The Prime Minister, Stephen Young has indicated that Luthori was “ready” to join the Majatran-Artanian Treaty Organisation, the Vanukean and Narik-Darnussian military alliance focusing on “preserving peace and stability” in the sector. 

Luthori was originally heavily involved in the drafting process, as former Prime Minister Seddon heavily lobbied for the quick ratification of the treaty by Parliament. Unfortunately, Mr. Seddon’s cabinet collapse in 5705 stalled the process in a gridlocked Imperial Parliament where the Tories only had a minority government. 

His successor, Lord Huffington, also pressed for the ratification of the Majatran-Artanian Treaty – such process would make Luthori ascend as a full member of MATO, like the Kingdom of Vanuku and the Dual Republic, in which Luthori has been in a military alliance for now over numerous decades. 

The move was criticised by pacifist organisations who denounced “the risk of continued escalation of the international order” through this entry into the organisation. Mark Oliver, Labour MP has for his part denounced the “government’s lack of observation” in terms of international tensions. The Labour MP pointed at the recent “Eastern Terra Cooperation Conference” - saying that “Luthori ascending to MATO would endanger the world’s current fragile balance of powers”. 

While some crticised the move – the government’s move was welcomed by the Luthorian military-industrial complex – the Conservative Party, currently dominated by “Seddonite” conservatives, while performing badly on the polls for the upcoming election has nevertheless successfully pulled the trigger on this question – with Prime Minister Huffington engaging himself to sign the Majatran-Artanian Treaty in “the next few days”. 

While some left-wing Labour Party members have sharply criticised the move and demanded that the Labour Party opposes this move through a vote of no-confidence in the Diet – Mr. Holian-Keaty's Labour seems unwilling to press the subject further, specifically as the general election approaches. 

Currently, Labour polls ahead on every pollster, even Conservative-leaning ones – the Guardian states that the Labour Party’s chance of victory is of 4 to 1 compared to the Tories right now. 

Mr. Holian-Keaty has stated that the ascension of Luthori into MATO would be a “breach of precedent by the Foreign Office concerning international military alliances and partnerships”, but has nonetheless refused to comment on a possible withdrawal if Labour takes the Premiership – saying that a Labour government would “carefully assess Luthori’s security partnerships and decide on a case-to-case basis”
