Exactly one year after the Nadiyan Commission for Statistics, Forecasts, Censuses announced the organization of the Century Census, the government has finally released the results of the 8 months long work on the fields and another 4 months to analyze, compile, and purify the dates gathered, and the stats are very good for Nadiya.

The census was divided into three major categories those being:

I) Population growth and change in fertility 



I-a) Population 
The first instances of the All-Nadiyan Population Census go back to 5590 when the Free Democratic Republic of Brakav encouraged the members of the Nadiyan Economic Community to organize joint censuses of the population to reflect the growing unity within the block, the measure also involved the Trigunian Tsardom which caused a lot of debates at the time. According to the 5590 census, the reported population in the Trigunian archipelago was 92,4 million, a stark contrast to the pre-1TW population of 99,8 million reported in Trigunia indicating that even after 30 years since the end of the 1TW the population number didn't recover due to the heavy damages.

However, the population in the isles began to steadily grow going from 92,4 million to a remarkable 105,2 million before the start of the 2TW that caused the loss of 5 million lives across both sides before quickly picking pace again as the newly founded republics began the reconstruction process and launched the Unification Protocol of the NEC with the population reaching the milestone of 116 million citizens by the dawn of the Nadiyan Confederation. 

The number of people kept its current steady but controlled pace until the Kerisian war exploded with NEKK, Nadiya lost 3,6 million lives on the front going from 121 million citizens to 118 million in 5683 mainly due to the Nadiyan Army's policy of "quantity over qualify" that caused unprepared recruits and newly drafted civilians to go to the front they knew nothing about. Yet the population recovery was pretty quick as the 5690 census recorded 120 million citizens followed closely by the the 5700 census.

I-b) Fertility (Number of children per women)

At the start of 5590, the average number of children a woman would have in a lifetime across both the NEC and Trigunian Tsardom was a pretty high 2,8 children which is way above the recommended renewable threshold of 2,1 this is mainly due to both sides of the Trigunian Disaster still recovering from the 1TW with many citizens being assured work as every faction was trying to go back to normal as soon as possible. This return to normal culminated at the start of the 57th century as it started dipping slowly until reaching the renewable threshold of 2,1 before the start of the 2TW.

The deployment of millions to the war front alongside the mass destruction caused by the deployment of biological weapons alongside bombing campaigns on industrial and urban centers caused birth rates to collapse before the start of a baby-boom during reconstruction. The loosening of immigration policies, carrying of the Unification Protocol, reconstruction campaigns that consisted in the reindustrialization of the new free republics coupled with the NEC implement pro childcare policies caused the birth rates to jump from a blew renewable rate of 1,6 to a 4,8 in what many call the "Nadiyan Rebirth".

Following the boom, the birth rates continued declining slowly even as Nadiya unified in 5640 and they continued dropping steadily thanks to the central government's continued commitment to childcare policies even when they implemented austerity under Konstantinova's government which prevented a demographic crash right out of the boom. In 5680, birthrates reached 3,2, but to the surprise of everyone, the number of children rose during the Kerisian War. This comes down to two factors, the war not being on such a major scale as the 1TW, and the damages mainly being located in NEKK rather than Nadiya proper.

Finally, the birthrates declined sharply from 4,2 back to 3,5 before slowing down the decline due to the central government's new social and economic ventures notably the ones in the Kerisian empire.

II) Societal developments



II-a) Median age & life expectancy

Historically, Nadiya's life expectancy was low given the deaths caused by the 1TW and the rather high percentage of the population being composed of 1-18 age bracket as a result of the both the republics and the Tsardom recovering from the war. The median age kept on rising as the younger generations grew out of their youth and dragged with them life expectancy until it 66 in 5620.

The median age then promptly collapsed due to the 2TW and the losses that came from it, but it picked back before slowing down slightly when the Konstantinova government was inaugurated and they implemented sweeping austerity measures that mostly targeted pensions and retirement funds. Yet Nadiyans were expected to live up to 75 years in 5680, the Kerisian war brought down life expectancy by 10 years before it picked up again as Nadiya recovered from the war.

II-b) Human Development & Quality of Life

Historically speaking, during the Trigunian Disaster, was comparable to one of a medium-income developing country mainly due to the consequences of the 1TW but also the lack of recognition given to the breakaway republics after the GWR by the international community. The positive growth came to a halt with the eruption of the 2TW that caused a sharp decline across the isles especially in Radin and Kozacchyna, two regions that were the most active parts of the NEC's offensive.

Following the war and the implementation of the reconstruction programs, the quality of began to grow steadily as the NEC carried out the Unification Protocol. The Unification of Nadiya caused the HDI to skyrocket as the new central government launched uniformization policies in the sectors of healthcare, environment, security, and transportation by addressing the issue of medical deserts in republics that used to have a private healthcare system, unifying the models of the police forces and transportation network to ensure both a safe communities with a steady work flow, and the creation of Haivan alongside the implementation of environmental laws helped reverse much of the issues that held back societal growth in Nadiya.

However, the HDI took a dive when Chief Executive Konstantinova implemented sweeping austerity on Nadiya and raised taxes as ordered by the newly appointed governor of the Nadiyan Central Bank Evelina Maximovna. Growth stalled until the NCB declared Nadiya debt free and allowed for the government to once again have a deficit budget, this coincided with the launch of Operation Polaris, a massive housing plan that guaranteed social and affordable housing to everyone since the Confederal Government built around 120 million square meters annually to meet the 30 sq m recommended for comfortable living in a 1 person household.

The housing policies combined with the economic liberalization of Nadiya allowed for a massive surge in the quality of life for the average Nadiyan until 5680 when the KW broke out. The rationing of food, conscription of the population, and emergency tax hikes alongside seizure of factories to turn them into military complexes severely impacted the HDI.

Yet even as Evelina Maximovna hijacked the budget in 84 and installed hardline austerity again to lower the debt, the ensuing economic prosperity brought on by the proclamation of the Kerisian empire allowed Nadiya to jump back quickly begin becoming a truly developed country.

III) Economic developments & debt management



The Trigunian archipelago has a history of deficit spending even in times of economic tightness, this can be seen in the average budget difference across both the NEC and ATIP swaying around the [-6,0] bracket before bottoming at a 14% deficit during the 2TW with debt skyrocketing from 52% to 74%.

In post war environment, even tho there were initiatives to decrease the budget deficits, the costs of the reconstruction policies and the  subsequent Unification Protocol caused debt to balloon we t an alarming rate with it going from 74% to 95% in the span of 7 years then 95% to 120% at the dawn of the Nadiyan unification. However, the Konstantinova administration's appointment of Evelina Maximovna at the helm of the NCB turned the momentum around as the central bank imposed radical austerity and a 13% surplus budget alongside waging a war on the black market and letting the Nadiyan Ruble loose.

Her radical reforms of Nadiya's financial world coupled with the defacto subjugation of the central government's finances to the NCB, it allowed for debt to collapse quickly by going from 120% to an amazing 30% in the span of 13 years, an amazing feat by financial standards. With Nadiya's debt settled and the financial world alive again, the NCB loosened its leash slightly and allowed for the succeeding Thaller administration to to begin spending money more freely and approve more economic ventures.

This honeymoon came to a crash when the KW erupted and Nadiya had to once again adopt a deep deficit on top of the already existing military measures that caused the economy to retract by 7% and debt to go from 41% pre war back to 70%. But shortly after, the NCB took over the confederal budget and began paying off debt until it 20%. Now with the war in New Verham still raging and the central government's funding of the Nadiyan Red Cross still ongoing, there can only be predictions on how this will impact the Nadiyan debt and government spending in general.
