Tsargrad - After discussions between Prime Minister Lazarescu and His Imperial Majesty the Czar, the Imperial Assembly was dissolved last night by imperial decree, triggering new elections to be held in three months time. The decision was made after Lazarescu failed to sack his deputy prime minister and treasurer Zvonko Stojčević for his (succesfull) attempts at rejecting the UBI extension. Shortly after this attempt, several KDU ministers resigned, and Lazarescu met with Czar Vjekoslav to discuss the political crisis. After this discussion, the Czar signed the decree to dissolve the Assembly and call for new elections. 

Parties, somewhat suprised by the quick fall of the Third Lazarescu Ministry, scrambled to respond and launch their electoral campaigns. The KDU, despite attempts to make Stojčević the leader of the party, failed to select a new leader and will thus head into the election without one similar to the last election. The SSD, having picked Lazarescu before, has decided to give faith to their Prime Minister for another cycle, hoping that his rather succesfull run in the previous two terms could give him the Prime Minister's bonus in the election. 

But as both parties have been falling dramatically in the polls, all eyes are on the newly announced "Forward in Freedom" electoral alliance (Naprijed sa Slobodom/NsS). This alliance, consisting of the social liberals and the liberal Savez!, is led by former imperial treasurer and Savez! leader Božo Sedlar, who united the two parties under the new liberal coalition last month as trouble brewed within the Lazarescu government. Despite Savez! its rocky history in government, the new combination seems to have attracted disgruntled voters attracted by the new vision of the NsS. So far, they have promised to introduce federalism in Deltaria, liberalize the economy, further intergration into SOMECO and extend individual freedoms. Since the fall of the government, Sedlar has also slightly hinted at constitutional reform, promising "stable and forward thinking" leadership. 

While somewhat chaotic, election season has started and after two years of stagnation and internal fights the nation is ready to pick a new, stable government for the years ahead.
