Patriotic Alliance Electoral Coalition Formally Dissolves
The coalition formed by late PM Prasert Thanomchai and including the UCF, HHP, and HP, has dissolved after each party announced its exit

Udon Nakhon – Today, in a joint communique signed by the leaders of the United Conservative Front (UCF), Hanzen Heritage Party (HHP), and Homeland Party (HP), the parties confirmed the formal dissolution of the Patriotic Alliance electoral coalition. Originally formed in August 5630 under the leadership of the late Prime Minister Prasert Thanomchai, the Patriotic Alliance existed to consolidate the political right, particularly in support of Kob Suchinda’s first presidential campaign. The Homeland Party joined the coalition in December 5635.

Relations within the Patriotic Alliance were often tense, especially between the traditionally conservative Homeland Party and the far-right populist HHP. Personal relations between Anawin and Prasert were also reportedly strained, with Prasert viewing Anawin as a precocious political upstart. Despite these tensions, the coalition successfully united behind both of Kob Suchinda’s election campaigns and remained a key part of the government from 5631 onward.

However, tensions reached a breaking point in December 5644, when the HHP broke with the government to vote against the Strong Nation Party’s (SNP) proposed conscription plan, legislation widely viewed as a test of coalition unity amid political instability. The HHP’s sole minister resigned soon after, leaving the coalition’s future uncertain until today.

The disbanding of the Patriotic Alliance carries significant implications for the upcoming presidential election, as it is now even more uncertain who will emerge as the leading candidate of the political right against the left opposition nominee, Anong Sereevattanakul, who has already secured the endorsement of nearly every opposition party through the "Democratic Hansan" coalition.
