Justice Party Elects New Leader

The Justice Party has elected its second leader, Mr. Kawin Kittisakchai, following a three-way leadership contest triggered by the resignation of the party’s founding leader, Thaksin Luang. Kawin secured the leadership on the first ballot with 76.8% of the vote, defeating Assemblyman Phimmon Akkarapreecha, who received 13.4%, and human rights lawyer Chanin Inthakan, who garnered 7.1%. The campaign was notably cordial, with Kawin widely regarded as the frontrunner from the moment the race was called.

Though the youngest major party leader, Kawin is highly educated, having earned an honours degree in economics from Khemkhaeng University and a master’s in public policy from the University of Nowogard in Valruzia. Prior to entering politics, he worked in finance and management consulting, where he developed a reputation for policy expertise and innovation. He entered the National Assembly following the 5643 election after being recruited by then–Justice Party leader Thaksin Luang.

Kawin’s popularity and campaigning skill are widely credited with having played a significant role in the Justice Party’s performance in the 5643 general election, in which it emerged as the second-largest party, the largest opposition force, and the de facto leader of South Dovani’s political left. Since joining the National Assembly, Kawin has focused on economic modernization, anti-corruption measures, government transparency, and youth engagement, and is broadly seen as the “face of a new generation” within the party.

In his victory speech, delivered alongside his former rivals Phimmon and Chanin, Kawin called on the party and the wider progressive opposition to unite ahead of the 5646 presidential and 5647 legislative elections, arguing that cohesion would be essential to defeating the conservative coalition that has governed South Dovani since 5631. Prime Minister Prasert congratulated Kawin on his victory in a public statement, while urging him to "serve as a voice of reason despite the chorus of irrational voices on the Left."

HANSAI RATH (ฮันไซรัฐ; lit. "Hansai State") is a daily broadsheet newspaper and media company headquartered in Udon Nakhon, South Dovani. It is the longest-running national publication. 
The newspaper has historically been tied to the Hanzenese monarchy and generally adheres to a conservative political stance.
