International Naval Mission: Istalia and Deltaria begin operations in the Migrant Pass

First evacuations and aid launched by the Allies, but the chaos in Selucia is hindering the assistance efforts to the Yeudi-Selucians. The Joint Command is studying alternative solutions

MIGRANT PASS - The International Naval Mission launched by the Joint International Initiative for the Assistance to the Yeudi-Selucians and the Security of the Migrant Pass has officially entered its operational phase. The Istalian naval air squadron has reached the area and joined the naval units deployed by Deltaria, beginning maritime traffic patrols and establishing naval and air coverage over the waters surrounding the Selucia archipelago.

The joint force is ensuring constant surveillance of one of the most sensitive routes in the region, in an effort to prevent incidents, blockades or interference resulting from the growing internal instability in Selucia. At the same time, the first evacuation operations and airdrops of humanitarian supplies for the Yeudi-Selucian community, currently further under severe pressure due to the deteriorating internal situation, have begun.

According to the Joint Mission Command, currently composed primarily of Istalian and Deltarian official, aid distribution, thorugh airborne launches, is encountering increasingly serious difficulties. Information provided by intelligence resources on the ground, local reports and satellite imagery analysis confirm that some of the airdropped aid is being systematically intercepted by non-Yeudi people or by factions involved in the Selucian crisis. In fact, the disruption of internal trade and the reduction in national production and distribution, is pushing non Yeudis and factions to try to profit, or just to find relief, of the aid.

But an even more pressing issue, however, is further exacerbating the vulnerability of persecuted Yeudi-Selucians trying to fly the country or heading to the area controlled by the so-called Principality of Calantia, currently the only faction to have openly denounced the ongoing persecution: domestic air traffic has almost completely stopped, while maritime traffic has suffered an unprecedented decline. In the areas controlled by the military regime, furthermore, left leaderless after the natural death of Emperor Scipio a few months ago, ports, bus stations and airports are heavily guarded, making any escape attempt extremely difficult. Then, It is gradually being ascertained, with regret by the Italian Government, that is considerable the portion of the Selucian population distrusts the Yeudi, is not willing to help them and indeed, there have even been cases of denunciations and collaboration with the forces of the military regime.

In light of the operational difficulties, the Joint Command has began an in-depth analysis of possible alternative solutions to facilitate the assistance and evacuation of Yeudi civilians. No option has been ruled out at this time, including coordinated sea operations, targeted humanitarian corridors or intensified air missions in areas less controlled by the regime.

The Istalian Defense Staff has already announced that an agreement with Istalian Airways has been reached to place several of the company’s aircraft at the Mission’s disposal, to be operated and crewed by military personnel, thereby significantly expanding the capacity of the humanitarian air bridges. The Triad Republic has also made its southern airports available as arrival hubs for evacuation and aid flights. On Selucia, the air bridges for the moment will interest West Aquilonia, where the Principate already expressed willingness to cooperate, also considering the international support that it is receiving, but the issue there is that Yeudi-Selucians can find a safe place already in West Aquilonia and many of them are not truly willing to leave Selucia, which for most of them is simply their home for generations, and for some even since ancient times. So, the Joint Command is focused on find a way to reach the areas where the Yeudi are threatened.

The Istalian and Delta forces, already fully operational, are now awaiting the arrival of contingents and officers from the other nations of Majatran and the Migrant Pass basin, the only ones authorized to join the Mission following the agreement reached between the Initiative's member states.

In a note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government stated:

As the crisis worsens and international pressure grows, the International Naval Mission could be the last concrete instrument to ensure assistance to the most vulnerable and maintain the region's security. The coming months will be crucial.
