Under more strict security measures, elections in Valruzia today have been carried out with normalcy. Upon final counting of the votes, Sovereign Valruzia has emerged victors with over 40% of the total votes,a result many political analysts attribute not only to their electoral program for this election but also due to the murder of their previous candidate and leader, Dariusz Mech, just the previous month. With a tournout of 82.15%, the only political party that has surged in the results has been Sovereign Valruzia, while the others, including Chancellor Judyta Kram's KPW, have suffered as a result.
Sovereign Valruzia: 41.60% (+21.59%), 257 seats (+135)
Forward Valruzia: 17.75% (–3.92%), 109 seats (–22)
Communist Party of Valruzia: 13.08% (–7.62%), 80 seats (–46)
Socialdemocratic–Agrarian Party: 12.25% (–2.36%), 75 seats (–13)
People's Front of Kampania: 7.79% (–0.63%), 48 seats (–3)
Valruzian Alliance: 5.24% (–1.03%), 32seats (–6)
Upon the final results Zenon Golas, Sovereign Valruzia's new candidate elected to replace Dariusz Mech after a National Committee decision, appeared on the party headquarters to claim victory and the right to lead the next government.
"Those who seeked to undermine us and perform the execrable terrorist attack that took the life of our dear Dariusz have only found out that this party, and Valruzian society, is stronger than ever, and that we will not cede to terrorism. We will fight and we will prosecute those who attack our democracy, because Valruzian society knows what it is to live under fear and do not allow the past to be repeated" said during his first speech already as election winner.
Chancellor Judyta Kram acknowledged the results as "disappointing" for her party – the worst share of vote ever – and announced her resignation as a result. "When you are a leader, you have to make tough decisions. As Chancellor, I did what I thought was best for our country, but it was clearly not enough for our citizens. As a result, I have no option but to tender my resignation to our party bureau so that we can together find a new leader able to mobilize and bring back our supporters".
It is expected that Sovereign Valruzia will now start contact withthe different political parties to form the next government, with many believing that the most probable outcome is a coalition with the SPR or a much less likely agreement with the People's Front of Kampania, as many rule out an agreement with the KPW. "Sovereign Valruzia has found another ally on the left that is not as "toxic" as the KPW, and they will probably go that way" says Teodor Masz, political analyst.
