Tan reveals new SPP identity for the party's 100th birthday, as concerns about moving socialists to the centre grow

With less than a week before the major celebration happening at the Guneilan Arena for the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Socialist People's Party, the leader of the socialists, Semken Tan, alongside the second number of the SPP, secretary-general Alin Noulet, has surprised some, as Tan leadership decided to change the party's brand identity ahead of the centenarian anniversary, changing the original logo that included a small purple star to the left of the SPP's short and colloquial name, to a simple and "corporate", described by some within the party itself, and various national designers, text logotype.

According to Tan, the change of the party's identity, which also includes a new slogan: "For people", as well as the new styling of posters and website, is a part of the socialist strategy to showcase that the party "is moving together with people and new trends", basically giving a refreshed image for the party. "We are a party by the people, of the people, and for the people, and thus we must be there alongside people, alongside the trendsetters, and those follows the trends, despite being almost a hundred years old, we still remain youthful and in touch with the everyone", said Tan during the press conference at the party's headquarters. Indeed, SPP still remains somewhat relevant with the Bianjian youth, with the ISUG average polling, showing SPP at around 25% within the 18-24 group, just a couple points ahead of the PCP and DPP, both at 23%.

However, the move has drawn various levels of criticism and concerns from within the ruling party, as members of the more traditionalist factions remain worried of the continuous progression of the SPP's ideological stance over to the centre during the leadership of Semken Tan, with senior party officials in the Yuan, as well the provincial chapter, anonymously expressing their frustration to the Gemun Post with the new logo, saying it is "yet another attempt of transforming SPP into a more centrist force" from the Tan and her team in charge of the party. "I do get the appeal to be a party for everyone, but it seems more and more evidently that we are starting to forget the foundational principles and ideas of this party, and it can not worry us", said one of the socialist members in the Nimanggi Provincial Assembly.
