Supreme Court to Consider Dissolution of Parties Linked to NERI Files Scandal
Supreme Court must reach a ruling on the legality of NEWP and PIE by 11 June, under Article 12 of the National Integrity Act

Udon Nakhon – The Supreme Court of South Dovani has announced that it will initiate a review into the conduct of the New Elephant Workers' Party (NEWP) and the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (PIE), pursuant to the Court's newly granted powers under Article 12 of the National Integrity Act to dissolve political parties and remove sitting Assemblypersons found to have contributed "to the grave destabilization of the national institutional order or national cohesion." Both the NEWP and PIE were named frequently in the NERI Files, leaked documents alleging endemic corruption in South Dovani's political system which have sparked ongoing nationwide unrest for weeks. According to the National Integrity Act, the Supreme Court must issue a ruling within 30 days of initiating its review.
