Berger VVP flexes its muscles in 5708 Election cycle

Considering the news-cycle mostly reproducing VVP rhetorics about financial market numbers and record job growth in the industrial sector due to the military industrial complex growing its presence in Red Stad and Dual Republican owned factory districts in Himmelshtern, it is not surprising to see the results of the general election of April 5708. Both the Senate and the Presidential race paint a clear picture, the previously unsure citizens have been placated by Berger’s impressive physique and steadfast policy, the biceps President has led the previous Three-Republics back to one Artanian soul in a peaceful and smooth transition from the Triad back to the inherent dualism of the two brother Republics of Narikaton and Darnussia. The population is looking toward Bannerhafen with optimism and hope, to an even more globalized future of the Dual Republic; while Leftists and Socialists voiced their usual criticism of VVP dominated governments, other critics have only made negative remarks about stepping away from reconciliatory foreign policy stances as recent months have made geopolitics increasingly bipolarized.



The Senate elections were also dramatically influenced by the death of the two Thaller twins, as the result of the death of them led to the merger of the two parties, which now sit at 15% of the vote, which is a lot more than many expected; while the rest of the former Thallerist voters went more or less in unity toward the VVP, the non-Thallerist monarchist movement MTP has profited from their merger too. Social-Democrats did not have a good night as they’ve lost the most aside of the Thallerists which was to be expected as the GRP usually loses votes in times of exceptional VVP performance due to non-aligned voters shifting toward the orange Lion. The Center stayed more or less the same with the LRP making minor gains. Almost the same can be said for the far-right as the NU managed to also make a gain of 1% in comparison to the last election. As already stated above, the VVP is the big winner of the night, finishing with 35% of the vote which results in a 4% gain relative to its previous performance. Looking into potential coalition agreements, the VVP has all options open as they could achieve a majority with the three parties following them percentage-wise; analysts expect them to form a coalition with the UTP-FTL as its continued existence is still not ensured as the Thaller Family Foundation has not yet made a guarantee on its financial support following the results of this election.



A lot less can be said about the presidential ballot, as Heinrich Berger is one of the most popular sitting Presidents in Dual and Triad Republican history with his competitor Björn Jeff barely reaching 21% in the first round. The Grand Reformist Party candidate Jeff ran on a platform of establishing wealth-tax and increasing the corporate tax rate emphasizing social equality above all. While the core voters of the GRP were enthusiastic to vote on this platform, independents were more inclined to vote for Berger who instead opted to run on a campaign focused on Artanian foreign policy, flirting with the idea of continental cooperation and the establishment of a revolutionary Artanian internal market.
