Branovice - In Deltaria's finance capital Branovice many bankers, government officials and the Reserve Bank have been pushing for the last step in economic intergration: a common currency. Over the last few decades Deltaria and Istalia have been the main drivers to push for more economic intergration within SOMECO, resulting in one of the most intergrated markets in Terra. SOMECO member states now trade freely with almost no limitations, resources exchange hands without much restriction and people travel freely as labour markets have merged. But there was always one step that member states did not dare to look at: currency

Istalia started to nudge the entire organization towards the idea by first proposing new mechanisms to allign each member states currency. This move was met with relative unease, largely because it is seen as a major step towards full intergration. The SSD-KDU government was unsure whether such a step would benefit Deltaria in the long run. But with the new liberal government of Prime Minister Bastašić, sentiment has shifted towards Istalian proposals and a willingness to work towards currency allignment is more then present within Deltaria. 

Imperial Treasurer Sedlar announced that Deltaria will study Istalian proposals for currency allignment, and is willing to "seriously discuss the introduction of a single currency for all member states" in the near future. If both countries succeed in pushing the idea towards reality, it would mean a significant step towards a fully intergrated single market and the introduction of one of the most widely used currencies ever used within Majatra. A step likely to further push SOMECO to become the most effective economic bloc's on Terra.
