The Armed Forces of Kundrati announces it's first plane and ship program: the Meliora and the Itxaropena

Kasaema - The Minister of Defense Polion Goicoetchea has announced in a press conference that new programs to rejuvenate the Kundrati economy and the shipyards in the south will begin construction after a few years of planning and obtaining documents and various items that could assist in the production of these ships and planes.

The first program announced was the Meliora strike fighter program. The Meliora is planned to be a all-weather aircraft for air superiority and attack purposes. An twin seater and twin engine aircraft it is hoped that the Meliora could be the first step for the Kundrati defense industry to regain it's footing after a century and a half of stagnation and atrophy with the current Armed Forces of Kundrati relying on technology that would leave it completely outmatched were it invaded or were it to experience a civil conflict. The plane itself has a main radar for terrain following and terrain avoidance purposes, simultaneously tracking of up to ten air targets and the ability to attack four targets in land, sea and air, electronic countermeasures, and aerial refueling measures.

The second program announced was the Itxaropena oceanic patrol vessel program. The Itxaropena is meant to be a common program for the patrolling of the Artanian and Lievenian Seas to control maritime traffic, escort and protect ships in times of conflict, neutralize terrorism, piracy and trafficking in the high seas, and search and rescue measures. The hope is that this ship can be produced for cheap and allow Kundrati to contribute to the peace of the seas in a less than expensive way. 

The plan for the Meliora strike fighter is to produce 10 test planes and, should those go well, produce up to 100 service aircraft so that they can provide a new technological component to the Kundrati Air Force. The Kundrati Navy is planned to have 12 Itxaropena oceanic patrol vessels: 6 for the Lievenian Sea and 6 for the Artanian Sea. As for the completion date, the first Itxaropenas are expected to be completed by 5715 while the first Melioras are expected to enter the Kundrati Air Force arsenal by 5714 with the expectation that both the Melioras and Itxaropenas will be gradually introduced over the next 10 years.
