LIkatonian VX Clouds produce disastrous results for Socialist Militia

In response to the mass murder of Socialist Militia forces in Keymon by the warcriminals in Likatonia, Kalistan has officially suspended all diplomatic and economic relations with Likatonia and her allies, and will move to cancel all treaties that may exist between the two nations.

On this solemn occasion, Mica Allen, Leader of the Socialist Party of Kalistan issued the following statement:

The Likatonian VX gas initiative has, for all intents and purposes, effectively ended Socialist involvement in the Keymon Conflict.  We have heard reports of entire socialist regiments being wiped out in a matter of minutes as Likatonian planes saturated the countryside with VX.  Kalistan, having outlawed chemical weaponry centuries ago, never sent VX reagent to the front, and as a result, it produced devastating results.  Most units have failed to make any contact with us in the last few weeks, and we can only presume that they are all dead.  All socialists who remain alive have been ordered to make their way toward friendly controlled beach heads for evacuation from the island, but to date, only 1500 of our initial 7500 partisans have cleared the so-called "free fire" area.  Most of those units were located in and around Eden's Hamlets in the north of the island.  This criminal, no, this sociopathic act, which violates every international law outlawing the use of chemical weaponry, must be answered for by the Likatonian Government, but for now, our combat missions have ended.  We will stand by on the side of freedom loving people around the world, but the loss of six thousand of our brave and skilled partisans, 80 percent of the brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters that volunteered to go and fight for the liberation of that imprisoned and subjugated island in just a short time is too much for our Party to bear.  Most especially since the apparently limitless force of Likatonia is irresistible anywhere they and their allies choose to engage.  But we swear here and now, we will NEVER allow the mistake of intervention of this sort to be repeated.

Of the 1500 mentioned by Allen in her speech, most still remain in the safe zones controlled by Trigunian units due to lack of transport as a result of the military blockade of the island.  They will remain there until either they are over run by the dread forces of the Fascists, or they are transported off the island, but there is little chance that they will be taken alive if the fascists from Likatonia ever decide to make a final push into the zone.  While they live, they fight, and while they fight, they fight Likatonia.

The Socialist Party unilaterally declared a day of mourning in Kalistan, and the entire nation responded with 100 minutes of silence.  Allen announced her resignation as Party Leader the next day.  It was reported, though not confirmed, that her daughter had volunteered for service in Keymon, and was likely among the dead.
