Berger Cabinet signs humanitarian aid agreement with New Verham Central Government

After April's elections saw the Bigman-led VVP victorious, Berger quickly formed a coalition with the corporate-elements of the Liberal Republican Party and the UTP-FTL. The broad right-wing coalition also enjoys a supply of confidence from the UTP-FLT Senate faction which has agreed, to the dismay of its leader W. von Thaller, to support the cabinet-coalition in security and foreign policy aspects. While the budget still has to be passed to completely reactivate the dormant resources of the Directorate of Foreign Affairs, Berger has made contact with historical partners on the Dovanian continent. The first to amicably respond was the war-torn country of New Verham.

A small delegations of the Directorate, the Presidential Office as well as some business representatives have made their way to Baatrynsentii to meet with New-Verhamese officials to iron out pre-agreed conditions for financial aid. Henry Boernike, Junior Officer in the Dovani-branch of the Directorate stated that its of utmost importance to the Berger government to help out partners and friends all over the world and as such they've made contact with New Verham. While the negotiations prior to the physical meeting have not been easy due to the statist influence in the government in New Verham, they've reached a compromise solution. It is quite obvious that the positive outcome of the talks are due to the announced economic offensive into manufacturing by the central government in Baatrynsentii.

While the literal-details are not known, the main points of the agreement involve something that has been referred to as a "basic aid package" sent out of solidarity with their old partners, it includes 2 billion Triad Credits for reconstruction and another 2 billion as a 0% loan. While these could be referred to as gifts, the inclusion of the "extended package" in the agreement paints the negotiations in a classical Triad-business light. An additional 8 billion triad credits will be invested in form of share and asset deals mostly coming out of the pockets of interested funds usually in the form of private-public parntnerships, a quite traditional tool in the set of the Triad Directorate.

The Directorate wants to signal to other potential partners that the Triad has opened its doors again after the quite disappointing Heiss-era loss of foreign policy significance.
