Former wrestler Szczepan Kozak during his last World championship in 5692, where he secured his last fifth-consecutive gold medal
Former wrestler Szczepan Kozak, one of Valruzia’s most recognisable sports figures and a five-time consecutive world champion in his category, has officially entered the political arena with the launch of a new regional political platform, the People’s Front of Kampania (Front Ludowy Kampanii). The announcement was made today in Kampania, marking Kozak’s first formal step into Valruzian politics.
Often referred to by the media as Valruzia’s "Golden Boy" due to his unparalleled success on the international wrestling circuit, Kozak stated that the new movement aims to “keep Kampanians’ interests at the forefront of Valruzian politics”, presenting the Front as a vehicle for regional representation following the electoral reform that created a single nationwide constituency and removed the regional seat distribution.
The presentation of this new political party was preceded a few days ago by the appearance of a series of advertising posters throughout the region criticising the "unequal distribution" of contributions from the citizens of Kampania to the rest of Valruzia, bearing the party logo but without any visible text that could be attributed to any political group at that time. Now, during the presentation, Mr Kozak has confirmed the authorship, arguing that it is necessary for the citizens of Kampania to be aware of "the mistreatment to which the region is constantly subjected".

"With the new electoral reform, the only advantage our region – which contributes enormously at the national level thanks to the hard work of our workers – had is being diluted by candidates who may not necessarily have Kampania's best interests at heart" has said Mr. Kozak to a roaring audience.
Mr. Kozak, who stated that he has been "a longtime supporter and even affiliate of the Communist Party of Valruzia" and its Kampanian branch, believes that with the new system, it is necessary to have this kind of political platforms, "that can bring to the national parliament the voice of the regions" as he believes the Parliament of the Region "is an invention by Sovereign Valruzia and Forward Valruzia to appear like they are actively listening to the will of the regions without actually having to do so in the Sejm", but has also wanted to make clear that his formation is, in no way, "a separatist political party", but rather a sovereignist political formation to protect the interests of the Kampanian workers. Following his discourse, political observers have been quick to point out that the new formation could pose a particular challenge to the Communist Party of Valruzia, which has historically relied on strong popular support in the region, considered its own stronghold. In fact, during the presentation, it was announced that two of the KPW's deputies in the Kampanian Sejmik had already switched parties, becoming the formation "first political representatives", and reducing the party's strength in the regional parliament from 27 out of 71 to 25, only 4 above the conservative socialists of Workers' Vanguard.
While Kozak has no prior experience in elected office, his personal popularity, media visibility and symbolic status are widely seen as key assets for the new party. Analysts note that he is not the first elite athlete to become involved in politics since prior to him, former Chancellor Iwan Nowik was an expert judoka and world champion.
At this stage, the organizational structure, programme and long-term strategy of the People’s Front of Kampania remain undefined, altough according to the discourse that has been heard, it is heavily suggested that the emphasis will be in wokers' rights and more sovereignty for the region, but without pushing over the verge of independence – or at least, for the moment. According to a flash poll following the launch, more than two thirds of Kampanians are in favor of some kind of "sovereign movement" in the region.
