a calendar out of it for next year, and I'm going to be one of three girls and two guys to be featured in their calendar. So I guess it is modelling in a way. I'm not in the picture for fashion purposes: I'll mostly be in action shots where I'm pulling out of a tube carving up some gnarly face, but yeah, I'm definitely gonna look good doing it. I figure, if people are gonna be staring at me anyway, I'm gonna be thrashin!"
The Princess expects to be back in Kalistan by New Years where she will take a few months off, before she begins preparing to compete in the 5670 surfing season. "I feel confident that I picked up pretty much where I left off," said the Princess. "I was stationed in Luxon, and my job as a typist in the Admin section left me plenty of time to ride off the the shore and get some surfing in during the weekends. So I didn't lose a lot of practice time, really. I was surfing the Swell the entire time. Next summer I'm going for the Crown!"
Dah reported that Her Highness, the Princess agreed to become Brand Ambassador for the sum of ₭1 Imperial Rubel a year. "She wouldn't take anymore," said Yeager. "Believe me, we offered it: Do you have any idea how many surfboards we're gonna sell once that calendar comes out? How many tons of surf wax? But, she wouldn't take it. I think she is just looking for something to do that allows her to surf as much as she can and to promote the sport." For its part, when the announcement that Princess Nicki had agreed to become Brand Ambassador, Dah Surf Company's (DSC) stock rose 15% in the KalSiE.
